Chennai: October 10th, 2023: Adani Kattupalli Port inaugurated the Desiltation of Boat Parking Areas at Satthankuppam and Thirumalainagar Village. The initiative will provide adequate basic infrastructure facilities benefiting 346 families from the 14 fishermen villages. The pooja was done by Mr. Sudip Dasgupta, CEO – Adani Kattupalli & Ennore Port in the presence of the community members, traditional leaders, and panchayat administration. Adani Kattupalli Port dedicated to community and societal development, and this initiative provides an assistance to underprivileged people.

This is a significant challenge for fishermen during the monsoon periods and natural disasters when safeguarding their boats, which are crucial for their livelihood. The displacement and damage caused by heavy rain and unforeseen disasters can have a significant impact on their ability to earn a living. Community support and government initiatives can play a vital role in helping them protect their boats and recover from such challenges. The low water levels and silt deposition in boat parking areas from February to mid-October are indeed challenging for fishermen. Having to physically push and park their boats under such conditions can lead to injuries and additional hardships. It’s crucial for local authorities and communities to address these issues by dredging or maintaining the parking areas, ensuring the safety and well-being of the fishermen.

The Panchayat & traditional leaders of Satthankuppam, Gunangkuppam, Thirumalainagar, Sembasipalli, LightHouse Nadukuppam, Vairavankuppam, Pasiyavaram, Kulathumedu, Edamani Kuppam, Edamani Colony, Israel Nagar, Karimanal, Karayar Kuppam and Rahmad Nagar have approached Adani Kattupalli Port to help them in desilting their boat parking areas. Considering the needs of fishermen communities and to support their livelihood, Adani Kattupalli Port came forward to support the fishermen’s through its CSR programs.

Speaking on the occasion Adani Kattupalli management said, “This initiative is a progressive step undertaken by Adani Kattupalli Port as part of its community welfare initiative. The port had received a requisition from the villages for the inauguration of the desiltation of boat parking project at Satthankuppam and Thirumalainagar village. This project will benefit to 346 families of the 14 fishermen villages and this will provide the right facilities to local people to organize social and personal events without facing the trouble of travelling. We are extremely delighted to be a part of the village’s growth & happiness.”

Sustaining mental health in the startup world, Lessons from Founders

In the fast-paced world of startups, where innovation and entrepreneurship reign supreme, the mental well-being of founders often takes a backseat. However, these visionary entrepreneurs are not just architects of innovation but also the guardians of their own mental health. On this World Mental Health Day, we delve into the stories of startup founders who are prioritizing their inner strength and resilience to thrive in the midst of the entrepreneurial storm.

From mindfulness practices and spiritual journeys to prioritizing self-care and creating supportive work environments, these entrepreneurs are redefining success in entrepreneurship by placing their mental well-being at the forefront.

Amidst the entrepreneurial storm, startup founders are the architects of innovation, but let’s not forget, we’re also the guardians of our own mental well-being. On this World Mental Health Day, let’s build resilience into our business plans and prioritize our inner strength. Our journey to success is anchored in nurturing a healthy mind and fostering a supportive community. Together, we’ll not only innovate but also thrive amidst the storm – Anshul Khurana, Co-founder, Entitled Solutions

As startup founders, we’re constantly faced with demands and pressures that can easily overwhelm us, leaving little room for self-care and mental well-being. However, I’ve come to realize that taking care of ourselves is not a distraction from our entrepreneurial journey but rather an essential part of it. For me, prioritizing self-care has been a game-changer. It’s about pausing, breathing, and checking in with myself amidst the excitement and challenges of entrepreneurship. This not only benefits my mental well-being but also enhances my productivity and overall satisfaction on this incredible entrepreneurial journey – Sourabh Deorah, CEO & Co-Founder, Advantage Club

In the relentless pursuit of entrepreneurial success, startup founders are not just building businesses; they’re also crafting their own well-being strategies. At Zell Education, we recognize the importance of nurturing the mental health of our entrepreneurial community. Through our pioneering finance and accounts Ed-tech platform, we empower founders with the financial knowledge and tools they need to navigate the stormy seas of entrepreneurship while prioritizing their mental health. Because only when the mind is in balance can true innovation and prosperity thrive – Anant Bengani, Director, Zell Education

The key lesson I’d like to share from my entrepreneurial journey is the importance of maintaining consistency in your daily routine to weather the highs and lows. It’s also crucial to prioritize your mental, physical & spiritual well-being, and one effective way to do this is through meditation. For me, the practice of Nichiren Daishonin Buddhism, which centers around the concepts of Human Revolution and cause and effect, has been transformative. It has helped me strike a balance between my professional and personal life, emphasize self-care, and continue my personal growth journey. These principles have served as my steadfast pillars of strength, providing stability amid the relentless challenges of entrepreneurship. – Saurabh Arora, Founder & CEO, University Living

Success in entrepreneurship is not solely determined by the number of deals closed or revenue generated; it is also deeply intertwined with our mental well-being and the value it adds in our professional lives. For me, it starts with recognizing the importance of recharging. I make it a priority to take time off, disconnect from work, and engage in activities that bring me joy and relaxation. This allows me to return to my ventures with renewed energy and a clear mindset. I ensure implementing self-care practices that promote my well-being, whether it’s exercising, practicing mindfulness, or pursuing hobbies that bring me fulfillment. Fostering a healthy work environment has also been crucial. I believe in creating a culture of support, open communication, and collaboration. – Rohit Gupta, COO, College Vidya

As entrepreneurs, we are driven by passion, ambition, and the desire to create something meaningful. However, in the pursuit of our goals, we must not forget the significance of our mental well-being. Surrounding myself with a strong support system of family, friends, and mentors who understand the entrepreneurial journey has been invaluable. Creating a positive work environment has been essential for maintaining my mental resilience. By fostering a culture of open communication, collaboration, and respect, I’ve built a team that not only shares my vision but also supports one another’s well-being. It’s about celebrating wins, learning from failures, and growing together – Anil Agarwal, CEO & Co-Founder, InCruiter

In managing an always-on digital agency as a woman founder, while juggling the responsibilities of a mother, prioritizing mental health isn’t a choice; it’s a necessity. Blocking dedicated time for critical tasks, prioritizing what’s really important, and fully immersing myself in quality time with my family to completely switch off and savor those moments are some of the strategies that work for me. Allocating time for solitude, taking long walks in green outdoors, and cultivating a network of happy, positive individuals who can inject doses of laughter when you need it the most are equally crucial. These little things can mean the difference between simply surviving entrepreneurship and thriving amidst it all – Zahara Kanchwalla, Co-founder & CEO, Rite KnowledgeLabs

“In my entrepreneurial journey, I’ve come to realize that mental health isn’t just a priority; it’s the very foundation of success. To navigate the turbulent waters of entrepreneurship effectively, it is paramount to focus on your mental health and over the years, I’ve ensured I do that. And it’s equally important to extend this commitment to our incredible Keka team.

At Keka, we believe that a thriving business is inseparable from the thriving mental well-being of our employees. Let’s remember that our collective mental well-being is the cornerstone upon which we build a brighter future at Keka and in our personal lives”. – Vijay Yalamanchili, Founder & CEO of Keka.

“Amidst the entrepreneurial storm, startup founders are the architects of innovation, but let’s not forget, we’re also the guardians of our own mental well-being. On this World Mental Health Day, let’s build resilience into our business plans and prioritize our inner strength. Our journey to success is anchored in nurturing a healthy mind and fostering a supportive community. Together, we’ll not only innovate but also thrive amidst the storm” Anshul Khurana, Co-founder of Entitled Solutions

Lomar Collaborates With Alicia Bots to Help Modernise Biofouling Control Methods and Reduce Carbon Emissions

In a development poised to redefine hull maintenance and maritime sustainability, Lomar announces its collaboration with Alicia Bots Inc. This effort both integrates cutting-edge Robotic Hull Inspection and Grooming solutions into Lomar’s biofouling control practices as well as tests new use cases, marking a significant leap forward in the maritime industry’s pursuit of efficiency and environmental responsibility.

Lomar is to deploy Alicia Bots’ robotic technology on up to fifteen of its vessels. The autonomous hull cleaning technology provides a viable reduction in hull fouling, reducing fuel consumption, costs, and carbon emissions.

The multi-purpose magnetic crawler robots that have been developed by Alicia Bots can operate autonomously or remotely via a tether cable and are designed to carry out underwater inspection and maintenance tasks on a ship and other steel structures. The adoption of a proactive in-water cleaning program has been proven to reduce fuel consumption and as a result of that, greenhouse gas emissions. It also has the ability to prolong the service life of antifouling coatings, reduce the point source discharge and cost of reactive underwater cleaning programs as well as prevent the transport of invasive species.

Combining precision robotics and AI-powered analytics, these versatile crawlers are enabling safer, more efficient, and proactive practices. Apart from hull grooming, they are slated for use in cargo hold washing and cleaning, fire fighting, corrosion detection, reparation assistance, data collection, underwater inspections, and thickness measurements.

Lomar’s corporate venture lab, lomarlabs, will be involved in the collaboration, providing insight into the development of robotics to support maritime operations, particularly in the progress toward establishing the potential for autonomous marine drones. This promising new technology has the potential to reduce the need to send humans into dangerous environments in order to carry out essential maintenance work, such as underwater diving operations for routine cleaning.

Lomar is also making its ships available to Alicia Bots to test new use cases with a project that has received grant-aid from the Singapore MPA, to trial underwater inspections and cleaning in Singapore.

Lomar Collaborates With Alicia Bots to Help Modernise Biofouling Control Methods and Reduce Carbon Emissions

Lomar CEO Nicholas Georgiou says: “The dawn of AI has significantly altered the way we view technology as a tool to facilitate our maritime industry’s routine operations. Lomar is committed to supporting the development, fine-tuning and implementation of promising technological solutions that will transform our operational and environmental effectiveness. In the race to create autonomous systems to support hull cleaning and other essential maintenance jobs on vessels, Alicia Bots has developed stand-out systems that provide huge potential for transforming existing labour-intensive maintenance processes with more efficient and effective AI technology while also saving on fuel costs and emissions.”

Alicia Bots CEO Inder Mukhopadhyay says: “Our collaboration with Lomar is a testament to them and the maritime industry’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. Together, we are ushering in a new era of Hull grooming, where cutting-edge technology, like the ROVERCLEAN, not only ensures a clean hull at all times but also paves the way for a greener and more efficient maritime future.”

Romsey, UK. 10.10.2023: Japan commits to helping facilitate international development funding, research and private sector participation to achieve a sustainable and affordable hydrogen and ammonia supply chain in South Africa.

A historic Memorandum of Cooperation between Japan and South Africa has been signed, recognising that South Africa has the capacity and ability to be an internationally competitive producer of hydrogen and green ammonia.

All the attendees gathered at South Africa’s Historical Memorandum of Cooperation with Japan. The event was celebrated in Tokyo at a Joint Workshop on Large Scale Hydrogen Projects. South Africa’s Historical Memorandum of Cooperation with Japan was celebrated in Tokyo at a Joint Workshop on Large Scale Hydrogen Projects. Colin Loubser, General Manager (Front row, grey suit and red tie) of Hive Hydrogen presented the Coega Green Ammonia Project.

Hive Energy UK is playing the leading development role in Phase 1 of South Africa’s $5,8bn Green Ammonia project in Coega, Nelson Mandela Bay, to be commissioned in 2028. The plant will supply Japan, Korea, and Europe with over 900,000 tons a year, in the first of four phases, and Hive is confident that its Green Ammonia pricing for pre-2030 supply will be one of lowest globally. The first Japanese Investors have now started their due diligence to acquire a substantial stake in Hive’s Coega Green Ammonia Project and secure an offtake supply.

The Hive giga-scale project, with 1,200MW of Electrolysers to extract hydrogen from water, will benefit South Africa in many ways including creating over 20,000 jobs in an area with large unemployment and attracting other new industrial investors. Critically, in addition to its own 3,6GW of solar and wind plants, it will enable up to 9GW of other Independent Power Producer renewable energy projects to access the grid, helping to alleviate load shedding while decarbonising the grid, which is currently dominated by coal power generation. Most importantly, the Hive project is fully aligned with the Just Energy Transition that the country is committed to.

Giles Redpath, Hive Energy CEO, commented: “Hive has been working on renewable developments in Southern Africa since 2015 and on Green Hydrogen since 2018. It is encouraging to see how the South African Government has embraced the new green hydrogen industry. The opportunities this creates will enable our Coega green ammonia project to become a world-leading hub. When the production plant is commissioned in 2028, Green ammonia will be shipped from Nelson Mandela Bay to the Far East, and across the world. Our project will play a positive role in the partnership between South Africa and Japan as a source of renewable fuel supporting Japan’s world leading decarbonisation plans to power hard-to-abate industries, including supplying Green Ammonia for coal substitution in power stations and for maritime fuel to replace heavy fuel oil and diesel.”

Hive is developing eight green hydrogen/ammonia projects globally. Once complete, the Hive projects will have the capacity to produce some 8,500,000 tons of hydrogen/ammonia each year to support the global drive to net-zero emissions by 2050.
