Special Advisory: Tata Power-DDL Advises Caution During Independence Day Kite Flying Festivities
As the nation gears up to celebrate Independence Day with the vibrant tradition of kite flying, Tata Power-DDL (TPDDL), a leading power utility supplying electricity to over 2 million customers in North & North West Delhi, urges the residents of Delhi to prioritize safety, by indulging in the fun of kite flying away from Electrical Installations and Overhead Power Lines, as it could lead to possible power disruptions and/or electricity related accidents.
The metal-coated thread (commonly known as Manjha) used in flying kites can cause electric lines to trip when it comes in contact with the power lines. Since Metallic Manjha can also conduct electricity, it can lead to severe damage such as electrical shocks. Tripping of even one 33/66 KV overhead power lines can lead to the disruption of power supply of over 10,000 residents of an area and tripping of a single 11 KV line of over 2,500 residents.
Tata Power-DDL requests its customers to use kite string made of cotton or any other natural fiber instead of the metal coated thread- manjha, as per the Government regulations and be mindful of the electrical network.
As a part of enhancing public awareness and ensuring safety, Tata Power-DDL has intensified its outreach and aims to engage approximately 200,000 households in the JJ clusters and resettlement colonies. The company’s Social Impact Group (SIG) through its team of 1000 ABHA members have been instrumental in raising awareness about electrical safety within the local communities. In addition to community awareness, the discom has issued Safe Kite Flying Advisory and is distributing safety guideline leaflets, to educate the customers towards the importance of safety during kite flying activities. Tata power DDL has also engaged Radio FM for spreading awareness w.r.t. Safety during Kite Flying, in the interest of the public of Delhi. The discom is also conducting special awareness sessions in various Govt. and Private Schools of Delhi, for educating students about the hazards related to Kite Flying and how to deal with it.
With the help of cutting-edge Geospatial Techniques available at Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), Tata Power-DDL analyses the past trends of service disruptions and visualize the areas such as Jahangirpuri, Mangolpuri, Sultanpuri, Kirari, Bhaslwa, Burari, Badli, Karala, Wazirpur and Bawana etc. that are prone to get affected by kite flying-induced interruptions.
Sharing his insights on careful kite flying, Mr. Rajesh Bahl, Chief – Operations & Safety Tata Power-DDL said, “Kite flying is a cherished part of our Independence Day celebrations. However, it’s crucial to remember that the metallic kite-string can cause tripping of power lines when it comes in contact with the electrical network. It can have severe consequences including fatality. We urge all customers to celebrate Independence Day responsibly and keep kites away from power lines, transformers, and other electrical infrastructure for a safe Independence Day.”
By adhering to essential kite flying safety tips, electricals hazards can be avoided:
Choose open areas away from overhead power lines and electrical installations for kite flying.
Don’t use metal-coated kite string or ‘manjha’ as it can trip power lines and cause serious electricity-related accidents.
In case a kite gets stuck on power lines, do not attempt to retrieve it.
Educate children about the importance of safe kite flying practices and ensure they are supervised while flying kites.
For any emergencies or to report any unsafe situation/ untoward incident related to electrical network
For Kite Flying safety tips, log on to Tata Power-DDL’s Facebook Page and X (formerly Twitter) Handle.

Reckitt Elevates Its ‘Self-Care Efforts for New Moms & Kids Under 5’ to Make Change at Grassroots Level
New Delhi, 06.08.2024: Reckitt, a global leader in health and hygiene, has significantly strengthened its pioneering ‘Self-Care for New Moms and Kids Under 5’ program in rural and tribal communities across India through new partnerships and targeted educational campaigns that emphasize proper nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention. As part of the accelerated efforts, Reckitt has partnered with Plan India NGO to raise awareness and education regarding the issue and launched a new theme song to amplify the message.
The global leader in health unveiled the Self-Care theme song, ‘Maa E Maa,’ sung by internationally acclaimed Gujarati folk singer Geeta Rabari at the 8th CSR Health Impact Awards by the IHW Council in New Delhi. The song celebrates the nurturing bond between mothers and children. With evocative lyrics and a soulful melody, it raises awareness and honors the vital role of mothers in child development.
Notably, the ‘Self-Care Efforts for New Moms & Kids Under 5’ initiative, which Reckitt had recently aligned with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s ‘Stop Diarrhoea Campaign,’ launched by J.P. Nadda, Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, aims to promote self-care as an essential component of primary healthcare.
The program carried out in partnership with Plan India, is designed to democratize self-care by focusing on key areas of well-being, including diet diversity, physical activity, and hygiene. The program aims to foster healthier lives and drive meaningful changes in attitudes and behaviors, ultimately improving health outcomes for mothers and young children.
Reckitt’s initiative is guided by the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Self-Care Guidelines 2022 and other comprehensive plans like the 7-Point Plan on Comprehensive Diarrhoea Control and the Integrated Global Action Plan for the Prevention and Control of Pneumonia and Diarrhoea (GAPPD). The program aims to educate new mothers and caregivers about essential self-care practices, encourage proper nutrition, hygiene, and lifestyle habits, engage local communities to drive health improvements, prevent diseases like diarrhea and pneumonia, offer nutritional counseling, and provide education on vital hygiene practices such as handwashing and clean water use. Additionally, the initiative supports health practices like antenatal check-ups, birth spacing, and overall well-being through activities such as yoga.
Ravi Bhatnagar, Director of External Affairs and Partnerships, SOA, Reckitt, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative. He stated, “At Reckitt, our mission is to protect, heal, and nurture towards a cleaner, healthier world. We are committed to ensuring that access to top-quality hygiene, wellness, and nutrition is a fundamental right for everyone, not a privilege. Our ‘Self Care for New Mothers and Kids Under 5’ initiative, launched in 2023, specifically addresses the challenges isolated, economically disadvantaged communities face. By focusing on tribal areas in Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, this program builds on previous efforts like the Nutrition India Program and Reach Each Child, providing essential knowledge and resources to empower mothers and children.”
The initiative provides comprehensive support, including mental health, maternal nutrition, and disease prevention. By combining on-ground activities with digital campaigns, the project ensures broad outreach and support. Mohammed Asif, Executive Director of Plan International (India Chapter), highlighted the importance of self-care, particularly in underserved areas with limited healthcare access.
“Self-care is crucial for managing health, especially in underserved areas with limited healthcare access. It involves health promotion, disease prevention, and supporting mental well-being through balanced diets, exercise, and stress management. Self-care helps reduce healthcare costs and eases the burden on health systems, particularly benefiting low-income communities,” Mohammed Asif said.
Reckitt aims to empower 10 million mothers and children across targeted regions. The initiative’s alignment with WHO’s guidelines and the ‘Stop Diarrhoea Campaign’ utilizes door-to-door visits, health counseling, and culturally resonant awareness campaigns to improve health outcomes. Culturally relevant methods, such as wall paintings, community plays, and songs, are employed to maximize impact. Local health workers, like Gulabi Devi, play a vital role in delivering health messages, and regular stakeholder meetings ensure the program’s relevance and support.
The initiative has already impacted 64,000 women through household counseling in 210 villages across five districts in three states. It has reached 9 million people through digital platforms and 64.5 million through PR. The program has covered 78,000 households through visits and engaged 661,000 individuals via 300 ‘Nukkad Natak’ performances. Additionally, 28,000 children under five have been monitored for diarrhea and pneumonia.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season Two Soundtrack Releases Worldwide on August 23, 2024
Mumbai, India— August 6, 2024 — Today, Amazon MGM Studios announced The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (Season Two: Amazon Original Series Soundtrack) will be released worldwide on August 23rd, tied to the highly-anticipated return of the series later this month. Available across all music streaming services, the full episodic score for the second season of the Amazon Original series was composed by Emmy® Award-winner Bear McCreary (Da Vinci’s Demons). The soundtrack will also include two new songs featuring renowned vocalists Rufus Wainwright and Jens Kidman, respectively.

Digital and streaming of the Season Two soundtrack will be available on August 23rd, and on that same date, vinyl can be pre-ordered at Amazon Music and HERE. A special Collector’s Edition will also be available for pre-order exclusively on Amazon Music. Following each episode, Amazon Music will release a weekly soundtrack album containing the score for that episode, only available on Amazon Music.
For the epic first season of Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, composer Bear McCreary wove a tapestry of symphonic orchestra, bombastic percussion, and folk instruments from across Europe and North Africa, combined with solo vocalists and choirs singing in the iconic languages of J.R.R. Tolkien’s books. For the gripping second season, McCreary has built atop that foundation with dynamic new themes and colors, including Bulgarian women’s choir and gadulka for Rhûn, children’s choir for the pastoral city of Eregion, Hardanger fiddle for new character Estrid, and deathly whispers for the terrifying Barrow-wights.
After collaborating with the iconic Fiona Apple for the first season’s “Where the Shadows Lie,” McCreary continues the tradition by inviting two featured vocalists to join him on new songs for the Season Two score. Grammy-nominated artist Rufus Wainwright brings thoughtful introspection to his rendition of “Old Tom Bombadil.” “The Last Ballad of Damrod,” a song about a vicious Hill-troll, is brought to terrifying, screaming life by Jens Kidman, the unforgettable lead singer of Grammy-nominated Swedish extreme-metal band Meshuggah. Even while balancing these many diverse and eclectic musical influences, McCreary always refers to Tolkien’s writings for inspiration. “I am honored to continue forward on this journey, bringing the events of Tolkien’s Second Age to life on the screen,” says McCreary.
Series stars Sophia Nomvete, Benjamin Walker, Rory Kinnear, and Daniel Weyman also lend their vocal talents to several songs on the soundtrack. Nomvete’s dwarven character of Princess Disa is a lead resonator who sings to the mountain, while Walker, who plays an Elven king, sings a sorrowful tune in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Elvish language. Kinnear, who joins the show this season as the first live-action version of fan-favorite character Tom Bombadil, and Weyman, who portrays the mysterious Stranger, also collaborate on a reprise of “Old Tom Bombadil.”
“This new soundtrack is a stunning companion to the series’ continued exploration of the Second Age” said Bob Bowen, worldwide head of music for Amazon MGM Studios. “With the debut of Season Two on the horizon, we’re excited to give fans a further glimpse into the epic series.”
Season Two of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will debut on Prime Video on August 29, 2024, in more than 240 countries and territories around the world, and in multiple languages.
In Season Two of The Rings of Power, Sauron has returned. Cast out by Galadriel, without an army or ally, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will. Building on Season One’s epic scope and ambition, the new season plunges even its most beloved and vulnerable characters into a rising tide of darkness, challenging each to find their place in a world that is increasingly on the brink of calamity. Elves and dwarves, orcs and men, wizards and Harfoots… as friendships are strained and kingdoms begin to fracture, the forces of good will struggle ever more valiantly to hold on to what matters to them most of all… each other.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness.
The first season of The Rings of Power has been an unprecedented success, viewed by more than 100 million people worldwide, with more than 32 billion minutes streamed. The highly anticipated series attracted more than 25 million global viewers on its first day, marking the biggest premiere in the history of Prime Video, and also debuted as the No. 1 show on Nielsen’s overall streaming chart in its opening weekend. The show has driven more Prime sign-ups worldwide during its launch window than any other previous content to date. The season finale also created a global cultural moment, with multiple series-themed hashtags, including #TheRingsofPower and others, trending in 27 countries across Twitter for over 426 cumulative hours throughout the weekend.
The second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is produced by showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay. They are joined by executive producers Lindsey Weber, Callum Greene, Justin Doble, Jason Cahill, and Gennifer Hutchison, along with co-executive producer and director Charlotte Brändström, producers Kate Hazell and Helen Shang, and co-producers Clare Buxton, Andrew Lee, Glenise Mullins, and Matthew Penry-Davey. The details of the latest discoveries notified since last press release in this regard on 20th May 2024 are as under.
PURN-1: The exploratory well PURN-1 (CB-ONO-PU-A) was drilled in OALP block CB-ONHP-2019/1 to explore HC potential of Olpad & Kadi. During testing, well flowed viscous oil after heat treatment thru hot water. The success in the well PURN-1 in Olpad Formation has established hydrocarbon presence in the prospect and opened up new area for exploration in and around OALP block CB-ONHP-2019/1.
- West Matar-2: The exploratory well West Matar-2 (MRAX) was drilled in Matar Addl. (7 year PML) area to explore HC potential of Middle Eocene Play (Hazad Member). Two objects were tested in Sand-6 and sand-8 of Gandhar. While Gandhar Sand 6 flowed oil @83m3/day and gas @ 10500m3/day, Gandhar-8 gave Oil @87.89 m3/day and gas @ 10,644m3/d. This success has established commercial oil & gas for the first time in GS-6 and GS-8 sands in West Matar field and declared as new pool discovery. This discovery has opened up areas for further exploration.
III. Chandramani (B-56-B): The well B-56-2 (B-56-B) was drilled in C-Series PML in Tapti-Daman area of Mumbai Offshore with the objective to explore hydrocarbon potential of Panna and Bassein Formation. One object, tested in Diu Formation flowed Gas @ 2,09,746 m3/day. The encouraging testing results has established presence of commercial hydrocarbons in the Diu Formation for the first time in Mumbai Offshore. This Hydrocarbon success has opened up a new play for further exploration.
