Fateh Education reveals over 78% of Indian students prioritise university rankings in their pursuit of international education
New Delhi, 16.01.2024: Fateh Education, a leading study abroad consultancy renowned for its expertise in the UK and Ireland market, conducted a comprehensive study pan-India with a sample size of more than 300 students who are studying overseas that has revealed that university rankings are still the main factor that influences Indian students who want to study abroad. The findings indicate a resounding preference for institutions with prestigious rankings, reflecting the significance attached to academic reputation. This preference for highly ranked institutions is also indicative that Indian students are unfamiliar with the local education system of their country of preference and rely heavily on rankings as a guide.
Other factors such as tuition fees, job opportunities, cost of living, availability of scholarships, and post-study work visa have also featured as important considerations for students when choosing a university. These factors are shown to greatly influence the expected overall experience and opportunities available to international students during their time at a university. Additionally, the cultural diversity and support services provided by an institution also play a significant role in attracting and retaining these students.
Commenting on the findings of the survey, Suneet Singh Kochar, CEO and Co- Founder of Fateh Education says, “Amidst changing visa norms and the impact of geopolitics on transnational education the one thing that remains clear is that quality Indian students continue to prioritise academic excellence. The primary objective for Indian students looking to study abroad remains the quest for superior universities and better professional prospects.”
Suneet further added, “Students need help making decisions that align with their personal strengths and professional aspirations while evaluating the state of the global market. While university rankings continue to be a good indicative parameter, more comprehensive support mechanisms by counsellors are necessary so that the
student can evaluate how the university will enable their career objectives.”
The survey delved into the multifaceted decision-making process, uncovering that the second most important parameter was tuition fees voted by 71% of the students followed by job opportunities voted by 65%, which is not surprising as India is a value-oriented and price-sensitive market. The fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth parameters considered were the cost of living (53%), post-study work visa availability (51%), course rankings (49%), university location (41%), and part-time work opportunities (31%). The results of this survey demonstrate the complex relationship between academic reputation, career possibilities, financial factors, and quality of life.
Universities looking to attract Indian students should take note of these findings as they underscore the necessity of investing in and enhancing their academic reputation. It is definitive that universities prioritizing efforts to improve their global rankings stand to gain a competitive advantage in attracting top-quality students from India.

Aneesh Jain is the founder of Four Leaf Clover (operating under the brand name ‘Gram Unnati’), a DPIIT-recognised agri value chain services company that aims at bridging major value gaps between institutional buyers and marginal farmers. Aneesh is a computer science engineer from IIT Kharagpur. He has over 13 years of experience in management consulting and social entrepreneurship, having worked with the likes of McKinsey, TechnoServe, IFC, and IFAD.
Gram Unnati was incorporated in 2013 to provide i) crop advisory services, ii) access to high quality agricultural inputs at low cost and iii) market linkages to marginal farmers along with iv) customized production, logistics and end-to-end quality control of agri produce to institutional buyers.
In 2009, Aneesh was introduced to the development sector through a Gates Foundation-funded project in Rajasthan. It was during his stint with the project that he understood the plight of the farmers and how the entire supply chain was suffering from value traps, leading to high cost-low yields for farmers and concerns around produce quality and traceability for buyers. Realizing the desperation of the industry, he started working towards creating a platform for innovating the structural nuances and effectively unlocking higher values for both the industry as well as the masses.
Aneesh has always envisioned a future where the agriculture sector, the largest provider of the livelihood with 60% of the country’s population depending on it, is better organized with minimal supply chain bottlenecks. Through Gram Unnati, he aspires to help every marginal farmer in understanding and producing as per the requirements of the industry, thereby enabling efficient engagement between the industry and the farmers.

The Education Sector plays a pivotal role in shaping the socio-economic landscape of any nation, and India is no exception. As we anticipate the Union Budget for the fiscal year 2024-25, expectations are high for substantial allocations to the education sector. Analyzing recent trends and allocations from the past years provides insights into the government’s priorities and potential initiatives.
In the context of the upcoming budget, the National Education Policy’s goal of allocating 6% of the country’s GDP towards education remains a key benchmark. Over the past decade, the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has demonstrated a commitment to bolstering the education sector through increased funding and targeted initiatives.
The Samagra Shiksha scheme, a flagship program focusing on holistic education, is expected to witness a significant boost in allocations. The fiscal year 2023 saw an allocation of 32,152 crores, and there are strong indications that this figure will rise to 37,354 crores in the upcoming fiscal year. This surge in funding underscores the government’s dedication to addressing various facets of the education sector, including infrastructure development, teacher training, and overall quality enhancement.
Eklavya Model Residential Schools, designed to provide quality education to marginalized and tribal communities, are poised to receive increased financial support. With an allocation of 2000 crores in FY23, the proposed budget for FY24 is an impressive 5943 crores. This substantial rise signals a strategic investment in expanding the reach of such residential schools, aiming to bridge educational gaps in historically underserved areas.
The Skill India Programme, a critical component of the government’s vision for a skilled workforce, is set to receive heightened attention. While specific figures for FY23 are not readily available, the proposed allocation for FY24 stands at 2,278 crores. This substantial increase emphasizes the government’s commitment to empowering the youth with essential skills, aligning with the evolving demands of the job market. These funds are expected to support the expansion of skill development programs, creating avenues for vocational training and enhancing employability.
It is encouraging to witness the government’s focus on key areas such as holistic education, outreach to marginalized communities, and skill development. These initiatives align with the broader goals of fostering an inclusive and skilled workforce, crucial for India’s progress in the 21st century. Indian Diaspora Global Advocates for Keep The Door Open Campaign: Seeks Dual Citizenship for the Global Indian Diaspora
New Delhi, January 14, 2024 – Indian Diaspora Global, a collective of Indian-origin individuals from diverse backgrounds, has launched the “Keep The Door Open” campaign, advocating for dual citizenship for the Indian Diaspora worldwide. The campaign aims to address the challenges faced by Indian migrants who, due to current regulations, have to relinquish their Indian citizenship when acquiring citizenship in another country.
To delve into the legal, constitutional, social, cultural, economic, and legislative aspects of dual citizenship in India, Indian Diaspora Global is organizing a consultation conference. This conference will take place at the Constitutional Club of India on January 16, 2023, starting at 3 pm.

BHARATEEYAM, an opera involving all the 300 students was performed to convey message Politicians should be like Rama
Hyderabad, January 14, 2024…. 27th Hemanth Utsav of Abhyasa Intl Residential School held at Shilpakala Vedika at Madhapur on Saturday. To mark the occasion and celebrate the same, a mega opera, “BHARATEEYA DNA”, an opera by a massive 300 students on a single stage held.
BHARAT stands for B-Blooming, H-Happiness, A-Abundant, R-Righteousness and T-Togetherness. DNA is the strength of Bharatiya. Where D stands for Dharma, N stands for Neeti and A is adhyatama.
The opera was organised in the backdrop of the Ram Temple Consecration in Ayodhya later this month, conveying a powerful message that one should become a RAMA casting their vote for the deserving person to have a righteous leader. It said our politicians shoudl be like Lord Rama.
300 students inspired the packed hall full of people with the righteous values of RAMA and DHARMA in their performance.

India’s situation is somewhat similar if you observe keenly. Democracy is in danger, People use money, power and manipulation. It’s not one righteous king ruled.
Everyone has to take up the responsibility of RAMA and it’s not one RAMA one should become a RAMA casting their vote to the deserving person to have a righteous leader. only then can we achieve the Ramrajya of our dreams becoming a reality? Later do not complain that this is not good and nothing is according to the dharma. Our country is in our hands, instead of complaining do the duty of being right.
