Hyderabad to Host ‘Colours of India 2026’ Celebrating Indian Classical Arts
Hyderabad, Apr 11 (BNP): A grand cultural evening titled “Colours of India 2026” is set to take place in Hyderabad, showcasing the richness of Indian classical vocal, instrumental, and dance traditions. The event is being organised by Swaranjali Delhi in association with Tatvaa Arts and RMS Audio.
The programme will be held on April 25 at 2 PM at the B M Birla Auditorium, located within the Birla Science Centre complex, Adarsh Nagar, Hyderabad.
Marking 25 years of celebration, the event promises an immersive cultural experience featuring both emerging and established artists. The programme is divided into two sessions.
Session 1 will feature group presentations by Rhythm Dance Academy, along with vocal performances by Akshay Vat Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Shanti Swarop Gurukulam, Raageshree Academy, and Swarasya Gurukulam. Taal Vadya प्रस्तुति will be presented by disciples of Shri Gajender Shewalker.
Session 2 will include performances by noted artists such as Vid. B Pavan Singh (Carnatic Violin), Smt. Hemangi Bhagat (Hindustani Vocal), and Shri Rampaparna Bhattacharjee (Sitar).
The event will also see participation from co-artists including Shri Susamoy Mishra, Shri Vivek Kayal, Shri Rahul Deshpande, and Shri Rama Krishna. The programme is anchored by Smt. Sikha Nath.

Sagarmala Initiative Accelerates Maritime Infrastructure Growth
Apr 11 (BNP): India’s flagship port-led development initiative, the Sagarmala programme, continues to strengthen the country’s maritime economy with significant progress in infrastructure expansion, cargo movement, and employment generation.
According to official updates, the programme has already completed 315 projects, while 210 projects are currently under implementation and another 320 are in the planning stage. These initiatives are aimed at modernising ports, improving connectivity, and boosting industrial activity along India’s coastline.

A major focus has been port modernisation, with 120 projects completed, adding more than 400 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of new handling capacity. In addition, 106 completed road and rail connectivity projects have significantly improved cargo evacuation efficiency, reducing delays and improving trade competitiveness.
The shift toward coastal shipping and inland waterways has also seen strong growth. Coastal cargo movement has increased to 195 MTPA from 87 MTPA, marking a rise of 118%, while inland waterway cargo has surged dramatically to 145.50 MTPA from 18.10 MTPA, reflecting a growth of nearly 700%. This transition has helped reduce logistics costs by moving freight from road to more efficient water-based transport systems.
Officials note that the programme is playing a crucial role in strengthening India’s economic growth by lowering transportation costs, improving supply chain efficiency, and enhancing export competitiveness.
The Sagarmala initiative is also expected to generate large-scale employment opportunities, with an estimated potential of around one crore jobs, including 40 lakh direct and 60 lakh indirect positions through port-led industrialisation and related infrastructure development.
Overall, the programme is emerging as a key driver in transforming India’s maritime sector into a modern, efficient, and globally competitive logistics hub, supporting the country’s long-term economic growth ambitions.

The initiative was aimed at supporting underprivileged communities through the distribution of essential items including food kits, healthcare supplies, clothing, and other daily-use necessities.
Working actively across India, HRCUN continues to play a significant role in uplifting weaker sections of society through grassroots-level interventions, in line with the broader vision of human dignity, equality, and social justice.

Mega Trade Fair Opens in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, Apr 11 (BNP): The 13th Bhubaneswar International Trade Fair 2026 was officially inaugurated Yesterday at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar. The event is being organized by Gupta Event Management Pvt. Ltd. and marks another major edition of the city’s prominent trade exhibition.

Mathura Boat Tragedy: 10 Dead After Steamer Capsizes in Yamuna River
Mathura, Apr.11 (BNP): A tragic incident unfolded in Vrindavan, Mathura, where a steamer boat carrying passengers capsized in the Yamuna River, resulting in the death of at least 10 people. According to reports, around 37 individuals were onboard at the time of the accident.
Eyewitness videos that surfaced later showed passengers enjoying the boat ride with music and bhajans moments before the vessel overturned, turning a festive outing into a disaster.
Authorities have so far recovered 10 bodies, including both men and women, while approximately five persons are still reported missing. Search and rescue operations are actively underway in the Yamuna River, with teams working tirelessly to locate the missing and assist survivors. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed, and on Friday, teams successfully retrieved the capsized boat.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the incident and announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured will be provided financial assistance of ₹50,000.
The cause of the accident is yet to be determined, and authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter.
