RCB Clinch Back-to-Back IPL Titles, Defeat GT by Five Wickets in IPL 2026 Final
Ahmedabad, June 1 (BNP): Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) continued their dominance in the Indian Premier League (IPL), clinching their second successive title with a convincing five-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2026 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

A clinical all-round performance, spearheaded by Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 75 and a disciplined bowling display from the pace unit, helped Bengaluru comfortably chase down a modest target of 156 with two overs to spare.
Opting to bowl first, RCB bowlers delivered under pressure, dismantling Gujarat’s batting lineup and restricting them to 155/8 in 20 overs. Fast bowlers Rasikh Salam, Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck crucial blows at regular intervals to keep GT under control throughout the innings.
Josh Hazlewood provided the early breakthrough by dismissing Gujarat skipper Shubman Gill for 10, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar removed Sai Sudharsan soon after, denting GT’s hopes in the powerplay. Gujarat struggled to recover as wickets continued to tumble against Bengaluru’s disciplined attack.
Despite the collapse, Washington Sundar stood firm and played a fighting unbeaten knock of 50, helping Gujarat cross the 150-run mark. Nishant Sindhu and Jos Buttler attempted to stabilise the innings but failed to convert their starts into substantial contributions.
Chasing 156, Bengaluru got off to a flying start courtesy of Virat Kohli and Venkatesh Iyer, who stitched together a quickfire 62-run opening stand. Iyer’s aggressive 32 off 16 balls gave RCB early momentum before Mohammed Siraj broke the partnership.
Kohli then took complete control of the chase, anchoring the innings with composure and authority. The veteran batter smashed nine boundaries and three sixes in his unbeaten 42-ball 75, registering his fifth half-century of the season.
Although Gujarat found brief hope through Rashid Khan, who dismissed Rajat Patidar and Krunal Pandya in quick succession, Kohli steadied the innings alongside Tim David and later Jitesh Sharma to guide Bengaluru home.
Kohli fittingly sealed the title with a towering six, sparking celebrations among teammates and thousands of RCB supporters inside the packed Narendra Modi Stadium.
Named Player of the Match, Kohli described the moment as a dream fulfilled and credited the team’s confidence and consistency for the successful title defence.
With the triumph, skipper Rajat Patidar joined an elite list of captains to win consecutive IPL titles, while RCB further cemented their status as one of the tournament’s dominant forces in recent seasons.
Gujarat Titans, meanwhile, ended runners-up for the second time in three IPL finals, with their only title victory coming in their debut season in 2022.

The competition encouraged participants to strengthen their understanding of addiction, public health, and the broader social impact of tobacco and drug use, while fostering healthy competition and awareness.
Tobacco continues to be a major global public health challenge and a leading cause of preventable deaths, underscoring the need for sustained engagement and early awareness among young people.

FSSAI Seeks Explanation from IRCTC Over Alleged Hygiene Lapses in Train Catering Services
New Delhi, May 29 (BNP): The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a formal notice to the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) over allegations of unhygienic practices in onboard catering services after a video circulating on social media allegedly showed utensils being washed inside a train toilet, raising serious concerns over passenger food safety and hygiene standards.
Representational image
Taking cognisance of the incident, FSSAI sought a detailed factual explanation from IRCTC and directed the agency to submit its comments on the matter. The food safety regulator observed that, if verified, the alleged practice would amount to a serious violation of hygiene and sanitary norms prescribed under Schedule 4 of the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011.
Under the regulations, food business operators are required to maintain stringent hygiene protocols for food processing, handling, cleaning and washing to ensure that food and food-contact surfaces remain free from contamination. Officials emphasised that any lapse in compliance could pose potential health risks to passengers and undermine food safety standards in railway catering services.
FSSAI further reiterated that adherence to food safety regulations is mandatory for all catering operations, including services managed directly by IRCTC as well as those handled through contractual personnel engaged in onboard food distribution.
The incident has reignited public concern over hygiene and quality control in train catering, particularly on long-distance routes where thousands of passengers depend on onboard meals during travel. Experts and consumer groups have stressed the need for stricter monitoring, regular inspections and stronger enforcement of food safety protocols to improve accountability and ensure safe food handling practices.
IRCTC is expected to respond to the notice and clarify the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident, following which authorities may decide on appropriate corrective or regulatory measures.
The development once again underscores the importance of maintaining high hygiene standards in mass transit systems, where lapses in food safety can have wide-reaching implications for public health and passenger confidence.

GT vs RR: High-Voltage Qualifier 2 Clash Promises Thriller in IPL 2026
New Chandigarh, May 28 (BNP): Gujarat Titans (GT) will take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a high-pressure Qualifier 2 encounter of IPL 2026 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh, on Friday, May 29. The winner of the do-or-die clash will secure a place in the grand finale of the tournament.

The match promises to be an exciting contest between two sides entering the playoffs under contrasting circumstances. Gujarat Titans suffered a heavy defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Qualifier 1 and will be eager to bounce back strongly, while Rajasthan Royals head into the match with momentum after registering three consecutive victories.
GT had dominated RR by 72 runs during their previous league-stage meeting, but playoff cricket often presents a different challenge, with form and pressure playing decisive roles.
Much of the spotlight will be on Rajasthan Royals’ teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, whose explosive batting has become one of the biggest talking points of IPL 2026. The 15-year-old batter from Bihar grabbed headlines with a stunning 97-run knock off just 29 deliveries in the Eliminator, helping RR storm ahead and strengthening his reputation as a match-winner.
If Sooryavanshi fires again, RR could gain an early advantage during the powerplay. However, his early dismissal may expose Rajasthan’s inconsistent middle order against Gujarat’s experienced bowling attack led by Rashid Khan, Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada.
For Gujarat Titans, improving their fielding will be a key concern after costly lapses in Qualifier 1 against RCB. Missed opportunities and dropped catches proved expensive as Rajat Patidar’s unbeaten 93 off 33 balls powered RCB to a massive total. GT will look to avoid similar mistakes against an aggressive RR batting lineup.
Weather could also play a minor role in the contest, with forecasts indicating a slight possibility of rain before the match in New Chandigarh, though no major disruption is currently expected.
Match Details:
Fixture: Gujarat Titans vs Rajasthan Royals – IPL 2026 Qualifier 2
Date: Friday, May 29, 2026
Time: 7:30 PM IST
Venue: Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh
In their previous meeting this season, Gujarat Titans defeated Rajasthan Royals by 72 runs, but with a final berth at stake, both teams are expected to deliver a fierce contest under pressure.

10ZiG modernized zero clients strengthen cybersecurity and simplify cloud desktop management at Beesley & Fildes
Leicester, UK – May 28, 2026 – 10ZiG® Technology, a leading provider of thin and zero client hardware and software solutions for VDI, DaaS, and web application environments, today announced that Beesley & Fildes, one of the Northwest of England’s oldest independent builders’ merchants, has deployed 10ZiG modernized zero clients across its branch network to strengthen cybersecurity, simplify endpoint management and support the company’s long-term cloud computing strategy.
Established in 1820, Beesley & Fildes is a multi-million pound, family-owned builders’ merchant operating nine branches across the Northwest of England. The business supplies building materials to a wide variety of trades including construction, civil engineering, landscaping, plumbing and heating, kitchens and bathrooms, joinery and roofing. Today, the company employs around 300 staff and supports a hybrid IT environment spanning branch operations, remote workers and cloud-hosted applications.
The deployment forms part of Beesley & Fildes’ wider investment in Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and secure endpoint management. The company currently manages more than 150 endpoints across desktops, laptops and zero clients, underpinned by technologies including VPN connectivity, multi-factor authentication (MFA), remote monitoring and management (RMM), mobile device management (MDM) and conditional access controls.
The decision to move to 10ZiG resulted as Beesley & Fildes’ previous thin client endpoint supplier, AXEL, ceased trading which created concerns around cybersecurity compliance and the inability to receive future firmware and security updates.
After reviewing solutions from various vendors, 10ZiG was selected following a successful proof-of-concept trial involving 10ZiG modernized zero clients running 10ZiG’s locked down Linux NOS software connecting to a Remote Desktop Services (RDS) environment in Microsoft Azure. The final deployment included the purchase of powerful 10ZiG 7048q Series and ultra compact 10ZiG 4648q Series devices, managed centrally through free 10ZiG Manager software.
“We take cybersecurity extremely seriously and simply could not continue running endpoints that were no longer receiving firmware and security updates,” explains Rob John, Beesley & Fildes’ IT Services Manager. “Our original devices themselves were still working perfectly well, but we had to protect the business and ensure we remained compliant from a cybersecurity perspective.”
“We looked at multiple vendors, but 10ZiG immediately stood out because they actually engaged with us to understand our environment,” adds John. “Other bigger vendors largely treated us as just another order number whereas 10ZiG worked with us closely throughout the entire procurement process. We trialed their devices, connected them to our Azure environment and quickly realised just how easy they are to deploy and manage.”
Supplied by 10ZiG partner, Panacea Logic, the new endpoints enable staff across branch counters and sales offices to access core business applications including Microsoft 365 and Epicor BisTrack, the company’s specialist ERP platform designed for the building supply industry.
Using 10ZiG Manager, Beesley & Fildes automated device naming, remote configuration and deployment processes, significantly reducing rollout times and simplifying ongoing endpoint administration.
“The automation within 10ZiG Manager has been hugely impressive,” says Shaun Partington, Beesley & Fildes’ IT Systems Administrator. “We were able to configure the management platform so that devices automatically renamed themselves and pulled down the correct configuration profile as soon as they connected to the network.”
“In practical terms, that meant we could deploy devices incredibly quickly,” adds Partington. “Once the prep work had been completed, we literally plugged a zero client device into the network and within seconds it was configured and ready for the user.”
The rollout across nine sites was therefore completed easily by Beesley & Fildes’ two-person IT team, with no disruption to end users. Staff transitioned seamlessly onto the new endpoints while continuing to access the same cloud-hosted applications and services.
“For us, one of the biggest successes was the simplicity and speed of deployment. Years ago, firmware updates involved physically travelling between branches with USB sticks,” says John. “With 10ZiG, everything is centrally managed and automated. That represents a massive operational improvement for a business like ours which operates across multiple sites. Users simply log in to access applications exactly as before. But behind the scenes, we now have far more modern, secure and manageable endpoint infrastructure.”
Beesley & Fildes also sees the deployment as laying important foundations for future desktop virtualisation initiatives, including the potential future adoption of Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
“Organizations increasingly need endpoint solutions that simplify management while supporting secure, cloud-based work environments,” says James Broughton, 10ZiG’s Sales Director EMEA. “Beesley & Fildes is an excellent example of how companies can update endpoint infrastructure quickly while improving security, operational efficiency and long-term flexibility and we’re delighted to support their ongoing cloud and digital workplace strategy.”
