The Ultimate Winter Treat: Why Choco Pie Is the Sweetest Companion for Cold Evenings

Bengaluru, Dec 22:  Winter has a way of slowing life down—just enough for us to savour its small, comforting joys. The warm glow of lights, thick blankets, quiet evenings indoors, and the craving for something sweet all make this season feel special. And in these moments, few treats capture the spirit of winter as effortlessly as Lotte Choco Pie.

Lotte Choco Pie

For many, Lotte Choco Pie is more than a snack—it’s a nostalgic bite that reminds us of simpler days. The soft cake, gooey marshmallow centre, and smooth chocolate coating bring an immediate sense of warmth and comfort, making it a natural winter favourite. Its familiarity appeals across age groups, turning it into a household staple during the colder months. In a season when people turn to familiar flavours and childhood favourites, Lotte Choco Pie stands out as a snack/dessert that never disappoints.

A Comfort Snack That Brings Back Childhood Warmth

Winter often takes us back to memories of growing up snuggling under blankets, watching movies with family, or sipping warm drinks on study nights. Choco Pie fits perfectly into these moments. It offers the kind of uncomplicated joy that feels especially meaningful in today’s fast-paced routines. One bite is enough to spark nostalgia, reminding us of school breaks, shared tiffins, and small celebrations.

The Perfect Pairing for Winter Drinks

Whether it’s hot chocolate, warm milk, spiced chai, or a cinnamon latte, winter beverages feel even better with the right sweet treat. Many enjoy warming a Choco Pie in the microwave for a few seconds until the marshmallow softens and the chocolate lightly melts. Paired with a steaming mug on a cold night, it becomes an instant mood lifter.

A Dessert That Requires No Effort

One reason Choco Pie becomes a winter essential is its ability to transform into comforting desserts with almost no effort—no baking, no preparation, just creativity.

Some popular winter variations include:

  1. Warm Choco Pie S’mores with melted chocolate.
  2. Choco Pie fondue bites dipped in warm chocolate or caramel
  3. Warm Choco Pie mug desserts where a heated Choco Pie is  paired with warm chocolate sauce or custard for an instant winter treat.

In a season when kitchens are busy with guests and celebrations, these ideas show why Choco Pie shines—simple, indulgent, and always ready in minutes.

A Treat That Brings Families Together

Winter brings families close—holiday breaks, game nights, and cosy weekend gatherings. Choco Pie naturally fits into these moments because everyone enjoys it. Children love the marshmallow centre, adults appreciate the nostalgia, and grandparents often enjoy it with their evening tea. It’s a dessert that crosses generations without effort.

A Sweet Companion for Quiet Evenings

Not every winter night is about celebrating. Some evenings are meant for solitude—a book, a show, or a moment to unwind after a long day. Choco Pie adds comfort to these moments too. It becomes a small reward that makes even the quietest nights feel warmer and more enjoyable.

A Simple but Thoughtful Festive Gift

From Christmas and New Year gifting to Secret Santa exchanges and office treats, Choco Pie has become a popular winter gift. Its universal appeal, attractive packaging and reliability make it a thoughtful choice. Many even use it in DIY winter hampers along with hot chocolate mixes, marshmallows and cookies.

A Winter Staple Worth Stocking

Lotte Choco Pie stands out because it delivers comfort without effort. It’s nostalgic yet relevant, simple yet indulgent, and always satisfying. As the temperatures dip, this humble treat continues to remind us that sometimes the sweetest winter memories come from the simplest things. This winter, as families seek comfort, warmth and togetherness, Choco Pie remains the perfect sweet companion.

A Conqueror of Death: The Zambian Nurse Who Defied All Odds

Hyderabad, Dec 22: Extraordinary self-belief, unwavering hope, and world-class medical care came together to turn a 27-year-old nurse from Zambia into a true conqueror of death. Her name is Mumba Margaret. She was diagnosed with one of the most aggressive and life-threatening blood cancers—Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML). The cancer was first detected in September 2023. Doctors advised that she required highly advanced treatment and a stem cell (bone marrow) transplant. Determined to survive at any cost, she travelled thousands of miles and reached KIMS Hospital, Secunderabad, seeking hope and life.

Photo (3)

Mumba Margaret’s treatment journey was far from easy. Even before the stem cell transplant could be performed, she was diagnosed with tuberculosis. During treatment, the leukemia relapsed, making another round of chemotherapy necessary. In the meantime, she suffered multiple severe infections. Despite facing countless complications, Mumba remained hospitalized for nearly 40 days, fighting with remarkable courage and resilience. Details of her condition and the treatment provided were shared by Dr. Narendra Kumar Thota, Head of the Hemato-Oncology Department, Stem Cell and Bone Marrow Transplant Specialist at KIMS Hospital, along with his team.

On June 19, 2025, Mumba Margaret underwent her first stem cell transplant at KIMS Hospital. However, post-transplant, she developed extremely rare and life-threatening complications that occur in only a very small number of patients. One of them was dyselectrolytemia, a condition where levels of sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and chloride in the blood rise dangerously, which can lead to severe weakness, nausea, vomiting, seizures, kidney failure, and other serious risks. She also developed febrile neutropenia, a condition marked by a drastic reduction in white blood cells that fight infections. Additionally, her heart and lung functions were severely compromised.

She further suffered from Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome (PRES), which caused sudden headaches, seizures, blurred vision, confusion, loss of consciousness, and swelling in the posterior part of the brain.

At one point, it seemed there was almost no chance of survival. Mumba experienced more than seven cardiac arrests, requiring repeated CPR to revive her. Each time, the stem cell transplant team, critical care specialists, and cardiology teams made relentless efforts to save her life. Alongside this extraordinary medical intervention, Mumba herself displayed incredible mental strength and an unyielding will to live. The highest standards of medical care, coordinated multidisciplinary treatment, advanced technology, and constant vigilance by the medical teams at KIMS ultimately turned the tide in her favour.

Today, Mumba Margaret stands as a symbol of hope. Having conquered aggressive leukaemia and survived a series of life-threatening complications, she has reclaimed her life. After months of intensive treatment, she is now healthy and stable. She is fully prepared to return to her home country, Zambia, with renewed strength. With the joy of reuniting with her family and the dream of resuming her nursing profession, she is ready to begin a new chapter of life.

Mumba’s journey is a testament to the power of modern medicine and the unwavering commitment of the KIMS Oncology Department. The dedication of the haematology and stem cell transplant teams, combined with the extraordinary courage of this young nurse, secured her future. Her life story proves that courage has no limits—and that with the right treatment and strong hope, even the toughest battles can be won.

The City Police Commissioner, Shri. Seemant Kumar Singh, IPS who was keen on ensuring the well-being of police personnel, encouraged the health initiative to address these issues and together with the Happiest Health team, Project Khushi was launched.

On September 11, 2025, what began as small practical steps towards better health quietly grew into lasting habits. This ignited a journey of hope and commitment, encouraging participants to stay fit, marking the beginning of Project Khushi. The physical and digital program included a dedicated WhatsApp support group offering daily nudges, exercise prompts, and nutrition tips. All participants underwent blood tests before and after the program, through which their health was assessed.

“Project Khushi a permanent program for Bengaluru Police”

The Police Chief said that the impact of Project Khushi was visible. “It was a pleasant surprise to see police personnel walking during afternoons, which was a rarity before,” he said during the closing ceremony of Project Khushi on 18th December 2025.

“We will make project Khushi a permanent program for Bengaluru police and an MoU will be signed with Happiest Health for the same,” said Seemant Kumar Singh.

Appreciating the efforts of the participants who actively involved in Project Khushi, the police chief said that it should not be limited to 90 days but continued and followed throughout your life. Police personnel who actively took part in the Project Khushi will be the brand ambassadors of the project in their divisions, he added.

Police Commissioner who himself was part of the WhatsApp group of Project Khushi said that this is not just a one-time program, but something to be practiced every day for better health and lifestyle. “Once a year when we do medical check-up, the awareness will be there for just 6-7 days. But this project has made police more conscious of their health,” the commissioner said.

Addressing the media Narayana M, DCP, Electronic city, and nodal officer for Project Khushi said that the interactive sessions created a thought-provoking process about one’s own lifestyle. “During the interactive sessions, we could interact with city’s leading specialist doctors. Our diet and sleep patterns improved. Not just that, the participants’ interactions with the family improved. In addition, their participation and involvement in the work also has enhanced. The changes are seen not only in our outlook, but in our kitchen too. We have stopped having junk food like chips in our meetings and have shifted to healthy food,” he said.

The transformation in the food choices were evident, where instead of fried chips, a bowl of fruits were served to all participants at Project Khushi event on Thursday. The same has been adapted in all police divisions for meetings, the police chief said. Narayana pointed out that the project also addressed the stress management issues and led to better mental health of participants.

Ravi Joshi, Co-Chief Executive Officer, Knowledge, said,

“Project Khushi is a powerful reminder that sustainable health doesn’t come from drastic interventions, but from small, consistent, science-backed habits. Police personnel work under immense physical and mental pressure, and this initiative shows that when the right support system is put in place, meaningful change is possible. India has centuries of spiritual wisdom attained by rishis as part of its heritage and through the teachings of vedas, Upanishads and Gita has contributed immensely to the world. The true source of all wisdom leads to culmination of jeeva into Shiva. Meditation is a need for collective progress towards becoming Viksit Bharat – not only as an economic leader but also as a spiritual leader. The processes is eased through Pranahuti – a divine energy which accelerates our journey to the ultimate Destination. Meditation in Sanskrit means Dhyana – a word which is a derivative of Dhi and Yan which is akin to a vehicle that transports one’s consciousness to the Divine. It is a tool to drop the inertia and arrive at a higher consciousness. Just as our body needs nourishment, so does our mind needs nourishment which comes through meditation. I am overjoyed to have our esteemed dignitaries who are also advocating meditation through Pranahuti and the innumerable numbers participate in today’s meditation to raise our collective consciousness.”

In the year 2024, the United National General Assembly unanimously declared 21 December coinciding with winter solstice as World Meditation Day when humanity would go inwards for peace. Many practitioners have testified to the effectiveness of Heartfulness meditation, citing greater emotional steadiness, deeper clarity, and a more composed response to daily challenges.

The practice encourages individuals to pay attention to this inner space with clarity. When the mind and heart begin to work in tune, life is more balanced. This is why Heartfulness focuses on meditating on the heart, a practical way of listening inward and navigating everyday life with a clearer sense of direction.

As Season 1 unfolds, TPBL is not just hosting matches—it is building a legacy. Indian Basketball has found a bold new home in Telangana.

According to Srujana, a similar league for Women and Children is around the corner.

Basketball in Telangana is not yet a mass sport like cricket, but it is one of the fastest-growing organised sports in the state, with strong institutional backing, rising youth participation, and—most importantly—the launch of a professional league, said R Sridhar Reddy, President of Telangana Basketball Association

Mr. A. Prudhvishwar Reddy, General Secretary, Telangana Basketball Association, further adds that Basketball in Telangana has seen steady and meaningful growth over the years. Today, we have more than 10,000 active players participating across schools, colleges, academies, universities, and district associations. The sport enjoys a strong footprint in regions such as Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Warangal, Karimnagar, Khammam, and Nizamabad, with players regularly competing in platforms like the School Games Federation of India, Khelo India, inter-university tournaments, and district championships. Basketball has particularly found resonance in urban schools, private institutions, and universities, where access to indoor facilities has helped nurture talent.

Adding further, he stated that at the grassroots and institutional level, Telangana is well-positioned. The state has over 30 structured basketball academies and training centres, supported by robust school programs in CBSE, ICSE, and international schools. The Telangana Basketball Association continues to play an active role in organising competitions, identifying talent, and creating pathways for young players. Hyderabad remains the hub of basketball activity in the state, thanks to better infrastructure, experienced coaches, and consistent exposure to competitive play.

In terms of infrastructure, Mr A. Prudhvishwar Reddy adds, facilities such as the K.V.B.R. India’s Steel Vision Takes Global Shape at Ambassadorial Meet Led by HD Kumaraswamy

Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries Shri H.D. Kumaraswamy held an interactive meeting with Ambassadors and representatives of key partner countries, inviting them to actively participate in Bharat Steel 2026, the flagship international conference-cum-exhibition of the Ministry of Steel, scheduled to be held in April 2026.

The interactive session witnessed strong participation from Ambassadors and diplomatic representatives of countries playing a significant role in the global steel value chain. The meeting formed part of the Ministry’s outreach efforts to deepen international cooperation and strengthen India’s engagement with global steel-producing and steel-consuming nations.

Addressing the gathering, Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy warmly welcomed the Ambassadors and thanked them for their presence, noting that their participation reflected the importance India places on trusted international partnerships. He underlined that India’s steel sector mirrors the country’s broader economic transformation and has emerged as a pillar of growth, resilience, and global integration.

The Minister highlighted that India is currently the world’s second-largest steel producer, a position achieved through sustained reforms, steady investments, and a clear long-term vision focused on modernization, self-reliance, and sustainability. He noted that the steel sector contributes around 2.5% to India’s GDP and supports nearly 2.8 million livelihoods, with demand driven by infrastructure expansion, manufacturing growth, and strategic sectors such as defence and mobility.

Referring to the National Steel Policy 2017 and the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy said India is progressing steadily towards a steel capacity of 300 million tonnes by 2030, with an even more ambitious target of 500 million tonnes by 2047. These milestones, he said, would further integrate India into global steel value chains and open new avenues for international collaboration.

Against this backdrop, the Union Minister announced that the Ministry of Steel has institutionalized an annual flagship International Conference-cum-Exhibition titled “Bharat Steel.” He informed the gathering that the first edition, Bharat Steel 2026, will be held in April 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

Bharat Steel 2026 is envisioned as a global platform bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, investors, technology providers, and buyers from across the world. A key highlight of the event will be a dedicated Reverse Buyer–Seller Meet, aimed at facilitating structured B2B engagements and fostering long-term partnerships.

The conference will focus on expanding steel consumption, promoting sustainability and the circular economy, securing raw material supply chains, accelerating technological innovation, and enabling investments for capacity expansion. It will also deliberate on future-defining themes, including green steel ecosystems, digitally enabled steel plants and mines, efficient utilization of low-grade ores through beneficiation and pelletisation, advanced steels for clean energy and mobility, and the transition towards a circular steel economy.

The Union Minister encouraged Ambassadors and country representatives to facilitate participation from their respective countries, especially industry leaders, technology providers, and investors. He also invited partner nations to participate in Country Roundtables and to associate as Partner Countries at Bharat Steel 2026, stating that such engagement would further strengthen bilateral cooperation and long-term collaboration in the steel sector.

Concluding the interactive session, H.D. Kumaraswamy expressed confidence that with strong international participation, Bharat Steel 2026 will emerge as a landmark global event for the steel industry. He said the Ministry looks forward to welcoming international delegations to New Delhi in April 2026 for what is envisioned to be a defining platform shaping the future of global steel cooperation.
