Anurag University’s innovative approach to celebrate India’s 75th Republic Day
Hyderabad, January 26, 2024: Telangana’s first private University, Anurag University celebrated the 75th Republic Day of our country innovatively by launching a unique initiative “Project Expo” showcasing 75 social impact projects.

Disclosing this unveiling immediately after flag hoisting and Republic Day celebrations, Registrar, Prof.Balaji Utla said Science and technology make life easier and more comfortable for humans. They save both time and money and open up new perspectives of understanding. They aid in the advancement of the human race. What could be a better celebration for the 75th Republic Day than creating a stage for students to unveil the next best ideas that solve some of society’s problems?
Earlier speaking to the students immediately after presenting awards to winners in various activities, the registrar said you must be problem solvers and not creators. We don’t want to see you as a country of ranters. Instead, we want you to be problem identifiers and solvers. This ‘Project Expo’ , the first in the series, is an opportunity created for the students to identify the pain points in the society we live in and then propose a solution. This is the prized skill that differentiates you from the rest of the world, he told the students.
Your immediate competition is not your classroom but China, Vietnam, and European nations. Your immediate competition is another country, and you should not allow them to snatch away your opportunities, lunches, and your jobs.

Elaborating on his point Prof. Balaji gave examples of two companies FOXCONN, the world’s largest contract manufacturer of electronics and Apple Inc., an American manufacturer of personal computers, smartphones, tablet computers, computer peripherals, and computer software. FOXCONN, the contract manufacturer of the iPhone in India has a 50 bn US $ market value and Apple Inc has 3 a market value of $3 trillion. Its market value is almost equal to India’s GDP. Apple Is the World’s First $3 Trillion Company. Between both these companies which is more valuable? Prof Balaji asked the gathering.
It was only possible for Apple Inc. to be what it is today through innovation, Intellectual Property and problem-solving ability. So, keep a problem-solving mindset, he told the gathering.
Registrar Prof. Balaji Utla along with the Deans and Heads of the Departments launched the ‘Project Expo’ at the respective departments of the college.
Speaking about ‘Project Expo’, which will be an annual affair after that, Prof Balaji said, I gave all the departments an almost impossible task for this project at the last August 15 celebrations. In response to my call, they have come out with 160 plus ideas of which some 120 are shortlisted. All these are now being exhibited. It has 75 major ideas. These will be showcased to the public from the 29th, he added.
Some of these projects include the Smart EV Campus Mobility Car, an Automatic Motorised Cover for two and four-wheelers, Smart Toilets, Anurag Operating Systems(AOS) on the lines of the Windows Operating System; Solar Smart Dustbin; Anurag GPT; an Image Caption Generator; A Smart Chair and others
Smart EV Campus Mobility Car was an attraction at the campus as it was ferrying VIPs, Guests and others and making campus mobility effortless and smooth. Developed by students of EEE, this EV carries three plus one and a driver. It is a five-seater with 1200 kgs motor capacity. It has a body weight of 450 kg and a load bearing of 750 kg. It had a test ride of over 100 km on the campus already without any major problems. It is fitted with a lithium-ion battery and a Smart Battery Management System. One charge can enable 80 km of travel within the campus. It is made from scrap, Nanya electric parts, steel rods and fitted with Auto suspension. The chassis was designed and developed with local help. The idea of the team behind the development is to propose this as the best Campus EV Mobility Vehicle. The invention has received accolades. They made this vehicle for Rs 1.8 lakh rupees investment in one and a half months. The 12-member team worked on it.
Smart Shelter Cover for Two, Three and Four Wheelers is another attraction. The students named it Automatic Motorized Cover for the Vehicle. It is a multipurpose cover. Students of ECE have conceptualized it. It is easy to use, smart, foldable and multipurpose. It is fitted with sensors. They have used PVC Pipes, SMPS, Window Motor, Micro Controller. They spent Rs 12000/- to build it. Six team members worked on it for a month.
Computer Science students of Anurag developed Anurag Operating Systems(AOS) on the lines of the Windows Operating System. Microsoft Windows is a commercial operating system and purchasing licenses for Windows can add to the overall cost. Although Microsoft Windows has made great improvements in reliability in recent years, it is still considered less reliable than Linux. Anurag Operating System was an attempt to overcome shortcomings in Microsoft Windows and make it more accessible at least cost, said the students associated with the project.
Some of the other ideas or projects on display were Smart toilets for promoting better hygiene by reducing the need for manual contact and ensuring a cleaner toilet environment. It also incorporates water-saving technologies and Image caption generation using deep reinforcement learning. This will enable to generate captions from any image with high accuracy
Anurag University is a private University. It is the first private university in the state of Telangana. It is located in Venkatapur, Medchal-Malkajgiri district. Projections Indicate that by 2030, at Least Half of Fortune 500 Companies May Have a Chief Impact Officer,
New Delhi, 25th January 2024: Aspire Impact, under the aegis of the Impact Future Project (IFP), a thought-leadership platform supported by global tech giant Capgemini, has launched a groundbreaking report on the evolving role of Chief Impact Officers and their potential influence on organizations. This research publication is a first-of-its kind effort to understand, define, and champion adoption of this crucial C-suite role.

As a comprehensive deep dive into the Chief Impact Officer’s role, the report features direct voices and opinions from 25 global ESG, Sustainability, and Impact leaders from varied organization types and sectors across 10 countries and 6 continents. The thorough inquiry offered 12+ insights and trends based on responses to an online survey and a series of in-depth interviews, which explored the need, readiness, role, skills, key performance indicators, and future prospect of the role.
As we approach pivotal milestones like 2030 and, subsequently, the 2050 goals, the role of a Chief Impact Officer emerges as crucial. As each Chief Impact Officer contributes to transformative solutions within their organizations, a network of socially conscious leadership should emerge that is collectively equipped to steer capitalism towards a more responsible and sustainable path.
Organizations must heed the following key implications: Firstly, there is an urgent need for organizations to recognize, prioritize, and formalize the Chief Impact Officer role—an imperative supported by 95% of survey respondents. Secondly, appointment of Chief Impact Officers are driven by an investor-led movement, with a growing demand for transparency and disclosures on ESG, Sustainability, and Impact data and its linkage to financial performance. Thirdly, above all else, this role demands collaboration and consensus-building, given the possibility of encountering opposition from other CXOs, an apprehension highlighted by as many as 67% of the participants. Many participants in the research believed in and pressed the necessity to derive authority from the CEO and the Board.
Delving further into the expectations and responsibilities associated with this position, the research reveals a notable transformative trend. 33% of respondents recognize the triple bottom line as a critical focus, with a substantial emphasis (52%) on integrating Impact into corporate values and culture. Chief Impact Officers play pivotal roles in developing long-term transformation plans for total impact performance, achieving net-zero/circularity/SDG targets, and measuring and managing overall impact.
The report underscores the imperative for CIOs to possess a profound understanding of the interplay between ESG, Sustainability, and Impact to formulate effective strategies that lead to positive organizational and societal outcomes. Additionally, the report emphasizes the need for extensive research, ample content, and pedagogy to prepare existing CSOs/ESG Heads, enabling them to confidently transition to the role of Chief Impact Officer and guide their boards and corporations into the era of Impact Capitalism and Impact Accounting.
Amit Bhatia, Founder & CEO, Aspire Impact, emphasized the urgency of creating the Chief Impact Officer role, stating, “While 42% of Fortune Global 500 companies have made commitments to reduce emissions by 2030 and 25% have adopted net-zero targets, only a handful have a Chief Impact Officer.
There cannot be a better time to push a stronger business case for creating this role and thus a new cadre of protagonists who can catalyze, inspire, integrate, and orchestrate impact.” Expressing contentment with the research findings, Corey Glickman, CEO of Ecostart and Founder of Greenman Black (formerly Partner, Head of Sustainability & Design (ESG) at Infosys), highlighted its particular significance for the Indian corporate landscape. “ The role of the Chief Impact Officer (CIO) is gaining prominence in the corporate world as companies increasingly recognize the importance of sustainability and social impact. The CIO is responsible for ensuring that the company’s operations align with its social and environmental goals. The evolving role of the Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) is central to the integration of material ESG issues into corporate strategy. The rise of the CIO role is a natural progression of this trend, as companies seek to create long-term value by aligning their business practices with their social and environmental goals.”
Sangeeta Robinson, Chief Sustainability Officer, PVR Limited, expressed her delight at being part of this research and said “Sustainable Value Creation is a journey not a destination. It is a journey of continual improvement. The impact you create in year one becomes your baseline for the next. This is why I believe that leading Sustainability requires not just skills and qualification, but passion too.”
Harpreet Ghai, Director, Knowledge Development, Aspire Impact, and co-author of the publication said, “Those who can proactively negotiate these challenges and conjure up initiatives to create green pathways for their companies, won’t be wizards with magic wands, but 21st century transformation leaders, aka the new Corporate Sherpas, or Chief Impact Officers.”

The free video streaming service announced another rom-com series, Badi Heroine Banti Hai. The story gives us a glimpse into the life of a young and ambitious girl – Kajal from Ludhiana, who comes to Bombay to intern at the famous fashion firm Veer Singhania Designs. Little did she know that on her first day on the job, she got fired by Advait Singhania, the company’s owner. On that fateful day, both Veer Singhania and Advait were taken by surprise when Veer Singhania’s recently departed father, in his last will, designated her as the company’s heir. As a result, due to their radically different personalities, Kajal and Advait’s paths have been deeply entwined in a game of love and blame.

Nehal Chudasama who plays the character of Anastasia in the series, shares some BTS moments from the set, here’s what she said, “I am a fun-loving person, so on set I would be chaotic, jump here and there and talk to people. And while all of these things, I had hurt myself in my vanity and got my nose bruised and everybody started panicking. They were really helpful but it was a deep bruise, so I couldn’t shoot for 4-5 days because I wanted my skin to heal. Eventually, everyone came and met me. I shot on the same day, despite the challenge, we successfully filmed the important outdoor scenes, utilizing a location reserved exclusively for that day. So, I somehow managed to shoot some of the scenes, it was horrible but beautiful at the same time, a bittersweet experience for me on sets.”
The beauty pageant titleholder further went ahead and added her experience working with her co-stars saying, “It was truly wonderful, I share a strong bond with each of them. They were very adaptable, kind, and jolly without any negativity. Their helpful and fun-loving attitude made the experience truly brilliant.”
Created by Gul Khan, Badi Heroine Banti Hai features Prerna Lisa, Rajeev Siddhartha, Nehal Chudasama, and Utkarsh Kohli in pivotal roles. The series is streaming exclusively on Amazon miniTV for free, available on Amazon’s shopping app, on Fire TV, and Play Store.
