BFIL announces acquisition of three Forging Lines capable of producing 72K Tons per annum of heavy forged products
Hyderabad, May 21, 2024……Balu Forge Industries Limited (BFIL), a prominent precision engineering company engaged in manufacturing of crankshafts & forged components, announces the acquisition of three forging lines in a combination of Hammers & Presses capable of producing 72,000 tonnes p.a. of heavy forged products.
Disclosing this in a press note issued in Hyderabad today, the company said, these newly acquired forging lines will seamlessly integrate with the precision engineering expansion taking place at its upcoming manufacturing campus in Belagavi, Karnataka thereby making BFIL an integrated one-stop solution provider for advanced machining solutions for critical industries viz. Railways, Defence, Oil & Gas, Mining, Aerospace, Defence, Aluminium & other essential precision industries globally.
The new forging unit will be seamlessly integrated with the recently acquired precision machining unit of Mercedes Benz. This will further strengthen our product engineering & increase our precision product offerings to global majors operating in the critical engineering & safety components industry with end-to-end solutions under one roof.
This forging unit includes a 16-ton closed-die forging hammer, ranking amongst the largest in the country and capable of producing forgings up to 800-900 kgs. This capacity will be further enhanced with a 10-ton closed-die forging hammer line and an 8,000-ton capacity mechanical forging press. With these facilities, it is advancing our presence in engineering critical industries viz. Oil and Gas, Aerospace, Defence, Railways, Mining, Aluminium and Auto part manufacturing and many other critical industries.
This acquisition strengthens and expands our critical engineering products portfolio and enhances R&D capabilities in alloy mixing & metal combinations BFIL informed. It provides us unique strength in creating products from different alloys based on Aluminum to Titanium which shall enable BIFL to expand its product offering to major growth industries for critical engineering products and to further capture the OEM market that we cater to across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East regions.

BFW Inaugurates Fully Digitalized, Global Scale Manufacturing Plant
Bengaluru, 22 April 2024: Bharat Fritz Werner Ltd (BFW) a leading Indian advanced manufacturing technology solutions company, today announced the inauguration of its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Devaganapalli, in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. This new facility set up with an investment of Rs. 200 crore, brings numerous innovative practices and several unique and industry-first features, including:

DefSat 2024 holds IndSpace Wargame to build future defence space capabilities
New Delhi,9th February 2024: The second day of DefSat 2024 dawned with a remarkable assembly of esteemed dignitaries, marking a pivotal moment in the convergence of strategic discussions and visionary insights. The inaugural session featured notable figures including the H.E Lt. Gen Gurmit Singh, Hon. Governor of Uttarakhand along with Dr. Samir V Kamat, and Secretary DDR&D and Chairman DRDO, both recognized pioneers in their respective fields. Other Dignitaries include: Lt. Gen Vinod G. Khandare PVSM, AVSM, SM (Retd), Principal Advisor, Ministry of Defence.
The focal point of the DefSat agenda on the second day lies in the integration of technology and data. Space technologies, augmented by emerging innovations like AI, AR, VR, nanomaterials, quantum technologies, communication tech, cyber and electronic warfare tech, and directed energy tech, propel the program’s advancement. Concurrently, the amalgamation of geospatial and unstructured data from diverse sensors and devices, integrated with big data analytics, establishes the foundation for 24/7 situational awareness.

Dr. Samir V Kamat, and Secretary DDR&D and Chairman DRDO stated how Space plays a critical role in bolstering national security and fostering network-centric warfare capabilities, particularly in navigation, ISR, and ballistic missile defence. “Our focus on Space Situational Awareness (SSA), space-based ISR, and deterrence capabilities in space underscores our commitment to safeguarding our interests. “Bellatrix, a startup funded under the Technology Development Fund (TDF) scheme, exemplifies our dedication to innovative solutions, such as the development of eco-friendly propulsion systems. Through initiatives like the 75 challenges for space-based R&D, DRDO remains committed to supporting startups and facilitating access to resources for cutting-edge research.” He added.
The IndSpace wargame exercise took center stage, simulating a complex scenario focused on detecting and analyzing potential threats, especially anticipated build-ups. It highlighted the importance of leveraging space ISR capabilities for military-grade intelligence and analysis, with key objectives such as identifying dark ships, deploying satellite resources, and setting military-grade standards. While industry readiness to develop solutions was evident, participants stressed the crucial requirement for budgetary support from the defence ministry. Moreover, the discussion underscored the necessity of civil-military fusion in practical terms to bolster defence capabilities.
Regarding cyber security for space assets, Gen Khandare, Principal Advisor at the Ministry of Defence, emphasized, “India boasts formidable cyber security expertise, as evidenced by the deployment of thousands of cyber guards during G20 and the Pran Pratishtha Ceremony. This underscores our capability in safeguarding digital frontiers. There is a pressing need for increased collaboration between defence sectors and cyber warriors from civil space, alongside foreign collaboration to expedite industry requirements.”

Rolls-Royce inks agreement with Azad Engineering for making complex defence aero-engine components in India
Rolls-Royce (LSE: RR., ADR: RYCEY) has announced the signing of a long-term agreement with Azad Engineering to manufacture and supply complex components for defence aircraft engines.
Through this strategic partnership, Hyderabad-based Azad Engineering will join the global supply chain for complex category components for Rolls-Royce’s technologically advanced aero engines.
Alex Zino, Executive Vice President – Business Development and Future Programmes and Head of Global Networks, Rolls-Royce, said:
