Hyderabad, 5th August, 2023: At Platform 65, a renowned culinary hub in the heart of the city, the air was filled with anticipation and excitement as Chef VH Suresh, the esteemed Corporate Executive Chef, prepared to reveal his latest masterpiece – the “Classic Mushroom.”
Chef VH Suresh, known for his innovative approach to cooking and exquisite taste, took the stage with a confident smile. The audience, comprising food enthusiasts, journalists, and fellow chefs, leaned forward, eager to discover the secrets behind this new culinary delight.
“This dish holds a special place in my heart,” Chef Suresh began, his voice resonating with passion. “The Classic Mushroom represents a harmonious blend of flavors and textures, designed to tantalize your taste buds.”
The chef then proceeded to divulge the key ingredients required to recreate this gastronomic wonder. “To prepare the Classic Mushroom, we start with 180 grams of medium-sized mushrooms,” he explained. “Next, we combine 10 grams of all-purpose flour (maida) and 20 grams of corn flour, which will give the dish a delightful crispiness.”
As Chef Suresh continued, he outlined the importance of balance in the dish. “Every great recipe requires a careful balance of flavors. For the Classic Mushroom, we add just the right amount of salt, sugar, and white pepper to elevate the taste.”
“Of course, a creamy touch is essential to bind the flavors together,” he added, a glint of excitement in his eyes. “We incorporate 100 ml of cream, which infuses a luxurious creaminess that complements the earthy mushroom flavors.”
With the ingredients list covered, Chef Suresh moved on to the cooking process, sharing his step-by-step guide to perfection. “First, we boil the mushrooms to bring out their natural essence,” he said. “Then, in a mixing bowl, we coat the boiled mushrooms with the maida, corn flour, sugar, salt, and white pepper, ensuring each piece is evenly seasoned.”
“The magic truly happens when we deep fry the coated mushrooms,” he continued, a grin forming on his face. “The sizzling sound and the aroma that fills the kitchen are irresistible.”
But Chef Suresh didn’t stop there. He revealed his secret to making the dish extraordinary. “Once the mushrooms turn a beautiful golden brown, we take them out of the pan. In the same pan, we sauté chopped ginger, garlic, and onions to create a delightful base for the mushrooms.”
As the audience listened intently, Chef Suresh reached the climax of the recipe. “We then add back the fried mushrooms, season them with a pinch of salt, sugar, and white pepper, ensuring every bite is an explosion of flavors,” he said, his excitement palpable.
“The final touch, the cream, is drizzled over the mushrooms, crowning them with richness,” he concluded. “Garnished with fried cashews and spring onions, the Classic Mushroom is now ready to be served, piping hot and full of culinary delights.”
The audience erupted into applause as Chef VH Suresh unveiled the Classic Mushroom, showcasing his passion for culinary artistry and his dedication to creating unforgettable dining experiences.

Mastercard Enables CVC-less Payments for Tokenized Cards in India
5th August 2023: Mastercard today announced the introduction of Cardholder Verification Code (CVC)-less online transactions for its debit and credit cardholders who have tokenized their cards on merchant platforms. The move aims to reduce the checkout time and make virtual transactions hassle-free and more secure.
CVC is the three-digit number printed on the back of debit and credit cards. According to the Reserve Bank of India’s tokenization guidelines, merchants who adopt tokenized payments will collect CVC only once, which is while tokenizing the card. From the second transaction onwards, cardholders will be required to select their tokenized card from the checkout page, confirm the one-time password (OTP) and complete the transaction without keying in CVC.
Several e-commerce players like Cashfree Payments and Zomato have already adopted CVC-less payments. By eliminating the need for CVC, merchants can expect benefits like higher authorization rates, reduced checkout abandonment, and enhanced customer payment experience.
“We are excited to introduce CVC-free payments, which reduce friction for cardholders, aligning their payment experience with other popular modes like UPI Intent. At Cashfree Payments, our vision is to consistently innovate and create solutions that make digital payments faster, safer, and more convenient,” said Akash Sinha, CEO and Co-Founder, Cashfree Payments.
“CVC-less payments have indeed enabled quicker completion of transactions and enhanced convenience for our customers, without compromising on the security of payments,” said Akshant Goyal, CFO, Zomato.
Mastercard’s token-based transactions leverage three key factors that ensure a high degree of safety and security. These include:
Enhanced Security Features: Token-based transactions are inherently more secure as they involve a token expiry and a dynamic cryptogram, ensuring additional protection against fraud.
Authenticated User Identity Check: Payments made using an OTP or Additional Factor Authentication (AFA) ensure that only authorized users can complete the transactions.
Domain Control: Transactions based on tokens are domain-controlled as only the token requestor can seek a cryptogram, ensuring a secure and controlled transaction environment.
“Mastercard is committed to delivering innovative and secure payment solutions that protect both merchants and consumers. Besides enhanced data security, CVC-less payments on tokenized cards come with benefits that make the online domestic card payment experience smoother and safer,” said Anubhav Gupta, Senior Vice President, South Asia, Mastercard.
It’s noteworthy that the issuing bank performs account identification and verification during token provisioning, adding an extra level of safety to the transaction process. With the launch of CVC-less payments, Mastercard has reiterated its commitment to providing a safe and seamless payment experience for Indian merchants and cardholders.

Dr. Mary J. Gallant Recognized as a Woman of Distinction for Fall 2023 by P.O.W.E.R.

Glassboro, NJ, August 04, 2023 –Dr. Mary J. Gallant of Glassboro, New Jersey, has been recognized as a Woman of Distinction for fall 2023 by P.O.W.E.R. (Professional Organization of Women of Excellence Recognized). Each quarter, the publication chooses four women for its distinction award. These four noteworthy women deserve recognition for their exceptional accomplishments. They go the extra mile to achieve results and create a significant impact in their chosen profession.
About Dr. Mary J. Gallant
Dr. Mary J. Gallant is an associate professor of Sociology at Rowan University. She teaches classical social theory in the core of the sociology major. From 2007-2012, she served as chair of Sociology and continued as chair of the combined department of Sociology and Anthropology from 2013-2015.
One of Dr. Gallant’s greatest concerns is the growth of conflict and violence worldwide. She is a Holocaust scholar and teacher with an awareness of the Holocaust as a turning point in the lives of millions of European Jews. Her latest efforts in post-Holocaust research focus on the new anti-Semitism and what surviving genocide means globally for individuals and their families caught up in chaos.
Mary Gallant’s career began at a small liberal arts and sciences graduate school where she taught and developed grant proposals to support her own research and fund assistantships for graduate students. One of these research grants involved a community ethnography and in-depth interviews with Holocaust survivors who were still silent about their traumatic memories. In the interviews, they shared their experience of cruelty, hatred, and indifference, opening a window into the soul that inspires both grief and wonder. What they said left an imprint that is still sharp and clear in her memory.
Unfortunately, the Holocaust project was cut short by factors beyond her control, but Dr. Gallant remained determined. In part it was the urgency these survivors felt to have others carry their memory forward that moved her in 1994 to present a paper at the World Conference of Holocaust Scholars and Survivors, called Errinerung und die Zukunft II in Berlin, GDR. Her paper was titled, “Children and Adolescents in the Holocaust: Effects of Trauma” and it carried their words to all who were assembled. Thousands of people from all over the world attended that colloquium — survivors of the Holocaust, scholars and professionals from many walks of life. The colloquium went on from Germany to London and then Oxford.
Dr. Gallant’s second presentation was on rescue during the Holocaust. The watershed from that world conference alone had an exceptional effect on her presentations and publications for many years thereafter. In 2000, after the conference, Remembering for the Future (RFTF) at the University of South Florida, Palgrave published a three volume work edited by John K. Roth and Elisabeth Maxwell under the title, “Remembering for the Future; The Holocaust in an Age of Genocide” in which Dr. Gallant has a book chapter, “Social Dimensions of Rescue in the Holocaust,” Volume 2:254-270. More recently, Mary contributed another book chapter, “The Kindertransport: Gender and the Rescue of Jewish Children 1938-39,” in a volume out of the University of Washington Press edited by Myrna Goldenberg and Amy H. Shapiro titled, “Different Horrors, Same Hell; Gender and the Holocaust” (2013).
Some highlights of Dr. Gallant’s published work include her first book, “Coming of Age in the Holocaust: The Last Survivors Remember” (ISBN-7618-2403-0) in 2002. She is currently preparing a new edition of this work. It compared aspects of the survival process as emerging from the caring and ingenuity of survivors themselves while under captivity and abuse. Since effective teaching and earnest engagement of students is a life goal for her, she mainly prepared this book for her course, Sociology of the Holocaust. At the time, this course was proposed as new curriculum by Rowan University for students in the general B.A. program and the coordinate major in the then Education Department. Dr. Gallant’s recent work is presently underway reflecting on the Holocaust and Allied forces in WWII. It is expected to contribute to a socio-historical volume on military ethics and education.
An additional element of Dr. Gallant’s research is in the area of social network analysis. This research emphasis emerged out of her dissertation on medical school socialization. In 2013, she published a second book, “Friendship Networks in Medical School: A Network Analytic Approach to the Study of Social Solidarity” at the invitation of a German publisher specializing in dissertation research and interested in teamwork in different kinds of social networks. Work is now being prepared which focuses on the role of informal social support and medical student success.
Mary obtained a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Minnesota in December 1985. She is affiliated with the American Sociological Association and the Eastern Sociological Society. She has been showcased on the famous Reuters Billboard in Times Square in New York City and was featured on P.O.W.E.R. Radio with a podcast. She was also featured in the spring 2022 issue of P.O.W.E.R. Magazine as a Woman of Distinction.
In her spare time Mary enjoys nature walks, choral music, National Public Radio, J.S. Bach, and (backyard) bird-watching.

Rutgers Plays Host to 10th Annual Leadership Academy for Teens with Tourette Syndrome

Somerville, NJ, August 04, 2023 — High school students will learn about advocacy, self-leadership, and resilience from professionals and mentors as NJ Center for Tourette Syndrome and Associated Disorders (NJCTS) conducts their tenth Tim Howard Leadership Academy, August 3 to 6, on the Busch Campus of Rutgers University in Piscataway, NJ.
Created in 2014 in partnership with former professional soccer player, current broadcaster, and Tourette Syndrome (TS) advocate, Tim Howard, the Academy is the only leadership program for teens diagnosed with TS in the nation. The 19 teens participating this year will represent seven states and Canada.
TS is a neurobiological disorder characterized by uncontrollable movements and sounds known as tics. As many as 1 in 50 school-aged children show signs of TS or other tic disorders, which are frequently accompanied by other mental health disorders including ADHD, OCD, and anxiety.
According to a survey conducted by the Tourette Association of America in 2022, 80% of students with TS felt that their tics negatively affected their school experience, 70% had experienced bullying due to their disorder, and 38% worry about being socially isolated.
Over the course of their four days on campus, when the participants are not interacting with doctors, psychologists, and other experts in the field to learn more about their TS, they will have the opportunity to form connections with new friends through small group activities or friendly games of kickball in the quad.
“The goal of the Academy is to have the teens leave with the ability to advocate for themselves and be ready to face an often misinformed public,” explained Academy Director Melissa Fowler. “With the lessons and skills they gain, and the goals they’ll set for themselves, this Academy class will step up to be the voice of awareness in their own communities. It will also give them a network of friends and professionals to help them on their journey.”
NJCTS is a not-for-profit organization committed to the advocacy of individuals and families affected by Tourette Syndrome and its associated disorders. Dedicated to delivering high quality services, the Center recognizes the importance of educating the public, medical professionals, and teachers about this disorder through programs and affiliations with schools, health centers, and the community.
