SpiceJet’s Stock Soars as Company Secures Fresh Capital, Experts Bullish on Breakout

New Delhi: – Budget carrier SpiceJet’s Board will meet on Monday (December 11), to decide on the proposal to raise fresh capital in the Company through the issue of equity shares. Sources said the Company was looking for anywhere between $100-1200 million fresh equity infusion.

The airline’s stock jumped 20% on the Bombay Stock Exchange, hitting the upper circuit, on Thursday after the news broke.

Experts are extremely bullish on the stock, which is significantly undervalued.

“SpiceJet, with its market capitalization currently standing at around INR 4000 crore, appears to be significantly undervalued when compared to its peers in the Indian aviation industry. A substantial equity infusion into the airline can turn around the fortunes of the 18-year-old airline,” said an industry expert.

For reference, the market capitalization of IndiGo is INR 1.1 lakh crore. “This stark difference in market capitalization positions SpiceJet as an attractive investment opportunity, offering substantial growth potential and attractive returns for investors,” he said.

The airline has multiple strong points to its advantage. “SpiceJet holds coveted slots and routes at all important Indian and international airports like Dubai, Thailand, Oman, Colombo, Male etc., providing a competitive edge in the market and contributing to its potential for sustained growth. It also has a 200-plus plane order with Boeing for the its 737 Max aircraft.”

“A correction in SpiceJet’s stock prices is imminent and could result in sizeable returns for investors. We believe it stands out as the best bet among Indian aviation companies for growth and returns. SpiceJet’s current share prices present an advantageous entry point for investors looking to capitalize on potential upward movements,” a senior SpiceJet official said.

Global Music Industry Unites: International Music Creators Seminar 2023 Spurs Collaborations, Advocacy, and Visionary Discourse

Mumbai, 7th December 2023: The Indian Performing Rights Society (IPRS) hosted the International Music Creators Seminar on behalf of CISAC and the Asia Pacific Music Creators Alliance (APMA) on December 5th, 2023. The APMA International Music Creators Seminar 2023 featured insightful panel discussions, each dedicated to exploring different facets of the music industry.

How Artificial Intelligence Will Revolutionize the Music Industry

The first Panel was about How Artificial Intelligence Will Revolutionize the Music Industry. Renowned artists and industry experts who attended the panel highlighted the positive potential AI tools have for creators, and the exciting AI revolution that is already happening cannot be stopped. Generative AI can extend the frontiers of human creation,
enhance artistic expression, and deliver to creators new licensing opportunities and revenue streams. But AI also requires smart regulation. The industry needs to come together to prevent AI from undermining human creativity and threatening the livelihoods of creators.

In the discussion Dr. G.R. Raghavendra – Senior Consultant IPR, DPIIT, former Joint Secretary, Govt. of India, Achille Forler Founder Silk Road Communications, João Kruss Gomes Chairman MACA, Mayur Puri – Lyricist & Screenwriter alongside moderator Benjamin NG, Regional Director for Asia Pacific, CISAC shed light on leveraging AI while ensuring regulatory frameworks uphold creators’ rights. “The integration of AI in music creation presents boundless opportunities for artists globally. It’s imperative to develop robust regulations to safeguard creators’ rights in this evolving landscape,” mentioned lyricist, IPRS Board Member and APMA Vice Chairman Mayur Puri.

Commenting on the same, Dr. G.R. Raghavendra – Senior Consultant IPR, DPIIT, former Joint Secretary, Govt. of India said, “In the vast landscape of AI, it’s important to dispel the notion that it’s inherently risky. Throughout the course of technological evolution, every leap forward has been met with the creation of rules and protections to ensure responsible usage. AI, such as ChatGPT, is essentially a machine that can’t replicate the depth of human abilities—it’s not that creative or original. When we talk about using someone’s work, whether in AI or any other field, seeking permission and offering fair compensation is not just a courtesy; it’s a fundamental aspect of ethical practice. In the grand scheme of technological advancements, maintaining fairness and ethical standards becomes the cornerstone of integrating AI responsibly into our lives. So, as we navigate this exciting era of innovation, let’s keep in mind the importance of consent, fair compensation, and ethical considerations in the realm of AI.”

The second panel, Fair Value of Music in the Streaming Economy delved into the streaming landscape, emphasizing the need for creators to receive equitable returns from this burgeoning market. Discussions led by leading creators, legal experts, and industry veterans Dhinraj Shetty – MD of Sony Music Publishing (India), Swanand Kirkire – Lyricist, Singer & Actor, Irfan Aulia – Musician, Managing Director, Massive Music, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Collective Management Organization Wahana Musik Indonesia, Notapol Srichomkwan – Songwriter and chairman MCT, Tarsame Mittal – Music Entrepreneur, moderated by Satoshi Watanabe of CISAC, highlighted the necessity for adaptations and government interventions to ensure a fair music ecosystem.

The third panel, The Future of Female Representation & Contribution in the Music Industry, featured discussions by Lyricist and Screenwriter Kausar Munir, Music Composer Sneha Khanwalkar, Composer and Music Producer Merlyn D’Souza, Music Composer and Producer Hiral Viradia, and Nanni Singh – Chief Executive ShowcaseEvents, moderated by poet and lyricist Irshaad Kamil, on gender dynamics in the music industry. The panel passionately advocated for breaking down stereotypes, fostering inclusivity, and creating a diverse and inclusive musical landscape.

“The industry must actively foster an environment that embraces diversity and empowers female creators. It’s time to dismantle barriers and create more opportunities for women in music”, stated eminent lyricist and screenwriter Kausar Munir.

Javed Akhtar, legendary lyricist, screenwriter, poet, and Chairman of IPRS, expressed his satisfaction with the event’s success, stating, “The International Music Creators Seminar 2023 underscores the power of collaborative innovation. The recently established collaboration with KOMCA ushers in a transformative period, encouraging a dynamic interchange of creation between India and Korea. Our commitment to creating an inclusive and equitable music industry where creator rights are safeguarded and creativity is nurtured was highlighted through stimulating panel discussions. Our narrative revolves around breaking down barriers, creating opportunities, and envisioning a world where creators and creativity flourish. We look forward to bringing such platforms to India and elevate our artists.”

The International Music Creators Seminar provided a platform to underscore the importance of cross-border partnerships and smart regulation for a vibrant and equitable creative landscape.

Boost perimeter protection: audio-video integration for more proactive and rapid responses

Perimeter security is crucial for both businesses and homeowners. Upgrading this with a combination of network speakers and video security systems enables not just viewing, but also interacting with people on camera. Professional speakers vastly improve sound quality and volume compared to cameras with built-in speakers, ensuring clearer communication during security events. This proactive audio and video integration approach to security threats enhances situational awareness and prevents losses.

 Residential security: proactive and responsive
Network audio and video integration provides comprehensive security for residential communities and villas, prioritizing prevention of theft and intrusions. Equipped with real-time alarms to any unwanted activity, these systems can issue live or pre-recorded warnings, actively deterring intruders. When paired with low-light capable cameras, such as IR cameras, night intrusion protection is enhanced. Whether you’re traveling or away on business, this integrated security system ensures your property’s safety and your peace of mind.

Warehouses and office security: better safe than sorry
Warehouses and office buildings face numerous security threats, including intrusion, graffiti, and theft. Network speakers integrated with video security can deter potential incidents before they occur by broadcasting warnings to unauthorized individuals. By delivering messages like “You are trespassing, please leave the area,” potential intruders are immediately alerted to their unauthorized presence. Also, via real-time two-way audio alerts from a centralized location, any dubious parties can be informed of their prohibited presence in specified areas. This audio and video integration bolsters security procedures, safeguarding essential assets.

Critical facilities: precise, timely protection
For large, high-secure facilities like airports or power plants, the complexity of threats escalates to zone violations, sabotage, and even terrorism. Video and audio linkage is especially important in these scenarios. Imagine an airport with extensive fencing covering a significant distance. Thermal cameras are positioned to effectively detect any unauthorized intrusions, even during nighttime hours.
Upon detection, PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom) cameras automatically zero in on the exact location of the potential intrusion. In addition to this, the integration of network speakers act as a deterrent, utilizing pre-recorded messages or direct communication to discourage criminals. However, challenges persist as intruders may attempt to divert attention or trigger false alarms to obstruct security. To address this, the cameras employ advanced intelligent algorithms that accurately distinguish genuine threats from false alarms. By doing so, this comprehensive system ensures top-notch security in expansive outdoor spaces through accurate situation assessment and efficient response.

Integrating audio and video with Hikvision

Hikvision enhances customers’ security experience by integrating its diverse video products with network speakers.

  •   In live monitoring situations, Hikvision cameras bring unique imaging benefits through advanced technologies like DarkFighter and ColorVu, which excel in low-light situations. Furthermore, Hikvision enhances active protection with precise alarms and rapid responses. For example, Smart Hybrid Light  technology enables cameras to trigger visible light when a vehicle or a person appears, capturing pivotal details in vivid color. This precision allows network speakers to optimally deter intruders, as clear vision ensures accurate alarm activation and effective protective measures.
  •  In response to potential threats, Hikvision network speakers deliver pre- recorded or live messages, providing superior incident control to cameras alone. Hikvision speakers support up to 124db acoustic pressure, covering distances up to 300 meters. They can hold up to 1000 audio materials, allowing customization options for tackling vandalism, intrusion, and break- ins.

Hikvision network speakers and related devices can be managed all-in-one with Hikvision software. The combination of video alarm triggering and audible warning, followed by live video feeds for verification, streamlines security process automation. With audio and video integration, feel at ease knowing your safety is in good hands.

Industry Leaders Share Insights, Challenges, and Hopes for the Future

As we approach the conclusion of 2023, leaders across various industries open a window into their worlds, revealing insights, challenges faced, and their aspirations for what lies ahead. The discourse encompasses the revolutionary impact of blockchain and web3 technologies, the dynamic changes within agriculture and agritech, and extends into sectors like retail, fintech, and financial services. These reflections collectively paint a vivid picture of the diverse and evolving landscape that has defined the year, offering a glimpse into the trends and aspirations that may shape the trajectory of these industries in the coming year.

Blockchain:

Srikant Bhalerao, Founder & CEO, Seracle, a full-stack Web3 development platform, says,

I firmly believe in blockchain and web3 technologies as we move toward a decentralized future. I view blockchain as a force for good, not just a technology, and I approach it with a people-first philosophy. The secret is a tokenized, decentralized node infrastructure that gives developers, businesses, and ecosystem operators more power. There’s a real sense of optimism about blockchain’s potential to revolutionize as we look to India. This sentiment is reflected in the MENA markets, which offer a supportive atmosphere for web3 expansion. We’re not only seeing a technological revolution in this age of decentralized possibilities, but also a social one, as trust, cooperation, and innovation come together to create a better future.

Agriculture/ Agritech:

Shashank Singh, Co-Founder – Poshn, a wholesale processed commodity distribution and financing platform says,

Agriculture contributes to over 18.3% of total GVA (Gross Value Added) of the country. The country’s agricultural exports touched all-time highs of $50.2 Bn in the year 2021-20 and $53.2 in 2022-23. It is also the largest employment-providing sector. The current global economic crises have emphasized the significance of agriculture. Governments and investors worldwide are turning their attention to the sector, recognizing its potential to drive economic recovery. As much as the space is a hotbed of opportunities it also is marred with numerous challenges. India has seen a steep hike in the number of startups emerging in the sector in an attempt to solve the numerous challenges that plague it . Supply-chain solutions, tech and innovation, lending etc. are some sub-sectors for these startups. These startups experienced unparalleled amounts of investments pouring in between the years 2021-23. This reflects a strategic shift in priorities. As the world seeks to enhance food security and mitigate the impacts of economic downturns, the agriculture sector becomes a focal point for sustainable growth. With south asia as the food bowl for the world, we can continue to see these investments in the region growing in the decade. With farmers embracing technological innovations such as IoT, AI, Robotics, Big data & analytics, Agri biotech, the industry is being transformed. These innovations will help us solve age-old problems like erratic weather patterns, and sudden shifts in climate. By maintaining a good balance between traditional expertise and the latest innovations, the sector will definitely navigate through challenges and play a pivotal role in leading the economic revival that we are to experience in 2024.

Agriculture/ Agritech:

Sudhanshu Rai, Co-founder, of Fyllo-Empowering Farmers with IoT and AI, says,

The investment trend, the focus has reduced from downstream( market linkages) and increased towards upstream (growing side, climate tech) and it will continue to do so. Downstream businesses bring huge GMV in a shorter period but are very low margin businesses and face huge competition from local players that makes it difficult to scale sustainably. Companies that have raised funds are either pivoting or going down.

Focus on upstream will increase as the climate change is impacting agriculture a lot, for that matter the cotton production has reduced this year in North India due to the untimely attack of Pink ball worm. Similarly the variety which has been resulting in better yield are now prone to diseases and pests and fetching poor yield and quality. So a large amount of innovation is the need of time and hence the investment will flow here. Also, these are good margin businesses and can go global easily, while the distribution network for Agri-input products in India being strong will help scaling faster.

Focus areas will be the companies focusing on increasing production or bringing certainty to farm income like climate resilient or precision agriculture. BioTech companies building a better variety of seeds and bio-fertilizers. Aggregators who are bringing better variety in fruits with focus/partnership on upstream will be the differentiator. FPOs are going to be in focus as companies will target them to test their ‘The whole product’ model. Sustainable packaging companies who are using agricultural waste as input.

Retail:

Chirag Taneja, Co-Founder & CEO at GoKwik a data & technology-led enabler, says

“2023 has been a year that showed e-retail is here to play a long-term game. With digital-first brands like Mamaearth making it all the way to IPO, e-retail continues to cement its standing in the Indian audience’s hearts.

As we look ahead to 2024, the e-retail industry is poised for remarkable transformations. Customer experience will undoubtedly remain at the heart of this evolution, as eCommerce brands strive provide a unique shopping experience that is fast, personalized, and secure.

60% of shoppers across the globe are now preferring online to in-store shopping.

As a result, another trend that we will see next year is the shift towards an omnichannel approach. Digital-first will brands expand their presence beyond the online realm, integrating offline touchpoints to create seamless shopping experiences.

Simultaneously, physical retail outlets will embark on a digital transformation journey, recognizing the importance of establishing a robust online presence.

By harnessing the power of technology and AI, eCommerce brands will be empowered to provide tailored experiences, optimize checkout and ensure profit margins continue to grow without being affected with risks of Return to Origin (order returned to the warehouse before delivery). This will especially be unique to the cash-driven Indian landscape, where a majority of the orders are still being placed in cash on delivery mode of payment.

This will also extend to ensuring enhanced last mile delivery success. Brands will continue to focus on leveraging technology to increase last-mile deliverability and save reverse logistics costs due to RTO.

WhatsApp will also play a key role in nurturing customer experience. Brands will be committed to offering two way personalised communication, targeted marketing campaigns, and completely headless checkout on WhatsApp. The year ahead looks promising for the e-retail landscape and we look forward to growing with this ever-evolving ecosystem”

Fintech/ Financial Services:

Akshar Shah, Founder & CEO, Fixed – an online platform specializing in fixed income investments, says,

As the India growth story continues, we see a large potential in the adoption of technology for banking and investments that new India is warming up to.

This in 2024 is bound to accelerate with more focus on paperless banking and paperless investments across asset classes.

We are also seeing a huge trend and shift towards marketplace models in banking and BFSI. Customers want to evaluate different banks before making their choices and this is set to be one of the prominent themes for digital adoption in 2024.

Education:

Giridhar L V, CEO and Co-founder, at Nuvepro Technologies, says,

As we approach 2024, the education sector is on the brink of a profound transformation, and the role of technology in upskilling is more crucial than ever. We should envision a future where technology seamlessly integrates into hands-on learning journeys, empowering individuals to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. For 2024, I foresee a paradigm shift in the way we approach education for the needs of skilling. In the coming year, personalized and adaptive learning experiences, driven by artificial intelligence and immersive technologies, will take center stage. The goal would be to deliver dynamic, industry-relevant curricula that not only address current skill gaps but also anticipate future workforce demands. The demand for upskilling programs is set to soar in 2024, bridging the divide between traditional education and the dynamic needs of industries. Our focus at Nuvepro is on leveraging cutting-edge technologies to create a learning ecosystem that equips the workforce in getting jobs and projects ready.
