Muscat, Oman, July 28 – Zain Omantel International (ZOI), a global hyperscale networking provider, and Tata Communications, the leading global communications technology player, have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on a next-generation inter-operator roaming platform. The collaboration will explore how blockchain technologies can be used to modernise the roaming lifecycle, from partner management and commercial agreements to reconciliation, settlement and dispute resolution.

Through this collaboration, ZOI and Tata Communications will assess a secure platform that uses data driven and machine-led capabilities to automate and simplify roaming operations, while blockchain provides a trusted, transparent and tamper-resistant record of commercial activity between operators.

Sohail Qadir, CEO at ZOI said, “International roaming services including voice calls, messaging and data remain critical to how people and businesses stay connected across borders. Our collaboration with Tata Communications is focused on streamlining international roaming through smarter infrastructure and simplified operating models. Together with ZOI, we are exploring a platform that will help operators streamline operations, strengthen partner collaboration and unlock greater value from their roaming ecosystems.”

The collaboration reflects ZOI’s wider strategy to simplify international telecoms through trusted partnerships, intelligent infrastructure and customer-focused innovation. Economist Enterprise research, supported by HCLTech, confirms confidence in AI is high for the Telecom, Media, Semiconductor and Technology (TMT) industry, but business impact is still limited

New York And Noida, India, July 28: HCLTech, a leading global technology company, today announced the release of a new research report conducted by Economist Enterprise, the business-to-business arm of The Economist Group providing media solutions and intelligence services to organizations. Supported by HCLTech, the report examines how AI is reshaping competitive boundaries across the telecommunications, media and technology (TMT) industries and the widening gap between executive optimism and measurable business impact.

Based on insights from more than 200 C-suite executives across telecommediatechnology and semiconductor organizations in the U.S. and Europe, the research reveals that AI is accelerating convergence across the TMT ecosystem, forcing companies to rethink traditional industry boundaries as competitors, partners, adjacent verticals converge to create new sources of growth, differentiation and value.

The research also highlights an AI value paradox: while 91% of organizations believe their AI investments are delivering results, only one-third can measure the business value created, raising a critical question: how can organizations unlock AI’s full potential if they cannot consistently quantify the value it generates?

The report further highlights an execution gap as organizations move from AI experimentation to scaled adoption. While talent upskilling ranks as the top future AI investment priority, only 20% of organizations currently have a strategy for AI upskilling or hiring within their AI initiatives. Additionally, despite rapid AI deployment, only 17% report that governance is actively shaping how their AI systems operate.

“Our research makes clear that industry leaders recognize how AI can unlock new revenue models, strengthen customer relationships and bring them closer to their end customers,” said Charlotte Bullard Davies, Principal, Research Methods & Innovation at Economist Enterprise. “Organizations that successfully combine strategic focus, ecosystem collaboration and disciplined governance will be best positioned for future business growth.”

“The boundaries that once separated TMT are rapidly dissolving as AI becomes embedded across every layer of the value chain,” said Anil Ganjoo, Chief Growth Officer, and Global Head of TelecomMedia and Technology at HCLTech. “The next era of growth and competitive advantage will belong to organizations that move beyond AI experimentation and adoption toward industrialization, leveraging AI investments to deliver measurable business impact, create differentiated experiences and unlock new sources of growth.”

Preventive Care and HPV Vaccination Key to Ending Cervical Cancer

New Delhi, July 28: The HPV vaccine can play a significant role in preventing cervical cancer and reducing the global burden of the disease, an Indian-American radiation oncologist has said, underlining the importance of vaccination, early screening, and greater health awareness among women.

The oncologist said cervical cancer is among the most preventable forms of cancer, with a majority of cases linked to persistent infection with high-risk strains of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). Expanding access to HPV vaccination and regular screening programmes can help identify risks at an early stage and save lives.

Highlighting the role of preventive healthcare, the expert said timely vaccination, routine medical check-ups, and awareness about cervical cancer symptoms are essential steps towards reducing the impact of the disease.

Health specialists noted that HPV vaccination provides the greatest protection when administered before exposure to the virus, particularly during adolescence. Along with vaccination, regular cervical screening remains a critical tool for detecting early abnormalities and improving treatment outcomes.

The latest health insights highlight the need to strengthen awareness campaigns and improve access to vaccination and screening facilities, especially in underserved communities.

Doctors said a comprehensive approach combining prevention, early detection, and advanced treatment options could bring the world closer to the goal of eliminating cervical cancer as a major public health challenge.

Grant’s appointment marks an expansion of LabX’s remit and broadens her leadership in advancing DXC’s AI strategy. As President, she will lead both LabX’s AI-native product incubation work and the commercial side of DXC’s AI partner platform strategy through the AI Platforms Engine, bringing together AI-native product development, platform expertise and delivery capabilities to help DXC build and scale practical AI solutions for customers alongside its strategic partners. Grant will also continue to lead strategy and innovation for DXC.

“Holly has been a driving force behind our AI strategy and has built LabX into an important source of innovation for DXC and our customers,” said Raul Fernandez, President and CEO, DXC Technology. “What she has built gives us a strong foundation for what comes next. As LabX expands, Holly will bring greater focus, speed, and accountability to some of our biggest AI growth opportunities. She has the vision, and acumen to turn bold ideas into action with speed, and I am confident she will build LabX into an even more powerful growth engine for DXC.”

Launched in April, LabX was created to turn AI innovation into practical solutions that can be tested inside DXC and with customers before being scaled more broadly. With the leading AI capabilities of some of DXC’s strategic partners, LabX will enable DXC to design, build and deploy new AI solutions, bringing the right technologies to customers based on their specific needs including through a dedicated workforce of tens of thousands of forward-deployed engineers, or FDEs who will be embedded directly in customer environments to accelerate agentic AI transformation.

The expanded remit of LabX will strengthen DXC’s ability to develop AI-native solutions and help customers navigate, integrate and build on leading AI technologies. LabX will operate through an open AI ecosystem, reflecting DXC’s view that customer needs will not be solved by a single model, vendor or interface. This approach gives customers the flexibility to select the technologies that best fit their business while drawing on DXC’s industry expertise, mission-critical technology experience and global delivery capabilities to implement them at scale. It also strengthens DXC’s ability to support customers in two ways: by delivering AI-native services and by helping them navigate and build on the AI platforms and technologies best suited to their needs.

Since joining DXC, Grant has helped shape DXC’s AI strategy and establish LabX as an AI-native product incubation capability, accelerating the development of enterprise AI solutions and strengthening strategic partnerships that drive innovation and business growth. Uttarakhand Battles Heavy Rainfall, Char Dham Yatra Put on Hold

Dehradun, July 28: The Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand has been temporarily suspended after heavy rainfall and landslides disrupted several routes across the Himalayan state, prompting authorities to prioritise the safety of pilgrims.

Uttarakhand Battles Heavy Rainfall, Char Dham Yatra Put on Hold

Continuous rain has affected road connectivity in multiple areas, creating difficulties for devotees travelling to the sacred shrines of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Authorities have advised pilgrims to remain cautious and avoid travel until weather conditions improve.

The district administration and disaster management teams are closely monitoring the situation, assessing vulnerable areas, and working to clear affected routes to restore safe movement.

The suspension has affected thousands of pilgrims who were undertaking the annual pilgrimage, but officials said the precautionary measure was necessary in view of the risks posed by landslides and unstable weather conditions.

Uttarakhand has been witnessing intense rainfall, increasing the possibility of road blockages and disruptions in several hill districts. Authorities have urged visitors and local residents to follow safety advisories and rely only on official updates.

Officials said the Char Dham Yatra will resume once the routes are inspected and declared safe, ensuring a secure journey for pilgrims.
