Dulcet Tile Raises the Standard in Quality Control

Dulcet Tile Raises the Standard in Quality Control

Dallas, TX, May 29, 2024 — Dulcet Tile, Inc., a Los Angeles-based manufacturer and distributor of natural stone mosaic tile, has raised the standard in quality control in their manufacturing process. Because natural stone is so mesmerizing and wonderfully beautiful, the challenge for Dulcet Tile is to produce stunning designs and a luxury product through direct oversight of the entire manufacturing process; whereas other mosaic manufacturers are looking to streamline the process. At a recent Atlanta 2024 Coverings show, participants identified Dulcet Tile as a manufacturer of the best marble mosaic tiles in the US.

According to Chris Chen, Vice President of Dulcet Tile, “Natural stones like Calacatta or Carrara marble presents a unique challenge. The degree of veining or the variety of color tones is factored into the finished mosaic design as color inconsistency frequently occurs. Color inconsistency means that more of the one color is prominent in sections of the stone while in other sections, other colors maybe more prominent. This results in darker or lighter sections across the stone which is appealing for countertops, but not for tile. When Dulcet Tile creates a mosaic tile, having consistent color tone is essential, otherwise the look appears imbalanced or lacks conformity. Some stones that are heavy in the wrong color can produce a lot of waste.”

Dulcet Tile uses agents to select blocks of stone that meet specific color standards. Other manufacturers limit their choices of stone to bland, less color variation species; whereas Dulcet Tile can select from a boarder range of stones that are higher in demand.

Once the blocks are cut into slabs, each slab is evaluated for any deviation of color and is graded from A to B to C. If the overall color does not adhere to Dulcet tile’s specifications or if the color is inconsistent or unbalanced, the slab is pulled from the lot.

As important as color consistency is to mosaic tiles, so is a stone’s thickness. “It is vital that every stone used in creating mosaic tile possess the same thickness, otherwise the end product is uneven and difficult to install,” states Chen. “Unlike porcelain or ceramic tile that are machine made, Dulcet Tile has to ensure that each hand-cut tile has the same thickness. Cohesive thickness is essential to the final mosaic pattern so that it appears as one complete piece.”

When a mosaic tile is created, Dulcet Tile artisans’ hand-place pieces of tile using different species of stone to make a distinct, replicable pattern. As a result, their mosaics have become widely popular throughout the United States. Dulcet Tiles are more decorative than the traditional, dimensional formats. However, the more intricate the pattern, the more precise the cuts, the more likely the risk for chipped or broken edges. Therefore, Dulcet Tile products are more meticulous and require labor-intensive inspections. Inspectors look for blemishes, color imbalance, broken joints and corners, scratches or imperfect finishes.

Chen says, “Because we impose a high premium on quality control, Dulcet Tile has exploded from 25 showrooms in 2019, mainly in California, to over 120 showrooms across the nation and we are on pace to reach 200 by the end of 2024. Our mosaics are designed with elegant, fresh and innovative patterns that are manufactured with machine ingenuity and hand-crafted by artisans.”

Dulcet Tile is a Los Angeles-based manufacturer and distributor of natural stone mosaic tiles and offers the highest in quality control and produces industry leading designs. Dulcet Tile has created a new niche for elegant flooring and soothing wall coverings and brings decades of experience in both contemporary and classic designs. Dulcet Tile collections are designed with timeless elegance, precision and are destined to impress for years to come. Always innovating and ushering new and artistic styles to the market, Dulcet Tile is the leader in elegant marble mosaic tiles.

Author Marlena Sweet’s New Book, Kitten Has a Bad Day A Very Bad Day Indeed

Author Marlena Sweet’s New Book Kitten Has a Bad Day A Very Bad Day Indeed

Portland, OR, May 29, 2024 — Marlena Sweet, a lifelong advocate for animals, has completed her new book, “Kitten Has a Bad Day: A Very Bad Day Indeed!”: a charming tale that follows the adventures of an orange kitten who learns a series of important lessons while experiencing one of the worst days ever.

Born in British Columbia, Canada, in 1948, author Marlena Sweet moved with her family to Oregon, where she currently resides in southeast Portland. The author has always had strong emotional attachments to her pets and is passionate about the physical health of other critters met through unexpected encounters. She shares her home with three cats and a dwarf rabbit and derives joy in feeding the feral cat community in her neighborhood. She has been writing poetry and creative short stories since she was in grade school, and after being diagnosed with Stage 4 melanoma six years ago, began dedicating her time to writing full-time.

“The story shows how a small child (in this case, a kitten) learns to try new things but must always be very careful,” writes Marlena. “It teaches that when they get overtired, they need to lie down for a rest so they don’t get sick. Best of all, it teaches that mommy or daddy will be there to help make everything better when they get overly tired or sick. That will let them know that getting the rest they need is very important if they want to stay healthy and have playdates with their friends. When the dog in the story decides not to chase or bark at the kitten anymore, it teaches your child that sometimes we have to be nice to our playdate friends and siblings, especially when they ask us nicely to stop bothering them. This teaches the child to ignore them and find something else to do, which is where compassion and forgiveness begins. Perhaps the child can color a picture for their sibling or friend, study picture books (like this one), or take a short nap if they’re tired!”

Author Eloy Ortega’s Book Memoirs of A Contractor in A War Zone

Author Eloy Ortega’s Book Memoirs of A Contractor in A War Zone

Cypress, TX, May 29, 2024 –Eloy Ortega has completed his new book, “Memoirs of A Contractor in A War Zone: Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) Theater of Operations”: a gripping work that sheds light on the author’s experience of going to a foreign land and entering a war zone as a civilian and not as a soldier.

Author Eloy Ortega came from the barrio. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on August 2, 1965, he embarked on a fifty-seven-year adventure. His childhood was full of strife, as he grew up homeless and was orphaned by the age of fifteen. Surrounded by poverty, his life turned to juvenile delinquency, and he found himself constantly in trouble with the law—nevertheless, he had big dreams of getting himself out of the barrio. When he was eligible, he joined the army. Fate, however, intervened, and within two-and-a-half years, he left active duty because of the passing of several of his immediate family members.

Within a couple of years, he was able to join the Army Reserve in Corpus Christi, Texas. Two years after that, he moved to Rio Grande City in South Texas where he was a Unit Administrator for the Army Reserves. While in uniform, he deployed to Saudi Arabia’s Operation Desert Storm, serving under LTG William Pagonis for six months. Leaving the Army Reserve, at this time, he met his wife, thereupon changing his life forever. He initially worked in law enforcement in Rio Grande City. Unfortunately, after giving birth to their second daughter, his wife was diagnosed with cancer; thus, the family moved to seek medical attention in Houston, Texas, warranting his resignation as a deputy from the Starr County Sheriff’s Department.

While in Houston, to support his family and his wife’s treatments, he strove to join Kellogg, Brown, and Root (KBR), which was the main civilian support for US troops. This was his opportunity to continue, even as a civilian, to serve. He applied, and on August 3, 2003, he was on his way, via Kuwait, to Iraq’s Operation Iraqi Freedom. His administrative and leadership skills enabled him and his team of operators to develop the best water supply system—in a war zone. This launched him to become the logistics leader in Water and Utilities Operations throughout the war zone. At the end of this period, he met and briefed numerous high-ranking military leaders and congressional visitors, receiving high praise for his overall demeanor, communication skills, and knowledge.

During his service in Iraq, he was wounded by a mortar attack and received the Secretary of Defense for the Defense of Freedom commendation. The wound would lead to future medical and psychological challenges. More serious issues followed, and despite this, he has survived. With determination and belief in oneself, Eloy shows that anything is possible.

Eloy writes, “Departing Kuwait to Iraq, I was issued a bulletproof vest with no plates due to supply shortages. I remember asking for a second bulletproof vest without the steel plates so that I could make myself believe if I got shot the vest would help me. I continue to ask myself what I was doing there if I loved my family with all my heart, and then another thought came in my head. I remembered why I was there, so then I prayed to God to guide the way for me and everybody along with all civilians and military going to Iraq. One significant sign caught my attention; the most little did I know the importance of it will be significant later as the story goes on. We proceeded to load our Chevrolet dually truck with plenty of cases of water and MREs to survive. We were told to take whatever we wanted to take, because if we wouldn’t take it with us, we wouldn’t have it. After going to the market in Kuwait City, we purchased enough snacks, chips, and my favorite soft drink. I got enough Dr. Pepper to last for several months.”
