Ice Make Refrigeration Limited Reports 7.58% Growth in Revenue for Q1 FY 2025

Hyderabad, August 12, 2024: Ice Make Refrigeration Limited, a leading innovator in cooling solutions and a prominent manufacturer of over 50 types of refrigeration equipment in India, has announced its financial results for the first quarter of FY 2025, ending on June 30, 2024.

The company reported a consolidated revenue growth of 7.58%, reaching Rs 85.33 crore, compared to Rs 79.31 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year. However, due to increased costs related to strategic recruitments and other operational expenses, consolidated net profit for Q1 FY25 declined by 32% to Rs 3.64 crore, down from Rs 5.36 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year.

During the quarter, Ice Make recorded an EBITDA of Rs 6.13 crore, compared to Rs 8.34 crore in the same period last year, with an EBITDA margin of 7.19%, compared to 10.52% in the corresponding period of the previous year. The non-annualized earnings per share (EPS) for Q1 FY 2025 stood at Rs 2.35.

Commenting on the results, Mr. Chandrakant Patel, CMD of Ice Make Refrigeration Limited, said, “Despite the challenges this quarter, we achieved steady revenue growth. However, an increase in salary expenses due to strategic recruitments for new projects, higher travel costs for project machinery abroad, and the impact of the election code of conduct on April and May business activities resulted in lower profitability. Our focus on innovation and efficiency will drive stronger financial performance in the coming quarters helping the company reach Rs 500 cr. revenue milestone this fiscal. With India’s growth forecasted at over 7% by the IMF, the long-term prospects for our business are promising. We have a robust order book and leads totalling Rs 98 crore, positioning us to sustain an annual growth rate of approximately 25-30%.”

Mr. Patel also emphasized the company’s comprehensive presence across all refrigeration segments, including Cold Room Storage, Ammonia Refrigeration, Industrial Refrigeration, Commercial Refrigeration, and Transport Refrigeration. He stated, “With the rising demand for innovative cooling and cold chain storage solutions in India and abroad, Ice Make is strategically poised to capitalize on these opportunities.”

SIAM Hosts 3rd International Conference on World Biofuel Day 2024: “The Biofuel Revolution in India: Fueling Tomorrow”

Mumbai, 12th August 2024: The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) under its Bio-initiative successfully organized the 3rd International Conference on World Biofuel Day 2024 themed The Biofuel Revolution in India: Fueling Tomorrow. The landmark event brought together global and national experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to discuss the critical role of biofuels in India’s sustainable energy transition and the broader implications for the Indian automotive industry.

The conference commenced with the inaugural session titled “Catalysing the Indian Biofuel Story for the Global Arena,” moderated by Mr. Prashant K Banerjee, Executive Director, SIAM. Welcoming the attendees and setting the tone for the day, he said,” There are three C’s collaboration, communication, competency that defines India’s biofuel journey. India has embraced E20 economy, and its collaborative efforts is manifested by strong cooperation that the sector is receiving from the global partners. “

The conference was honored by H.E. Mr. Kenneth Félix Haczynski da Nóbrega, Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil as the Chief Guest. In his address, he stated,” Driven by our shared vision for a sustainable future, Brazil’s ethanol expertise and India’s progress in decarbonization align with our goal of 20-25% biofuel use. The Collaboration between India and Brazil sets a global example in the energy transition, emphasizing inclusivity and cost-effective bioenergy solutions. Major investments and technology transfers between our nations will be key to advancing sustainable mobility and achieving long-term climate goals.”

Mr. Rohit Mathur, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India stated,” Today’s success is the result of the collective efforts of multiple ministries under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. We are poised to see significant progress in the next five years as we advance biofuels and fully utilize domestic resources. The ethanol program is benefiting farmers, saving foreign exchange, and transforming the ecosystem. We urge investment in advanced biofuels to further boost ethanol production and emphasize the need for a mass awareness campaign to educate the public on flex-fuel and ethanol percentages.”

Mr. K.C. Sharma, Chief Engineer (MVL) at the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India, and Guest of Honour at the conference stated, “Achieving net-zero emissions by 2070 is a national commitment with biofuels being crucial to this goal. We have increased ethanol blending from 1.4% in 2013-14 to nearly 20% today, thanks to the collaborative efforts of fuel providers, vehicle manufacturers, and component suppliers. We are advancing towards testing new bio-ethanol solutions with prototypes already on Indian roads.”

Mr. Vikram S. Kasbekar, Executive Director of Hero MotoCorp Ltd. and SIAM Executive Committee Member, set the stage for discussions on mobility initiatives with a keynote address saying,” The industry will be ready soon to rollout the flex fuel vehicles but their off-take is important. The energy content in ethanol is less than that of petrol. We have to consider what value the customer will get in adopting to ethanol and ensure that the customers benefit.”

Dr. Reji Mathai, Director of the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) said,” “Marking a significant milestone in our commitment to advancing biofuel integration and reducing emissions, India is able to achieve E20 compliance with BS VI standards”.

Mr. Sujoy Choudhury, Director at Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, followed with their insights saying,” India needs to ensure the biofuel growth is equitable and sustainable. Oil manufacturing companies have increased their tankage by ten-fold to support the biofuel journey. Today, Ethanol moves through various modes of transport including pipelines, railways, and roadways.”

Mr. Mandava Prabhakar Rao, President of the Indian Sugar & Bio-energy Manufacturers Association (ISMA) said,” Sugarcane is the most efficient crop in terms of water and land utilization. Currently, only 15% of sugarcane is converted to ethanol, but increasing this by 10% only would allow the Indian sugarcane industry to meet 55% of the country’s ethanol demand”.

The conference also featured the release of the Context Paper on “Biofuels in India: Current Scenario and the Road Ahead.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Rajesh Menon, Director General of SIAM remarked, “The inaugural session has highlighted India’s significant achievements in the biofuel sector and brought attention to the need for collaborative efforts for future advancements in biofuel. We must build on this foundation and drive the mobility sector towards a sustainable and impactful future”.

Thematic Session 1, titled “Biofuel Demand and Supply Management: Bridging the Gap,” was moderated by Mr. Ashim Sharma, Sr. Partner from Nomura Research Institute. The session featured the SIAM Sukh Da Saah Sustainability Initiative and the release of the report “Sukh Da Saah – SIAM Initiative on Crop Residue Management.” Mr. Alok Sharma, Director (R&D) of Indian Oil Corporation discussed advancements in biofuel R&D; Mr. Anurag Saraogi, Chief General Manager, Bharat Petroleum Corporation presented critical operational strategies for developing storage capacity and dispensing of the fuel; Mr. Rajagopal Manohar, Head of Technical Service and Innovation, Novonesis, spoke on technological innovations beyond development of ethanol biofuel; Mr. Ashok Singh, Assistant Vice President, Regreen-Excel EPC focused on technologies for supply chain optimization; and Mr. Amit Agrawal, Senior Vice President, Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd. detailed the sugar industry’s role in biofuel production.

Mr. Som Kapoor, Future of Mobility Leader, EY Parthenon moderated the Thematic Session 2 titled “Preparing the Auto Industry for a Flex Fuel Future,” focusing on assessing the sector’s preparedness for flexible fuel vehicles, which included insightful presentations from panelists. Mr. Vikram Gulati, Country Head & Executive Vice President (Corporate Affairs & Governance), Toyota Kirloskar Motor shared strategies for development of hybrid flex vehicles in the country, while Mr. Sameer Sinha, CEO, Triveni Engineering & Industries addressed engineering challenges related to production of ethanol. Ms. Shweta Saini, Founder & CEO, Arcus Policy Research discussed the regulatory landscape on ethanol production and feedstock cultivation, and Mr. Krishnan Sadagopan, Sr. Vice President, Ashok Leyland & Board of Director IOCL, and Mr. Harjeet Singh, Executive Adviser (Tech), Hero MotoCorp Ltd and Presentation by Prof. K A Subramanian, Head of Department, Energy Science and Engineering, IIT Delhi spoke on technical readiness of the OEMs to launch flex fuel vehicles in the country.

Thematic Session 3, ‘Building a Resilient Ecosystem for the Adoption of Biofuels,’ focused on the critical steps needed to support biofuel ecosystem development in India. Moderated by Mr. Raman Jha, Executive Director at PwC, the session featured key insights from industry leaders. Mr. Y. B. Ramakrishna, Member – Working Group on Biofuels at MoPNG discussed necessary policy frameworks introduced by the government for development of ethanol value chain, while Mr. Rafik Mankad, CMD, Biotexus Energy Pvt Ltd and Mr. R. Ramaprabhu, Head of Fluid Technology, Mahindra & Mahindra talked about role of industry in adoption of higher blends of biofuels. Contributions from Sqn Ldr Ankur Naik Director, Punjab Renewable Energy Systems Pvt. Ltd, Mr. Ashish Kumar, Managing Director, Verbio India and Mr. Rajneesh Agarwal, Secretary General, UP Distillers Association (UPDA) emphasized the need to adopt renewable energy solutions, develop robust and scalable ethanol supply chain for fulfilment of decarbonisation goals. The session wrapped up with a call for stronger collaboration and technological innovation among the industry stakeholders from Dr. Prabhakar Thakur, HoD (Hydrocarbon Efficiency & New Energy), Directorate General of Hydrocarbons, Govt. of India and Dr. S. D. Singh, Senior Advisor, Biodiesel Association of India.

SIAM, along with its members, has been actively working with governments, corporations, and other stakeholders to boost adoption of clean fuels in response to emissions from the road transportation, in line with SIAM’s mission of Building the Nation Responsibly.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal Announces Diamond Imprest Licence at IIJS Premiere 2024

National, 12 August 2024: Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minster of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India, announced the introduction of the Diamond Imprest Licence during his interactive session at the 40th edition of India International Jewellery Show 2024, the flagship show of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (BEC), NESCO, Goregaon. The Diamond Imprest Licence will benefit MSME exporters, which comprise a large portion of India’s gem & jewellery exporters.

GJEPC has been recommending this policy initiative for a long time. The Diamond Imprest Licence ensures that Indian diamond exporters above a certain export turnover threshold will be allowed to import at least 5%, (if not 10% as it was earlier) of the average export turnover of preceding three years. This will provide level playing field for Indian MSME diamond exporters with that of their larger peers. It will stop flight of investment of Indian diamantaires to diamond mining destinations. It will give more employment in terms of diamond assorters and processing of semi-finished diamonds in the factories.

Shri Goyal was addressing a packed house of gem & jewellery exporters in the presence of Shri Vipul Shah, Chairman, GJEPC, Shri Kirit Bhansali, Vice Chairman, GJEPC; Shri. Siddharth Mahajan, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt. of India; Shri Dnyaneshwar B. Patil – IAS, Zonal Development Commissioner, SEEPZ-SEZ, Mumbai; Shri R K Mishra, Additional DGFT; Shri Nirav Bhansali, Convener, National Exhibitions, GJEPC; Shri Sabyasachi Ray, ED, GJEPC, members from the trade, media, ladies and gentlemen. Manisha Gupta, Commodities Editor, CNBC TV18 Group was moderating this session with the Minister.

Shri Goyal also promised the gem & jewellery trade that since GJEPC’s IIJS Premiere is facing shortage of space for exhibitors, he will think of way to create 2 million sq ft exhibition space for IIJS in the future.

Shri Goyal said that the Union Budget had cut duty rates of Gold, Silver and platinum, which was hurting the vibrant gem & jewellery industry and job creation.

“Gold and jewellery will increasingly come through official channels and our workforce will get job orders. India’s domestic market is resilient and growing fast to compensate for the loss in exports due to global recession. I urge gem & jewellery exporters to be positive,” he said.

Shri Goyal said, “Indian Government is engaging with G7 actively and several relevant Union Ministers are very much involved in negotiations. We have been having extensive discussions with EU Ministers and Commissioner. There are issues of transparency, data protection and costs. But this is the first time that India is negotiating from a position of strength with the G7.”

“We are hoping that Mumbai or Surat can have a centre similar to the one in Antwerp. We are also in talks in De Beers Kimberley Process to segregate diamonds and trace their origins. However there is no technical mechanism and no protocol in this regard and we are jointly working towards this,” Shri Goyal said.

“In terms of FTAs, we follow consultative process. Many discussions are happening with developed countries and with continents. However it is difficult to predict timeline as discussions evolve over a period of time. In the case of ECTA with Australia and CEPA FTAs with the UAE, we were able to protect all our sensitive sectors. We conclude only once we have a fair equitable and balanced approach unlike in the past,” Shri Goyal said.

In the FTA with Australia, we got double taxation removed for Indian IT sector. In case of Europe’s EFTA (Switzerland, Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein), they have committed to invest $100 bn in India and create 1 million jobs.

“Indian exporters need to create greater degree of value addition due to recession in developed countries. The world is not looking for high cost products or jewellery but intricate products with diligent workmanship, exquisite artistry and bespoke handmade jewellery. Discerning customers will always seek value for money,” Shri Goyal said.

Mr. Vipul Shah, Chairman, GJEPC, said, “Shri Piyush ji, your relentless dedication and visionary leadership have resulted in signing of FTAs like India-UAE CEPA, India-Australia ECTA, India-EFTA TEPA. It was on your insistence that a series of meeting with stakeholder and industry leaders were done to take industry onboard before finalising these FTAs. The India-UAE CEPA has resulted in a strong growth of 40% gem & jewellery exports to UAE. Sir, we are looking forward to the signing of India-UK, India-EU and India-Canada FTAs in near future under your leadership which will give exports big boost. We are also encouraged with your renegotiations of old FTAs with ASEAN countries and more. “

The Common Facility Centre (CFC) at SEEPZ trains 300 physically challenged girls and boys as of now but this will impart training to 1500 special youngsters every year and will get placement from the 10,000 plus members of GJEPC.

Showcasing “Brilliant Bharat” theme this year, IIJS Premiere 2024 show dates are: 8-12 August at JIO World Convention Centre, Mumbai and 9-13 August at Bombay Exhibition Centre, NESCO Goregaon, Mumbai. Shri Shobhandeb Chattopadhyay, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Department of Agriculture, Government of West Bengal, said, “The Bengal Food and Fruit Festival will run from 9th to 11th August, bringing together dignitaries, businessmen, farmers and entrepreneurs. Our farmers have faced severe challenges, including loans, famines and droughts, leading to tragic outcomes. Today, significant improvements have been made: farmers receive ₹10,000 annually, split into two payments of ₹5,000 each, while those with smaller landholdings receive ₹4,000. Insurance premiums are fully covered and if a farmer dies before age 60, their family receives ₹2 lakh immediately. Farmers over 60 are also provided with pensions, putting families in a better financial state. We’ve seen increased production and mechanisation, spending ₹3,000 crores on infrastructure development. We’ve established 93 cold storages, 367 dal mills, 339 warehouses and 1,132 farm mechanisation units to aid our farmers. We’re now self-sufficient in producing potato seeds, no longer dependent on other states. Today’s festival showcases different stalls aimed at promoting awareness of these advancements. We’ve also established around 1,000 FPOs, involving about 5 lakh people, and there are approximately 600 Sufal Bangla outlets across West Bengal. We remain committed to the continued betterment of the department.”

Shri Arup Roy, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Department of Food Processing Industries & Horticulture, Government of West Bengal, stated, “I have been with the department for some time now, and after joining, I discovered fruits and vegetables I had never heard of before, including Dragon Fruit. I’ve visited several farms in Jalpaiguri and other districts across West Bengal and we’re in the process of constructing labs to further our vision of leading and advancing the food and horticultural industry. We take pride in our diverse variety of mangoes, such as Himsagar and Langra, which are very popular among the masses, along with many other exceptional fruits and vegetables. Recognising the health risks associated with fruits ripened using carbide, which can be harmful to patients, we have established ripening centres across various districts to ensure safe consumption. We are now vigilant about weather forecasts, especially cyclonic storms, which allows us to harvest mangoes before storms hit and send them to our ripening centres, benefiting our farmers. In 2023-24, we distributed 82 lakh seeds, including mangoes, guava, lemon, cashew, papaya, dragon fruit, coconut and oranges, to farmers free of cost. Although we currently import onions from Nasik, we do have onion production in districts like Murshidabad and since 2012-13, we have seen an increase in production. Recently, we’ve committed to further enhancing onion production, with efforts focused on improving storage conditions and promoting practices like vermicomposting. Additionally, we’re cultivating orchids in polyhouses. We believe that with continued effort, we will see significant growth in the days to come. This festival, which will continue for three days, is a testament to our ambition to take the food processing industry to new heights.”

Shri Moloy Ghatak, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Department of Judicial, Labour and Law, Government of West Bengal, said, “We have made significant strides in the food processing and horticulture industry, producing a variety of special fruits, including kiwi and dragon fruit, right here in Bengal. Our Hon’ble Chief Minister is dedicated to uplifting farmers, promoting cash crops alongside other agricultural products. Over the years, our production has grown substantially and the CM has also proposed increasing crop insurance for farmers.”

Mr Shrikant Goenka, Chairman, Agriculture & Food Processing Committee, Indian Chamber of Commerce, said, “Despite covering only 2.7% of India’s geographic area, West Bengal supports 8.8% of its population. We have approximately 71 lakh farming families, of which 96% are small and marginal. This festival celebrates the rich diversity of agriculture and food processing in Bengal with a special focus on the state’s exotic fruits and vegetables, such as dragon fruit, avocado and year-round produce. We are proud of the strides made in broccoli, mushroom cultivation and strawberry plantations, which are opening new avenues for our farmers. Under the guidance of key government officials and experts, the horticulture and floriculture sectors have flourished, making West Bengal a leading state in food processing. This festival is not only a showcase of our achievements but also a platform to encourage further investment, technological innovation and export growth in the region. The seminars and exhibitions will highlight the latest technologies to inspire our farmers and FPOs who have travelled to be here. The government has been supporting, guiding and subsidising numerous interventions, such as micro-irrigation and improved seeds, all of which are available for exploration at this exhibition. I encourage our farmers to take full advantage of these resources as we progress together. Over the next three days, we hope it will serve as a catalyst for greater success in agriculture and food processing.”

Sri Onkar Singh Meena, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Government of West Bengal, said, “Under the guidance of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, significant progress has been made in the food processing and horticulture departments. Members of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and others involved in the food processing sector should focus on increasing the value addition of products, which will benefit farmers. SIRC of ICAI Hosts 56th Regional Conference with Focus on Knowledge and Professional Growth

The 2 days Conference will delve upon various technical sessions on matters related to GST, FEMA, Income Tax, Companies Act, Information Technology, Direct Taxes and more.

The conference was inaugurated today by CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, President of ICAI along with Sri Shelley Jindal, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Karnataka & Goa, and Dr. Binod Kumar Das from DRDO as Guest of Honours.

He further added, “To support members and hand hold them to learn AI, an exclusive Certificate Course on AI for Members was launched recently. The course aims to establish a foundational understanding of AI concepts, enhance proficiency in AI tools pertinent to both practitioners and industry professionals, and develop AI skills for effectively leveraging these technologies in professional practices. The first batch of the Certificate Course on AI for Chartered Accountants (AICA) – Level 1 will commence on August 21. To further empower and upskill members, a publication featuring 100 AI tools tailored for financial and accounting functions, specifically designed for Chartered Accountants”

He highlighted that, in order to keep up with the rapidly changing world, ICAI is focused on Continuing Professional learning of its members so that they stay up to date on trends and technology. For this ICAI organizes over 7,000 programs annually across the country, demonstrating its wide-reaching influence and strong commitment to professional growth.

Highlighting emerging opportunities for Chartered Accountants in the domain such as forensic accounting, Non-financial Reporting, Mediation, Dispute Resolution, Insolvency, Risk Management, forex and treasury management, valuation, international taxation etc, CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, President, ICAI stated that over 50% of the 4600 insolvency professionals being Chartered Accountants, this underscores commitment and enthusiasm for continuous learning. Additionally, he emphasized the crucial role Chartered Accountants have played in the successful implementation of GST law, providing essential expertise to help businesses navigate the transition and maintain compliance.

ICAI have collaborated with the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General (C&AG) to collaborate on accounting and auditing issues and to strengthen the accountability mechanism for good governance in Local-self Government. Together with O/o C&AG, a Certificate Course for Accountants of Panchayats and Municipal Bodies has been launched to make available skilled & trained accountants at grassroot level to improve accounting of Local-self Government in India. These courses provide specialised training to 12th Pass Students and above and skilling them and opening employment opportunities in over 200,000 panchayats and municipal bodies.

In order to make Indian CA Firms bigger, Committee for Aggregation of CA Firms (CACAF) has been formed by ICAI to bring ease to the practicing firms in networking so as to tap the synergies of the combined strength and resources. Recognizing the importance of aggregation as a strategic move towards enhancing operational efficiency, global competitiveness and professional growth, the ICAI has recently revised the Guidelines for Merger and Demerger and has also approved the Guidelines for Aggregation of LLPs.
