Set to be completed and operational within 30 months.
This landmark project, valued at Rs 1,000 crore, marks a significant milestone in Sakra’s mission to deliver world-class healthcare powered by Japanese innovation and technology through its collaboration with Secom Medical System and Toyota Tsusho. The new facility will feature G+9 floors and the design will integrate Indo-Japanese architectural elements, blending tradition with modernity.

The new Sakra World Hospital in Bengaluru will deliver cutting-edge healthcare through advanced clinical programs, including a Comprehensive Cancer Treatment Program with LINAC, MR-LINAC, Gamma Knife, Brachytherapy, and state-of-the-art nuclear medicine, alongside specialized Interventional Neuro & Rehab, Cardiology, and Mother & Child Programs with a premium C-Suite. India Adds 1.2 GW Rooftop Solar Capacity in Q1 2025
May 28, 2025 – India added 1.2 GW of rooftop solar capacity in the first quarter (Q1) of 2025, a drop of over 6% from 1.3 GW in Q4 2024. Installations were up 232% year-over-year (YoY) compared to the 366.5 MW installed in Q1 2024, according to Mercom India Research’s newly released Q1 2025 India Rooftop Solar Market Report.
The capacity added during the quarter was the second-highest ever recorded for rooftop solar installations. The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PM Surya Ghar program) remained the primary growth driver, accounting for over 77% of total installations. However, the quarter fell short of setting a new record due to implementation bottlenecks within the program, rising system costs, and a shortage of Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) compliant solar modules.
The residential segment accounted for nearly 78% of installations in Q1 2025. The industrial, commercial, and government segments accounted for approximately 16%, 6%, and 0.4% of total capacity added during the quarter.
Installations under the capital expenditure (CAPEX) model accounted for over 91% of the quarterly additions, and capacity additions under the operational expenditure or renewable energy service company (OPEX/RESCO) model accounted for about 9% of the installations in Q1 2025.
“Momentum in the residential solar segment has slowed due to implementation hurdles in the Surya Ghar program, persistent component shortages, and high system costs. Consumer expectations are not being met, whether it is cost, quality, or installation timelines. Addressing these issues is critical to unlocking the true potential of the residential solar market,” said Raj Prabhu, CEO of Mercom Capital Group.
Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh led rooftop solar capacity additions during the quarter, accounting for more than 16%, 14%, and 13%, respectively.
Rooftop solar tenders totaling 494.2 MW were issued in Q1 2025, down by over 53% quarter-over-quarter and 41% YoY.
Tenders to add rooftop solar systems on government buildings across India accounted for about 82% of tendered capacity in Q1 2025. Almost 39% of the tenders issued for government buildings fell under the PM Surya Ghar program.
In Q1 2025, rooftop solar accounted for over 18% of the total solar installations in the country.
Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan topped the country’s cumulative installed rooftop solar capacity, accounting for over 28%, 15%, and 7%, respectively.
In Q1 2025, the average cost of a rooftop solar system increased by approximately 1% QoQ and was up by nearly 22% YoY.
India’s cumulative rooftop solar installations reached 14.9 GW at the end of Q1 2025.
Between Q1 2024 and Q1 2025, Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest compounded quarterly growth rate, exceeding 15%, followed by Madhya Pradesh and Kerala, with growth rates of over 11% and 9%, respectively. Uttar Pradesh offers an additional subsidy for rooftop solar installations and aims to achieve a 25% share in the PM Surya Ghar program, with a target of installing 2.5 million rooftop solar systems by 2027.
The top 10 states accounted for over 86% of total rooftop solar installations in Q1 2025.
The report also includes a comprehensive analysis of net metering policies in all Indian states and Union Territories.
Key Highlights from the Q1 2025 Mercom India Rooftop Solar Market Report
- In Q1 2025, India added 1.2 GW of rooftop solar capacity, up 232% YoY
- During the quarter, 78% of the installations were in the residential segment
- 91% of the quarter’s installations were in the CAPEX mode

This partnership marks a big leap forward in training a new group of world-class experts ready to tackle the changing needs of the railway industry.
The strategic partnership between MSU and AIRSC combines MSU’s expertise in job-ready education with AIRSC’s strong focus on enhancing rail safety. The collaboration aims to work together to create and offer UG, PG degree programs for college students and graduates that are aligned with the industry needs. MSU and AIRSC will together curate curriculum to develop special training courses and start new research projects. These programs will be part of the AIRSC Academy of Safety and Disaster Management, which is the learning branch of the All India Rail Safety Council. India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 serves as a blueprint for this partnership, which aims to make education more flexible, groundbreaking, and relevant in real time.

The programs will reach students through a three-pronged approach: Online, Blended, and Manual (traditional classroom). This setup ensures that learners across the country can access, adapt to, and build strong practical foundations. To help deliver content, track progress, and engage with specific industries, the partnership will also set up a digital learning portal. As part of this effort, MSU will provide AIRSC-approved courses at its campuses, partner institutions, and authorized centers across the country to boost India’s rail safety and operations.

His Story of Itihaas: The Film That Challenges History — And the Silence Around It
Delhi, May 28, 2025: In an era when history is contested and narratives are under scrutiny, a bold new film is stepping into the conversation. His Story of Itihaas, directed by debutant Manpreet Singh Dhami and starring acclaimed actor Subodh Bhave, is set to release on 30th May 2025.

The film had its special preview screening at Odeon Inox, Connaught Place, New Delhi, hosted by Panchkarma Films. Present at the event was Shri Ashish Sood, Hon’ble Education Minister, Government of Delhi NCT, Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe Chairman, NETF & Executive Committee NAAC, Prof. Kapil Kumar and many more who deeply resonated with the film’s theme and praised its courage.
“This film sheds light on critical aspects of our society that have long remained ignored. Such thought-provoking efforts play a vital role in connecting our youth with the deeper truths of history, society, and life,” Shri Ashish Sood shared after the screening.
A Father, A Teacher, A Question No One Asked
At the heart of His Story of Itihaas is Namit, a quiet physics teacher whose discovery of ideological distortions in his daughter’s history textbooks leads him down a treacherous path — from schools to courtrooms, and from disillusionment to defiance.
Subodh Bhave’s performance captures the inner turbulence of a man who starts off questioning a textbook and ends up questioning the system.
Inspired by the real-life work of Neeraj Atri, a physicist who challenged the content of school history books, the film is the result of director Manpreet Singh Dhami’s four-year research journey — one that was rejected by over 60 actors and funders before it finally came to life.
“They told me not to touch this topic,” says Dhami. “But I couldn’t stay silent once I understood what was at stake.”
A Movement Disguised as a Movie
His Story of Itihaas is not just cinema — it’s a mirror to the education system and the selective storytelling that shapes our national identity. It questions whether our children are learning the truth or merely a version curated by past powers.
The trailer has triggered conversations across social media, with audiences calling it “a gut-punch to intellectual apathy” and “a cinematic call to unlearn.”
