The export initiative was facilitated by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), which supported the promotion of processed food products from the region and helped connect local producers with global buyers.

The shipment highlights the growing potential of Uttarakhand’s food processing sector and reflects the increasing demand for Indian processed agricultural products in overseas markets. The move is expected to encourage farmers, food processors, and exporters to explore new opportunities in the global value chain.

Frozen French fries, made from processed potatoes, have emerged as a high-demand product in international markets due to their convenience and long shelf life. The successful export from Uttarakhand demonstrates the state’s capability to produce quality processed food products that meet global standards.

APEDA has been working to promote agricultural exports by improving market access, supporting exporters, and encouraging value addition in farm products. Such initiatives aim to increase farmers’ incomes, strengthen rural industries, and enhance India’s position in the global food trade.

Samsung Steps Into U.S. Credit Card Market with Galaxy Card Launch

July 22: Samsung has entered the U.S. credit card market with the launch of the Galaxy Card, expanding its digital ecosystem beyond smartphones and consumer electronics while strengthening its presence in financial services.

The new credit card is aimed at offering Galaxy users a more connected digital experience by combining payments, rewards, and mobile services within Samsung’s ecosystem. The launch marks the company’s latest effort to build deeper relationships with consumers through integrated technology solutions.

The Galaxy Card will allow users to manage their accounts digitally, access payment features, and benefit from rewards linked to eligible purchases. Samsung expects the initiative to encourage greater engagement among its growing base of Galaxy device users.

The move places Samsung in direct competition with other technology companies that have expanded into financial services, including Apple’s credit card offering. As technology firms increasingly explore digital payments and financial products, competition in the sector is expected to grow further.

Industry experts believe Samsung’s entry into the credit card market reflects a broader trend of technology companies moving beyond hardware to provide complete digital experiences. By combining devices, software, and financial services, companies are looking to create stronger connections with customers.

With the Galaxy Card launch, Samsung aims to strengthen its ecosystem and establish a greater foothold in the evolving digital finance landscape.

Pharma Shares Under Pressure as New U.S. Tariff Plan Raises Export Concerns

Mumbai, July 22: Shares of Indian pharmaceutical companies came under pressure on Wednesday after concerns emerged over the impact of a proposed U.S. tariff plan on generic drug imports, leading to a decline in the broader pharma sector.

The Nifty Pharma index fell nearly 2 per cent as investors reacted to the potential challenges the new tariff measures could create for companies that depend heavily on exports to the U.S. market. The announcement led to cautious trading, with market participants closely assessing the possible financial impact on drug manufacturers.

India’s pharmaceutical industry is a major supplier of affordable generic medicines globally, and the U.S. remains one of its most important markets. Investors are now watching how the proposed tariff changes may affect pricing, supply chains, and the overall competitiveness of Indian companies.

Market experts said the immediate reaction reflects uncertainty among investors, while the actual impact will depend on the final structure and implementation of the tariff policy. Companies may explore strategies such as cost optimisation, market diversification, and strengthening domestic and international operations to manage potential challenges.

Despite the short-term pressure, industry analysts remain confident in the long-term strength of India’s pharmaceutical sector, supported by its manufacturing capabilities, global presence, and continued demand for affordable healthcare solutions.

Delhi-NCR Gets Rain Relief as More Showers Expected

New Delhi, July 22: Moderate rainfall brought welcome relief to residents across Delhi-NCR on Wednesday, bringing down temperatures and providing respite from the prevailing heat and humid conditions. The showers also improved air quality in several parts of the region, although waterlogging and slow-moving traffic were reported in some low-lying areas.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the rainfall is part of an active monsoon phase that is expected to continue over the next three days. The weather agency has forecast light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms at isolated places, with cloudy skies likely to prevail across the National Capital Region.

The fresh spell of rain is expected to keep daytime temperatures below normal, offering continued relief from uncomfortable weather conditions. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious while commuting, as intermittent showers may lead to traffic congestion and localized water accumulation in vulnerable areas.

The IMD continues to monitor the evolving weather system and has urged the public to stay updated with official forecasts and advisories. The expected rainfall is also likely to support improved water availability and contribute positively to the ongoing monsoon season across the region.
