Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources Organizes Site Visits for Qualified Bidders at Umm Hadid, Bir Umq and Jabal Sahabiyah
Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, 19th of July: The Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources recently organized site visits for international and local qualified bidders in the fourth cycle of the licensing round, to explore the sites and assess their geological potential before submitting their proposals by end of August 2023, which represents the final stage of the licensing round of Umm Hadid, Bir Umq and Jabal Sahabiyah exploration sites.
The Ministry and the Saudi Geological Survey presented geological and technical information about the sites to the bidders to further examine the sites’ mineral potential. The visited sites are the following: Bir Umq in the Madinah Province, covering an area of 187 square kilometers, which contains the mineral potential of copper and zinc; Umm Hadid in the Riyadh Province, spanning 246 square kilometers, featuring potential of silver, lead, zinc and copper; and the Jabal Sahabiyah site in the Aseer Province, covering 283 square kilometers, which holds the potential of zinc, lead, and copper.
The Bidders are required in the current stage to present their technical capabilities, develop their best work program as well as their environmental and social impact management plans that include employment and local purchases from the local communities adjacent to the sites, which will contribute to the growth and development of these regions. They will also demonstrate their ability to develop an innovation plan for the sites.
A Ministry’s Spokesperson noted that the bidding process is merit-based, and it evaluates and assesses each submission based on its technical and social merits, noting that its main aim is to expedite the exploration process to reach the development stage. To do this, each company is required to demonstrate how they will fulfill this objective while ensuring that the local communities are well-engaged and benefiting from the mining operations. He also added that the incentives provided by the Industry and Mineral Recourses ecosystem include extremely competitive – and equal – corporate tax rates for domestic and international companies, a simple, equitable, transparent way to set up 100% foreign-owned companies.
With the site visits and bidding opportunity, the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources confirms its ongoing commitment to advancing the mining sector in Saudi Arabia, increasing its contribution to the gross domestic product, and effectively utilizing mineral resources to strengthen the national economy. Such collaborative efforts reaffirm the Ministry’s evolving plans to support the creation of meaningful employment opportunities for Saudi talent, and further drive sustainable economic growth in the Kingdom.
Finally, the MIM outlined that they are still open to receiving expressions of interest from local and international companies for the fifth cycle of the licensing round of exploration licenses of Al Halahilah and An Nimas sites which are located in Asir region and include Copper and Gold commodities.

Marinade launches first SOL native staking service with zero smart contract risk or fees
TORTOLA, WEDNESDAY, JULY 19, 2023: Marinade Finance, Solana’s leading staking platform and biggest project by total value locked (TVL), is announcing the launch of its first-ever native staking service. Marinade Native will allow users to stake SOL directly with over 130 network validators in one click, non-custodially with no smart contract risk.
Until now, those wishing to stake SOL natively with multiple network validators required multiple transactions, and also constant performance monitoring. Liquid staking enables staking through pools to multiple validators, however, it carries smart contract risk through an on-chain program.
This has made staking unattractive to many institutional investors who could not tolerate either the smart contract risk of liquid staking or the high concentration risk of relying on the performance of one validator. Currently, over 97% of all staked SOL (370 million SOL) is staked natively with individual validators, translating to an $8.1 billion opportunity for Marinade Native.
Marinade Native combines the delegation strategy concept of liquid staking with the non-custodial benefits of native staking, as users will never lose custody of their staked SOL. The average yield for Marinade Native staking is currently 7% APY* with zero management fees.
Moreover, Marinade’s smart delegation strategy, which uses a novel scoring system to select the top 100 validators based not only on yield but performance and decentralization, ensures users’ SOL is spread across a tested pool of validators. This formula determines which validators receive 60% of Marinade’s stake, while MNDE and mSOL token voting account for 20% each.
Cerba, Core Contributor of Marinade Finance, says: “The launch of Marinade Native marks a key milestone in the Marinade 2.0 rollout, which we are excited to deliver. Marinade remains a firm advocate of liquid staking, which offers a host of other benefits to users as well as the Solana ecosystem as a whole. However, we recognize that many institutional investors are balancing important risk considerations with returns, and for the first time they can now benefit from a stake delegation strategy with no smart contract exposure.”
“Our current community of mSOL and MNDE holders will also benefit. Because 20% of the Marinade stake pool is determined by MNDE token voting, the expansion that Marinade Native facilitates will ensure the MNDE token is increasingly appealing to validators. As a bootstrapped, community-first project launched with zero VC funding in 2020, it is important that our community remains involved in all governance decisions and benefits as the protocol grows.”
Other benefits for the Marinade community include:
- Marinade will offer additional MNDE incentives for Marinade Native for 12 months starting in August. This will raise the Marinade Native staking APY higher than the APY of staking directly with any individual validator.
-
These incentives also aim to attract large holders to move their stake from one validator into the Native product to earn both staking rewards and governance power, while also distributing their SOL stake across 100+ high-performing validators.
*Staking APYs change daily according to Solana epoch times and validator performance

PepsiCo releases its 2022 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Summary
India, July 19, 2023: Today, PepsiCo, Inc. (NASDAQ:PEP) published its 2022 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Summary, sharing the first full year of reporting since the launch of PepsiCo Positive (pep+) in 2021.
pep+ is an end-to-end transformation program touching virtually every aspect of PepsiCo’s business – from how ingredients are grown; to how its iconic portfolio of products are made, moved and sold; to what choices are offered to consumers. pep+ is the framework through which all actions on setting and working toward ESG targets are driven.
In 2022, the company reported significant progress on its nutrition, agriculture, social (people and communities), water-use efficiency and safe water access goals. PepsiCo continues working toward driving down climate emissions and the use of virgin plastic.
PepsiCo reported the following results:
- For the second year, 75% of its convenient foods portfolio volume[1] did not exceed 1.1 grams of saturated fat per 100 calories
- PepsiCo initially achieved this goal in 2021, four years ahead of schedule.
- Further reduced added sugars and sodium in its portfolio of products in 2022
- PepsiCo has 56% of its beverage portfolio volume[2] containing less than 100 calories from added sugars per 12-ounce serving, up from 53% in 2021.

- More than doubled its regenerative farming footprint in 2022 to greater than 900,000 acres globally
- PepsiCo has helped farmers become more resilient and has reduced carbon emissions from agriculture by more than 330,000 metric tons – the equivalent of taking more than 73,000 cars off the road for a year.

- PepsiCo has met this goal three years early.
- Improved water-use efficiency by 22% in operations since 2015 in high water-risk areas[4]
- PepsiCo is now approaching its 2025 goal of 25%.
- Provided safe water access to another 12 million people in 2022
- PepsiCo has now provided safe water access to more than 80 million people since 2006.
Commenting on PepsiCo’s approach to engaging farmers and leveraging regenerative agriculture practices to address climate change, National Association of Wheat Growers CEO Chandler Goule said, “PepsiCo is at the forefront, demonstrating how food companies and producers can collaborate effectively to cultivate sustainable, affordable, and safe food. PepsiCo has made meaningful investments in agriculture, and they have led the way in engaging growers from the outset to ensure sustainability objectives are both attainable and mutually beneficial.”
The company acknowledged that it aspires to greater progress for packaging and emissions reductions. PepsiCo is working on plans to help advance its goals in these areas, prioritizing actions which are expected to make the biggest difference.
Commenting on the results, Jim Andrew, Chief Sustainability Officer, said: “Decoupling our business growth from our resource use is always going to be difficult but meeting our long-term targets is critical and we are rapidly learning how and where we need to adjust. We issued $2.25 billion in green bonds since 2019, and we have made – and will continue to make – substantial investments toward key parts of our pep+ agenda, including becoming net zero and reducing the use of virgin plastics. We will also work diligently to remove barriers to progress, many of which are regulatory in nature. The challenges to addressing systemic issues are enormous and it will take a multi-stakeholder approach to get to where we all want to be.”
Additional perspective from Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Ramon Laguarta, and Jim Andrew about the progress toward PepsiCo’s planet and people goals, and the urgency of collective action to address systemic change, is provided in a video message.
PepsiCo is committed to providing transparent reporting and has been recognized by Corporate Secretary’s Corporate Governance Awards for three consecutive years, as “Best ESG Reporting” for a large cap company.
Complementing the 2022 ESG Summary, PepsiCo also published details on its approach and progress for more than 50 topics on the ESG Topics A-Z webpage. This year’s digital summary and all associated downloadable assets are available here.

Plot vs Flat – Which Is Right for You in 2023
by Akash Pharande, Managing Director – Pharande Spaces
Plotted developments have been in the news fairly regularly since the Covid-19 pandemic. It appears that many Indians are now considering this option versus investing in built-up homes. Such preferences are dictated by many factors, including availability, infrastructure development, cultural preferences for low-rise homes, investment preferences, and knowledge – and, of course, the cost factor.
To begin with, we must consider the price of a plot of land suitable and cleared for residential development (technically, non-agricultural or NA land), or a plotted development.
How Much Land to Build a Home? – The amount of land needed to build, say, a small 2 bedroom bungalow may require 600-800 square yards of land, while a spacious 4-5 bedroom luxury bungalow may need 1200-1500 square yards. In prime urban areas, land availability is lower so a decent-sized bungalow can be built on 400-600 square yards while in the suburbs or in smaller towns, 800-1000+ square yards would be considered adequate.
Plot Cost – In Mumbai, a plot of 100-300 square yards in areas like Thane, Navi Mumbai, Vasai-Virar, and Panvel will cost anywhere between Rs. 60,000 – 90,000 per square yard, depending on the exact location and other factors such as nearby infrastructure facilities. In Pune, typical residential plot sizes range from 150 to 400 square yards and carry price tags of anywhere between Rs. 5,000 – 12,000 per square yard, again depending on the location within the city.
And this is just the cost of the land. Next comes the cost of building a home on it.

Construction Costs – Building on a Plot – According to a Anarock Property Consultants 2022 report, the average cost to construct a 2,000 sq ft standalone home in India is Rs 3,000-3,500 per sq ft, totalling an outlay of Rs 60-70 lakh. In contrast, a 2BHK apartment in many major Indian cities averages Rs 80-90 lakh, while 3BHK units average Rs 1-1.1 crores.
In short, there are significant up front savings with built-up apartments versus acquiring and building on a plot of land. However, people who buy plots are also focused on capital appreciation – the most important feature of land investment.
According to a report by PropTiger, also from 2022, land appreciation in the last decade has been very significant. In fact, it was 100-150% in non-metro tier-2 and tier-3 cities when compared to 50-75% in metros. So, apartments are more cost-effective but land value growth can recoup the cost of a plot over the long term.
Plotted Development Benefits
Apart from the potential returns on investment, there are other features to buying a plot and building your own home on it. For instance, you can customize the property as you wish, with your own layout, finishing, design elements, landscaping, and other features that match your lifestyle and tastes.
Built-up property formats like apartments constrain changes and personalization. As architect Rahul Kadri aptly stated, “Personalization gives a character to the space. This is only possible when one builds a home from scratch.”
According to Anarock data, custom homes represented 73% of new residential construction in 2021 – a year that saw several major waves of Covid-19. Vaccines were being rolled out, helping to reduce severe illness and death, but the pandemic’s shockwaves were still being felt and were influencing many kinds of decisions and preferences.
The world was a very different place in 2021. Fast forward to 2023, and now the question is – are self-developed homes still a better option than buying a decent-sized flat in a modern residential township?
Township Living Advantages
No doubt, plotted developments and even bare, undeveloped land became very appealing during and immediately after Covid-19 – but only for those with the right amounts of financial means, patience and investment temperament. For middle-class end-users, something very different became most important during the pandemic – community living.
What most working professionals and nuclear families sought in post-pandemic India included a sense of neighborhood, belonging, plug-and-play lifestyle features, and especially health-focused amenities.
Modern townships, especially those built by leading developers, provide superior amenities and far more conveniences than you can add into a home you have built yourself. After all, township properties do not stand in solitary splendor – they are well-thought-out and immaculately enabled projects.
A modern township offers facilities like swimming pools, gyms, sports courts, walking trails and jogging tracks, children’s play areas and clubhouses by default. Maintenance is covered through association fees versus the individual upkeep costs of a standalone property. Townships and other forms of gated communities also provide far greater security than any standalone home can provide.
Housing Prices Growth
On a final note, since we already examined the capital appreciation of land, let’s also look at how much apartments gained in value. Different real estate consultancies have estimated the average price increase in the leading Indian cities to be anywhere between 5-18% over the past three years.
RBI’s All-India Home Price Index, which references transaction-level data provided by the registration authorities across the top 10 major Indian cities, finds that HPI has gone up by almost 10% in the last three years. It also states that housing prices rose by 4.57% between March 2022 and March 2023, which indicates that prices continue to rise across the metros.
The consistently high sales rate in townships and gated community projects by leading developers indicates that this is more than adequate for most Indians who prefer the convenience of plug-and-play homes over the complexities of acquiring land and developing homes on it.

Ms Padma, the organiser, who has been organizing this Bonalu pooja at least for the last decade says that they have been honoured by the visit of 9th Nizam Raunaq Yar Khan of the Asaf Jahi Nizams(who donated this hospital to the public (at Rs. 1 for Month as a formality). The Present head of Asaf Jahi family personally attending Pooja and blessing us in taking care of our patients is an honour for us, she said. The Nawab came along with Sri. Suman our large-hearted film star who is a regular at our Pooja.
It is not out of the place to mention here that Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) is named after its founder – the 7th Nizam of Hyderabad, thus it becomes special seeing his family members visiting the festival a secular message too, to remind of the past brotherhood of communities.
In 1951, The Nizam not only started the construction of Nizam Orthopedic Hospital (now known as Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS)) and gave it to the government on a 99-year lease for a monthly rent of just Rs.1 which is probably due to some legality which constrained him from offering it as a gift to the public.
NIMS was constituted with the object of creating a centre of excellence in Research, Training and Patient care in Super Specialities. Institute has achieved its objectives and achieved distinction in all spheres during the past five years.
Around the same time, he had also donated 14,000 acres (5,700 ha) of land from his personal estate to Vinobha Bhave’s Bhoodan movement for redistribution among landless farmers.
