Rani Mukerji awarded Honorary Doctorate by La Trobe University
MELBOURNE, Australia and NEW DELHI, Aug. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Acclaimed Indian actor and humanitarian Rani Mukerji has been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Letters (honoris causa) by La Trobe University, Australia in recognition of her outstanding contribution to Indian cinema, humanitarian work and social advocacy.
The honorary doctorate was conferred on 14 August during the 2026 Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM).
One of the most respected and influential figures in Indian cinema, Rani has enjoyed a career spanning nearly three decades, earning widespread critical acclaim and major honours including a National Film Award and multiple Filmfare Awards.
Rani’s performances in films including Black, No One Killed Jessica, Hichki, the Mardaani franchise and Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway have helped bring issues including gender-based violence, access to justice, disability inclusion and women’s rights into mainstream public conversation, demonstrating the power of cinema to drive awareness, empathy and positive social change.
Alongside her achievements in film, Rani has maintained a longstanding commitment to humanitarian initiatives supporting women, children and disadvantaged communities across India.
Since 2007, she has supported paediatric and neonatal healthcare initiatives at Holy Family Hospital in Mumbai, including the establishment and ongoing support of specialised intensive care services for critically ill children and newborns. Her philanthropic work has also supported initiatives focused on education, food security and community development. Rani has additionally supported charitable and advocacy initiatives associated with organisations including Child Rights and You (CRY), the Indian Stroke Association and the Cancer Patients Aid Association.
Rani said she was deeply honoured to receive the recognition.
“Receiving this Honorary Doctorate in Australia from La Trobe University is one of the most emotional and meaningful moments of my career and life. I am deeply humbled by this recognition and accept it with immense gratitude. As an actor, you never begin your journey thinking about honours — you simply hope that the stories you choose and the characters you bring to life will connect with people. To have that journey acknowledged in this extraordinary way is something I will cherish forever. I have always believed that cinema is one of the most powerful forces for change because stories have the ability to shape hearts, minds and society. Looking back at my career, I feel incredibly grateful that I have had the opportunity to portray women who are strong yet vulnerable, flawed yet inspiring, determined and unapologetically themselves. These were never just characters to me — they represented countless real women whose voices deserved to be seen, heard and celebrated. If my work has, in any way, helped people view women with greater empathy, respect and equality, then I feel I have truly fulfilled my purpose as an artist. This honour is also a reminder that art transcends borders. The emotions we share through cinema are universal and I feel privileged that the stories I have been a part of have travelled across cultures and touched audiences around the world.
As an Indian, this moment fills me with immense pride. I come from a country with a rich cinematic heritage and a storytelling tradition that has inspired generations. To be honoured with an honorary doctorate on a global stage is not just a recognition of my individual journey, but also a celebration of Indian cinema and the extraordinary talent it continues to offer the world.”
La Trobe University Chancellor The Hon John Brumby AO said Rani’s contribution reflected the values the University sought to recognise through its highest honours.
“Rani Mukerji is an artist of extraordinary influence whose work has consistently combined creative excellence with meaningful social impact.
Through some of Indian cinema’s most acclaimed and socially resonant performances, she has helped elevate important conversations about equality, justice, inclusion and the dignity of women and children, demonstrating the unique power of storytelling to shape culture and inspire change.
Through her artistic achievements and humanitarian contribution, she embodies the values La Trobe seeks to recognise through its honorary degrees: leadership, integrity, social responsibility and service to the public good.”
IFFM Festival Director Mitu Bhowmick Lange said the honour was a proud moment for the festival and the Indian Australian community.
“Rani Mukerji has remained one of the most respected voices in Indian cinema because of the integrity, intelligence and humanity she brings to her work. For nearly three decades, she has captivated audiences through performances that are both powerful and deeply relatable, while continuing to champion stories that encourage empathy, resilience and social awareness. Her influence extends far beyond the screen, particularly through her longstanding commitment to women, children and community wellbeing.”
La Trobe University has maintained a longstanding association with Indian cinema through its partnership with the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, previously hosting distinguished Indian film figures including Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Vidya Balan and Rajkumar Hirani.
The honour reflects the growing cultural and educational ties between Australia and India and recognises the role of cinema in fostering understanding, connection and dialogue across cultures.

DCW Embarks on its Next Phase of Growth with ₹250 Crore Strategic Investment Programme
First phase to expand Synthetic Iron Oxide Pigment capacity by 50%, introducing new value-added products and strengthening operating efficiencies at Sahupuram
MUMBAI, India, Aug. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — DCW Limited announced a strategic investment programme of approximately ₹250 crore, marking the first phase of its next growth cycle.
The programme will focus on expanding Synthetic Iron Oxide Pigment (SIOP) capacity, introducing new value-added pigment products and strengthening captive power infrastructure at its Sahupuram manufacturing complex.
DCW plans to increase SIOP capacity by 50%, from approximately 30,000 tonnes per annum to 45,000 tonnes per annum, through a phased expansion. The investment follows record SIOP sales volumes in FY26, with the business operating at effectively full capacity, and is expected to support further growth across domestic and international markets.
Expanding into a Large & Growing Addressable Market
The expansion is supported by a sizeable global market and diversified end-use demand. Recent industry estimates place the global iron oxide pigments market at approximately US$2.5–2.7 billion in 2025 projected to reach approximately US$3.9 billion by 2033, representing a 4.6% CAGR. Asia-Pacific is the largest regional market, accounting for approximately 41.5% of global revenue as of 2025.
Iron oxide pigments are widely used across construction materials, paints and coatings, plastics and other industrial applications, providing a broad underlying demand base. These are also established end-markets for DCW’s SIOP portfolio, which serves applications including construction, paints, paper, laminates, packaging, furniture, plastics and rubber.
The programme builds on DCW’s multi-year shift towards higher-value chemicals. Over FY21–FY25, the Specialty Chemicals segment registered a 26% CAGR, while FY25 Specialty Chemicals EBITDA was 1.9x FY21 levels. Over the last five years, Specialty Chemicals have become the major contributor to the Company’s profitability, providing a more resilient earnings base against swings in Basic Chemicals. DCW enters this investment cycle with a stronger balance sheet which turns Net Cash Positive at the exit of FY27, before any additional leverage for the proposed capex.
Alongside increasing capacity, DCW plans to introduce newer, value-added pigment grades, broadening its product portfolio and improving its ability to address higher-value applications and additional customer requirements. Management had previously indicated that product development in SIOP would increasingly focus on value-added grades alongside volume growth.
The Company will also invest in captive power infrastructure at Sahupuram to improve energy efficiency and strengthen the cost competitiveness of both its Basic and Specialty Chemicals businesses. This builds on DCW’s existing renewable energy investments, the benefits of which have already begun to reflect in power costs.
Management Commentary
Mr. Saatvik Jain, President, DCW Limited, said:
“Over the last few years, we have strengthened our balance sheet, scaled Specialty Chemicals and improved operating efficiency. Specialty Chemicals are now a major contributor to profitability, providing a stronger base for our next phase of growth.
The ₹250 crore investment programme is focused on areas where we see clear opportunities to scale. With SIOP operating at high utilisation, an established customer base and growing end-market demand, the expansion will increase capacity while moving us further into value-added pigment products.
Alongside this, investments in energy efficiency will strengthen manufacturing competitiveness. Our balance sheet provides the flexibility to fund growth while maintaining financial discipline, with a continued focus on sustainable returns and long-term value creation.”
About DCW
DCW Limited stands as a stalwart in the Indian chemical industry, upholding a rich legacy since its foundation in 1939. The Company operates two major manufacturing facilities located in Dhrangadhra, Gujarat, and Sahupuram, Tamil Nadu. DCW’s portfolio is strategically segmented into Basic Chemicals (including Soda Ash, Caustic Soda, and PVC) and Specialty Chemicals (including Chlorinated Poly Vinyl Chloride (CPVC) and Synthetic Iron Oxide Pigment (SIOP)). The Company serves a diverse clientele globally, with a major presence in the USA, Europe, Japan, and the Netherlands. DCW is focused on leveraging its integrated operations, R&D capabilities in Sahupuram, and strategic investments to drive sustainable growth and strengthen its position in the domestic and international markets.

- The film explores crafting as a mindset rooted in care, imagination and responsibility, reflecting the Group’s shared ambition to create, innovate and build for the future
MUMBAI, India, Aug. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Godrej Industries Group recently unveiled its new corporate brand film, ‘At Godrej Industries, We Craft’, marking the first major cinematic expression of its refreshed purpose and brand identity launched earlier this year. Produced by Zoya Akhtar of Tiger Telly and directed by Aakash Bhatia of LoudMouth Film, the film brings the Group’s purpose, ‘Crafting tomorrow since 1897’, to life through the people, businesses and ideas shaping its diverse portfolio.
Speaking on the launch, Tanya Dubash, Executive Director and Chief Brand Officer, Godrej Industries, said, “Earlier this year, we introduced our purpose, ‘Crafting tomorrow since 1897’, as an articulation of what has connected our businesses for over a century.”
“This film brings that purpose to life through the people, ideas and ambition that shape our Group every day. As a Group that has continued to build and evolve for more than a hundred years, we believe values and performance, innovation and responsibility, must go hand in hand as we look to remain relevant for the next hundred,” she added.
Where people, purpose and progress come together
The film was shot across the Group’s offices, farms, factories and construction sites. It captures the people, processes and ideas behind its businesses, showing how crafting takes different forms across Godrej Industries Group while being connected by a shared purpose and ambition.
Mesmerized by the diversity of the group, Zoya Akhtar, Producer, Tiger Telly, said, “Godrej, for me, is an inheritance. You cannot have grown up in India and not had Godrej in your life. It was only when I began working on this project that I understood the diversity, range and scale of everything Godrej Industries Group does. The film became a way of discovering that world and the shared spirit that connects it.”
It brings together the distinct purposes of the Group’s businesses within a single narrative: crafting goodness through consumer products, abundance through agriculture, joy through real estate, prosperity through financial services, innovation through chemicals and inspiration through ventures.
Where purpose, people and legacy come together
More than the act of making, the film presents crafting as a mindset rooted in care, imagination and responsibility. The work taking place across the Godrej Industries Group every day reflects the belief that progress is shaped by people who choose to create, improve, and build things that endure. It traces this spirit back to the Group’s founder, Ardeshir Godrej, whose life and work demonstrated that innovation, integrity and ambition are strongest when held together.
Aakash Bhatia, Director, LoudMouth Film, said, “The things you see, the things you don’t see. The things you notice, or you don’t, and things you only feel when you observe. Godrej Industries Group exists in all of the above. My vision was to bring to life all of that and everything the Group stands for, while keeping people at the heart of the story. The journey of turning the tangible and intangible, the ambition and experiences into the ideas, screenplay and visuals for the film was the most exciting part.”
The film is now live across Godrej Industries Group’s digital platforms. It can be viewed here.

2026 International Congress of Basic Science Opens in Beijing
BEIJING, Aug. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The 2026 International Congress of Basic Science (ICBS 2026) opened on August 9 in Beijing, bringing together four Fields Medalists — Shing-Tung Yau, Maxim Kontsevich, Martin Hairer and Caucher Birkar — and Turing Award laureate Robert Tarjan, alongside Li Luming, president of Tsinghua University. More than 80 recipients of the Shaw Prize, Wolf Prize and Dirac Medal, some 400 internationally recognized scholars, and more than 800 researchers and students from over 30 countries and regions gathered for the flagship event.
On behalf of Tsinghua University, Li Luming welcomed the Chinese and international scientists attending the event and emphasized the important role that leading research universities should play in advancing basic research in the era of AI. In recent years, Tsinghua has deepened its commitment to fundamental disciplines by increasing investment, attracting world-class researchers, harnessing AI to accelerate scientific discovery, and enhancing its capacity for independent talent cultivation. Looking ahead, Tsinghua will strengthen its capacity for original innovation, cultivate future talent for basic research, and make greater contributions to expanding the frontiers of human knowledge and advancing human civilization.
In his remarks, ICBS President Yau noted that China has expanded its support for basic research through increased funding, policy initiatives, talent development and investments in research infrastructure. While AI can dramatically accelerate mathematical deduction and theorem proving, it does not replace the human capacity for creativity, intuition and the timeless pursuit of questions whose answers are not yet known. Major leaps in basic science always emerge at the intersection of disciplines and the willingness to venture into uncharted territory.
Two major honors were conferred during the ceremony: the ICBS Medal and the Frontiers of Science Award.
Nine scientists received the inaugural ICBS Medal for contributions spanning mathematics, physics and engineering: Claire Voisin, Horng-Tzer Yau, Shouwu Zhang, Andrea J. Liu, Yifang Wang, Xiao-gang Wen, Zhenan Bao, Xiaowei Zhuang and Feng Zhang. Four of this year’s medalists are women.
The Frontiers of Science Awards recognized 111 high-impact original research papers from more than 20 countries and regions. Nineteen of the recognized papers were authored by researchers from 17 Chinese institutions, including two papers featuring five scholars from Tsinghua University, spanning fields such as geometric analysis, quantum theory, large AI models, and computer vision.

Iyuno Details the Architecture Behind CLOE, a Multi-Agent AI System for Consistent Content Workflows
Company outlines a system designed to maintain continuity across scenes, episodes, and languages
BURBANK, Calif., Aug. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Iyuno today shared new details on the architecture behind CLOE, its AI platform designed to address a key challenge in content production: maintaining consistency at scale.
While AI tools can generate outputs quickly, they often struggle to preserve continuity across longer-form content—leading to inconsistencies in tone, character, and narrative across workflows.
“At scale, content breaks when understanding resets,” said Iyuno CEO, David Lee. “We approached this as a system design problem, not just a model problem.”
CLOE is built on a multi-agent framework that structures how content is interpreted before outputs are created. The system operates across three core layers:
- Sensory layer: captures inputs across dialogue, visuals, and audio
- Fusion layer: connects those inputs, tracking relationships and narrative flow
- Memory layer: stores this understanding as a persistent, reusable knowledge base
This approach enables CLOE to maintain a continuous representation of content, allowing multiple workflows—such as subtitling, dubbing, and accessibility—to draw from the same underlying context.
“One of the biggest challenges in global content is that every version starts from zero—each team has to relearn the same story,” said Lee. “CLOE allows that understanding to persist, so every version starts with context instead of rebuilding it.”
CLOE supports a growing set of modular AI capabilities, or “skills,” across the content lifecycle, with each operating from the same shared foundation.
Iyuno is continuing to expand the platform’s capabilities as it scales deployment across global content workflows.

TERREPOWER Culminates Its Brand Evolution with Tagline ‘Reimagine What’s Possible’
DAPHNE, Ala., Aug. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — TERREPOWER today announced the launch of its new corporate tagline, “Reimagine What’s Possible,” reflecting its transformation from remanufacturing pioneer to global leader in sustainable manufacturing. The milestone marks the pinnacle of the company’s ongoing brand evolution. Reinforcing the entrepreneurial spirit and innovative mindset that have fueled TERREPOWER’s growth, the tagline epitomizes the aftermarket company’s success in spreading the power of sustainable manufacturing at scale.
The new tagline builds on a multi-year initiative to reshape the company’s identity, expand its capabilities and strengthen its position as the world’s largest sustainable manufacturer by volume. Since rebranding from BBB Industries in February 2025, TERREPOWER has continued to diversify beyond its automotive roots by applying its value proposition and sustainable manufacturing process to industrial end markets, growing its portfolio to include EV battery lifecycle solutions, energy storage, and solar solutions while remaining grounded in the principles that have defined its business for decades.
“More than a tagline, ‘Reimagine What’s Possible’ captures how we think, how we innovate and how we create value for customers, employees, partners, investors and the communities we serve,” said Duncan Gillis, CEO of TERREPOWER. “Throughout our history, we have challenged conventional thinking and assumptions to uncover opportunities where others saw limitations. Whether extending the life of critical components, advancing solar remanufacturing or developing new industrial applications such as EV battery lifecycle solutions, our success comes from asking a simple question: What if there’s a better way?”
The tagline reflects a journey of continuous improvement driven by measurable results and a willingness to rethink traditional product lifecycles. Founded in 1987, the company built its reputation through remanufacturing and restoring automotive parts to like-new or better-than-new condition while conserving resources and reducing waste.
Today, that expertise has broadened into a sustainable manufacturing model that encompasses remanufacturing, strategic reengineering and material recovery across multiple industries.
Key milestones in TERREPOWER’s evolution include:
- Growing from a regional automotive remanufacturer into a global enterprise serving customers in more than 90 countries
- Scaling our expertise beyond high-performance, sustainably manufactured and new parts for automotive applications into some of the most demanding industrial segments, including mining, construction, agriculture, oil & gas, energy storage systems, and solar
- Rebranding from BBB Industries to TERREPOWER in 2025 to better reflect its commitment to innovation, sustainability and the circular economy
- Establishing a leadership foothold through a combination of operational scale, engineering expertise and environmental stewardship
The new tagline will serve as TERREPOWER’s external brand promise while reinforcing the same mindset internally through the company’s newly introduced Shared Purpose initiative. By intentionally aligning culture and brand under a common idea, TERREPOWER aims to ensure that the spirit that drives innovation inside the company is the same promise it delivers to customers, partners and communities worldwide.
As TERREPOWER enters its next phase of growth, “Reimagine What’s Possible” provides a unifying message that connects the company’s heritage, expertise and future ambitions. It reflects a belief that products can have longer lives, resources can create greater value and industries can rethink established assumptions to achieve better outcomes for customers and society.

Thailand Advances Toward Global Digital Asset Standards as Bitazza Achieves Travel Rule Readiness with Sumsub
BANGKOK, Aug. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Thailand’s digital asset industry is entering a new phase of regulatory maturity as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) prepares to implement the Travel Rule later this year. Developed in line with the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the regulation requires digital asset business operators to collect and securely exchange specific information relating to qualifying digital asset transfers in order to strengthen Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) measures.
The implementation of the Travel Rule marks an important milestone in Thailand’s digital asset regulatory framework, reinforcing transparency, enhancing transaction traceability, and aligning the country’s digital asset ecosystem with internationally recognised compliance standards adopted across leading financial centres worldwide.
In preparation for the upcoming regulation, Bitazza Thailand, a digital asset broker licensed by the Ministry of Finance and regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), has completed the development of its Travel Rule infrastructure ahead of the official enforcement timeline, reaffirming the Company’s long-standing commitment to responsible innovation and regulatory compliance.
Since 2025, Bitazza Thailand has been working with Sumsub, the first AI-powered trust infrastructure for compliance at scale, to strengthen its capabilities across customer verification, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and risk management. Building on this strategic collaboration, the Company has expanded its implementation to include Sumsub’s Travel Rule solution in preparation for the SEC’s upcoming regulatory requirements. Backed by the largest Travel Rule directory of over 2,100 virtual asset service providers (VASPs), the solution enables secure information exchange between VASPs, strengthening transaction monitoring, customer protection, and compliance with internationally recognised standards ahead of the SEC’s regulatory deadline.
“We have always believed that mass adoption of digital assets must be built on trust, transparency, and responsible regulation,” said Mr. Tanawat Sutuntivorakoon, Chief Executive Officer of Bitazza Thailand. “The implementation of the Travel Rule represents another important step in strengthening Thailand’s digital asset ecosystem. We have proactively invested in upgrading our compliance infrastructure ahead of the official implementation to ensure our customers continue to receive services that meet international standards while maintaining the highest levels of security, transparency, and trust.”
“Thailand’s move to implement the Travel Rule reflects a broader shift across Southeast Asia toward regulated, interoperable digital asset markets,” said Ms. Penny Chai, Vice President, APAC at Sumsub. “Through our partnership with Bitazza Thailand, we’re combining secure cross-border data exchange with the identity verification and risk management capabilities regulated businesses need to scale confidently. As more regulators across the region adopt similar frameworks, this kind of trust infrastructure will be essential to keeping Thailand’s digital asset ecosystem competitive and internationally connected.”
Beyond regulatory compliance, the Travel Rule plays an increasingly important role in enabling greater interoperability between regulated digital asset service providers globally. By improving the traceability of digital asset transactions, the framework helps detect and prevent illicit financial activities, including money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, and the misuse of digital assets through mule accounts or other criminal networks.
The adoption of internationally recognised Travel Rule standards also supports Thailand’s broader ambition of becoming a trusted regional digital asset hub. By aligning domestic regulations with global best practices, the framework strengthens institutional confidence, facilitates international cooperation, and creates a more credible environment for innovation, investment, and responsible digital asset adoption.
The Thailand Digital Asset Association (TDA), the industry’s leading non-profit association representing Thailand’s digital asset ecosystem, welcomed the implementation of the Travel Rule as an important step toward strengthening industry standards and international competitiveness. “The implementation of the Travel Rule represents another significant step in advancing Thailand’s digital asset market toward internationally recognized standards. Beyond strengthening regulatory oversight, it helps build greater confidence among users, investors, and financial institutions, both domestically and internationally. As digital asset businesses operate under the same compliance framework adopted by leading global financial centers, Thailand’s digital asset industry will become increasingly credible, creating greater opportunities for cross-border collaboration, investment, and innovation.” said Mr. Nares Laopannarai, President of the Thai Digital Asset Association.
As part of its broader compliance strategy, Bitazza Thailand has continuously worked alongside key regulatory and public sector agencies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Bank of Thailand (BOT), the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO), and other relevant authorities to strengthen transaction monitoring, enhance customer protection, and develop systems capable of identifying suspicious activities.
