Authors Ellen Granat, Donna Granat Schobel, and Lynne Granat Stark’s New Book And They Wrote Back

New York, NY, June 28, 2024 — Ellen Granat and daughters Donna Granat Schobel and Lynne Granat Stark have completed their new book, “…And They Wrote Back”: a captivating series of letters that Ellen’s husband and Donna and Lynne’s father sent to notable figures and icons throughout history, as well as their extraordinary responses that provide an intimate glimpse into the lives of these individuals.
“Growing up, our dad would write to people he had never met, but who he found interesting and wanted to know more about personally. Remember, no Wikipedia!” write Donna and Lynne. “The replies to those letters were on the walls in many rooms of our home, displayed on shelves, and delicately stored in bookbinders. It was normal for our dad to be waiting for a reply from people like George H. W. Bush, Neil Armstrong, or Rudy Vallée.
“The idea to write this book began after spending a day at our mom’s apartment on Long Island. We had taken out the binders of correspondences and began to look through them. When we were done, we put them back carefully. On the way home, we both felt that it just did not seem right to have all these amazing letters tucked away in a cabinet in Hewlett, New York.”
The authors continue, “Writing this book became a labor of love and was many years in the making. We are so proud of our dad and only wish he were still here to know we did this. Ever the pessimist, he always thought he would never hear from someone he wrote to. But he needn’t have worried. They wrote back!”
Published by Page Publishing, Ellen Granat, Donna Granat Schobel, and Lynne Granat Stark’s enlightening series will invite readers to share in a fascinating journey marked by curiosity, connection, and passion for understanding others across boundaries. Thought-provoking and heartfelt, “…And They Wrote Back” is a testament to the enduring power of curiosity, the joy of unexpected connections, and the richness of personal stories that shape one’s knowledge of history and humanity.

Vistra Joins Texas Nuclear Alliance

Austin, TX, June 28, 2024 –The Texas Nuclear Alliance announced today that Vistra, which has the second largest competitive nuclear fleet in the country, has joined the Texas Nuclear Alliance as a Founding Member. The company owns and operates nearly half of the nuclear generation capacity in Texas.
“Vistra is a Texas giant – and a nuclear giant,” said Texas Nuclear Alliance President Reed Clay. “Vistra has been powering Texas homes with electricity from Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant for decades – safely and reliably. We are excited about Vistra’s decision to join our movement, and we know that Vistra will be a major player in bringing more needed nuclear to Texas.”
“Nuclear power is unique in that it provides reliable, emission-free baseload power,” said Ken Peters, chief nuclear officer at Vistra. “Texas is attractive to businesses and individuals alike – and we need more electricity to meet the needs of this growth. As this thirst for power grows in Texas and across the country along with a desire for responsibly paced decarbonization, nuclear will be a big part of the solution. Vistra firmly believes in the benefits of nuclear and looks forward to working with the Texas Nuclear Alliance to educate, promote, and advance nuclear power generation in the Lone Star State.”
Texas-based Vistra is the largest competitive generator in the country and a leader in nuclear power generation in both Texas and the nation. Vistra operates more than 6,400 MW of nuclear power generation, including two reactors at Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant near Glen Rose, Texas. Comanche Peak’s two-unit nuclear plant has a capacity of 2,400 MW – enough to power about 1.2 million Texas homes in normal conditions. Since it began operating in 1990, Comanche Peak has generated more than 582 million megawatt-hours of reliable, emission-free electricity. Vistra is currently seeking a 20-year extension for operation of Comanche Peak Units 1 & 2, until 2050 and 2053 respectively. Vistra also recently completed its acquisition of Energy Harbor, adding three additional nuclear plants to its fleet – two in Ohio and one in Pennsylvania – amounting to an additional 4,000 MW of 24/7, carbon-free nuclear generation.
The Texas Nuclear Alliance is the only industry association in Texas dedicated to the advancement of nuclear technology in the state. The Alliance was formed with a singular mission: to make Texas the Nuclear Capital of the World. Formed in 2022 in the aftermath of Winter Storm Uri, the Alliance is based on the fundamental premise that if Texas and the world want low-carbon, reliable energy, it can no longer turn its back on nuclear energy. Nuclear is clean, safe, reliable, and secure.

Abel Womack CEO Announces His Retirement and Successor
Lawrence, MA, June 28, 2024 –-John Croce, CEO of Abel Womack, Inc., the 100-year-old premier Northeast US full-service lift truck, automation, and intralogistics company, has announced his plans to retire on June 30, 2024.
Mr. Croce’s remarkable journey with Abel Womack, which began as an intern at Northeastern University in 1974, has left an indelible impression on the company. His rapid ascent through the ranks, culminating in his appointment as President in 1994 and CEO in 2004, is a testament to his exceptional leadership. At the start of his 50-year tenure, the company, then known as Robert Abel & Co. in Woburn, MA, had a modest team of 14 employees primarily focused on selling cranes and hoists. Under his visionary leadership, the company began concentrating on its Raymond forklift line and diversified its portfolio. It then, over time, acquired Womack Material Handling and NECO Systems, constructed larger, modern facilities in Lawrence, MA and Wallingford, CT, and a much larger leased facility in Edgewood, NY; moves to accommodate future growth and facilitate strategic partnerships with customers and suppliers. These and other key moves have been instrumental in the company’s success.
“We had insight into where the industry was headed, so we decided to heavily invest in Raymond narrow aisle trucks, automation, robotics, engineering expertise and service capabilities at the ideal time to support our customers,” said Croce. “Those strategic investments paid off immensely in the long-term success of our organization.” When Croce became CEO, Abel Womack had around 100 employees and $50M in revenue. The company has significantly grown its offerings, revenues, profitability, and team size by fostering a healthy culture and getting the right people on the bus in the right seats, a team that is dedicated to the success of the organization. Abel Womack is now closing in on $200M in revenue and 300 team members.
Looking ahead, Mr. Croce expressed his anticipation of the personal time he will gain in retirement-time to enjoy life plus make a difference in other people’s lives. Reflecting on his journey, he sincerely expressed gratitude for the opportunity he was given and the remarkable team that has fostered our growth and success. “I grew up in humble beginnings and never considered myself an exceptional person,” said Croce. “But this talented, dedicated team has created company success well beyond what I had ever envisioned. I’m the luckiest guy in the world.”
After multiyear succession planning, Mr. Croce is confident in the transition of our President, Mike Petinge, into the role of Dealer Principal, effective July 1, 2024. “With Mike’s 36-year tenure with the company, ten years as President, his industry expertise and proven leadership, Abel Womack is not just prepared but positioned for continued growth and even greater success in the years to come. This seamless transition is a testament to our unwavering confidence in the strength of our team and the company’s leadership,” said Croce.
