Banaswadi Traffic Police and Traffic Warden Organisation Conduct Traffic Awareness Program
Bengaluru,8th February 2024: In a proactive effort to enhance road safety and raise awareness about traffic regulations, the Banaswadi Traffic Police in collaboration with the Traffic Warden Organisation conducted a comprehensive Road Safety and Traffic Awareness Program at Trilife Hospital today. The awareness program was conducted by Traffic Warden Mr. Satish Rao and Mr. Chetan, in the presence of Mr. Manjunatha, Inspector, Banaswadi Traffic Police Station, Mr. Muralidhar, Chief Warden, Bangalore City Traffic Warden Organisation, Asst. Sub Inspector Mr. Srinivas and Dr. Shafiq A M, Director and CEO, Trilife Hospital.
With the objective of reducing road accidents and promoting responsible driving behaviour, the training program featured informative sessions led by dedicated traffic wardens who enlightened the audience about crucial traffic rules and emphasized the importance of adhering to them for the safety of all road users. During the program, participants were educated on essential do’s and dont’s while driving and riding, emphasizing the significance of defensive driving techniques, adherence to speed limits, proper lane discipline, and the importance of using safety equipment such as helmets and seat belts.
One of the key highlights of the session was the discussion on the Good Samaritan Law, which encourages bystanders to offer immediate assistance to accident victims without fear of legal repercussions. This law serves as a vital tool in fostering a culture of compassion and prompt response during emergencies on the road.

Previously, Nagaland has also produced some great sportsmen like Dr. T Ao (the first captain of the Indian Olympic football team) and Chekrovolu Swuro (Olympian archer and Arjuna Awardee).

Large Indian Genome wide study identifies key genes for Parkinson disease…
Hyderabad, February 08, 2024: A new study conducted by MedGenome, a leading global genomics company in South Asia, together with Parkinson’s Research Alliance of India (PRAI) found that rare genetic variations along with common variants derived through polygenic risk score (PRS) can detect Young Onset of Parkinson’s Disease (YOPD). A pilot study was published through this collaboration in the 2022 July edition of the Advanced Biology journal with 100 whole genome of Parkinson’s Disease patients [1]. The new study validated the existing knowledge along with new findings on the genetics of Parkinson’s disease which got published in the prestigious journal, Movement Disorders.
This is a first-of-a-kind study conducted in India aimed to initiate a population-based genetic analysis of Young Onset Parkinson’s disease (YOPD) in Indian population. The Genetics of PAN-India Young Onset Parkinson Disease (GOPI-YOPD), a multicentre Pan India project- recruited 1000 patients through a network of 10 specialty Movement Disorder Centers/Neurology clinics across India.
The research paper investigates genetic variations associated with young-onset Parkinson’s disease (YOPD) in the Indian population. The study validates existing findings from European populations and identifies major genetic mutations in genes such as PRKN (13%), GBA, PINK1, and LRRK2 with a notable discovery of rare South Asia-specific mutation in the GBA gene, including p.Ser164Arg, confirmed through experimental research. This mutation is not seen in other populations. The study aggregates the common genetic variations into a polygenic risk score (PD-PRS), introducing a genetic screening test for assessing the risk of developing Parkinson’s disease. This comprehensive analysis of rare and common genetic variations in YOPD in the Indian population enhances the understanding of the genetic basis of Parkinson’s disease and introduces a novel genetic screening approach to assess disease risk. This opens door for a first-ever genetic screening in India for Parkinson’s Disease in high-risk individuals and affected families. The results can be evaluated by clinicians and geneticists to guide patients in early intervention, disease risk mitigation, and better treatment strategies.
The genomic analysis for the study was done at MedGenome Labs using MedGenome’s SARGAM array (South Asian Research Genotyping Array for Medicine), which has curated content from a proprietary database of 2.5 million variants unique to the South Asian population which is not available in any publicly available genetic database.
Prof Rupam Borgohain, Secretary of Parkinson’s Research Alliance of India (PRAI) and Chairman, PDMDRC, Citi Neuro Centre, Hyderabad said, “Parkinson’s disease is a common neurological disorder causing tremors, slowness of movements, stiffness and walking difficulties in most. It is caused by a complex interaction between external environmental and familial or genetic factors. Based on the initiative of Dr Prashanth LK, Specialist in Movement disorders, Parkinsons disease and Movement disorders clinic, Bengaluru, a first of its kind- India wide registry of Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease (disease starting at age less than 50 years) was started by PRAI and resulted in insights into clinical and genetic aspects of Indian patients. Parkinson’s disease with onset less than 20 years (juvenile PD), 20-40 years (young onset PD) and 40-50 years (early onset PD) have different clinical features. The role of genetic factors seems to be higher in these patients compared to older age and this collaborative project of PRAI with MedGenome has identified unique genetic fingerprints in Indian patients.”
Dr Vedam Ramprasad, CEO, MedGenome said, “MedGenome has always been at the forefront of equipping clinicians and patients with the latest and most innovative tools in healthcare by leveraging the power of genomics. With the increased focus on personalised medicine, using risk screening tools such as Polygenic Risk Score (PRS) will enable us to predict an individual’s genetic liability to rare and inherited diseases much in advance before the symptoms start appearing. With these findings, we aim to offer a prognostic value to clinicians while catering to the need of a systematic genetic evaluations for timely prevention and management of several diseases.”
Parkinson’s disease is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder in adults in the age bracket of 60 years and above. The Global Burden of Disease Study (2018) states that the burden of Parkinson’s disease has doubled across the globe over the past two decades. India accounts for approximately 10% of the global burden, which translates to nearly 0.58 million patients living with the disease.

Quess Corp Divests Qdigi Services to Onsitego
Mumbai, India, February 7, 2024: Quess Corp Ltd, India’s leading business services provider, announced today that it has agreed to divest its wholly-owned subsidiary, Qdigi Services Limited, to Onsitego, India’s #1 device-care provider.
As part of the transaction, the entire team and business of Qdigi will be transferred to Onsitego. Quess will receive total cash consideration of ₹80 cr., subject to customary closing adjustments. Quess will be acquiring a minority stake in Onsitego. The transaction is expected to be completed over the next 2-3 months.

SOCIAL introduces Nestlé India’s new plant-based range in their New Irresistible menu
Nestlé India has collaborated with SOCIAL, India’s favorite neighbourhood café, to test launch MAGGI Professional’s plant-based range. The products have been used to craft The New Irresistible Menu, that is available at 41 SOCIAL and 40 BOSS Burger outlets across Delhi (NCR), Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune and Chandigarh for three months.
The plant-based range has been especially developed for chefs and features two offerings – a burger patty and mince, alternatives to meat-based meals. At BOSS Burger, the new menu includes options such as The ImBOSSible Cheeseburger – a plant-based cheeseburger that’s so bold and blockbuster, it will go beyond craving; and the Crumb De La Avo Burger – crumbed patty topped off with smashed avocado – bold, creamy, tasty and planti-ful.

Atmastco Limited to open its SME IPO in February 2024
7th, February 2024: ATMATSCO LIMITED, a leading Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) company, is pleased to announce the opening of its Initial Public Offering (IPO) for subscription in February this year. Headquartered in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, the company is offering 73,05,600 equity shares, comprising 54,80,000 equity shares as a fresh issue and 18,25,600 equity shares through an Offer for Sale (OFS). ATMATSCO LIMITED will be listed on the NSE EMERGE.
The proceeds from the IPO will be used for Working Capital requirements and repayment of loans in order to become a provider of technology solutions in the EPC sector to improve efficiency on existing and new contracts. The profit so generated from the EPC sector will be utilised towards the production of defence systems until September 2024 through its subsidiary Atmastco Defence Systems Private Limited.
With ongoing projects worth over Rs. 720 crores, the company has become consistently profitable over the last three financial years. The company recorded a remarkable 156% increase in revenue in FY 2022-23 as compared to the previous financial year. The key promoters of the company are Mr Subramaniam Swaminathan Iyer, Mr Venkataraman Ganesan and Ms Jayasudha Iyer, who have more than three decades of experience
Mr Subramaniam Swaminathan, Chairman and Managing Director, said, “I am proud of our company’s legacy since 1988, marked by more than 90 completed contracts and a flourishing order book of more than Rs 700 crore. With a pan-India presence, an annual capacity of more than 24,000 tonnes and a dedicated workforce of more than 250 employees, we are a mainstay in our industry. Our commitment to excellence and scale makes us one of the country’s leaders in installed capacity.”
Referring to the company’s ESG initiatives, Mr Subramaniam Swaminathan added, “About 75–80% of the company’s main power requirement is met through solar energy. The company is transforming the ERC environment by improving the technology and focusing on the ERC tech platform.”

Mr. Vijay Chander Iyer further said, “In 2020, we established Atmastco Defence Systems Private Limited to manufacture world-class bulletproof jackets, helmets and full body protectors for the military, including specialised protection gears for women defence personnel. We aim to provide the best possible protection for our defenders.”
ATMATSCO LIMITED boasts valued customers including the Ministry of Railways and major companies in the energy and steel sectors.
The lead manager of the issue is Affinity Global Capital Market Private Limited, while Cameo Corporate Services Limited will act as registrar for the issue. The Draft Prospectus (DP) has already been approved by the National Stock Exchange and the Company is planning to open the issue anytime soon.
