Freemasons of Telangana’s gesture to a family with 2 Muscular Dystrophy children
Hyderabad, May 20, 2024….Freemasons of Telangana on Sunday in a late-night function presented a cheque of Rs 50,000/-(fifty thousand rupees) to the family of Bokka Padma and Narasimha Reddy, whose two children Bokka Teja Vardhan, 20 years old and Bokka Mani Vardhan, 17 years of Yamnapet Village in Ghatkesar have been suffering from incurable Muscular Dystrophy for many years.
Further, the Assistant Regional Grandmasters of Freemasons in Telangana Proddaturu Veerabhadrudu, Dr. Srirang Abkari, Anil Desai, and Ramesh Manchala, who graced the Mother’s Day Celebrations assured the family of the continuous monthly financial as well as material (groceries as per the need) support as long as the children live.
Freemasons is a global organisation. It is a morale-building organisation. It makes good men better, said Proddaturu Veerabhadrudu.
Last week, we visited the family at Yamnapet Village, studied their situation, assessed their need and appealed to Freemasons, their families, friends, relatives, business associates, philanthropic individuals, and good samaritans and through their contributions, the money was raised. A cheque was presented to Mrs Bokka Padma, the woman who has been nurturing two sons along with her husband Mr Narsimha Reddy for the past many years. Mrs Padma was also honoured for her determination to raise the children just by doing some errand jobs with both her sons suffering from such an incurable disease. She is an incredible mother, informed D. Ramchandram, a Freemason, who also emceed the function.
Both the boys have been suffering from muscular dystrophy, a rare genetic disease that weakens muscle function. Because of this, they lost the ability to walk, sit right, and stand up. They are just bedridden. Neither there is a treatment nor a cure. They need 24-hour assistance.
Padma’s husband, Mr Narasimha Reddy, a driver, lost his job. He stays at home to take care of the kids.
Padma goes to work and earns Rs 8000/- which is insufficient for the family to take care of the children and run home. Though they get an Asara pension, that is said to be not sufficient.
Padma wants to keep her both children happy as long as they live. So, Freemasons of Telangana came forward and handed over a cheque at a function held at Goshamahal Baradari Masonic Building at Goshamahal during Mother’s Day celebrations.
Along with Padma, three other incredible women who were behind their children’s success were too honoured. Among them was Dr Satya Bhama, mother of well-known cricketer VVS Lakshman. The two other incredible mothers who were also honoured were Mrs. Vimya Dhurvesh Aheer and Mrs. Boyapati Subhashini. Freemasons of Telangana also honoured the mothers of their members. Some members shared their bonding with their mothers, memories, inspiring lessons learnt and the mothers’ sacrifices, informed Gannarapu Ashok, another Freemason member.
Mothers Day was celebrated across South India in over 126 cities in response to the call given by its Regional Grand Master TN Manoharan. This was the first time Freemasons organised Mother’s Day. Freemasons have been celebrating only Universal Brotherhood Day so far.
Mother is a unique person in all our lives. So is Freemasonry, a very unique organisation. Mother nurtures her children to be better human beings. So is Freemasonry. It makes good men better the role of a mother is to Love unconditionally; care both physically and emotionally, correct discipline and train, encourage and teach, and connect to learn and grow them. Same is the case with Freemasonry. Freemasonry teaches. Freemasonry Teaches Kindness in the home, Love for one another, Courtesy in society, Resistance towards evil, Help for the weak, Pity and concern for the unfortunate, Forgiveness for the penitent, Fairness in work, Honesty in business, and above all, Reverence and Love for God. Freemasonry is a Way of Life. It teaches values and makes good men better. Lodge (the club) is like school, college, teaches something useful to mankind, said D. Ramchandram in his opening remarks.
Freemasons also gave away prizes to the winners of the Essay Writing and Painting Competitions they organised on the theme ‘Motherhood’ to celebrate and mark Mother’s Day.
Over 100 members, their families, and guests participated in the celebrations.

The Future of Urban Living – The Sustainable Communities of Tomorrow

I travel a lot to understand how different countries address their urban sprawl because we use such insights to design integrated townships here in India. In fact, one result of these travels was our partnering with a globally acclaimed architect who helped us recreate a global residential experience in India.
However, my main takeaway from this globetrotting has been far less positive – the alarming rate at which rampant urbanization is challenging even the most glamorous world cities.
As cities’ populations overflow, traditional urban infrastructure groans and often crumbles under the strain of housing demands. Did you think that overcrowding and declining living standards are the order of the day only in India? Far from it – it is a global phenomenon.
The Global Scenario
In the thronged streets of New York, Tokyo, and Hong Kong – and even in Berlin, Hamburg, and Stockholm – urban sprawl running wild is in evidence everywhere. In India, we have accepted congestion, pollution, and stressed infrastructure, but be aware that very few countries are exempt from them anymore.
Across the world from Asia to Europe to North America, local governments and expert city planners are implementing the only viable solution. You guessed it – integrated townships.
In Singapore and the United Arab Emirates, self-sufficient, self-contained integrated projects have in fact been at the forefront of urban planning for many decades. Singapore, in particular, is famous for master-planned communities such as Punggol and Tampines, which integrate residential, commercial, and recreational facilities to create vibrant and self-sustaining neighborhoods.
In the UAE, integrated developments like Dubai Marina and Masdar City deliver comprehensive living and working environments for residents. In Europe, Sweden and the Netherlands have embraced the concept of integrated townships to promote sustainable urban development.
Stockholm and Amsterdam have pioneered eco-friendly neighbourhoods that prioritize walking, cycling, and public transportation while incorporating green spaces and mixed-use developments.
In North America, integrated townships have gained traction in response to urban sprawl and the growing trend for more walkable and inclusive communities. Vancouver in Canada and Portland in the United States have implemented policies to encourage mixed-use development and compact urban forms.
This approach has given rise to highly integrated neighborhoods that provide everything their residents will ever need – living spaces, offices to work in, as well as shopping malls and recreational amenities.
Integrated Living – No Alternatives
If this sounds like a marketing prospectus for a modern integrated township in India, it’s because while we certainly haven’t pioneered the concept, we have certainly caught on to it big time. And for good reasons.
A report by international property consultants JLL India entitled ‘Livability quotient – a paradigm shift in India’s emerging cities’ puts it very aptly – “A balanced lifestyle contributes highly to the livability quotient of a city or township,” it states. “Amenities for leisure and recreation such as sports facilities, gymnasiums, clubhouses, malls and shopping streets are considered lifestyle amenities and are much appreciated by users.”
“Townships managed by private developers have an advantage over cities managed by local governments. The high level of interaction that happens between a township developer and customers naturally enables a focused delivery of services.”
I guess there’s no better way of putting it. As our larger cities draw more and more inward migration because of their employment prospects, we certainly need better solutions to house everyone. India’s growing upper-level middle class expects to find housing that multi-tasks and delivers on their lifestyle preferences.
What better solution for this than integrated mixed-use developments where they can seamlessly transition between living, working, and leisure activities without enduring long commutes?
As the successful eco-cities of Scandinavia and the master-planned communities of Singapore and the UAE demonstrate, integrated townships are a concept whose time has come – and is, in fact, by now an imperative in India.
A Long Way to Go
As Anarock Property Consultants put it, the growing demand for integrated townships in India has risen even more in the wake of changing housing preferences post-pandemic. However, despite the increased interest, integrated townships still represent only a fraction of the total housing supply in India. Since 2010, only about 2% of all housing projects in the top seven cities fell in this category,
Clearly, we are missing something important here.
India is a nation at a crossroads in its urbanization journey. Rapid population growth, rural-urban migration, and fragmented urban planning have spawned a host of challenges, from sprawling urban sprawl to choked traffic arteries and polluted air. The need for holistic urban planning has never been more pressing.
Integrated townships offer hope amidst this urban chaos. With the government’s ambitious plans to create smart cities and revitalize urban infrastructure in a country where land scarcity, fragmented development, and outdated infrastructure are the norm, there is quite simply no other solution.
Without integrated townships, the status quo in India is frankly unsustainable. With every passing year, our trajectory of urbanization is spiraling further out of control – with far-reaching consequences on our society, our environment, and our economy.
Beyond just bricks and mortar, integrated townships also serve as catalysts for economic growth and building strong, wholesome and supportive communities. They provide local employment opportunities, reduce dependence on city centers, offer higher returns on investment, and provide a holistic solution to the many challenges we face in our cities.

Citizens Specialty Hospital Hosts India’s First CME on E-CPR in ED, Sets New Milestone in Emergency Medicine
Hyderabad, 20th May 2024: Citizens Specialty Hospital marked a significant milestone by hosting the country’s first Continuing Medical Education (CME) session on CODE E-CPR in the Emergency Department (ED) at its Hyderabad facility. The event witnessed the participation of 60 delegates and 20 faculties, comprising esteemed medical professionals and experts in the field.
CODE E-CPR, an abbreviation for Extracorporeal Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, is a groundbreaking salvage procedure that involves the emergent initiation of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) on patients who have experienced cardiac arrest, particularly when conventional cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CCPR) has proven ineffective.

Sellwin Traders Ltd to Make Strategic Investment in Patel Container India Pvt Ltd
Bengaluru,20 May 2024: Board of Director of Ahmedabad based Sellwin Traders Ltd has approved the proposal to make strategic investment in Patel Container India Pvt Ltd. Company will acquire 36% stake in Patel Container which is extendible up to 51% over the next two years. Investment by Sellwin Traders will be utilized to support the establishment of a new manufacturing facility for logistic containers in Bhavnagar District, Gujarat.
Patel Container signed an MOU in Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024 to invest Rs. 45 crore for manufacturing facility in Bhavnagar to establish a facility for logistic containers in Bhavnagar District, Gujarat. The project is estimated to generate employment for 100 people and expect commencement in the year 2025. Bhavnagar offers strategic advantages for the unit, including proximity to major ports and trade routes, which will optimize logistics and distribution.
During FY24, company has turn around its business operations and reported 56% growth in total income to Rs. 61.7 crore as compared to Rs. 39.60 crore in FY23.

Company has also announced plans to invest around Rs. 200 million in Shah Metacorp Ltd (BSE & NSE Listed Company) over the next two years to align with company’s long-term growth strategy and aims to capitalize on the promising opportunities in the metal industry. The investment will be utilized to support Shah Metacorp Ltd’s expansion initiatives, enhance production capacities, strengthen research and development capabilities, and explore new market segments. In the company’s board meeting dated 17 May 2024, company has appointed Mr. Vedant Rakesh Panchal as Managing Director and Chairperson of the Company w.e.f. 17.05.2024 subject to the approval of shareholders.
Company has also completed conversion of preferential allotment of 1.2 crore warrants into 1.2 crore Equity Shares of face value Rs. 10 each. Pursuant to conversion, the Issued, Subscribed and Paid-up Equity Share Capital of the Company stands increased to Rs. 20.26 crore consisting of 2,02,60,000 fully paid-up Equity Shares of Rs. 10 each. Company issued the 1.20 crore Equity Shares at a price of Rs. 12.95 per Equity share upon receipt of balance amount at the rate of Rs. 9.7125 per Equity Share.
In April 2024, company entered in to share purchase agreement, to make a strategic investment in Patel & Patel E-Commerce And Services Pvt Ltd. Company agreed to acquire 66.67% of the total paid-up share capital in the form of equity shares of Patel & Patel E-Commerce And Services Pvt Ltd. Patel & Patel E-Commerce And Services Pvt Ltd is currently engaged is in business of Software designing, development, customisation, implementation, maintenance, testing and benchmarking, designing, developing and dealing in computer software and solutions.
