Cummins India Appoints Shveta Arya as Managing Director, Effective September 1, 2024

Bengaluru, India, August 14, 2024: Cummins India Limited, one of the leading power solutions technology providers, is pleased to announce that its Board of Directors has appointed Shveta Arya as an Additional Director and the Managing Director (Designate) effective August 8, 2024. Shveta Arya will take up the full-time role as the Managing Director of Cummins India Limited – effective September 1, 2024, subject to approval from shareholders through a postal ballot.

Shveta leads the Power System Business for Cummins India Limited – a portfolio she will continue to hold even after her appointment as the Managing Director. As the business leader, she has been driving growth and enhancing market presence for power generation and industrial businesses serving India and the global market.​ She also successfully led the launch of the CPCB IV+ range of products, which was introduced in July 2023 and features amongst the most stringent emission standards for backup power generation in the world. Previously, as the leader of Cummins’ Distribution business in India, Shveta crafted a five-year growth vision that saw significant revenue expansion during her tenure.

apna.co and AICTE concluded Silicon Valley Immersion Program, granting winners a trip to Silicon Valley

Mumbai, 14 August 2024: In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at bridging the gap between Indian talent and global opportunities, apna.co – India’s leading jobs and professional networking platform, in partnership with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), announced the successful conclusion of the Silicon Valley Immersion Program (SVIP). These talented individuals, hailing from institutions such as XLRI Jamshedpur, WCE Sangli, and PEC Chandigarh, have earned a fully funded trip to Silicon Valley in the US. The winners will gain insights into how these companies have emerged as world-leading tech conglomerates.

The program, which ran for 4 months, received an overwhelming 25,000 registrations from 6,000 colleges across India, with notable 40% female participation, highlighting the program’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. Any Indian aged 18 and above with at least a graduation degree (or actively pursuing one) was eligible for the program.The competition narrowed to a total of 20 national finalists competing in teams of two after a rigorous selection process. The first round included an online MCQ assessment covering logical reasoning, data interpretation, and critical thinking. The next round was a case study challenge in Marketing, Generative AI, Retail and Commerce and Software Engineering. The third and final round, the offline Grand Finale known as Startup Garage, brought participants face-to-face with a distinguished jury, including Nirmit Parikh, Founder and CEO of apna.co (and former Product and Strategy head at Apple), the AICTE Chairman, senior tech professional from Google, and other industry leaders. This decisive round determined the winning four participants.

The grand finale concluded at the AICTE HQ in New Delhi, determining the top two teams who won cash prizes worth 4 lakhs and a fully funded trip to Silicon Valley, USA.

Domestic Sales:

  • Passenger Vehicles2 sales were 3,41,510 units in July 2024.
  • Three-wheeler sales were 59,073 units in July 2024
  • Two-wheeler sales were 14,41,694 units in July 2024.

Commenting on sales data of July 2024, Mr Vinod Aggarwal, President, SIAM said, ““Though Three-Wheeler and Two-Wheeler segments are performing well, there has been some de- growth of Passenger Vehicles and Commercial Vehicles in July 2024, compared to July 2023. The above average rainfall coupled with upcoming festive season is likely to again propel growth in the short term. In addition, enabling budget announcements which emphasizes on overall economic growth with fiscal support for infrastructure and rural sector should augur well for the Auto sector in the medium term.”

Commenting on July-2024 performance, Mr Rajesh Menon, Director General, SIAM said, “In July 2024, Passenger vehicle segment de-grew by (-)2.5% compared to July 2023, posting a sales of about 3.42 lakh units. Three Wheelers posted a growth of 5.1% compared to July last year, with sales of 0.59 Lakh units in July 2024, which is close to the peak of 2018-19. Two- Wheeler segment also posted a decent growth of 12.5% in July 2024 as compared to July 2023, with sales of 14.42 Lakh units”.

14th August 2024, Mumbai: Alembic Pharmaceuticals Limited (Alembic) today announced that it has received final approval from the US Food & Drug Administration (USFDA) for its Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) Dabigatran Etexilate Capsules, 110 mg.

The approved ANDA is therapeutically equivalent to the reference listed drug product (RLD), Pradaxa Capsules, 110 mg of Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Boehringer). Dabigatran Etexilate Capsules 110 mg are indicated for prophylaxis of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism following hip replacement surgery. Refer label for a detailed indication.

Manappuram Finance Reports 11.7% Y-o-y Increase in Q1 Net Profit to Rs557 Crore
Valapad (Thrissur): Manappuram Finance Ltd has reported a consolidated net profit of ₹556.5 crore for the first quarter of FY25, reflecting a 11.7increase compared to ₹498 crore in Q1 FY24. The Non-Banking Financial Company’s (NBFC) consolidated Assets Under Management (AUM) for Q1 reached ₹44,932 crore, marking a 21% increase year-on-year and a 6.8% rise quarter-on-quarter. The standalone net profit for the quarter, excluding subsidiaries, was ₹441 crore. Total consolidated operating income for the quarter was ₹2,488 crore, a 23% increase from the same quarter last year. The company’s consolidated gold loan portfolio saw a 14.8% increase to ₹23,647 crore compared to the first quarter of FY24, with the number of live gold loan customers at 2.6 million as of June 30, 2024.
Sharing the results, Mr. V.P. Nandakumar, MD & CEO, stated, “We were able to achieve significant growth in Gold Loan AUM in this quarter, registering nearly 15% growth year-on-year and 10% sequentially. Our non-gold verticals are also growing, contributing notable gains in AUM and net profit.”
Asirvad Microfinance Ltd concluded the quarter with an AUM of ₹12,310 crore, a 21% growth from ₹10,141 crore in the same period last year, and a net profit of ₹100 croreManappuram Home Finance Ltd., the home loans subsidiary, continues its steady growth with an AUM of ₹1,587 crore, up 32% year-on-year and 5.2% quarter-on-quarter. The Vehicles & Equipment Finance division’s AUM reached ₹4,541 crore, showing a significant 63.4 % year-on-year increase.
The company’s non-gold loan businesses now represent 47% of its consolidated AUM. The average borrowing cost for the standalone entity was 9% in Q1 FY24, compared to 8.3% in the year-ago quarter. Gross NPA stood at 1.96%, and Net NPA at 1.7%. As of June 30, 2024, the company’s consolidated net worth was ₹12,021 crore, with a book value per share of ₹142. The standalone capital adequacy ratio was 29.6%. Consolidated total borrowings were ₹38,463 crore, and the total number of live customers reached 6.8 million.
