University of Nebraska–Lincoln and Runza Restaurants Launch Limited-Edition Runza-Flavored Ice Cream
Nebraska, May 2: In a bold and unconventional culinary collaboration, University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Food Processing Center has partnered with Runza Restaurants to introduce a limited-edition Runza-flavored ice cream, reimagining the iconic sandwich in a surprising frozen format.
The unique creation blends the signature spice profile of the classic Runza sandwich into a sweet cream ice cream base, offering a fusion of sweet and savory flavors. Developed under the leadership of April Johnson, product development project manager at the university’s Food Processing Center, the innovation aims to challenge traditional perceptions of dessert.
“It’s definitely a shock factor at first,” said April Johnson. “You take a bite and think, ‘What is this?’ and then it clicks — it tastes like a Runza sandwich.”
The product was developed following a challenge from Runza Restaurants to translate the essence of its signature sandwich — known for its blend of spices and comforting flavor into ice cream. While inspired by the original, the frozen treat contains no meat, instead incorporating elements like cabbage powder, spice blends, and soft dough inclusions to replicate the sandwich experience.
After multiple iterations and collaborative tastings, the final version was approved by Runza representatives, striking a balance between novelty and familiarity.
“We refined the recipe through continuous feedback until we reached a point where it truly captured the flavor identity,” Johnson added.
The limited-release ice cream debuted on May 1 across select locations in Lincoln and Waverly, following a teaser campaign on social media. The company anticipates strong curiosity-driven demand, though availability may be short-lived.
“We aren’t sure if this will last for four hours or four days,” said Becky L. Perrett, Director of Marketing at Runza Restaurants. “But we’ll be ready and flexible.”
The launch reflects a broader trend of experimental and conversation-starting food innovations, where unique flavor profiles drive consumer engagement.
With its blend of nostalgia, novelty, and bold experimentation, the Runza-flavored ice cream stands out as a creative milestone in food innovation — and a distinctly Nebraskan experience.

Serial entrepreneurs and Digital First Industry Leaders launch Wibe Algo to design revenue systems for the AI era
New Delhi / Mumbai, May 02: As rising customer acquisition costs and AI-led shifts in discovery continue to challenge traditional marketing models, a group of industry veterans has come together to launch Wibe Algo, a company focused on designing unified growth systems for businesses.
Founded by Rajasree Chatterjee, a seasoned brand and growth strategist with over two decades of experience working with leading agencies, where she has led and managed global brands such as ITC, Hershey’s, Dream11, Philips, Tata, and ICICI, among others, and Saptak Banerjee, brings over 12 years of experience in growth strategy and technology-led business building, with expertise across market expansion, product development, and revenue management. He has held roles across organisations such as Dun & Bradstreet, AFS, and SCL, and has worked with brands including HCL Infosystems, Ethio Telecom, Ooredoo Group, and NCR Corporation.
Despite increasing investments in marketing, many businesses continue to struggle to link activity with revenue, as growth remains fragmented across channels, tools, and teams. Wibe Algo’s approach is centred on what it calls growth architecture, a systems-led model that replaces fragmented execution with unified design, integrating strategy, technology, intelligence, and execution into a single framework.
This approach is underpinned by an AI-first intelligence layer designed to decode how modern discovery works across fragmented platforms, enabling businesses to move from guesswork to informed, system-led growth and convert visibility into measurable outcomes.
“We are seeing a clear shift in how growth needs to be approached,” said Rajasree Chatterjee, CEO & Co-Founder, Wibe Algo. “The focus is moving from running campaigns to building systems that are structured, measurable, and directly aligned to revenue. That requires a fundamentally different way of thinking about marketing, technology, and execution.”
Co-founder & Chief Operating Officer, Saptak Banerjee added, “The challenge today is not access to tools or platforms, but the lack of integration. Businesses are optimising parts of the journey, but not the system as a whole. Our focus is on designing growth systems that are scalable, adaptive, and capable of delivering predictable outcomes.”
The company’s leadership team brings together cross-functional expertise across strategy, creative, media, and performance:
Manoj Motiani, Chief Creative Officer & Partner at Wibe Algo, and former Creative Director at Ogilvy, with over 27 years of experience across brands such as Cadbury, Castrol, and ICICI Bank. “Creativity today has to do more than communicate, it has to contribute to business outcomes. The role of ideas is evolving, and that shift needs to be reflected in how brands build and scale,” he said.
Rajeev Sharma, Chief Strategy & Growth Officer at Wibe Algo, with over three decades of experience across JWT, Ogilvy, and TBWA, including serving as India P&L Head for JWT Digital. “We are entering a phase where growth will be defined by how effectively businesses can connect data, decision-making, and storytelling. That requires a more integrated and disciplined approach to strategy,” he said.
Sanchit Deshmukh, Director Performance Marketing & Media at Wibe Algo, added, “Efficiency is becoming central to growth, whether it is customer acquisition cost, retention, or user quality. These outcomes can only be achieved when systems are connected end-to-end.”
Wibe Algo has already demonstrated early execution across sectors including health and wellness, fintech, and emerging technology categories, working with clients in areas such as cybersecurity and biohacking. The team has supported multi-market campaigns across India, the US, GCC, and Singapore, delivering measurable improvements in acquisition efficiency, conversion outcomes, and customer acquisition costs, achieving up to 10X growth in select campaign metrics through integrated, system-led interventions.
As businesses navigate increasing complexity in consumer behaviour and media fragmentation, Wibe Algo is positioning itself as a partner focused on clarity, integration, and revenue accountability.
“The next phase of growth will not come from doing more,” Chatterjee added. “It will come from building better systems.”

Green Cards, Safer Generations: A Grassroots Fight Against Sickle Cell in Maharashtra

Maharashtra, India May 02: As Maharashtra celebrates its foundation day, a small village near Shirpur is offering a powerful narrative of progress—where tradition is evolving with science, and communities are taking charge of their future through informed choices.
In a quiet yet transformative shift, age-old matrimonial traditions here are being redefined, not by horoscopes or kundlis, but by health cards.
In this unique community-led practice, red and green cards indicating sickle cell status have become a decisive factor in marriage compatibility. The system is simple yet powerful: individuals carrying two green cards are not matched, while red and green card pairings are considered acceptable. This approach is designed to significantly reduce the risk of children being born with sickle cell disease, a serious genetic blood disorder prevalent among tribal populations in Maharashtra.
What makes this model particularly compelling is its grassroots origin. Driven by sustained awareness campaigns and screening initiatives, the practice has organically evolved into a social norm, where informed health choices are influencing deeply personal and cultural decisions like marriage.
Recent screening efforts in the region have highlighted the urgency of such interventions. Across multiple camps conducted in nearby areas, over 400 individuals were screened, with more than 200 identified as carriers and 180 diagnosed with the disease. These numbers underscore the scale of the challenge and the importance of preventive approaches rooted in community participation.
Beyond detection, these initiatives have also focused on counselling, access to medication, and continuous support for affected individuals. The integration of health awareness into social practices marks a significant shift, transforming communities from passive recipients of healthcare to active participants in disease prevention.
Emphasising the need for collective action to tackle sickle cell disease, Dweta Patel, Director, Astitva Social Welfare Foundation, a key force behind the initiative, said, “This initiative is not the effort of one individual but a collective movement shaped by the community, healthcare workers, and volunteers working tirelessly on the ground. What we are witnessing today is the power of awareness translating into action, where people are making informed decisions not just for themselves but for future generations. The red and green card system is a reflection of trust, education, and shared responsibility. Our aim has always been to support those in need, ensure early detection, and build a healthier society. When communities come together like this, real and lasting change becomes possible.”
This evolving matrimonial system stands at the intersection of public health, culture, and social reform. It demonstrates how awareness, when combined with collective action, can lead to meaningful behavioural change without disrupting the social fabric.
As this model continues to grow, it carries a larger vision of communities empowered with knowledge, making choices that can prevent suffering before it begins. By embedding awareness into everyday decisions, this initiative points toward a future where diseases like sickle cell no longer define lives, and where generations are born healthier, freer, and with greater hope.

April Gross GST Collection Hits INR 2,42,702 Crore, Up 8.7 pc; Highest-Ever Monthly Mop-Up!
New Delhi, May 1 (BNP): India’s gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection for April 2026 surged to a record ₹2,42,702 crore, registering an 8.7 per cent increase compared to the same month last year, signalling strong economic momentum and improved tax compliance.

The April collection marks the highest-ever monthly GST mop-up since the nationwide indirect tax regime was rolled out in July 2017, highlighting sustained growth in domestic consumption, trade activity, and business transactions.
Officials said the robust tax numbers reflect the resilience of the Indian economy despite ongoing global uncertainties and geopolitical tensions impacting international markets.
GST collections are widely seen as a key indicator of economic health, as higher revenues generally point to stronger consumer demand, increased commercial activity, and better compliance among taxpayers.
The strong April figures also come at the beginning of the new financial year, raising optimism over government revenue trends and fiscal stability in the months ahead.
Economists noted that consistent growth in GST collections could provide additional fiscal space for infrastructure development, welfare programmes, and public investment, while supporting the government’s broader economic expansion agenda.
The record-breaking collection is expected to further strengthen confidence in India’s growth outlook and revenue position for FY 2026-27.

Mamata Banerjee Warns Against Tampering of Counting Process After Late-Night Visit to EVM Strongroom in Bhabanipur
Kolkata, May 1 (BNP): West Bengal Chief Minister and All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee early Friday issued a stern warning against any attempt to tamper with the vote counting process, hours after she made a late-night visit to an EVM strongroom in Bhabanipur alleging possible malpractice ahead of the May 4 counting.
Banerjee reached the Bhabanipur Assembly segment counting centre at Sakhawat Memorial School on Thursday night and remained inside the premises for nearly four hours along with her election agent. The strongroom houses Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) used in the April 29 polling.

Emerging from the centre shortly after midnight, she stressed the need for strict transparency in the counting process.
“Either the candidate or one agent can stay upstairs. I have also suggested installation of CCTV cameras for the media,” Banerjee told reporters.
Emphasising the importance of safeguarding public mandate, she said, “People’s votes must be protected. I rushed here after receiving complaints. If there is any plan to tamper with the counting process, it will not be tolerated.”
She also alleged that central security personnel initially prevented her from entering the premises.
The development came amid heightened political activity in the state, with TMC leaders intensifying vigilance over strongrooms ahead of counting day.
Meanwhile, Kolkata Mayor and TMC candidate Firhad Hakim reached the venue but was unable to meet Banerjee.
“I came after learning that the chief minister had arrived. However, I could not meet her as she was already inside the premises exercising her right as a candidate to inspect the strongroom,” Hakim said.
In a parallel protest, TMC leaders Kunal Ghosh and Shashi Panja staged a sit-in outside Khudiram Anushilan Kendra in north Kolkata, alleging irregularities and possible tampering of EVMs stored there. The protest led to tense exchanges between TMC and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters.
Earlier in a video message, Banerjee had urged party workers, leaders, and polling agents to maintain a 24-hour vigil outside all EVM strongrooms across the state.
The developments have added to the charged political atmosphere in West Bengal following a fiercely contested Assembly election, with all major parties closely monitoring arrangements ahead of the crucial counting day on May 4.

Security Tightened at Netaji Indoor Stadium Ahead of May 4 Counting Amid TMC Protest Over Alleged Irregularities!
Kolkata, May 1 (BNP): Security has been significantly intensified at Netaji Indoor Stadium ahead of the counting of votes scheduled for May 4, following protests by the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) over alleged irregularities in the electoral process.
Authorities have deployed a large number of police personnel, quick response teams, and surveillance units in and around the counting centre to ensure smooth and peaceful proceedings. Entry and movement around the stadium are expected to be closely regulated, with multi-layer security arrangements put in place.

The enhanced security measures come after TMC leaders and supporters raised concerns over alleged discrepancies and demanded greater transparency in the counting process. Party representatives have also sought strict monitoring and adherence to election guidelines.
Officials said all necessary arrangements are being made to maintain law and order, prevent any untoward incidents, and facilitate a fair counting process on the scheduled date.
Netaji Indoor Stadium, one of Kolkata’s key venues for major civic and administrative events, is expected to witness heavy security presence until the completion of counting.
The administration has appealed to political parties, candidates, and supporters to cooperate with authorities and maintain peace during the counting exercise.

Mumbai Sees Strong Start to FY27 with Record April Property Registrations
May 1: Mumbai’s residential real estate market has started the new financial year on a robust note, with property registrations touching a 14-year high for the month of April. The city recorded over 13,800 property registrations in April 2026, marking a 6% year-on-year growth and the strongest April performance in over a decade, according to data analysed by Knight Frank India.
The surge in registrations underscores sustained end-user demand in the market, even as activity remained elevated on a high base. Stamp duty collections for the month stood at over ₹1,100 crore, witnessing a marginal 1% year-on-year rise, indicating a shift in transaction mix rather than any slowdown in demand.
On a sequential basis, registrations declined by 13% compared to March 2026, while stamp duty revenues fell by 27%, reflecting the typical seasonal moderation following a strong year-end closure cycle. Historically, March tends to see a spike in transactions as buyers rush to close deals before fiscal year-end, with April witnessing a natural cooling-off period.
Industry experts note that the relatively stable revenue collections, despite rising volumes, suggest a growing preference for mid-ticket and value-driven housing, signalling a more balanced and sustainable growth cycle for Mumbai’s residential sector.
Mr. Kamlesh Thakur, President, NAREDCO Maharashtra and Co-Founder & Managing Director, Srishti Group “The fact that Mumbai has recorded its highest-ever April registrations in over 14 years clearly underlines the depth of end-user demand in the market. Achieving a 6% year-on-year growth on an already elevated base reflects strong underlying fundamentals. While stamp duty collections have remained largely stable, it indicates a shift in the transaction mix towards mid-segment housing, which is a healthy sign for long-term market sustainability. The seasonal moderation after March is expected and does not dilute the positive momentum we are witnessing.”
Mr. Ram Naik, Co-founder & CEO, The Guardians Real Estate Advisory “These numbers reaffirm that Mumbai’s residential market continues to be driven by genuine end-user demand rather than speculative activity. Crossing 13,800 registrations in April, traditionally a softer month, highlights the market’s resilience. The marginal growth in stamp duty collections suggests buyers are becoming more value-conscious, with a tilt towards practical ticket sizes. We are also seeing steady traction in emerging micro-markets where affordability and connectivity are aligning well.”
Ms. Shraddha Kedia-Agarwal, Director, Transcon Developers “The sustained momentum in registrations reflects evolving homebuyer aspirations, especially for quality living and well-planned developments. While overall revenues have seen limited growth, it signals a conscious recalibration in buyer preferences towards value-driven purchases rather than just high-ticket transactions. This is a positive shift, as it broadens the demand base and supports long-term stability in Mumbai’s residential market.”
Mr. Shilpin Tater, Managing Director, Superb Realty “Recording the strongest April in 14 years is a significant milestone for Mumbai’s real estate market. Even with the typical post-March moderation, transaction volumes remain robust, indicating continued buyer confidence. The data suggests a well-balanced market where demand is steady and not overheated. For developers, this reinforces the importance of delivering projects that align with buyer expectations on pricing, quality, and timelines.”
