Chennai-Based Holoware Computers Ventures into Laptop Market
06 May 2024, Chennai, India: Holoware is an emerging computer manufacturing company headquartered in Chennai. Started in 2020, the company currently manufactures and supplies products like desktop computers, tablets, mini pc’s and workstations. These new series of laptops and tablet have been manufactured under the guidelines of Holoware’s own research and development department. It is significant that Holoware operates its own dedicated research and development facility focused on the computer hardware sector.
Holoware Started with the vision of innovating Holographic Computer i.e. computer without monitor and use air as monitor with projection to touch, feel and control objects like usually do in regular touch computers. Holoware is now planning to open 20 exclusive experience centers across India by the end of this financial year. The company reported that they are showing growth of 200% YoY since its inception.

DPS RN Extension Hosts a Mesmerising Odissi Dance Recital by Renowned Artist Ms. Kavita Dwibedi
Under the aegis of SPIC MACAY, Delhi Public School Raj Nagar Extension, hosted a delightful Odissi performance by the renowned Odissi exponent, Ms. Kavita Dwibedi in the school auditorium. SPIC MACAY spreads awareness about the classical music and cultural heritage of India among young minds. Ms. Kavita Dwibedi, a recipient of several prestigious awards, graced the stage with her profound understanding and expertise in the Odissi dance form.
The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by a warm welcome of Ms. Kavita Dwibedi by the school’s Principal, Ms. Pallavi Upadhyaya. Accompanied by Shri Vishwanath Mangaraj, Shri Sukanta Nayak, Shri Gopinath Swain and Kumari Anushua Chowdhury, Kavita Ji’s performance left the audience spellbound. Happy Vibrations – A solo show of Artist Ghanshyam Gupta
New Delhi, 06th May, 2024: The Lexicon Art organised “Happy Vibrations”, a solo show of Ghanshyam Gupta at M -12, Connaught Place New Delhi- 110001. The show’s name alluded to a phrase that Ghanshyam often uses to qualify his paintings. He suggested that every emotion and feeling we experience emits a certain vibrational frequency and positive emotions, such as joy, love, gratitude, and contentment, vibrate at higher frequencies.
The chief guest at the event was Padma Shri & Padma Bhushan Raja & Radha Reddy and Kaushalya Reddy. The exhibition would remain open for all from 04th May to 03rd June, 2024 (Monday to Saturday from 11 am to 07 pm).

Akshay Tritiya Parna Mahotsav is to be held in the city
Hyderabad, May 06, 2024: About 100 Jains, who fasted alternate days for the past year to end their fasting on 10th May in a function to be held in the city.
A function called Akshay Tritiya Parna Mahotsav will be held to mark the occasion. It is being organised under the guidance of Jain Guru Dr Samkit Muni Ji and two other Jain Monks. On this day about 700 Jains from across India such as Nashik, Pune, Jodhpur, Karnataka, and Chennai including 32 from Hyderabad are expected to participate in the same. They will end their year-long alternate fasting with sugar cane juice disclosed by Swarupchand Kothari, Gautam Chand Dank, Sajjan Gandhi, Annaraj Bafna and Vinod Kimtee, the office bearers of the organising body.
Before breaking their fasting, they will march in a km-long procession from Saibaba Temple in Gudi Malkapur to Dadawadi Jain Temple Karawan on 10 May. 20 Chariots will participate in the procession.
About 4000 people are expected to participate in this Mahotsav which starts on May 9th and ends on May 10th
In Jainism, Akshaya Tritiya is important as it commemorates the first Tirthankara, Rishab dev Bhagwan, ending his one-year asceticism(severe self-discipline and avoiding all forms of indulgence) by consuming sugarcane juice poured into his cupped hands. Some Jains refer to the festival as Akashya Tritiya Parna Mahotsav. The ascetic practices include simple living, begging, fasting and ethical practices such as humility, compassion, meditation, patience and prayer. Akshay Tritiya Parna Mahotsav brings to an end to such a year-long strict self-discipline.

Rotary Club of Delhi South and The Earth Saviours Foundation Inaugurate New Home for the Elderly
Gurugram, 06 May 2024 – The Rotary Club of Delhi South (RCDS), together with The Earth Saviours Foundation (TESF), inaugurated a new old age home in Mandawar village, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s ongoing commitment to provide shelter and care for the elderly in the community.
India is witnessing a significant demographic shift with a rapidly increasing elderly population. According to recent reports, the number of senior citizens aged 60 and above has been steadily rising. As of 2023, it is estimated that over 140 million of India’s population comprises senior citizens. This proportion is projected to continue growing in the coming years, making it crucial to address the challenges faced by this demographic. Factors such as familial neglect, low education levels, socio-cultural beliefs and stigma, low trust in institutionalized healthcare services and affordability hamper access to care for the elderly.
TESF, founded by the late Karma Yogi Shri Ravi Kalra and now ably managed by his son Shri Jas Kalra, has a long-standing commitment to caring for the elderly. The Vridha Ashram in the Mandawar village alone houses over 400 elders who have been abandoned by their families. TESF provides them with care, including healthy meals, medical attention, and a sense of belonging.
The new block, constructed with assistance from Rotary members comprises of two floors and a total area of 3,000 square feet, offering comfortable living space for 48-50 elders. Equipped with essential amenities like toilets, shower rooms, lighting, fans, air coolers, and beds, the facility aims to provide a dignified living environment for the elders.
Speaking at the occasion, the chief guest Rtn. Ajeet Jalan, District Governor 2026-27 of District 3011, India said, “We are proud of the Rotary Club of Delhi South which is celebrating its 55th anniversary. They are at the forefront of community services be it Leprosy. Polio, nari shakti, or providing shelter for elders. With the successful completion of this project, we yet again create hope in the world with the magic of Rotary.”
Expressing his thoughts, Rotarian Pramod Agarwal, President 2023-24 of RCDS said that “In a country like India, which is known for its respect for the elderly population, it is an unfortunate reality that they’re leading isolated and neglected lives. Rotary Club of Delhi South has joined hands with TESF to collectively work towards bettering the life of homeless and vulnerable elderly population by providing them with the necessary care and support to lead a dignified life.”
Shri Jas Kalra from TESF said, “This project is slated to become the world’s largest center dedicated to providing shelter and support for over 5,000 elderly, homeless, and destitute individuals in need. I am grateful to the Rotary Club members for their unwavering support in building a shelter at Mandawar Sewa Dham. Their generosity is a beacon of hope as we strive to uplift the lives of the less fortunate. With their kindness guiding us, we can rise above the challenges of today and pave the way for a brighter future for all.”

Tata Power Renewable Energy Signs PPA with SJVN for 460 MW Renewable Energy Project
Bangalore, 6th May, 2024: Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a leading entity in India’s renewable energy landscape and a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with SJVN Limited (SJVN), an Indian Public Sector Undertaking (PSU), for a 460 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) Project.
The plant, designed to meet the 460 MW FDRE requirement, integrates solar, wind, and battery storage technologies to ensure efficient energy dispatch during peak hours, thereby stabilizing the grid. FDRE enables round-the-clock power supply, assisting Distribution Companies (Discoms) in fulfilling Renewable Purchase Obligations (RPO) and Energy Storage Obligations (ESO). This win marked TPREL’s inaugural success in the FDRE tender, highlighting its commitment to providing reliable and sustainable energy solutions.
Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Deepesh Nanda, CEO and Managing Director, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, said, “This partnership with SJVN Limited will witness the deployment of best-in-class sustainable energy solutions from TPREL. It will go a long way in meeting the green energy objectives of SJVN Limited. By integrating diverse renewable energy sources and leveraging the importance of Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE), the collaboration will ensure a dependable power supply and also actively contribute to India’s ambitious renewable energy targets.”

The plant is anticipated to generate approximately 3,000 MUs of power while offsetting around ~2200 Mn. Kgs of CO2 emissions annually.
With addition, the total renewables capacity of TPREL has reached 9,421 MW (PPA capacity is 7,978 MW) including 4,906 MW projects under various stages of implementation. The Company’s operational capacity stands at 4,515 MW, which includes 3,485 MW solar and 1,030 MW wind.
Presently, the Company’s solar EPC portfolio is more than 12.8 GWp of ground-mount utility-scale, over 2 GW of rooftop and distributed ground-mounted systems and over 1,00,000 solar water pumps. TPREL is committed to providing energy access to millions of people across the country via its integrated green energy solutions.

Fernandez Foundation Celebrates International Day of the Midwife
Hyderabad, May 6, 2024: Fernandez Foundation proudly marked the International Day of the Midwife with celebratory events held at Fernandez Stork Home (Banjara Hills) and Fernandez Hospital (Bogulkunta) today. The Foundation, a pioneer in introducing midwifery to the Telugu states since 2017, hosted senior consultants from Fernandez Hospital, alongside parents, healthcare professionals, and seasoned midwives.
The centerpiece of the celebration was the captivating ‘Tree of Life,’ symbolising growth, connection, and nurturing—a fitting tribute to the ethos of midwifery. Attendees were treated to a special Midwifery Open House, offering an exclusive glimpse into the world of midwifery-led natural births. Experienced midwives guided expectant mothers through a comprehensive overview of midwifery care, providing insights into the tools, practices, and philosophies that shape a positive birth experience.
Pregnant mothers had the opportunity to explore exercises tailored to nurture their body and spirit, fostering a blissful birth journey. Interactive sessions facilitated direct engagement with experienced midwives, who shared their expertise on natural birthing methods. Attendees also experienced relaxation techniques such as Aromatherapy and Water birth, aimed at alleviating labor pains.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Evita Fernandez, Chairperson and Managing Director of Fernandez Foundation said that “I dream of a world where every pregnant woman will be able to access a midwife, and only if required will see an obstetrician or other specialists depending on her situation.”

Honda kick starts its Women empowerment initiative
Gurugram, 06th May 2024: Honda proudly announced the commencement of its “Stree सारथी…steering her own path” women empowerment initiative and commemorated first training batch for female cab drivers at its Institute of Driving Training and Research, Karnal. This is in alignment with the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Honda’s Institute of Driving Training & Research (IDTR) being the training partner, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) being the nodal agency and Kedman Skilling Private Limited being the mobilization partner. In addition, BluSmart Mobility has tied up with NSDC to further provide employment to these skilled female cab drivers.
The “Stree सारथी…steering her own path “initiative launched by Honda aims to empower women by providing them with opportunities for economic independence and creating avenues in the new domain, such as transportation. Through this initiative, IDTR aims to upskill over 250 female participants, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and expertise to pursue their careers.
The training program at IDTR includes diverse aspects such as Interactive theory sessions covering road safety rules and defensive driving techniques, Advanced Driving Simulators to hone skills and practice in simulated environment, a dedicated driving lab equipped with advanced technology for skill development, On-track Driving training on a professionally designed driving track, focusing on precision manoeuvres, obstacle avoidance and real-world driving scenarios, and Automated Driving Testing Track to familiarize trainees with the latest testing procedures and equipment. The first batch of this innovative training program underwent intensive training to equip themselves with the knowledge and expertise to excel as cab drivers within the automotive domain.
