Over 20 talented architecture students showcased their art and technical expertise in repurposing discarded tiles into breathtaking works of art, serving as a testament to their commitment to sustainability and innovation.

This collaboration provided students with a unique opportunity to apply their design skills in a real-world context. Mangalam University.

Hues & Scapes: Solo Exhibition by Nupur Kundu

With the knack of bringing forms to life, where each stroke reveals a new dimension of her artistic expression, Nupur Kundu showcased Hues & Scapes, a collection of new creations in a large grid format, like a Matrix of Hues. The preview scheduled for April 25, 2024, at Dhoomimal Art Gallery, promised to immerse art enthusiasts in a world of color, texture, and imagination.

The artist’s fondness to use oil pigments allows her the freedom to explore thick textured applications, creating layers of depth and complexity on the canvas. On Display May 24, 2024, Hues & Scapes provided an opportunity to the guests to closely follow the journey of discovery, as they explored the indescribable beauty of Kundu’s artistic endeavors.

Being a colorist for all her life and mastering the Impasto technique, the solo exhibition displayed Kundu’s artistic flair of creating mysterious forms on canvas surfaces. She envisioned embodying the ineffable in her work by allowing colors to flow, move, and dialogue with each other, believing that colors carry no thematic burden and were themselves, primarily known as ‘Colours capes’, sharing their purity and intensity.

The artist has experimented with mixed media in MOSAIC SCAPE SERIES by combining abstract oil paintings with intricate ceramic mosaic tiles. The seamless merging of soft oil pigment and mosaic craftsmanship and the rich interplay of colors and patterns in their scapes is a harmonious composition. The use of ceramic mosaic is not just an ornamental frame but an essential, continuous, and integral part of their oil paints. The meticulous cutting and arrangement of fragments form a harmonious whole, a meditative exercise.

Consumers use credit cards and UPI for regular transactions reveals ANQ’s survey report

 29th April 2024 – In a groundbreaking exploration into India’s financial landscape, ANQ today unveiled the results of its comprehensive Credit Card Survey, shedding light on the evolving spending patterns and preferences of consumers nationwide. With insights gathered from respondents from a diverse demographic across India, the survey paints a vivid picture of the contemporary financial habits of Indian consumers. Notably, a staggering 72% of respondents are younger than 30 years old, underlining the significant role of the youth in shaping the country’s financial landscape.

One of the most compelling findings of the survey is the prevalence of multiple credit card ownership among respondents. In a digital era where convenience reigns supreme, nearly half of users reported owning more than one credit card, with 20% of them holding as many as five or more cards. This trend underscores a dynamic approach to managing finances, with consumers seeking versatility and flexibility in their payment methods.

Moreover, the survey highlights the growing importance of rewards programs in driving credit card selection. Nearly 60% of respondents prioritize rewards when choosing a new credit or debit card, with preferences ranging from cashback incentives to points redeemable for goods and services. This emphasis on rewards reflects a consumer base that is not only financially savvy but also discerning in maximizing the value of their spending.

In addition to rewards, the survey underscores a burgeoning interest in digital payment solutions such as UPI. With nearly 49% of respondents utilizing credit cards and UPI for regular transactions, there’s a clear appetite for seamless integration between traditional credit systems and modern technologies. This trend signals a fundamental shift in how consumers interact with and leverage financial tools in an increasingly digital world.

29th April 2024 New Delhi: Celebrating the graduation ceremony of its second batch of the Literary Translation, Creative Writing & Publishing course, the JCB Literature Foundation (JCBLF) and Ahmedabad University hosted a special alumni meet aimed at fostering connections, networking, and inspiring young minds as they venture into the world of publishing. The convocation ceremony featured a vibrant panel discussion with a diverse group of literary translators and publishers, each bringing their unique expertise to the forefront.

Moderated by Professor Tejaswini Niranjana, a distinguished Cultural Theorist and Translator, who also played a pivotal role in designing the course module, the panelists included alumni members of the Course- Divya Kalavala, translator and academician, Rinita Banerjee, editor, and Joshua Reddy, recognized for his expertise as a digital archivist. Also present were Srividhya Venkatesen, known for her prowess in content writing and translation, Sherwin Rodriguez, a skilled writer, and translator, and Bhumika Aggarwal, a freelance writer and translator. Adding to the enriching dialogue was Vijaysagar, a telecom engineer who found passion in translating Tamil literature, alongside Kritika Nautiyal, a dedicated translator.

The round table was followed by the convocation ceremony of the current batch, with addresses by Manish Tayal, Director, JCB Literature Foundation; Jerry Pinto, author, translator, and poet; and VK Karthika, Publisher, Westland Books.
