Prime Video Continues its Masterclass Series with an Interactive Session at the SRFTI, Kolkata
MUMBAI — October 18, 2023— Prime Video, India’s most loved entertainment destination, successfully conducted a highly insightful masterclass on Creating Period Dramas for New Age Audiences at the Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute (SRFTI), Kolkata. This is Prime Video’s second masterclass, following the maiden edition at FTII, Pune, and is a testament to Prime Video’s commitment to strengthening India’s creative economy as outlined in the Letter of Engagement (LoE) inked earlier this year between Amazon India and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB). Graced by Shri Vikram Sahay, Joint Secretary, MIB, this masterclass featured award-winning filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane and the highly versatile actor Sidhant Gupta, both representing the much-loved Amazon Originals series Jubilee, as well as Nikhil Madhok, Head of Hindi Originals, Prime Video, India.
Building on the global success of Amazon Original Series Jubilee, this masterclass explored the art of creating outstanding period dramas such as this acclaimed series. Panelists provided insights into the creative process behind conceptualizing historical narratives that resonate with contemporary audiences. The session underscored streaming’s transformative role in storytelling and filmmaking, offering diverse opportunities for creative and technical talent to experiment with various formats, themes, and genres.

Vikramaditya Motwane, Creator and Director of the Amazon Original series Jubilee, shared his perspective on writing multi-genre stories, “In the case of Jubilee, it was a conscious decision to merge the period drama with a murder mystery. Murder mystery as a genre has always been popular, it is one of my favourites. And I believe that if the story and characters resonate with the audience, the audience gets invested in what happens next – then episodic cliffhangers will get them to click on the next episode and encourage them to keep watching.”
Sidhant Gupta, who garnered immense popularity after his role in Jubilee as Jay Khanna, talked about the need for research to build a character in a period drama, “Research is everything in a period drama. I led with curiosity and responsibility which made me feel safe and kept the fun alive. Start slowly, start with small questions and the big questions will find us. It’s living the dream and the process demands some heavy lifting. Playing a character is an endless finding, I can only ever feel prepared enough to be able to surrender. I believe it is okay to ask as many questions as you want while researching – by the time we reach the set, we don’t feel dependent – which is an unnecessary burden on the director.”
Prime Video will be hosting additional masterclasses as part of its Letter of Engagement with MIB, at leading film institutions across the nation in the coming months.

Data Patterns Inks Strategic ToT Agreement With In-Space
Chennai, October 17, 2023: Data Patterns (India) Limited (NSE: DATAPATTNS | BSE: 543428), a vertically integrated Defence and Aerospace electronics solutions provider, has announced a Licensing and Transfer of Technology (ToT) agreement with IN-SPACe, a single-window, independent, nodal agency that functions as an autonomous agency in the Department of Space (DoS). This agreement will provide Data Patterns with miniature SAR Radar capability.
The ToT agreement was signed by Mr. G. Kuppuswamy, Vice President, Data Patterns (India) Limited Mr. Rajeev Jyoti, Technical Director, IN-SPACe, and Mr. A. Arunachalam, Director, NSIL.
The technology has been developed at the Space Applications Centre (SAC), ISRO, and is the forerunner of ISRO’s upcoming high-resolution SAR satellite, the NISAR, and made available for ToT to the industry by IN-SPACe.
Commenting on the partnership, Mr. G. Kuppuswamy said, “We are delighted to be associated with IN-SPACe. This technology will enable SAR radar development by Data Patterns, complementing the large portfolio of Radars already available from the company. Data Patterns expects to enhance this technology with its capability with Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for object detection and classification. This alliance is also a step towards utilizing India’s space resources better and increasing space-based activities.”
With the Indian space ecosystem and economy opening up on account of major policy changes initiated by the Government of India, both Data Patterns and IN-SPACe will leverage their knowledge, expertise, and skills to capitalize on the opportunities coming up.

Kolhapur, 17th October 2023: AquaKraft today announced the launch of SWACHH-INN, a livelihood generation innovation at Mahalaxmi Temple, Kolhapur, Maharashtra. SWACHH INN is a combination of a Water ATM, Hand wash, and Pantry aimed at providing Healthy Water and healthy Food at the most accessible prices to the common man. SWACHH INN has been sponsored by RBL Bank under their CSR Initiatives.
SWACHH INN will be operated and managed by Women Self Help Groups registered under the UMED program of the National Rural Livelihood Mission. First edition of the SFA Championships in Jaipur brings female athletes to the centre-stage with ‘She is Gold’
Jaipur, October 17th, 2023: As Day 3 of the SFA Championships unfolded in Jaipur, “She is Gold” took center-stage, celebrating the prowess and determination of female athletes. The day was marked by the participation of more than 250 female athletes from across the state, competing with zeal on the track, the courts an in racquet sports, at the iconic Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
The basketball courts looked glorious with female athlete contingent across schools competing to bring their school on the leaderboard. The U-11 team in basketball (for girls) saw Cambridge Court World School bag all three podium positions and a gold in the U-18 team in basketball, as well! The U-16 team in basketball (for girls) had SS International School pick bronze in the game.
Athletics set the mood for the day with events spanning the 100m, 300m, and 600 m categories for boys and girls from U-12 to U-18. From the nail-biting heats to the pulsating finals, the track echoed with spirit of competition. The U-14 in 100m girls, saw the top three positions going to Cambridge Court World School, with Adwita Sharma at number one, followed by Naisha Malaviya and Nayani Vijay at second and third positions respectively. The U-14 100m boys saw an interesting mix of schools, with Daksh Jangir from Dharav High School bagging gold, Prabhav Singh Rathore picking silver and Dhananjay Soni taking home the bronze.
On the badminton courts, young shuttlers in the U-11 to U-15 male and U-11 and U-13 female categories showcased their agility and precision, keeping the spectators on the edge of their seats. Football had its moments of glory, as the U-10 and U-12 boys delved deep into their league matches, pushing their limits with every pass and goal. Kabaddi was a highlight with the U-14 girls engaged in gripping league matches, foreshadowing the promise of exhilarating action in the upcoming rounds. Additionally, the anticipation is mounting as the finals for U-14 and U-19 boys, as well as U-14 girls, are scheduled for tomorrow, ensuring a day filled with nail-biting competition and thrilling moments.
Nandini Jyoti, an athlete from Maharishi Arvind School, said, ‘’I pursue this path because I love running. My experience has been very good, and I plan to take sports as a career. I look forward to participate in the SFA Championship again. While I don’t have one specific rival, my ultimate goal is to break the PT Usha Challenge and win a medal for India.”
As the championships progress, Day 4 promises to elevate the level of excitement. Ankura Hospital’s Dr. VVS Chandrasekharam represents India at the World Congress of Hypospadias International Society in Turkey
Hyderabad: 17th October 2023: Dr. VVS Chandrasekharam, Chief Paediatric Surgeon and Paediatric Urologist of Ankura Hospital for Women and Children has made the country proud by representing India as an invited faculty member at the recently concluded ‘World Congress of Hypospadias International Society (HIS)’ in Turkey. Dr. Chandrasekharam delivered a guest lecture on hypospadias, chaired scientific sessions, and participated in several discussions with experts on the subject from all across the globe on the nuances of hypospadias surgery. He and his team from Ankura Hospital also presented two research papers on hypospadias during the congress, which talked about the outcomes of the repair of severe hypospadias.
Dr. Chadrasekharam’s efforts and contributions to hypospadias were appreciated by all at the meeting. He was unanimously proposed and elected as the Executive Committee member of HIS, which is an honour for our country. He had emerged as the preeminent expert in hypospadias from India on the international stage during the World Congress.

Phillip Island awaits the Repsol Honda Team
Australia, October 17, 2023: The non-stop schedule of the 2023 World Championship season keeps on coming as the Repsol Honda Team head to the most southernly GP of the year.
A short flight and a quick drive from Lombok to Melbourne and down to Phillip Island and Round 16, the Australian Grand Prix, is already here. The Repsol Honda Team are aiming to use the quick turnaround between races to help turn their fortunes after an ultimately unrewarding weekend in Mandalika. Redemption now calls at a circuit famous for tantalizingly close battles and unique situations.
Phillip Island is a track which has traditionally treated Marc Marquez and the Honda RC213V well, the combination taking three wins there in 2015, 2017, and 2019 – making the #93 Honda’s most successful rider around the 4.45km long track. Outside of these wins, Marquez scored a podium at the track last year – his 100th in the premier class with the Repsol Honda Team. Consistency across the weekend will be key, even if the weather looks set to be as volatile as ever.
Joan Mir arrives in Australia, the scene of his World Championship debut back in 2015, with his trademark positivity intact. Despite a late fall while showing some of his best race pace of the year, the #36 arrives happy with what he achieved and remains confident that there is more to come. Phillip Island was also the scene of Joan Mir’s first World Championship, winning the 2017 Moto3 crown on the Honda NSF250RW.
As always, the weather, and particularly the gusty winds, will be a critically important factor to monitor over the course of the Grand Prix weekend. Forecasts suggest it will certainly be a cooler weekend than the consistent 30°C and higher that the World Championship experienced in Indonesia.

“Phillip Island is a circuit with a lot of good memories for me. The place is something really unique on the MotoGP calendar and I have also enjoyed many memorable races there. Last year we got a really good podium there, my 100th in the premier class. It will be important to have a good plan for all scenarios.”

“I think everyone enjoys Phillip Island, so I am looking forward to getting there. On paper, Indonesia didn’t look great but honestly, when you look deeper and especially at our pace on Sunday – we need to see the positives and look to make it happen again this weekend. Now we come to one of those tracks where almost anything can happen, on track and in the sky, so let’s begin! It’s an intense schedule to end the year so we have to keep focused to finish well.”

Kiara Advani Gets Candid About Her Films, Characters, Love Life and A Lot More In Femina’s October 2023 Issue

Sharing her views about her films, Kiara says, “Today, when I meet people, it feels nice when they want to work with me or that they’ve written a role keeping me in mind. The difference is that, instead of four, I have 10 scripts to choose from.”
Speaking about her characters and their impact on life, Kiara reveals, “I have never played a character I didn’t like. If I don’t like my character, I better not be doing the movie. I believe I am discovering various aspects of myself through my work. I am evolving with each film, not just as an actor but as a person.”
Talking about her husband Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara adds, “We are both self-made actors and have earned our spaces in the industry on our own. It’s something that we’ve put so much hard work into that we would not want it to be taken away by having the focus shift to our personal lives.”
