Jason Prevelige Named Director of Sacred Heart University’s Doctor of Medical Science Program
FAIRFIELD, Conn.—Sacred Heart University has appointed Jason Prevelige founding program director of its Doctor of Medical Science (D.M.Sc.) program.
Prevelige, a Sacred Heart alum and longtime educator, returns to the University with more than 17 years of clinical experience and a distinguished record of leadership in physician associate (PA) education, health care advocacy, and professional organizations. As founding program director, he will provide academic, administrative, and strategic leadership for the University’s newly established post-professional doctoral program, overseeing its launch, curriculum, faculty, assessment, and continued growth.
Before joining Sacred Heart full time, Prevelige played an integral role in developing the University’s physician associate studies program, serving on its founding advisory committee, developing the pediatric curriculum, and teaching pediatrics and emergency medicine since the program’s inaugural cohort. He also helped shape the foundation of the Doctor of Medical Science program alongside colleagues Reynold Jaglal, director of the physician associate studies program and Eric Nemec, clinical professor and director of research, assessment, and program development.
Throughout his career, Prevelige has practiced emergency medicine as well as pediatric hospital medicine, neonatology, and urgent care. He has held health care leadership positions for more than a decade and most recently served as assistant medical director in emergency medicine at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. Nationally, he completed a three-year leadership succession culminating in his term as president and chair of the board of the American Academy of Physician Associates. He also served two terms as president of the Connecticut Academy of Physician Associates and continues to chair its legislative committee.
“Dr. Prevelige is a visionary leader whose expertise spans academia, clinical practice, and national professional leadership,” said Karl Minges, dean of the College of Health Professions. “I am confident he will build a distinctive and innovative D.M.Sc. program that empowers physician associates to advance their careers and lead in an increasingly complex health care environment. We are excited to welcome him to Sacred Heart University and look forward to the impact he will have on our students and the profession.”
In a question-and-answer session, Prevelige discussed what drew him back to Sacred Heart University, his vision for the D.M.Sc. program, and how his experiences have prepared him to lead the University’s newest doctoral program.
What attracted you to Sacred Heart University and the D.M.Sc. program?
When the Doctor of Medical Science program was proposed, I was honored to be asked and jumped at the opportunity to assist my colleagues, Drs. Reynold Jaglal and Eric Nemec, in shaping the foundation of the program. When the position of program director was open, it seemed natural for me to apply. I feel now that I have come full circle in my SHU journey and am so thrilled to once again return in such a significant capacity to SHU.
What excites you most about leading the program?
While something new and different can be scary, it can also be exciting. For me, the opportunity to develop a world-class program, built for PAs who are looking for that next step in advancing their knowledge base and career, is an incredible one. I have had a variety of experiences, including my own education, that I am bringing with me, and to take the best of those experiences and share them with others is so unique and does not happen every day!
How have your previous experiences prepared you for this role?
I have been so fortunate in my career that I have been surrounded by phenomenal leaders who have mentored, supported, and helped shape my journey. After my PA education at Quinnipiac University, I quickly became involved in our state’s professional organization, the Connecticut Academy of Physician Associates. I have held a variety of roles, including two terms as president, and I continue to serve as the chair of the legislative committee. That work has provided me the opportunity to help shape health care and health care education in our state through advocacy efforts that have included authoring and amending language that later became law and working closely with our state’s legislators.
That eventually led to my service to our national organization, the American Academy of Physician Associates, where I first served in the House of Delegates, which is the policy making body for the Academy, later as a director at large, and most recently was elected president and chair of the board of directors, with my term just ending June 30.
In that role I had the amazing opportunity to travel across the country and internationally where I engaged PAs, physicians, nurses, and other health care leaders. I advocated for patients and PAs at the federal level and even internationally, had the opportunity to engage the national media and do my part to shape health care in different ways.
Along the way I completed an MBA at Quinnipiac, and my own Doctor of Medical Science at University of the Pacific.
What do you hope students gain from their experience in the program?
I hope to see our students find their own areas of personal growth. My own doctoral education helped me to grow as a leader as I self-reflected, but my own education also grew my network which is where opportunities in leadership often come from. I want to help our students achieve their goals in life by enhancing their already solid foundations with new areas of focus that will allow them to provide even better patient care through a stronger ability to advocate, to lead teams, to educate the health care providers of tomorrow.
Looking ahead, what is your vision for the program?
The opportunities for this program are endless in my opinion. With our SHU Dingle campus, there is an incredible opportunity to expose our students to international models of health care to help inform their work in our system. At the same time, there is opportunity to provide our education to international PAs and carry the SHU mission further abroad. I see the ability to grow relationships, not just among classmates in the program, but between our doctoral students and our PA students so we can create bonds between our PAs of today, with our PAs of tomorrow. Through the Doctoral Capstone, our students will have the ability to make real change in their workplaces, in the literature and in health care.

79 years after Partition, museum to remember those uprooted in 1947 and honour stories of resilience, rebuilding and hope
Aug 15: The Partition Museum, Delhi, in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), commemorated the 79th year of India’s Partition on Friday, August 14th, 2026, at 11 A.M. at the Partition Museum and Cultural Hub, Dara Shukoh Library Building, inside Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Campus, Lothian Road, Delhi.
The memorial ceremony was held in the distinguished presence of Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi, Member Secretary, IGNCA, as the Guest of Honour, Lady Kishwar Desai, Founder and Chair, Partition Museum, Ms Lakshmi Puri (Former Assistant Secretary General, United Nations), Shri K. Mahesh (MD, DKVIB and Secretary ACL Department under the Government of NCT of Delhi).
Though unable to be present in person, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Sardar Taranjit Singh Sandhu, shared his thoughts as, “Partition was not merely the drawing of a border; it was the uprooting of millions from their homes, communities and memories. Delhi bears the imprint of that history in neighbourhoods such as Lajpat Nagar, Punjabi Bagh, Model Town and Khan Market, shaped by the rehabilitation of displaced families who arrived with little, yet rebuilt their lives and contributed to the making of a new nation.
It is this lived history that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi sought to preserve by designating 14 August as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day—a day to remember the pain, honour the resilience of survivors and reaffirm our commitment to unity and harmony.
For me, this resilience has a deeply personal resonance. My grandfather, Sardar Teja Singh Samundri, dedicated his life to courage, non-violence and service, and chose principle over personal liberty, attaining martyrdom in Lahore Central Jail in 1926. His life reminds us that true resilience lies not merely in enduring adversity, but in standing by one’s values and serving a larger cause.
As we remember Partition, let us preserve these stories as legacies of courage, rebuilding and nation-building.”
Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi, Member Secretary, IGNCA and Guest of Honour, shared his views as, “The preservation of memory is an essential part of preserving culture. It is also essential to remember the agony of the Partition to keep our Country united and strong. The stories of Partition live not only in history books, but in oral histories, family photographs, documents and personal belongings passed down through generations. It is also to tell the world about this tragedy, which is one of the biggest human displacements of all time.
IGNCA values its association with the Partition Museum in bringing these lived histories into a larger cultural conversation, so that they may continue to be documented, studied and understood by generations to come.”
The programme brought together Partition survivors and families of eyewitnesses to remember the millions uprooted in 1947, evoking applause and teary eyes. The occasion also marked Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, designated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and was followed by a museum tour offering a glimpse into the personal histories, objects, photographs and documents that keep Partition’s memories alive.
Lady Kishwar Desai, Founder and Chair, Partition Museum, whose vision has been central to creating the Partition Museums, emoted, “The Partition Museum was created to ensure that the voices of ordinary people are not lost to the passage of time. The objects they carried, the photographs they preserved, the documents they saved and, most importantly, the stories they shared, tell us what Partition meant at a deeply personal level. On Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, we remember not statistics or borders, but people, their homes, their losses, their journeys and their extraordinary resilience. This commemoration is also an invitation to younger generations to listen to those memories and understand why they must never be forgotten.“
Lady Kishwar Desai furthered announced that as a special initiative for the 80th year of India’s Independence and Partition, The Partition Museum will undertake a project along with city governments and several young artists to create and place sculptures across the cities of New Delhi, Amritsar and Mumbai to honor the resilience and perseverance of the refugees who began a new life post partition. These sculptures would be of men, women and children, placed at key locations like Lajpat Nagar, Friend’s Colony, Khan Market and Kingsway Camp in New Delhi to mark the pain of those uprooted overnight. In Amritsar and Wagah Border as well there will be sights from the Partition of 1947. This project attempts at bringing the glimpse of personal tragedies of victims of partition out of the closed doors of museums and brings people together from all walks of life to identify with their profound pain.
The Partition Museum in Amritsar, established to mark the 70th anniversary of India’s Partition, was the first museum in the world to collect and publicly display oral histories, documents, photographs and objects carried across the border by refugees of 1947. It was established by The Arts and Cultural Heritage Trust (TAACHT) under the chairmanship of Lady Kishwar Desai, with Mallika Ahluwalia as its first curator. The museum has received more than seven national and international awards.
The Partition Museum, Delhi, is the second Partition Museum in the world. Both museums were conceived as people’s museums, centred on the lived experiences of those affected by Partition, and are run entirely through donations.
Their collections and exhibitions encompass the Punjab and Bengal Partitions, as well as the Lost Homeland of Sindh, bringing together personal narratives and material histories from communities whose lives were transformed in 1947. The museums also feature art installations and artworks by well-known artists who have themselves been impacted by Partition.
Today, the museums welcome national and international visitors, school and college students from India and abroad, and have been written about by international historians and featured in films and documentaries.
The August 14 ceremony at the Delhi museum will bring these strands together—memory, history, culture and lived experience—in an effort to ensure that the human stories behind Partition remain alive for generations that did not witness it.

After we celebrate, they clean up. Their message: respect the Tiranga
Municipal sanitation workers hold placards urging citizens not to discard the Tiranga on roads, in gutters or in garbage bins after Independence Day celebrations.
Hyderabad, Aug 14: The people who clean up our streets after public celebrations are making a simple but powerful appeal: Please do not throw the National Flag on the ground.
Municipal sanitation workers hold placards urging citizens not to discard the Tiranga on roads, in gutters or in garbage bins after Independence Day celebrations. Instead, citizens are encouraged to collect, preserve and dispose of the National Flag respectfully, in accordance with the Flag Code of India.
The powerful visual is part of an awareness initiative conceived by PR CommUNITY on the respectful handling and disposal of the National Flag.
Every year, the Tiranga is hoisted and celebrated with great pride and patriotism. Yet, after the celebrations, discarded flags are often found on roadsides and in garbage. And it is often the very sanitation workers who sweep our streets who have to pick them up.
PR CommUNITY’s initiative has gained added significance with the visit of Priya Ranjan Sarkar, popularly known as the “Flag Man of Bengal,” who has spent more than 15 years collecting discarded National Flags and creating awareness about treating the Tiranga with dignity and respect.
The message is simple: We celebrate the Tiranga with pride. Our responsibility towards it should not end when the celebration ends.

STUDDS launches limited-edition Nardo Grey series across seven helmets, with only 1,947 units produced: A nod to the year India gained independence
Mumbai, Aug 14: STUDDS Accessories Ltd., one of the world’s two-wheeler helmet manufacturers, has launched a limited-edition Nardo Grey colour range across seven of its most popular helmet models, timed to India’s 80th Independence Day. Only 1,947 units have been produced across both gloss and matt finishes. The number is an ode to 1947, the year India gained independence.

Nardo Grey has its roots in the Nardo Ring, a high-speed test circuit in southern Italy, where it first appeared on the Audi R8 and became a defining colour of European performance car culture. The shade’s strength is restraint: form and geometry carry the design, not graphics or finish. That quality has driven its crossover into motorcycle culture globally, and Indian riders are following the same trajectory. A growing segment is moving towards cleaner, more considered colour choices, and the Nardo Grey series is STUDDS’s answer to that shift.
The Independence Day timing carries its own logic. Grey is the operational colour of India’s defence forces: Su-30MKI fighter jets fly in low-observable grey, INS warships sail in battleship grey, and the Indian Army has operated in grey-toned camouflage across theatres. STUDDS has built this launch around that connection that Freedom wears grey. STUDDS calls it The Colour of Honour.
Speaking on the launch, Mr. Sidhartha Bhushan Khurana, Managing Director, STUDDS Accessories Ltd., said,
“Our armed forces embody the ultimate expression of strength, discipline, and silent resilience. With The Colour of Honour, we wanted to bring that same ethos to everyday riders. The Nardo Grey range is a tribute to the tactical aesthetics of our defence forces and a commitment to providing world-class safety to every motorcyclist in India.”
The series spans seven models, each bringing Nardo Grey into a different riding life.
·Helios: premium full-face for the highway rider, engineered for stability and noise reduction at speed.
·Trooper: modular design with a dual-visor mechanism for riders who move between city and open road.
·Ninja Elite Super: flip-up built for mixed conditions, city traffic to open highway without switching helmets.
· Drifter: street-styled full-face with dynamic ventilation for the rider who wants track aesthetics for daily use.
·Raider Super: lightweight urban full-face, compact and built for daily commuters who want full protection without bulk.
· Vogue: open-face with clean ergonomics and unobstructed vision for the city rider.
·Ray Super: wide-visioned open-face designed for comfort across long city hours.
Every helmet in the Nardo Grey edition meets Indian Safety Standards , with two models also carrying DOT certification. The range features high-impact thermoplastic outer shells, regulated-density EPS liners, UV-resistant lacquer to prevent fading, hypoallergenic breathable comfort padding, and quick-release micro-metric chin strap buckles.
The Nardo Grey series is the product centrepiece of “#TheColourOfHonour”, STUDDS’ Independence Day campaign running across Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. The campaign is also marking the occasion by supporting a group of riders on a journey from Bihar to Nepal: a celebration of the road, the country, and the freedom both represent.
