Omdia H1 2026: Hisense Ranks No. 1 Globally in 100-Inch-and-Above TV Shipments
QINGDAO, China, Aug. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Hisense, a leading brand in global consumer electronics and home appliances, ranked No. 1 globally in shipments of TVs 100 inches and above in H1 2026, according to Omdia, accounting for a 55.1% market share. The result reflects demand for larger, more immersive screens and Hisense’s ability to bring premium big-screen experiences into more homes.

Building on this leadership, Hisense is putting the viewing experience first — turning display technology into more immersive, lifelike experiences. The UR9 Series advances RGB MiniLED technology by independently controlling red, green and blue light at the backlight source, delivering richer colors, deeper contrast and greater detail — so movies feel more cinematic, sports more vivid and every scene truer to life.

Hisense’s large-screen expertise also extends to Laser TV, where the brand achieved more than 70% of global shipments in 2025. Put simply, more than two out of every three Laser TVs shipped globally were Hisense — demonstrating its longstanding commitment to redefining entertainment at home.
At IFA 2026, Hisense will take this vision further under the theme “Innovating a Brighter Life,” showcasing how technology can create more intelligent, immersive and enjoyable experiences. The Hisense IFA Press Conference will take place from 15:00–16:00 on September 3 at the Innovation Stage, Messe Berlin, followed by the Hisense exhibition from September 4–8, 09:00–17:00 daily, in Hall 23a.
From market leadership to next-generation display innovation, Hisense continues to turn technology into experiences that help people see more, enjoy more and live brighter.

TAT defines The Year of Transformation as Thailand’s 2027 tourism direction
Four strategic moves target 5% tourism revenue growth and position Thailand as Asia’s No.1 High-Value & Meaningful Destination
BANGKOK, Aug. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has unveiled “The Year of Transformation” as Thailand’s strategic tourism direction for 2027, built around four strategic moves supporting “The Winning Goal 2027”. TAT targets tourism revenue growth of at least 5% over 2026, a 60:40 visitor distribution between major and emerging destinations, and a place among Asia’s top three destinations for traveller loyalty, working towards the goal of becoming “Asia’s No.1 High-Value & Meaningful Destination”.

The four strategic moves comprise Rebalance Market Portfolio, Shape Experience Platform, Build New Growth Engine, and Transform Together.
Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, said, “The Year of Transformation is a clear commitment to reshape Thai tourism around quality, value and long-term competitiveness. We’ve moved beyond volume alone, using Thailand’s distinctive strengths to create experiences that earn traveller loyalty, distribute income more widely and generate sustainable value. Through these four Strategic Moves, TAT is sharpening the country’s tourism ecosystem to innovate, compete and deliver a stronger future.”
Presented at Rajadamnern Stadium under “The Ultimate Fight: Transform for the Win!”, TAT’s 2027 strategic direction used Thailand’s historic Muay Thai arena to convey the need for the sector to adapt, sharpen its strategy and compete in a rapidly changing global environment. It also reflected TAT’s shift from simply relying on established strengths to converting Thailand’s advantages in wellness, culture, gastronomy, meaningful experiences and sustainability into greater market value and competitive advantage.
Rebalance Market Portfolio, the first move, will create a more balanced structure across markets, traveller segments and destinations while reducing reliance on any one market source or destination. TAT will strengthen domestic tourism as a core foundation and manage international markets through Retain to sustain growth while expanding quality segments and spending; Reshape to attract higher-value travellers through wellness, luxury, family and lifestyle experiences; and Recover to rebuild confidence through safety, convenience and value. New opportunities in Eastern Europe, Latin America and new origin cities will be supported by stronger air and multimodal connectivity.
Alongside this, TAT will refine its Segmentation Portfolio around Mainstream, Experience, High Value and Premium Travellers, with products shaped around motivations ranging from gastronomy, culture and nature to wellness, longevity, sport and luxury. At destination level, “The Link Plus” will match suitable markets and traveller segments with 19 priority areas, targeting a 10% increase in international arrivals to these destinations.
Shape Experience Platform, the second move, will strengthen the Amazing Thailand brand by shifting perceptions from a Value for Money Destination to a Meaningful Destination under “Healing is the New Luxury”. TAT will introduce new characters “Nong Sukjai” and “Nong Rak Yim” to communicate Thai charm and build emotional connections with travellers. For the domestic market, “365 Thai Thiao Thai – Thiao Dai Thang Pi” (literally, “Thai people can travel domestically throughout all 365 days of the year”) will be promoted through “Suk Thanti Thi Thiao Thai – Toem Mueang Thai Hai Jai Dai Heal” (literally, “Thai people can find instant happiness when travelling in Thailand and let their hearts heal”).
TAT will also develop themed experiences reflecting each region’s distinct identity, extend the UNESCO Thailand Network across 29 areas and more than 55 community tourism destinations, and build Signature Destination Branding, initially in Chiang Rai, Ubon Ratchathani, Songkhla, Trat and Samut Songkhram.
Build New Growth Engine, the third move, will convert Thailand’s tourism strengths into new economic value through four Life Economy growth engines. Theme Product Experience will develop nine experience groups, led by the early-2027 launch of “Unseen Luxperience 2027” for Premium Travellers, combining hidden gems with private and exclusive experiences rooted in Thai textiles, gems and jewellery, Thai massage and Muay Thai, with a special guest joining the unveiling. Well-being Tourism will position Thailand as a Global Health & Healing Destination through Medical Excellence, Science-Based Wellness and Science-Based Local Wisdom, helping travellers Heal Better, Live Longer and Feel Better.
Festival Economy will position Thailand as a year-round events destination under “365 Days of Celebration”, spanning World & International Events, Pride, music festivals such as S2O, Wonderfruit and Tomorrowland, art and design, sport and adventure. TAT will elevate the Ubon Ratchathani Candle Procession, Nakhon Phanom Illuminated Boat Procession and Sakon Nakhon Christmas Star Parade — towards “Must-Experience in Thailand” status. Future Sustainability will expand sustainable tourism destination prototypes to Nan and Wellness Valley areas, extend the CF Hotel low-carbon network and encourage wider use of the Sustainable Development Goals’ (SDGs) assessment framework.
Transform Together, the fourth move, reflects TAT’s evolving role from Tourism Promoter to Tourism Ecosystem Orchestrator, connecting traveller demand with partners across the wider Visitor Economy to develop higher-value products, services and experiences. This approach recognises tourism as an ecosystem extending beyond leisure travel into wellness, sport, festivals and other special-interest journeys, with growth requiring stronger collaboration across the public and private sectors.
Through Tourism Value Intelligence, TAT will analyse visitor and tourism revenue data, supported by 45 domestic offices, two coordination centres and 29 overseas offices. A TAT-supported tourism leadership programme, now under development, will strengthen industry capability and collaboration, while support for start-ups, technology and AI will improve the traveller journey.
TAT’s 2027 direction is designed to strengthen Thailand’s competitiveness as it advances towards Asia’s No.1 High-Value & Meaningful Destination status. TAT will work across the tourism sector guided by four principles: integrity to build trust, safety to strengthen confidence, quality to create lasting impressions, and experiences that inspire visitors to return. TAT aims to generate higher-quality growth, spread tourism income more widely and strengthen community benefits, carrying the spirit of “Transform Together, Win Together” into the next phase of Amazing Thailand.

First micro-documentary on Haiyang Big Yangko Dance released
YANTAI, China, Aug. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Haiyang sits on the southern tip of the Jiaodong Peninsula, under the administration of Yantai city, Shandong province. Endowed with majestic mountains and a scenic coastline, the city derives its name from its location north of the Yellow Sea. In 1398, the Ming government established Dasong Garrison in present-day Haiyang, Shandong. In 1425, to celebrate Commander Zhao Tong, who concurrently served as Zhenfu (Military Supervisor), having five generations living under one roof, Dasong Garrison integrated elegant classical music with local folk dance traditions to create the Big Yangko Dance dance. The performance debuted officially on the day an imperial gold plaque inscribed with Qiye Yanxiang (Seven Leaves Spreading Auspiciousness) was unveiled. From then on, Haiyang Big Yangko Dance began to thrive.
Over six centuries, Haiyang Big Yangko Dance has taken root amid the city’s mountains, coastline and local customs. It has gradually evolved into a well-established dance system, embodying a folk art style that is powerful and uninhibited, robust and dynamic, and yet equally festive, lively, and vibrant.
Haiyang Big Yangko Dance brings the DNA of this intangible cultural heritage to life through its vivid Nine Major Roles. These nine characters act as living folk symbols and grassroots cultural envoys, embodying the honest local ethos through their physical performances. Apart from the nine leading roles, supporting performers, known as miscellaneous players in Haiyang Big Yangko Dance, portray figures such as donkeys, land boats, opera characters and mythical figures. Their improvisational acts add richer narrative layers to Big Yangko Dance performances.
“No Big Yangko Dance, no Spring Festival.” This local saying epitomizes the cultural identity of Haiyang people. “Big Yangko Dance fills the first lunar month celebrations with play, the second with bustle, and lingers playfully into the third.” “Big Yangko Dance ushers in spring” has become a vital way for locals to express festive joy and strengthen community bonds during Chinese New Year. This is far more than a simple folk performance; it embodies the community’s gratitude and reverence for the ocean—a belief deeply ingrained in the lifeblood of Jiaodong fishing communities.
Haiyang is renowned as the Home of Chinese Folk Art. Haiyang Big Yangko Dance enjoys national acclaim and is recognized as one of the three major Big Yangko Dance styles in Shandong. In 2006, it was inscribed on the first batch of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List, evolving into a cultural tourism attraction and a hallmark of Haiyang’s external promotion. The year 2024 marked another milestone for Haiyang Big Yangko Dance: It clinched the Shanhua Award, the highest honor in Chinese folk art.
Like a brilliant cultural pearl, Haiyang Big Yangko Dance radiates the civilizational brilliance of generations of Haiyang people, heralding their aspirations for an even better life.

From Syrup Diversion to Sugar Production: SED’s Integrated Process House Solution for Shivshakti Sugars’ 7,500 TCD Plant
SED will execute the design, engineering, equipment supply, erection and commissioning of the sugar crystallization section on an accelerated timeline, with key equipment dispatch targeted by 15 September and plant commissioning scheduled by 31 October 2026.
MOHALI, India, Aug. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — In an industry where steam economy, process stability, and recovery efficiency directly determine plant profitability, Shivshakti Sugars Limited, Belagavi, Karnataka, has placed its trust in Spray Engineering Devices Limited (SED) for strengthening of the evaporator station and addition of a sugar crystallization section for 7500 TCD in existing syrup production plant. The project will support the plant’s conversion to plantation white sugar production at 340 TCH, marking a significant step toward higher efficiency and modernized sugar manufacturing.
“For us at SED, engineering has never been about supplying equipment; it is about owning performance. With Shivshakti Sugars, we are bringing together process design, energy efficiency, and operational control in a way that works at plant scale. The aim is simple: build systems that run reliably and help sugar producers operate more efficiently and at greater scale,” said Mr. Vivek Verma, Managing Director, SED.
Under the proposed scope, SED will supply and commission a comprehensive process package covering condensate juice heater, falling film evaporator, condensate heat recovery, spray continuous pan for A, B & C massecuite, vacuum, sealing and vertical crystallizers with associated automation. The package includes condensate heaters, two 5,000 m² falling film evaporators, three Spray Continuous Pans with capacities of 110, 45 and 35 TPH, at A, B and C massecuite duty respectively along with vacuum, air-cooled and vertical crystallizers for low grade massecuite.
The technology package is designed to utilise low-grade vapour more effectively and improve process control. SED’s Spray Continuous Pan technology enables continuous massecuite boiling with individual chamber control of vapour, temperature, level and consistency, while the evaporator system includes recirculation and provisions for online chemical cleaning.
SED will undertake design and engineering for its supplied equipment, along with transportation, erection, and commissioning. The plant will be commissioned by October 31, 2026, with provisions linked to schedule performance.
The project represents another application of SED’s integrated process engineering approach in the sugar sector, combining equipment design, energy-saving systems and process automation within a single plant-level solution.

Zoomcar and Uber partner to give travelers more ways to plan road trips
Now compare self-drive and chauffeur-driven Intercity options within the Zoomcar app
BENGALURU, India and NEW YORK, Aug. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Zoomcar (OTCQB: ZCAR), India’s leading peer-to-peer car-sharing platform, and Uber (NYSE: UBER), India’s most-loved ride-hailing app, have joined hands to make planning road trips easier and simpler. Now, travelers searching for a self-drive vehicle on the Zoomcar app will also be able to discover and book Uber Intercity rides in case they prefer to get chauffeur-driven cars. The partnership will give Zoomcar app users the choice to pick a self-drive option or take a back seat with an Uber Intercity driver at the wheel – comparing the options at one place and choosing what suits them best for their travel needs.
The collaboration brings together two complementary travel options on select routes for one-way or round trips. The integration delivers a richer mobility experience for a growing segment of Indian travelers who value flexibility, premium experiences and access over ownership. The partnership has gone live in Bengaluru, Delhi NCR and Mumbai, with plans to expand to more cities over time.
Deepankar Tiwari, Chief Executive Officer, Zoomcar Holdings, Inc., said: “Zoomcar is where India’s most intentional travelers come to plan how they move. Some of them want the freedom of a self-drive car. Others, on other days or other trips, want the comfort of being driven. Both needs are valid, and both deserve a world-class experience. By partnering with Uber, we’re making sure that when a Zoomcar user faces that choice, they don’t have to leave our platform to find the answer. That’s what serving the traveler fully looks like.”
Rishant Ghosh, Director of Consumer & Growth, Uber India & South Asia, said: “Uber Intercity has increasingly become the preferred choice for travel across cities, with demand growing across Tier-2 and metro markets alike. We’re also seeing more Indians choose road trips for weekend getaways, family visits and holidays. Through this partnership with Zoomcar, we’re making Uber Intercity accessible to even more travelers, giving them another convenient way to book reliable, comfortable outstation rides.”
The Consumer at the Heart of It: Access Over Ownership
Both Zoomcar and Uber reflect a broader shift in how Indians think about mobility. Increasingly, consumers are choosing access over ownership, opting for flexible, on-demand transportation instead of owning a vehicle. For some journeys, that means the freedom of driving themselves through Zoomcar. For others, it means the convenience of sitting back in an Uber Intercity ride. This partnership brings both choices together, allowing travelers to compare self-drive and chauffeur-driven options in one place and choose what best suits each trip.
The same traveler may choose to drive on one journey and be driven on the next. By bringing both experiences together, Zoomcar and Uber are making it easier to choose the right option for every journey, while serving a growing segment of travel enthusiasts looking for greater flexibility, convenience and choice.

New US$22 Million Education Lifeline for Crisis-Affected Children in Sudan
New three-year investment will reach nearly 200,000 crisis-affected children and adolescents, helping them return to safe, inclusive learning while supporting the recovery of Sudan’s education system. The announcement comes as Education Cannot Wait launches Hope Starts Here, a global campaign to mobilise US$600 million to reach 10 million children living through the world’s most severe crises.
GENEVA, Switzerland, Aug. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Education Cannot Wait (ECW), the global fund for education in crises, has announced a new US$22 million multi-year investment to help restore safe, quality and inclusive education for nearly 200,000 crisis-affected children and adolescents across West Darfur, South Kordofan and Gedaref, as Sudan continues to face the world’s largest humanitarian and displacement crisis.
The announcement follows a high-level mission to Sudan. ECW Director Maysa Jalbout met with children, teachers, communities and education partners affected by more than three years of armed conflict and displacement.
Since conflict erupted in April 2023, some 14 million people have been forced to flee their homes, while 33.7 million people now require humanitarian assistance. At least 8 million children – nearly half of Sudan’s 17 million school-age children – remain out of school. Across the country, large numbers of schools remain non-operational, while millions of children have endured prolonged disruptions to their education, with some missing nearly 500 days of learning.
“Education in Sudan has been interrupted by conflict, displacement and unimaginable hardship. Yet it remains one of the most powerful tools we have to protect millions of children, restore hope and support recovery. This investment is about much more than reopening classrooms. It is about supporting children to regain a sense of safety and normalcy while strengthening education systems that can continue serving communities through crisis and into recovery. Sudan’s children cannot wait,” said Maysa Jalbout, Director of Education Cannot Wait.
The three-year programme will reach those left furthest behind in the country – including internally displaced children, refugees and vulnerable host communities, with at least 60% girls and 10% children with disabilities. It will establish safe formal and non-formal learning environments, provide mental health and psychosocial support, strengthen teacher capacity, improve access to quality learning materials, and address barriers facing girls and children with disabilities. A US$5 million crisis modifier will enable rapid responses to emerging emergencies and climate-related shocks.
Implementation will be led by Save the Children, in partnership with Plan International, Lakarmissionen International (LM International), and local partners Alsalam Organisation for Relief and Development (AORD) and Sadagaat.
“For millions of children in Sudan, conflict and displacement have disrupted not only their education, but also their sense of safety, routine and hope for the future. Access to safe, quality education is a fundamental right and one of the most effective ways to protect children and support their recovery during times of crises. Through this ECW multi-year investment and partnership, children in Sudan will be able to access learning opportunities that provide critical protection, psychosocial support and a pathway to recovery, resilience and a brighter future,” said Francesco Lanino, Deputy Country Director for Save the Children.
Localisation is central to the programme, with nearly 48% of the budget going to national and local partners. Local actors will work alongside organisations of persons with disabilities, women-led organisations and community structures to ensure the response is rooted in the priorities and capacities of the communities it serves.
“Communities in Sudan have shown extraordinary resilience despite the immense challenges they continue to face. As a Sudanese organisation, we know that lasting impact comes from solutions that are rooted in local knowledge, trust and partnerships with the communities we serve. Through this programme, we will work alongside families, teachers and local partners to help children return to safe, inclusive learning environments where they can recover, regain hope and build the skills they need for the future,” said Rudwan Elfaki, General Director of AORD.
ECW’s US$22 million investment provides seed funding towards a total programme requirement of US$39 million, with partners continuing to mobilise additional resources to expand support as needs evolve.
From Sudan to a global call for action
The Sudan investment comes days after the launch of Hope Starts Here, ECW’s new global campaign to mobilise US$600 million to reach 10 million crisis-affected children with education over the next four years.
The campaign launches at a critical moment. ECW’s latest global estimates show that 258 million school-aged children and adolescents across 87 countries now have their education disrupted by crises.
Hope Starts Here builds on a decade of action by ECW and its partners, reaching more than 14 million crisis-affected children and adolescents with education, protection and holistic support.
The campaign will mobilise governments, foundations, philanthropies and private sector partners ahead of ECW’s High-Level Replenishment Conference in Geneva on 5 November 2026, hosted by Switzerland.

IBM and the USTA Introduce New AI-Powered Fan Experiences for 2026 US Open
NEW YORK, Aug. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — IBM (NYSE: IBM) and the United States Tennis Association (USTA) today announced new and enhanced AI-powered fan features coming to USOpen.org and the US Open app for this year’s tournament. Three new, enhanced AI-powered innovations are designed to help fans cut through the noise, stay closer to the action and experience the US Open in a more personalized way than ever. Since 1992, IBM and the USTA have brought some of the most advanced digital experiences in sports to more than 14 million global tennis fans annually.
This year’s tournament comes at a time when audience demand for AI-powered features is gaining momentum, as accuracy, not speed, shapes the digital sports experience. According to a new global survey also out today from Morning Consult and commissioned by IBM, 91% of global tennis fans surveyed use sports apps during events, with high trust (64%) in AI-powered sports content.
At the heart of this year’s experience is the all-new Live Updates homepage — a smarter, more personalized way for fans to follow the action that matters most to them. Fans can prioritize their favorite players and quickly zero in on the matches, insights and stories they care about most.

A new Serve Quality metric puts a whole new spin on how fans watch serves. Available across all 254 singles matches, the AI-powered tool uses advanced limb-tracking technology developed with IBM Bob to help analyze the precise mechanics of every serve – with 21 data points across the body and racquet, tracked 50 times per second. That means everything from wrist flex to the transfer of energy from a player’s legs through their torso is captured, generating roughly 1.2 billion data points over the course of the tournament. The continuous stream of live data — including efficiency, accuracy, consistency and ball toss — is managed by IBM Confluent. The result: a Serve Quality score generated in near real-time, giving fans a new way to understand what makes a great serve great.
Also new this year, Key Moments takes the popular live Likelihood to Win feature a step further, helping fans understand not just who’s winning – but why. Available for all singles matches, Likelihood to Win calculates each player’s probability of victory using an AI-powered analysis of current and historical statistics, expert opinion and match momentum. Key Moments provides additional, richer information, to summarize the swings, turning points and momentum shifts that change each match in an instant.

The enhanced Match Chat acts as an interactive companion throughout each match, letting fans ask questions in their own words to get instant, conversational answers. Some responses now go beyond text, bringing in relevant photos and video to add even more context. Match Chat, powered by watsonx Orchestrate, draws on an expanded mix of live match data, analysis and historical information. A collection of AI agents and fit-for-purpose models trained in the USTA’s editorial style and the language of tennis make responses feel right at home on the court.

“Our work with IBM this year has been game-changing, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in digital fan engagement,” said Brian Ryerson, Senior Director, Digital Strategy, USTA. “By leveraging their AI capabilities, we’re delivering new, innovative, and highly personalized content and insights to our millions of fans worldwide, while significantly enhancing our ability to tell compelling stories throughout every match of the US Open.”
“Our partnership with the USTA continues to redefine digital sports experiences,” said Jonathan Adashek, Senior Vice President, Chief Global Affairs Officer at IBM. “We can take millions of live data points streaming from the court and automatically route them into workflows that deliver usable insights in minutes and hours. These capabilities of Confluent, Bob and other IBM technologies help deliver a more intelligent experience, drawing greater value from data and changing the game for the US Open.”
The 2026 US Open runs from August 23 – September 13. Explore these IBM technologies and more by visiting USOpen.org and/or the US Open app available in the Apple and Android app stores on all mobile devices.

Anbogen Therapeutics and The University of Tokyo Enter Collaborative Research Agreement to Evaluate ABT-301 Across Multiple Tumor Types, Targeting Accelerated Human Clinical Indication Expansion
TAIPEI, Aug. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Anbogen Therapeutics Inc. (TPEx: 7784) (“Anbogen” or the “Company”), a clinical-stage precision oncology company, today announced that it has entered into a Collaborative Research Agreement (CRA) with the Laboratory of Veterinary Surgery, Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, The University of Tokyo, to evaluate ABT-301 (Imofinostat), the Company’s selective Class I histone deacetylase inhibitor (HDACi), across multiple solid tumor types (including osteosarcoma, melanoma, soft tissue sarcoma, bladder cancers and other refractory solid tumors) using established veterinary oncology models.
The collaboration will be led by Lecturer Daiki Kato, Professor Takayuki Nakagawa, and Professor Manabu Mochizuki, Director of the Affiliated Veterinary Medical Center, The University of Tokyo. The research team brings extensive expertise in translational oncology, cancer immunotherapy, and genomic medicine in companion animals, and operates one of Asia’s most comprehensive comparative oncology platforms.
Accelerating Human Clinical Development Through Comparative Oncology
The primary strategic objective of this collaboration is to generate the scientific evidence required to support the expansion of ABT-301’s human clinical indications and to optimize the compound’s combination strategies ahead of future clinical trials. Naturally occurring cancers in dogs are widely recognized as clinically and molecularly analogous to their human counterparts. Among these, canine osteosarcoma represents one of the most extensively studied comparative oncology models due to its remarkable biological and clinical similarities to human osteosarcoma. Insights generated from this naturally occurring disease provide a unique opportunity to evaluate therapeutic strategies at disease stages that are often difficult to study in early human clinical development, making canine data directly informative for human clinical trial design, patient selection strategies, and regulatory submissions. Using The University of Tokyo’s proprietary preclinical models, the collaboration will evaluate ABT-301 as a monotherapy and in combination with other agents, with comprehensive mechanistic analyses to elucidate its mechanism of action and identify the molecular backgrounds most predictive of response. Findings will directly inform indication selection and combination regimen design for future human trials.
Dr. John Hsu, Chairman and CEO of Anbogen Therapeutics, said: “Comparative oncology is far more than animal research. It is a powerful platform for generating cross-species translational evidence that can bridge preclinical findings and human clinical development. Through this collaboration, we aim to evaluate ABT-301 in models that more closely reflect real-world disease biology, generating scientifically robust translational data to support future indication expansion and clinical development decisions. This strategic partnership will enable us to systematically assess ABT-301 across a broad range of difficult-to-treat solid tumors and extend its clinical potential beyond our current colorectal cancer program. The resulting evidence will be critical for designing and supporting the expansion of our ongoing human clinical development into new indications.”
ABT-301 is currently being evaluated in a Phase I/II clinical trial in combination with anti-PD-1 and anti-VEGF in patients with pMMR/non-MSI-High metastatic colorectal cancer. As an isoform-selective Class I HDACi, ABT-301 is designed to modulate the tumor immune microenvironment and sensitize tumors to immune checkpoint inhibition where lies the potential applicability across immunologically cold solid tumors. Importantly, independent Phase III clinical studies evaluating other HDAC inhibitors in combination with immune checkpoint inhibitors have demonstrated significant synergistic efficacy in advanced cancers, including a marked improvement in progression-free survival (PFS). These external clinical findings provide strong proof-of-concept for the HDAC inhibitor–immune checkpoint inhibitor combination strategy and further support the clinical development of ABT-301 across multiple cancer indications.
Dr. Daiki Kato, The University of Tokyo, said: “Naturally occurring cancers in dogs and cats develop spontaneously under environmental and lifestyle conditions shared with humans and evolve through immune editing to acquire complex tumor immune microenvironments. These unique characteristics enable naturally occurring canine and feline cancer models to faithfully recapitulate key biological, immunological, and clinical features that are difficult to reproduce in conventional preclinical models. We believe this collaborative research will generate robust translational evidence to support the clinical development of ABT-301. Our research team is fully committed to maximizing the scientific impact of this collaboration and to providing the scientific evidence needed to support indication expansion and future clinical development of ABT-301.”
About ABT-301 (Imofinostat)
ABT-301 is an orally available, selective Class I HDAC inhibitor designed to reverse immune evasion in solid tumors by enhancing antigen presentation and promoting anti-tumor immune activity. ABT-301 is currently being evaluated in a Phase I/II clinical trial in combination with anti-PD-1 and anti-VEGF therapy for the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer. The Company believes that ABT-301’s mechanism of action has broad applicability across multiple immunotherapy-resistant solid tumor types.
