50 Indian students to present projects at famous ECOSOC chambers at UN headquarters in New York
Fifty Indian teenagers are set to represent India at the 7th 1M1B Activate Impact Summit at the United Nations headquarters in New York. The students – mostly from Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Delhi – will present social, economic, and environmental projects to a gathering of industry experts, corporations, non-profits, academia, civil society, UN representatives, Indian officials, and delegates from multiple countries.
Indian students will take part in transformative events featuring Networking mixers, Rocket Pitches, Power Talks, Slam Poetry, and insightful discussions over micro-documentaries, all aimed at igniting inspiration for meaningful action supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). On the agenda are also critical dialogues on topics such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Tech for Good, Digital Citizenship and inclusivity, Sustainability, and climate Action, Localising and accelerating SDGs, and Amplifying UN Campaigns, ensuring that the summit is an immersive experience and a catalyst for innovation and collaborative change to achieve promises of the United Nations and the 2030 agenda.
Said Manav Subodh, Founder of 1M1B, an UN-accredited non-profit, “The One Million for One Billion (1M1B) programme is meticulously identifying and moulding promising young talents into human-centered leaders. Through varied projects, these leaders are working towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and will in turn impact one billion people. This summit is proof of the path the programme has taken and will have participation from diverse backgrounds, including educators, corporate executives, dignitaries, entrepreneurs, and young innovators. The spotlight of the Activate Summit will be on the presentations by Indian teenagers of their impactful projects in agriculture, climate change, diabetic patients, the hearing impaired, and even ecosystems like lakes, among others. These projects include innovations in drones and Artificial Intelligence for farmers, solar-powered drinking water for rural areas, and sustainable menstrual hygiene practices for girls from poor families. The will present to an expected audience of educators, corporate professionals, government officials, and students from around the world.
This year’s summit is set to host nearly 300 participants, including students, educators, industry experts, and government officials. ‘Pravaha’, the NCPA’s forthcoming dance festival, set to premier acclaimed Indian and international choreographies in Mumbai
Hyderabad: 29th Nov’23 – Join us at the NCPA for an immersive experience of celebrated Indian and international dancers who will exhibit their applauded choreographies for the first time in the city. From a solo performance that takes a contemporary stance on the ancient classic of Sophocles’ Antigone to a duet between Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi; Pravaha’s line-up features diverse dance forms. The festival’s objective is twofold; the first is to enable various artists and art at the NCPA and the second is to provide the audience in Mumbai with an opportunity to explore traditional as well as emerging dance styles from various parts of the world.
Day 1: “Antigone, Interrupted” by Joan Cleville, reimagines Sophocles’ Antigone in a mesmerizing solo performance that explores the strength and vulnerability of the body as a tool for resistance and civil disobedience.
Day 2: “Manodarpan” by Odissi exponent Sharmila Biswas and troupe showcases captivating stories, portraying all the human weaknesses and strengths, each expressing a certain emotion and its intricacies. It elevates us to a spiritual level, without any reference to gods and goddesses or mythology. Followed by the duet “Converse” – seamlessly blending Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam with Amrita Lahiri and Pavitra Bhat respectively.
Day 3: Performance by danseuse Mahati Kannan, the grand-niece of noted Bharatanatyam exponent Padma Subrahmanyam. Born into a family of musicians and dancers, Kannan is an excellent artist in her own right. We also witness Bharatanatyam duo Parvathy Menon and Shijith Nambiar in “Dhi – Our Thoughts,” a performance that explores the inner psyche as – “Dhi is a manifestation of our thoughts. Every thought born in one’s mind starts to slowly begin its journey to create a magical world.”

The Rowing sportsperson of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Shri. S. Jagdish has brought laurels to the Islands by winning the Gold Medal in the “24th Sub-Junior and 6th Inter-State Challenge Sprint National Rowing Championship” held at Hyderabad from November 18 to 22.
Shri. S. Jagdish is a residential athlete of Sports Authority of India, STC Port Blair who is studying at GSSS Model. He has displayed unwavering commitment, determination, and passion in the National Rowing Championship which led him to victory.

Aadhya shares about her experience working with her co-stars, she said, “It’s always great working with co-stars who are great friends. It’s an extended holiday and celebration all the time.
