With several dignitaries present, the event began at 9:00 AM and was flagged off by Dr. HS Ballal, Pro-Chancellor, MAHE. Among those present were Dr. Giridhar P Kini, Registrar, MAHE, Dr. Raviraja NS, Director-Planning and Monitoring, MAHE, and Cdr (Dr.) Anil Rana, Director, MIT.
At 9:50 AM, the Institution Heads and Leadership Team planted saplings to set the event in motion. Cdr (Dr.) Anil Rana gave a welcome address, following which students Ms Shivani R and Mas Tanvi delivered talks on Environment Day in English and Kannada, respectively.
Addressing the audience, Dr. H S Ballal said, “It is of the utmost importance that we attempt to work with, rather than against mother nature. Development can only be ideal in achievement if the needs of future generations are also kept in mind. We must stay away from selfish, harmful practices of production and work towards a future where humanity and environment perfectly co-exist.”
Providing a message on Environment Day, Dr. Giridhar P Kini said, “World Environment Day is a call to remember the importance of the flora and fauna that belong to the planet, just as much as we do. We must work throughout the year, to empower those who cannot empower themselves, which includes plants and animals. This World Environment Day, let us vow to be responsible for a positive change.” He also explained the Sustainable Development Goals and activities of MAHE towards this effect.
Speaking about the importance of Environment Day, Dr. Raviraja NS said, “True environmental revolution can be achieved if we come together and work towards helping our planet develop. By simple steps like keeping our surroundings clean and spreading awareness about the importance of environmental preservation, we all can do our bit for land restoration and to protect our land from desertification and drought. Let us resolve to preserve our planet for future generations.”
Concluding the ceremony with the national anthem, Mr Balakrishna Prabhu, Estate Officer, MAHE extended a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, college faculties, students, and everyone else gathered.

Author Jeff Medeiros’s New Audiobook Garghoul
Tiverton, RI, June 06, 2024 — Jeff Medeiros, who has been enthralled by ghost stories and horror from a young age, has completed his new audiobook, “Garghoul”: a collection of short horror stories, recounting weird tales of the supernatural set in the distant past that weaves together elements of science fiction, mystery, and twisted humor.
Born in Newport, Rhode Island, author Jeff Medeiros has enjoyed reading ghost stories since he was a child, and even claims to have lived in several haunted locations. He spent part of his youth writing poetry, action adventure, science fiction, and song lyrics until he found his true niche in the horror genre. When not writing, the author enjoys spending time on his other passion, woodworking. Currently, the author resides in Tiverton with his wife, Stephanie, and his cat, Samwise.
“Ever get the midnight creeps? Ever find yourself in the thorny grip of mortal terror?” writes Medeiros. “Ever hear the tale of a woman who said when she was a child, a strange tree tried to eat her? Scarred for life and plagued by nightmares, she returns to her abandoned village to face her childhood fears. Meet Morty the Sly and he’ll introduce you to his ‘little lovelies’ and the curse of Newport. Or sail far and deep to a lonely island inhabited only by an eccentric seafarer and his unique nautical exhibits, just don’t get too close to the tanks. Read the story of the odd Silver Baden and the woodchipper. Sometimes, you must nip evil in the bud.
“Ever hear the legend of the terrifying Frogman of New Hampshire? Do you dare join the expedition up the mountain in the night? Don’t forget your camera and follow Claudius the cryptozoologist, but don’t be too rattled, for who fears a beast with no mouth to speak of? Hear the story of Gretta Garrabrandts, a brave young girl who took on a devastating and malevolent alien entity on her own. Meet a man with a dark and twisted mind, tortured by devilish dreams, cryptic whispers in the night, and the scratching within the walls.”

Throughout the years, various patients have remained in my memory for one reason or another, most often for a memorable stay while in the hospital, and those are the stories that I have attempted to capture here. I have told many of these stories to my family and friends and finally decided to put pen to paper to record them once and for all.”

William Reveley’s Newly Released The Absent Atom

Wilmington, NC, June 05, 2024 –“The Absent Atom”: a groundbreaking treatise on atomic theory and cosmology. “The Absent Atom” is the creation of published author, William Reveley, who joined NASA and began performing research and development in the area of advanced spacecraft environmental control systems following completion of his Bachelor of Science degree. His post grad work dealt primarily with mathematics and physics. He has received several individual-performance and team awards and is currently retired and living with his family in North Carolina.
Reveley shares, “The Absent Atom is a logic sequence that leads to a continuous field intuitive model of the atom. The electron in this coupled matter wave orbital moves along a local geodesic with an increased clock rate. The coupled orbital is shown to be in a closed hyperbolic space. Implicit in this is that the fundamental gravitational force in the universe is reactive—a push instead of a pull—and that the reality of black holes is problematic, also bringing into question the existence of dark energy and the structure of the universe itself.”

Los Angeles, CA, June 04, 2024 — Student LunchBox (“SLB”), a California-based anti-hunger organization, today announced its continued support from GoldenTree Asset Management (“GoldenTree”), a leading asset management firm, to tackle food insecurity among college students in Los Angeles.
SLB provides essential resources and services to over 4,000 students monthly across institutions from San Fernando Valley to Long Beach. It offers a range of services, including food pantries, meal programs, and emergency food assistance, tailored to meet the diverse needs of the student population. SLB’s efforts are driven by a commitment to reduce food insecurity among college students, recognizing that access to nutritious food is a critical component of academic success. Through partnerships with local businesses, community organizations, and volunteers, SLB has created a robust network of support that ensures students have the resources they need to thrive.
In 2023, GoldenTree Asset Management, as part of its annual GoldenTree Gives campaign, partnered with Student LunchBox to help expand their Los Angeles operations and support California students in need. This year, their ongoing collaboration grew SLB’s reach towards new universities, including California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) and NYU Los Angeles.
“GoldenTree is not just a sponsor; they have become an integral part of the SLB’s family,” said Karlen Nurijanyan, CEO of Student LunchBox. “They have wholeheartedly embraced our mission to address the often overlooked issue of food insecurity among college students, and their support has been crucial in helping us make a lasting impact on our students’ lives. With their continued partnership, we have been able to expand our reach, providing nutritious meals to more students and alleviating food insecurity across numerous campuses. Together, we are creating a stronger, healthier future for the next generation.”
“GoldenTree is thrilled to partner once again with SLB for our annual GoldenTree Gives Campaign, helping to combat food insecurity among college students in Los Angeles,” said GoldenTree Founding Partner Steven Shapiro. “Community service is deeply embedded in the fabric of our culture, and we remain strongly committed to advancing the transformative work that SLB envisions and executes on a daily basis. We look forward to strengthening our relationship with SLB and continuing our joint efforts in the fight against hunger – so that no student ever has to struggle with food insecurity.”

Robin Gonsalves, Program Manager at NYU Los Angeles, said “Student LunchBox has been an incredible addition to our NYU Los Angeles campus! This partnership has allowed us to offer free fresh produce, frozen food, and canned vegetables and pantry staples to our student body, becoming their first stop on ‘grocery day’. According to NYU LA students, our ‘on campus pantry’ has provided them with snacks to power them through evening classes and clean, healthy ingredients to prepare their weekly meals. This partnership has been especially helpful to students experiencing financial hardship in Los Angeles as they attempt to keep up with rising food costs in a major city.”
