Jeanine Faietta Eastman’s Book Blizzard the Ice-Harvesting Horse

Jeanine Faietta Eastman’s Book Blizzard the Ice-Harvesting Horse

Windham, ME, April 16, 2024 — Jeanine Faietta Eastman, author of “The Very Same Moon,” has completed her new book, “Blizzard the Ice-Harvesting Horse”: a charming story set in Maine during the early 1900s that follows a horse named Blizzard as he helps his human friends harvest ice from the frozen lake in order for others to use it to store their food throughout the year.

Born and raised in the great state of Maine, author Jeanine Faietta Eastman grew up on Highland Lake with her family, where she cherished the fresh and frozen lake waters since childhood. She fondly remembers her grandpa’s stories of ice harvesting that took place on the lake during the early 1900s and finds it fascinating that the frozen lake water provided such a valuable commodity to many local Maine families. She believes it is important to tell the story of the frozen crops to younger generations so they would learn what life was like for those who came before them.

“Isn’t it so cool that ice was harvested from the frozen waters of Highland Lake?” writes Jeanine. “That’s how it was done in the early 1900s, so many years ago! Saddle up as Blizzard, the ice-harvesting horse, shares his adventures while he and his neighbors work together during the frigid Maine weather.

“With the cold wind blowing, it messes up his long mane. Oh well, lake hair, he doesn’t care. After all, Blizzard’s mane keeps him warm. He can make it through any storm! Cutting and harvesting the frozen crops into blocks of ice, assuring that freshly picked Maine strawberries stay cold through the hot Maine summer. Without ice, that would be a bummer! Neighbors helping neighbors, you will surely see why Maine has always been the way that life should be.”

Author Gary L. Joralemon’s New Book The Stadium Steps

Author Gary L. Joralemon’s New Book The Stadium Steps

Arroyo Grande, CA, April 15, 2024 — Gary L. Joralemon, who holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and a master’s degree in leadership from St. Mary’s College of California, has completed his new book, “The Stadium Steps”: a gripping tale that centers around a probation officer who finds himself in the Pacific Dunes Rehabilitative Hospital for a traumatic brain injury, but discovers that this facility may not be exactly what it appears to be.

After thirty-three years in law enforcement, author Gary L. Joralemon retired from the San Luis Obispo County Probation Department, having risen to the rank of chief deputy probation officer. Gary has served on the faculties of the Alan Hancock College Law Enforcement Academy, Cuesta College, and California State University, San Luis Obispo. He specializes in issues pertaining to law enforcement use of force and ethics. He is a former Police and Fire Olympic wrestler and participated in the 2005 Outrigger Canoe World Championships in Molokai, Hawaii.

“‘The Stadium Steps’ is actually two tales,” writes Joralemon. “It’s the story of a probation officer, the son of a slain police officer, raised by his mother and a parish priest who becomes a surrogate father to the boy. But Father Iggy is more than a paternal figure in the life of Michael O’Shea. The priest becomes his boxing coach and, at an early age, may have sowed the seeds for the traumatic brain injury which leads to O’Shea’s placement in a medical facility for patients with brain trauma. O’Shea soon finds that all is not as it appears in the Pacific Dunes Rehabilitative Hospital, and like the carpenter who can’t bring herself to hire someone else to repair a broken piece of furniture, O’Shea takes matters into his own hands. At the end of the day, ‘The Stadium Steps’ is a morality tale, so at its conclusion, like these characters, you ask the same question: ‘What would you do if you were Michael Ignatius O’Shea?’”

Author Susan Chappell’s New Book, Resuming the Kalifee

Author Susan Chappell’s New Book, Resuming the Kalifee

Ellaville, GA, April 11, 2024 –Susan Chappell has completed her new book, “Resuming the Kalifee”: an enthralling fantasy novel that follows the next chapter for the Kalifee people.

The evil Gogatt has not been seen in at least two suns. Things are going so well for the Kalifee people. The crops are thriving, and the brothels are at their highest revenue. The divine lives within all people and the Kalifee know it and express it so well. There is love and love lost. Betrayal is waiting in the wonderful disguise of love, giving, and commitment. These fighting women and men do so much more than fight the enemy. The internal struggle, after all, is the greatest fight of all.

Author Susan Chappell writes, “The Gogatt had not been seen in more than two turns of the earth around the sun. The Califia made sure that patrols were out almost every day. Niea and her team scouted regularly. Not a single sign had been seen of any marauders. No slavers, no beatings, no rapes, and no Gogatt. Many trip wires had been located and removed. No one so far had been caught in their evil traps. If it had not been for Vahar getting Cal and Tulie loose from the deadly snares; surely they would both be dead. Everyone was so grateful to her for her skill, bravery, and using what she had to do what she needed to do. Her story would surely become a Kalifee legend—getting that close to several Gogatts, successfully killing all four of them, and saving two of the most talented fighters in the Kalifee, all while being nine moons pregnant. Now that was a matter for a heroine’s journey.”
