TSHA Ensures Robust Readiness of Public and Private Sectors to Handle Dengue Outbreaks

Hyderabad, September 12, 2024…… As the Dengue season sets in later than usual this year, the Telangana Specialty Hospitals Association (TSHA) assures the public that both the Public and Private Healthcare Sectors are well-prepared to effectively manage and treat dengue cases. While it is too early to determine the full impact and potential complications of dengue this season, we are closely monitoring the situation said R. Govind Hari, General Secretary of TSHA.

R GOVIND HARI PIC

Currently, Chikungunya cases have outnumbered Dengue, and we are also seeing a significant number of cases of Flu A, RSV, and enteric fever infections. Encouragingly, Dengue appears to be evolving into a milder illness, likely due to greater awareness among Doctors & Parents & Civil Society & more importantly the Government’s Preventive & Awareness Programs, leading to early detection and management.

Our experience in the private healthcare sector in Telangana indicates that Chikungunya is more prevalent than Dengue, and dengue cases are not becoming overly complicated. This may be attributed to increased awareness and better hydration practices among the population. It is important to note that accurate diagnosis through appropriate testing is crucial to avoid assumptions based on symptoms alone.

Most of the seasonal viral infections can be managed with basic first aid, and we urge citizens, especially the parents of young children not to overuse Antibiotics, as they are not effective against viral infections and can lead to complications.

To combat the spread of Dengue and Chikungunya, we emphasize the importance of eliminating stagnant water around homes, as this is where mosquitoes breed. If you or your child develops high fever with or without rashes or joint pains, please consult a doctor promptly. Symptomatic treatment with Paracetamol, proper hydration, and identifying warning signs are key to effective management.

The Government of Telangana is actively working to raise public awareness about mosquito control and is implementing measures to prevent mosquito breeding. Remember, there is no specific medicine for Dengue; supportive and symptomatic care is essential. In severe cases, such as Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) in Dengue, treatments like steroids or IV immunoglobulin may be administered in the ICU.

We assure you that “THERE IS NO NEED TO PANIC” because all necessary precautions and infrastructure are in place both in Public & Private Sectors to manage dengue and other seasonal illnesses effectively. Stay vigilant, practice preventive measures, and seek medical advice when needed.

Legendary goalkeeper, Arjuna awardee footballer Subrata Paul joins Woxsen University as Executive Fellow

-His joining aligns with the institution’s larger vision of building a strong sporting culture with the best facilities at the educational level, supporting players in building careers in sports.

Arjuna awardee footballer Subrata Paul

Hyderabad, 11 September 2024: One of India’s greatest goalkeepers and Arjuna Awardee footballer, Subrata Paul, has joined Woxsen University as an Executive Fellow. The former Indian captain will inspire students and share his experiences from his 15-year international playing career, touching on topics such as team building, goalkeeping, captaincy, playing across the world, winning the Golden Glove, coaching, and life off the field. Paul will motivate students by discussing themes of hard work, perseverance, leadership, winning, and much more. Additionally, he will assist in advancing consultancy in sports at the University in various areas as needed.

The legendary footballer is widely regarded as the greatest Indian goalkeeper of all time. Nicknamed the ‘Spiderman’ by the Australian, Korean, and Asian media for his exploits in the 2011 Asian Cup in Doha, Paul is the only Indian footballer to have been given a nickname by the international media. His joining Woxsen University aligns with both his and the institution’s larger vision of building a strong sporting culture at the educational level, supporting Indian players in building careers in sports, and carving a niche for themselves on the international stage.

Reflecting on his journey and the opportunities provided by Woxsen University, Paul said, “I had heard about the sporting facilities at Woxsen University, and once I visited, I was pleasantly amazed at what has been built. Kudos to the management for having the vision and willingness to take on the social responsibility of providing the best for all students. As a kid, I mostly played on grounds devoid of grass and often littered with pebbles. Students here are lucky to have such infrastructure. This is the best university sporting facility I have ever seen. I’ve been fortunate to travel all over the world, but this one ranks at the top among most universities.”

On incorporating sports education into the curriculum of schools and higher educational institutions, Paul emphasized the importance of making sports compulsory. He stated, “We need to have compulsory periods for sports. Unless a student passes in sports, they shouldn’t be given a degree. Every day, for around 90 minutes, everyone needs to go out and play. They may not all turn into professional players, but sports make you a better individual. It’s high time every educational institution started giving extra credits for sports. This has been long overdue, and we keep speaking about it.“

Notably, Paul has played in Denmark for Vestsjaelland and for all leading clubs in India, including Mohun Bagan, East Bengal, Salgaocar, Pune FC, Hyderabad FC, Mumbai City FC, NEUFC, and Jamshedpur FC, others. Currently, he also owns a professional team, runs his own academy, coaches underprivileged kids at his own expense, engages in philanthropic activities, and supports the underprivileged.

Lam Research Adds 20 India Universities to Initiative to Upskill Future Semiconductor Talent Via Semiverse™ Solutions Virtual Infrastructure

Marks a major milestone in Company’s efforts to train a targeted 60,000 engineers over 10 years

Bengaluru/Noida, India – September 11, 2024 – Lam Research Corp. (Nasdaq: LRCX) announced today that 20 Indian universities will be enabled with the Semiverse Solutions virtual innovation infrastructure to train and develop future engineers for the semiconductor industry. Announced at the SEMICON India conference at Noida, the addition marks a major milestone in Lam’s efforts introduced in 2023, to contribute to upskilling up to 60,000 engineers over the next 10 years in India. Twenty universities were shortlisted from a list of close to 75 that have signed up for the program.

“Lam is committed to fostering the growth of the Indian semiconductor ecosystem. The addition of Semiverse Solutions virtual semiconductor environments to the selected 20 academic institutions will reach more than 2,600 students this academic year across the country and demonstrates significant progress towards our initiatives to help ready the next generation of semiconductor talent in India,” said Rangesh Raghavan, corporate vice president and general manager at Lam Research India.

Closing the Semiconductor Talent Gap in India

The semiconductor industry faces a major talent shortage to meet anticipated future demand. Educating future semiconductor engineers is even more daunting as it is cost-prohibitive for academic institutions to provide physical access to the most advanced nanotechnologies. Simulating real-world labs virtually provides greater democratization of engineering skills training, improved sustainability, and greater access to new talent pools in an increasingly computer-aided design world.

After a successful pilot at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Lam signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding with the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) and IISc for the broad deployment of Semiverse Solutions to key universities in the country. Lam has previously announced a contribution of $29 million in software licenses towards the MoU, while ISM would support the establishment of infrastructure and operational costs. IISc will “train-the-trainers” at the selected universities, while Lam will deploy a dedicated team of employees to support the expansion across the country.

“Launched during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to the US in 2023, the Semiverse Solutions training program is critical to achieving our skilling objectives to develop the talent needed to support the anticipated growth of the semiconductor industry,” said Akash Tripathi, CEO, ISM. “This program is an excellent example of what can be achieved when government, industry, and academia work towards a common end.”

The 20 universities will be enabled to use SEMulator3D®, a powerful 3D semiconductor process and integration modelling software that is part of the Semiverse Solutions™ platform, with a goal to accelerate India’s semiconductor education and workforce development objectives. The software is used by the world’s largest semiconductor companies, manufacturers, and foundries to model complete process flows and predict downstream ramifications of process changes that would otherwise require build-and-test cycles in the fab. Using SEMulator3D® is expected to help students learn to develop process flows and perform automated virtual experiments at significantly lower cost, and environmental impact.

“Students at IISc have realized exceptional value through the SEMulator3D enabled program and we are excited to replicate the success of the pilot and significantly improve the employability of graduates and post-graduate students in semiconductor manufacturing across the country,” said Professor Srinivasan Raghavan, chair of the Centre for Nano Science and Engineering at IISc.

Lam Continues Leadership Role in Accelerating the India Semiconductor Ecosystem

Today’s announcement is the latest in a series of actions from Lam intended to foster innovation, collaboration and the pipeline of talent in India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem. Earlier this week, the company launched the Lam Research Challenge competition to inspire university engineering students and broke ground in Bengaluru on what is expected to be one of the most advanced systems labs in the country at Lam’s India Center for Engineering – a new facility that will expand capabilities for designing, on-tool testing, and validation of semiconductor manufacturing processes, thereby potentially shortening engineering design cycles. Lam also announced earlier this year its plans to expand its global supply chain to include India and is exploring India-based suppliers who can collaborate to fulfil the need for precision components, custom parts, high purity gas delivery systems and other assemblies that go into cutting-edge semiconductor wafer fabrication equipment.
