Supporting Single Mothers Through Charity Tea
Clearwater, FL, June 04, 2024 — On Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 3:00pm, local nonprofit Mothers of Minors (M.O.M.) Inc. will be the featured charity at the monthly Clearwater Community Volunteers (CCV) Center’s “Charity Tea.”
M.O.M. Inc. is run by Andrea Clark, an advocate for single parents struggling to make ends meet for their kids. Guests will be bringing donations of baby toys, diapers, cribs, bassinets and more, just in time for M.O.M. Inc.’s annual Showers of Love Community Baby Shower on July 6th, 2024, where the items will be given out to needy families.
Each month, the Center holds a “Charity Tea” to give back to the community by featuring a nonprofit to collect in-kind donations for. Several charities in the area have benefitted from this event, receiving donations varying from non-perishable foods, baby clothing, dog treats and toys, school supplies, and more.
“What M.O.M. is doing for the single mothers in our community is something that cannot be understated,” said Tracy Hawkins, manager of the Center. “In Pinellas County, 30% of children live in a single-parent household. With that comes the struggles you hear about for the children in those circumstances; living in poverty, involved in crime, and even drug abuse, to name a few. By supporting these mothers, we are in turn supporting their children. As humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard states in his non-religious guide, The Way to Happiness, ‘Bringing a child into the world today is a little bit like dropping one into a tiger’s cage. Children can’t handle their environment and they have no real resources. They need love and help to make it.’ Helping our youth is important, that is why we are proud to support MO.M. Inc.’s cause.”
All are welcome to join them on June 22 and bring a donation of baby clothing, bassinets, toys, cribs or strollers for M.O.M. Inc.

National Drug & Alcohol Screening Association Urges Protection of Transportation Safety Amid Marijuana Rescheduling Debate
Washington, DC, June 01, 2024 — The National Drug & Alcohol Screening Association (NDASA) expresses grave concerns over the potential rescheduling of marijuana under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) and its implications for safety-sensitive transportation industries. NDASA asserts that without a “Safety Carve-Out,” rescheduling marijuana could disrupt mandatory drug testing protocols for employees in critical public safety roles like airline pilots, air traffic controllers, school bus drivers, and truck drivers, posing significant risks to transportation safety nationwide.
“If marijuana is rescheduled without a Safety Carve-Out, safety-sensitive transportation employees, including airline pilots, air traffic controllers, school bus drivers, and truck drivers, may not undergo marijuana testing,” warns James A. Greer, Chairman of NDASA. “This poses a significant risk to the safety of our roads, skies, and rails.”
Federally regulated drug testing, including for marijuana, has long been integral to maintaining safety standards within the transportation sector. Over three decades, these protocols have effectively mitigated marijuana-related accidents in commercial transportation. However, a potential rescheduling of marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule III would disrupt Department of Transportation (DOT) testing protocols.
Philip J. Dubois, Government Affairs Committee Chairman, underscores the regulatory challenges: “Placing marijuana on Schedule III removes DOT’s ability to test for marijuana, undermining DOT testing protocols and jeopardizing safety-sensitive operations.” Moreover, NDASA emphasizes the importance of international treaties, such as the 1961 Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, which imposes constraints on marijuana use beyond medicinal and scientific contexts.
Brian Drew, Governmental Affairs Committee Co-Chairman, urges legislative action: “Comprehensive legislation with a Safety Carve-Out is essential to preserve drug-free workplaces across all transportation sectors and uphold over three decades of stringent drug testing protocols.”
M. Jo McGuire, Executive Director of NDASA, emphasizes the urgency of the matter: “The consequences of disregarding safety measures in drug testing could be profound, impacting both federal workplaces and transportation safety.”
NDASA calls upon policymakers to prioritize public safety by supporting legislation that includes a Safety Carve-Out, ensuring the continuity of effective drug testing protocols.

The Naples Florida Review Launches A Powerful Tool for Naples Visitors

Naples, FL, May 31, 2024 — The Naples Florida Review launched this past weekend and the new bi-weekly newsletter will be a powerful tool for Naples visitors and locals alike. This newcomer online publication will feature restaurant reviews, top ten lists, events and local news. Naples Florida Rentals is a proud sponsor of the new publication.
“There are a lot of Naples ‘Guides’ out there that don’t provide accurate and useful information,” Editor Carolyn Cervoni noted. “Many of the articles you read today are written using artificial intelligence, and I thought that Naples visitors and locals would enjoy a fresh perspective written by a year-around local.”
The first issue of the new newsletter includes an article about recent restaurant upheaval in Naples with the reopening of local favorite The Turtle Club and the closure of the Olde Naples Pub, as well as a review of the newly-opened Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. The newsletter also includes helpful links to local news and resources. “I wanted to deliver something that I would enjoy reading,” Cervoni said, “whether you’re a local mom, traveling for business, or someone looking to visit Naples for the first time.”
Restaurant reviews and travel tips are hot topics around town, according to Cervoni. “Naples has blossomed into a destination for foodies,” Cervoni noted, “but beyond fine dining, visitors are also excited to hear about hole-in-the-wall local favorites and family-friendly venues.”
Sponsor Naples Florida Rentals is excited to see what the Naples Florida Review will feature in the coming months, and eager to use the newsletter as a tool for luxury rental guests. “We are excited to have Naples Florida Rentals as a sponsor,” Cervoni said, “they own your own homes, live locally and are invested in this community. We hope to help Naples visitors gain that extra local insight that will make their trip even more enjoyable.”
