Hyderabad, 04th November, 2025: The 8th edition of IndiaJoy 2025, India’s most influential festival shaping the creative economy, reached a resounding high as Desi Toons 2025 powered by Green Gold Animation emerged as one of its most defining highlights. Held on November 1st at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), the conclave celebrated the power of Indian storytelling and showcased how creativity, culture, and technology are converging to shape India’s next decade of animation leadership.

Ashwin Kumar Director Mahavatar Narasimha and Rajiv Chilaka Founder & CEO Green Gold Animation during the session Mahavatar Narasimha Divine Storytelling Meets Animation Revolution at Desi Toons 2025.

The day-long animation conclave brought together India’s most prominent creators, producers, and policymakers from the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) sectors, creating a vibrant forum to discuss the opportunities, challenges, and future pathways of India’s growing creative economy. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting; Mr. Sanjay Kumar, IAS, Special Chief Secretary, Department of ITE&C, Government of Telangana; and Mr. Rajiv Chilaka, Founder & CEO of Green Gold Animation and President of TVAGA, in the presence of leading figures from the AVGC and film industries.

Since its inception, Desi Toons, a flagship initiative conceptualized by Green Gold Animation, has become a cornerstone of India’s animation movement. Over the years, it has evolved from a creative conclave into a strategic industry platform, catalysing original IP creation, cross-border collaboration, and policy conversations that continue to influence the growth of India’s AVGC sector. The 2025 edition, themed “The Power of Originals: India’s Cultural Stories for the World,” reflected India’s ongoing shift from a service-driven market to a creator-led ecosystem recognized globally for its originality and storytelling depth.

Desi Toons, in its latest edition, continues to shine as India’s premier animation conclave celebrating the country’s thriving animation sector and uniting studios, creators, broadcasters, and licensing leaders under one platform. The event stands apart for its dedicated focus on Indian original IPs, meaningful industry networking, and exclusive pitching opportunities that nurture creative growth.

Mr. Rajiv ChilakaFounder & CEO of Green Gold Animation and President of TVAGA, emphasized how Desi Toons is helping rewrite India’s animation narrative. “Desi Toons has evolved into a strategic platform that reflects how far India’s animation industry has come, and how much further it can go. For too long, India was seen as a back-end production hub. Today, we are creating original IPs that travel across cultures, languages, and geographies. The real opportunity lies in combining creative courage with business strategy, building studios that don’t just produce animation, but build sustainable, scalable brands. Through Desi Toons, our goal has always been to bring creators, policymakers, and investors to one table so that ideas can turn into enterprises. The conversations that begin here are shaping the industry’s future, both in India and globally.”

Throughout the day, discussions and masterclasses explored how Indian studios can build global-ready IPs and the role of policy, investment, and education in scaling the industry. The sessions featured an impressive line-up including Nag Ashwin (Kalki 2898 AD), Ashwin Kumar (Mahavatar Narasimha), Sai Abhishek (Warner Bros. Discovery South Asia), Ashish Kulkarni (Punnaryug Artvision), and Gaurav Mathur (Epic Games), among others – each bringing a unique perspective to India’s creative renaissance.

Mr. Nag Ashwin, Director of Kalki 2898 AD, reflected on how platforms like Desi Toons are helping India step into a leadership role in the global creative ecosystem. “Events like Desi Toons matter because they remind us that creativity doesn’t exist in isolation – it thrives in ecosystems. What Green Gold Animation has done with this platform is to make collaboration visible and accessible. India is now at a point where we can lead with both imagination and infrastructure. The challenge ahead is not talent, but it’s translating that talent into global-quality projects. Desi Toons gives us the space and the confidence to do that.”

Adding perspective on the changing animation landscape, Ashwin KumarDirector of Mahavatar Narasimha, remarked “Desi Toons captures the pulse of India’s creative economy at the right time. The industry is maturing, technology is accelerating, and audiences are ready for stories that come from India but speak to the world. What I find most powerful is that it brings together people who don’t usually share a room – artists, producers, policymakers, and educators. That kind of convergence is what turns an industry into a movement. Green Gold has built more than a conclave here; they’ve built a mindset for the future.”

From a broadcaster’s lens, Sai Abhishek, Head of Factual Entertainment, Lifestyle & Kids at Warner Bros. Discovery South Asia, highlighted how Indian animation is gaining global credibility. “We’re at an inflection point where India is shifting from a contributor in the global animation supply chain to a creator of global intellectual property. What Desi Toons does brilliantly is bridge the gap between creativity and commerce. It encourages studios to think like storytellers and entrepreneurs at the same time. For us at Warner Bros. Discovery, it’s inspiring to see that kind of creative ambition coming from India – it’s the sign of a mature market that’s ready to compete on the world stage.”

A major highlight of this year’s edition was the launch of the Desi Toons Animation Pitch, a first-of-its-kind platform that gave Indian animation studios the opportunity to present their original IPs directly to broadcasters, OTT platforms, and investors. This initiative underlined Green Gold Animation’s long-standing commitment to empowering India’s animation ecosystem by fostering collaboration, mentorship, and market access.

Over the years, Desi Toons has played a pivotal role in shaping the discourse around India’s creative economy, helping bridge policy and practice while inspiring new creators to think globally. Its success also reflects Telangana’s leadership in building India’s animation hub, with Hyderabad emerging as a global destination for animation, VFX, and gaming.

The 2025 edition welcomed a diverse audience – from industry veterans and studio heads to students and animation enthusiasts – making it a powerful collective of creativity, vision, and ambition. As the curtain closed on this year’s event, one thing was clear: Desi Toons 2025 powered by Green Gold Animation was not just a showcase of talent but a statement of intent, that India is ready to define the next era of animation on the global stage.

IIT Roorkee Researchers Create Life-Like Microscopic Self-Organizing Agents

Researchers from IIT Roorkee fabricate life-like microscopic agents capable of self-organization

IIT Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India, 04th November 2025: Researchers at IIT Roorkee fabricate microscopic hydrogels capable of hosting reactions within to power their self-organization at an oil-water interface. They show several life-like behaviours such as chemical fuel (food) dependence and asocial interactions with other colloids, perform microscale cargo logistics and precision colloidal assembly. Such soft microscopic robots (microbots) would play key roles in environmental remediation and targeted drug delivery. This research was spearheaded by Mr. Pankaj S. Patwal, PhD Research Scholar, under the supervision of Prof. Pavan Kumar Bosukonda and their work has been published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS), one of the world’s most prestigious scientific journals.

Image - 0001 - Researchers from IIT Roorkee fabricate life-like microscopic agents capable of self-organization

The study explores how model microcompartments can utilize chemical reactions hosted within to power outward fluid flow around themselves and regulate their local interactions. This enables them to produce an ordered state at the expense of chemical fuel, maintained away from equilibrium, which is a fundamental aspect of living cells. This research represents a significant step in the growing field of colloidal systems chemistry that seeks to understand how simple chemical components interact locally and produce emergent complex properties that are impossible to replicate in equilibrium conditions. These model colloids not only self-organise but can also control precisely other nearby inert microcompartments. When immobilised, they can collectively execute microscale cargo logistics and precision assembly of microcompartments to enhance chemical signaling between microcompartments.

Beyond mimicking the fundamental aspects of living systems, the findings have meaningful implications for the future. This research is a step towards next-generation intelligent materials, soft robots and artificial cells that can sense, adapt and respond to their complex surroundings. In the future, such non-toxic enzyme-powered microbots could be used in environmental remediation, such as the cleanup of oil spills, chemical sensing, or even drug delivery, where microscopic agents need to move, assemble, and act autonomously without external control.

This research resonates strongly with global scientific and policy priorities. It aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production). It is also in step with India’s strategic emphasis on strengthening the bioeconomy, enabling green technology innovation, and advancing Atmanirbhar Bharat in science and engineering. More broadly, the work contributes to the worldwide movement toward low-energy, biologically inspired technologies that are smart, sustainable, and future-ready.

Prof. Pavan Kumar Bosukonda (Supervisor) remarked, “This research advances our understanding of dynamic self-organization processes at interfaces that is a fundamental feature of living systems. The insights gained here provide a basis for developing autonomous microscale assemblies without external actuation to address challenges in environmental remediation.”

Research Scholar Mr. Pankaj S. Patwal expressed his thoughts, stating, “Our goal is to build smart materials that are capable of organizing and responding like living systems, but made entirely from simple materials.” I am grateful to my advisor, my research group, and IIT Roorkee for fostering an environment that encourages scientific curiosity and interdisciplinary exploration.”

Director, IIT Roorkee, Prof. K.K. Pant, congratulated the team and said, “This achievement reflects the strong research culture at IIT Roorkee and the Institute’s commitment to advancing frontiers in fundamental and applied sciences.”

In simple terms, this research showcases how small biomimetic systems can transiently form and organise themselves without any external trigger in the presence of the chemical fuel that mimics the fundamental behaviour of living systems.  This research will provide future direction for self-operating miniature machines and help create life-like materials that is a current challenge for the scientific community. This breakthrough highlights IIT Roorkee’s growing role in shaping the future of advanced scientific research.

Great Place To Work India Study Reveals 54 percent Workforce Uses AI; 49 percent Millennials Fear Job Loss

54 percent of India’s Workforce Now Using AI, Yet 49 percent of Millennials Fear Job Replacement: Great Place To Work® India Study

Mumbai, 3rd November, 2025: Great Place To Work® India, the global authority on workplace culture, has unveiled its latest ‘Voice of India’ study, revealing how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping the country’s workforce. The findings highlight both growing confidence and lingering concerns as India embraces an AI-driven future.

According to the study, 54% of employees say their organizations are currently at a pilot or intermediate stage of AI implementation signaling steady progress toward a tech-enabled and efficient work environment. The IT sector leads in adoption, followed closely by Financial Services and Insurance, with organizations increasingly focusing on educating employees about responsible and productive AI use.

However, the report also sheds light on workforce anxiety. Four in ten employees fear AI could replace their roles within the next three to five years, with 49% of Millennials expressing this concern most strongly. Among those worried about AI’s impact, 40% are considering leaving their current jobs a challenge that HR and leadership teams must urgently address.

The study notes that AI-related insecurity is highest in organizations at early adoption stages (57%) and lowest in advanced adopters (8%), emphasizing that structured implementation, transparent communication, and leadership support can transform fear into optimism.

Encouragingly, half of the respondents report that their companies are actively helping them learn AI tools through training, experimentation, and responsible-use guidelines. Moreover, 61% of employees in advanced AI organizations feel supported by their leaders in using AI effectively — reinforcing the role of leadership in shaping employee confidence.

“As organizations advance in AI implementation, leaders are designing high impact strategies that enhance human capabilities,” said Balbir Singh, CEO, Great Place To Work® India. “Our ‘Voice of India’ study shows that Certified™ workplaces report 27% stronger leadership support and readiness for AI adoption. To stay ahead, leaders must identify real AI use cases, involve employees, and invest in reskilling programs.”

The report concludes that Certified™ workplaces stand out for their inclusive and responsible approach to AI, ensuring that technology benefits all employees, regardless of role or seniority.

Ultimately, the study underscores that technology’s success depends on workplace culture — trust, empathy, and transparency are key to ensuring AI empowers, rather than replaces, the human workforce as India moves toward an AI-driven economy.
