M4 Engineering Inc. Acquires Phoenix Technology Works a New Prototyping Powerhouse is Created

Long Beach, CA, June 15, 2024 –M4 Engineering Inc., a leading Engineering, Test, and Prototyping firm in the field of conceptual design, analysis and product development has acquired Phoenix Technology Works (PTW) Maricopa, AZ to increase its footprint in full vehicle prototyping and tooling for composite applications.

The purpose of this acquisition is to create a new prototyping powerhouse by combining M4’s agile engineering, test, and fabrication skills with PTW’s extensive experience in complex, large scale composite parts and tooling. This will provide clients with access to a one-stop conceptual design, analysis, prototyping, and test solution that will help accelerate innovation and reduce time to functional prototypes.

The goals of this acquisition are:

New eDNA Invoicing Platform from xSuite

Ahrensburg, Germany, June 14, 2024 – The upcoming e-invoicing obligation for B2B in Germany is reflected in the xSuite product portfolio: xSuite eDNA (electronic Document Network Adapter) is the software manufacturer’s new invoice platform that can handle a wide variety of e-invoice formats. Acting as a “single point of connection,” the solution converts received documents into a standardized format for easy downstream processing. This makes it a reliable gateway for connecting with e-invoicing landscapes across national borders. In the next version of the software, eDNA will also be able to create electronic invoices for dispatch.

Machine-readable XML data records, the invoice format of the future, will replace paper and PDF invoices over the medium term. However, each country has its own laws, portals, networks and, in some cases, different invoice formats. xSuite eDNA, the cloud-based exchange and conversion platform for e-invoices, therefore accepts incoming (and soon also outgoing) invoice data records, converts them into the desired XML format and transfers them via various networks, e.g. Peppol.

The solution turns the heterogeneous inbound documents into a standardized format and applies the invoice data to the appropriate fields in the ERP system, both at the header and field level. The data is then reconciled with ERP master data in the downstream invoice processing solution, which enables automated creditor recognition. Validation is not required as the adapter takes care of this autonomously. Companies already using an xSuite workflow for paper, PDF or other invoice formats will be able to use it also to process the e-invoice.

The new solution connects companies with a wide range of e-invoicing channels, thus creating a gateway to e-invoicing landscapes of foreign countries. As regards invoices originating from networks, the compliance requirements have already been ensured by the sender. For selected formats received by email (ZUGFeRD, XRechnung and BIS Billing 3.0 from the end of 2024), conformity is checked with xSuite eDNA.

xSuite eDNA is connected to internal ERP systems via interfaces. When operated fully over the cloud, this reduces the burden on IT by minimizing the effort for hardware and software. xSuite eDNA supports SAP S/4HANA and SAP ERP systems, as well as any other ERP system, via REST API or xSuite interface (on-premises or private cloud).

Reactis for Simulink API on Linux®

The Reactis for Simulink API is now available on Linux. Currently, only Ubuntu® Linux 22.04 LTS is supported (other Ubuntu versions or Linux distributions may work but have not yet been tested). While the Reactis GUI is not included in this initial release, using the Reactis API on Linux can be very beneficial for automated testing. A Dockerfile is also available to facilitate adding the Reactis for Simulink API to a Docker container in which MATLAB® is already installed.

ISMG’s Cybersecurity Summit Midwest Explores AI Strategies to Fortify Defenses

The rise in ransomware attacks and data breaches and the shifting regulatory landscape have created a challenging environment for businesses. The summit’s agenda is meticulously crafted to offer discussions on the most trending topics in the industry, which includes using artificial intelligence to combat threats, leveraging cyber insurance for enhanced security and implementing advanced supply chain security strategies.

Bill Foster, Illinois Congressman and member of the Congressional AI Taskforce, will open the summit with his keynote on the regulatory future of AI. With 45% of companies exploring AI adoption and more than 20% aggressively pursuing AI integration, according to CompTIA’s IT Industry Outlook 2024, enterprises and security leaders will likely need guidance and support from regulatory bodies to navigate adoption and compliance challenges.

Congressman Foster will spotlight the initiatives established by the taskforce to help business and security leadership in AI adoption and innovation as well as ensure compliance with regulatory standards. He will share forward-looking recommendations and discuss bipartisan policy proposals prepared with inputs from key jurisdiction committees.

Bradley Schaufenbuel, CISO, Paychex and CyberEdBoard member; Peter Tapling, board member, U.S. Faster Payments Council; Rich Campagna, senior vice president, product management, NextGen Firewall, Palo Alto Networks; David Kendzior, global data and artificial intelligence security leader for Accenture, will shed light on how leaders can implement AI-based solutions to buttress their cyber defense strategies.

As threat actors continue to use AI in cyberattacks, there has been a significant increase in the number of deepfake videos online, with the Department of Homeland Security reporting 95,820 deepfake videos in 2023. In an interactive tabletop session that will simulate a cyberattack scenario, Tim Gallo, head of global solutions architects, Google, and Brian Cockrill from the U.S. Secret Service will explore strategies and tactics security practitioners must implement to safeguard against deepfake attacks.

The summit will also feature a session on the strategies to address the cybersecurity skills shortage. The panelists – Shefali Mookencherry, CISO, chief privacy officer, University of Illinois Chicago and CyberEdBoard member; Todd Covert, CISO, national general, Allstate; Kenneth Townsend, CISO, Ingredion and CyberEdBoard member – will share best practices for attracting top-tier cybersecurity talent, designing comprehensive training and development programs, and implementing effective strategies to retain high-performing professionals.

The growing frequency and intensity of cyberattacks have made investments in cyber insurance necessary for enterprises. Swiss Re Institute’s report forecasts that cyber insurance premiums will reach USD 23 billion by 2025. Keith Bergin, vice president, corporate claims at Tokio Marine HCC, and Brent Deterding, CISO at Afni, Inc. and CyberEdBoard member, will share insights on using cyber insurance as a strategic asset. In this session, attendees will learn strategies to optimize their cyber insurance coverage.
