IIT Kharagpur Professor, Dr. Prabina Rajib, Assumes Role as New Director at BIMTECH
Bengaluru, January 4th, 2024: Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), a leading Business School in India, proudly announces the appointment of Professor Prabina Rajib as its Director, succeeding Dr. Harivansh Chaturvedi.
Dr. Prabina Rajib, a distinguished Professor in Finance & Accounting, at IIT Kharagpur’s Vinod Gupta School of Management, brings a wealth of experience with her. Her extensive portfolio includes roles in teaching, research, and consultancy. Notably, Dr. Prabina Rajib has authored and co-authored two influential books, “Commodity Derivatives and Risk Management” (2014) and “Stock Exchanges Investment and Derivative”, respectively. Her promotions in 2007 and 2011 underscore her significant contributions to academia, emphasizing her unwavering commitment to excellence at IIT Kharagpur.
With over two decades of experience, Dr. Rajib has held several leadership roles, including Dean VGSOM, and has demonstrated her expertise by guiding numerous PhD theses. She has presented and published extensively in national and international journals and conferences.
Dr. Rajib’s research interests span the Indian commodity spot and derivatives market, focusing on commodity hedging strategies, as well as various aspects of modeling and pricing of commodity derivatives. In the Indian capital market, she delves into IPO pricing, buybacks, delisting of companies, and ADRs/GDRs issued by Indian companies. Additionally, she explores various aspects of FDI entry strategy and foreign (technological & financial) collaborations by multinational companies.
Dr. Harivansh Chaturvedi, the outgoing Director, will now assume the role of Chief Educational Advisor, Birla Academy of Art & Culture, the parent body of BIMTECH and Birla Global University (BGU), and mentor them. Dr. Chaturvedi, the longest-serving Director of BIMTECH with 25 years of tenure, has been instrumental in the institute’s significant growth. During his tenure, he led the establishment of two residential campuses at Greater Noida and Bhubaneswar. Dr. Chaturvedi will continue to mentor BIMTECH and BGU, and serve as a member of the Board of the two institutions.

BIMTECH Introduces Comprehensive Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (AI&DS) Course to Meet Growing Industry Demand
Bengaluru, December 21st, 2023: Global markets are witnessing a raise in demand of AI-trained professionals. Leading Indian IT companies have also lately made the decision to train more than 4 lakh workers for jobs involving AI. Understanding this industry need, Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) has launched a “Two-year full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Management [PGDM] in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science.”
The program aims to provide an amalgamation of artificial intelligence and data science technology with Management subjects in different domains, promote engagement between industry and academia at both national and international levels, and establish a group of Management professionals who possess a combination of technical expertise, analytical capabilities, and effective decision-making abilities.
This is a 24-month program. Students who successfully complete the PGDM will be qualified to work on cutting-edge AI projects in fields like finance, education, automotive, retail, entertainment, cybersecurity, and sustainable conservation along with other verticals such as managing financial portfolios, developing and deploying smart logistics systems and creating recommender systems for e-commerce etc using AI. AI is expected to be adopted by 75% of companies and is projected to lead to high churn, with 50% of organizations expecting it to drive job growth.
Dr. Harivansh Chaturvedi, Director, BIMTECH, said, “In India, demand for AI and Data Science professionals is expected to exceed 1 million by 2024, and there is currently a 51% gap between demand and supply for such professionals. Experts predict that by 2030, there will be a 31.4% increase in jobs related to Data Science and mathematical science, mostly AI-based.”

BIMTECH’s 3rd PRISM 2023 Concludes with Insightful Closing Remarks by IIM Nagpur Director, Education Advisor to the Chief Minister of the UP Government
November 21st, 2023; Bangalore: Birla Institute of Management Technology successfully hosted the ‘3rd PRISM 2023 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE’ from November 17th to 19th. The conference explored the challenges of leadership, digitalization, and sustainability under the theme “Reimagining the Future of Business: The Challenges of Leadership, Digitalization, and Sustainability.”
