Inaugural Filmmaker’s Round Table Unveils Wealth of Opportunities for Cinematic Production in Vibrant Gujarat

For over seven decades, Filmfare has been chronicling remarkable accomplishments and milestones of the Indian Film Industry. The Platform continues to lead the way in honouring cinematic and artistic brilliance. For the 69th edition of the Filmfare Awards, which is scheduled to be held on January 2024, Filmfare takes the celebrations to the Vibrant State of Gujarat. The inaugural Filmmakers’ Round Table took place at the Taj Lands End in Mumbai on October 11th where the event served as a significant precursor to the prestigious Filmfare awards. Spearheaded by Mr. Vineet Jain, the Managing Director of The Times Group, Filmfare played a pivotal role in fostering the growth of the Indian film industry. It achieved this by convening a distinguished panel of attendees.

“The Southern States Are Showing the Way”: Gurcharan Das
Chennai, 12th October 2023: “A lot of people, like me, are in the middle of the political spectrum; and I am a liberal”, said, noted public intellectual, author, and commentator, Gurcharan Das, sharing his thoughts on the Southern Rising Summit at ABP Network’s “The Southern Rising” Summit. “Being a liberal, you are on a lonely road, as there’s no one to vote for.”
Speaking on the session, “In Search of Freedom: The Personal and Political,” Gurcharan Das elaborated upon the history of India in his lifetime. “The big change is that we were economically challenged for the first 40 years,” he remarked. “The nation was shackled for a period of 40 years, and as the world witnessed Japan’s rise, it was imperative that decisive action be taken at that time”
On education system, Gurcharan Das said today “Even today 80% of Indians do not have access to quality education. Only 20 percent of people have access to quality education. They can make a Silicon Valley city like Bengaluru and revolutionize the IT industry.”
“Education is not about rote learning, it’s about questioning. My advice to youths will be to live and examine life,” the author said.
When discussing the growth of southern states, he observed that “Tamil Nadu possesses a magic, with a well-established governance system. Its per capita income has witnessed a remarkable doubling. Overall, in terms of growth, the southern states are showing the way.”

Chola Expands CSR Program – Truckers Eye Health Project (Raahi)
Chennai, 12.10.2023 – Cholamandalam Investment & Finance Company Limited (Chola), the financial services arm of Murugappa Group, is delighted to announce the expansion of its Raahi National Truckers Eye Health Programme, now entering phase eight. In this phase, Chola is set to establish two new vision centres while continuing to support the 36 locations in 16 states initiated in the previous year.
The Raahi National Truckers Eye Health Programme is a remarkable Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by Chola aimed at promoting and providing essential health benefits to truck drivers and their families. The program’s primary objectives are to screen 1 lakh plus truck drivers and organize outreach camps in proximity to industrial areas, fleets, and transport depots.
Chola’s commitment to enhancing the health and well-being of the trucking community has been unwavering, and the new phase of the program will focus on eye health. Services to be offered include screening, spectacle dispensing, referral, refraction, and raising awareness about the significance of maintaining good eye health among truck drivers and their families.

As part of this program, Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) Screening will also be conducted to detect and identify ocular conditions at an early stage. Fundus cameras, offering crucial eye screening services, will be installed in two mobile vans stationed in Durg, Chhattisgarh, and Delhi.
Each truck driver participating in this program will receive a personalized referral card, facilitating a systematic approach to referrals, tracking, and follow-up for any identified beneficiary. This card can be presented at a nearby hospital for necessary cataract surgery.
Furthermore, the program will also address the critical health issue of Tuberculosis (TB) among truck drivers by organizing targeted awareness sessions. These sessions will educate truck drivers about TB, its symptoms, transmission, prevention, and available healthcare services to ensure early detection and timely treatment.

IEEMA organises Connect North East
October 11, 2023, Guwahati: The Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA), the apex association of the Indian electrical equipment manufacturing industry today organized “Connect North East” to foster collaboration and drive innovation for the Electrical Industry in the North East.
IEEMA organized this exclusive Buyer-Seller Meet on 10th October 23 in Guwahati. This pioneering event registered 250+ buyer-seller meetings from industry players and stakeholders from across the North East. Buyers from utilities and non-utilities like oil refineries, irrigation, PWD, smart city, railways, urban infrastructure, EPCs, etc. The event will be a catalyst for transformative partnerships and strategic alliances within the sector.
To tap the unexplored opportunities in East & North East India, senior officials were invited from noteworthy sectors like Utilities, Railways, Defence, Oil and Gas, PWD Depts, Agriculture Dept, Smart City Authority, and other organizations from the entire North East India.
Mr. Devesh Goel, Chairman of Eastern Region, IEEMA inaugurated the event and welcomed this initiative of IEEMA. Mr. Goel remarked that IEEMA is a prominent facilitator of industry networking, “The Buyer-Seller Meet aims to create a dynamic platform where key players from the Electrical Industry, Utilities, and Non-Utilities can engage in meaningful dialogues, explore synergies, and forge mutually beneficial relationships”.

Focus On North East
IEEMA has been working on several initiatives focused on promoting the electricity and electronics industry in the North East. Connect North East, E3 – Energize Empower East and Bengal Power Conclave are some of the marquee initiatives that have been initiated to help leverage opportunities for the industry and promote growth of the sector in the North East. IEEMA is also launching the 4th edition of E3 – Energize Empower East on 7th – 9th February 2024 to build engagement of the industry and stakeholders to drive development in North East.
