Successful Microwave Ablation Procedure at KIMSHEALTH
32 Year Old Relieved after Months of Suffering
Thiruvananthapuram, May 27: A 32-year-old patient from Thiruvananthapuram, with complaints of heavy menstrual bleeding and severe abdominal pain during her menstrual cycle for the past one year, reported at the Gynaecology OP, KIMSHEALTH. An ultrasound scan revealed an enlarged uterus with thickened uterine walls, a condition known as adenomyosis.
The medical team led by Dr. P. Rafeekha, Senior Consultant, and Dr. Sajith Mohan R, Consultant, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, KIMSHEALTH, advised her to undergo Microwave Ablation, a minimally invasive procedure designed to reduce uterine wall thickening and relieve pain, while conserving the uterus and fertility. Acting as an alternative to hysterectomy, it effectively reduces uterine wall thickening as well as alleviates pain over time.
During the procedure, a 5 mm incision was made in the abdomen, through which a laparoscopic camera was introduced into the abdominal cavity to assess the extent of uterine enlargement, to ensure precise ablation. A second puncture was then made on the left lateral abdominal wall to navigate a microwave probe. Thermal energy of 40 watts was delivered through the probe to the targeted areas of the thickened uterine wall for 25 to 60 seconds each, covering approximately 10 treatment sites.
For benign uterine conditions like adenomyosis, fibroid uterus and endometriosis, this treatment modality is a boon, as it reduces pain, bleeding and size, while preserving the uterus and its functions,” said Dr. Rafeekha and Dr. Sajith Mohan.
Dr. Divya S S, Consultant, Department of Anaesthesia, and Dr. Rakhi Krishnan R, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, were also part of the two hour long procedure. The patient was discharged the very next day after the procedure.

RCB Storm Into IPL 2026 Final With Record 92-Run Thrashing of Gujarat Titans
Rajat Patidar’s unbeaten 93 powers Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a record 254/5 as Gujarat Titans collapse under pressure in Qualifier 1 at Dharamsala
Dharamsala, May 27 (BNP): Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) produced a commanding all-round performance to storm into the final of IPL 2026 after crushing Gujarat Titans (GT) by 92 runs in Qualifier 1 at Dharamsala.

Putting up a sensational batting display, RCB posted a mammoth 254 for 5 in 20 overs — the highest-ever total in IPL playoff history. Captain Rajat Patidar led from the front with a breathtaking unbeaten 93 off just 33 balls, smashing nine sixes at a staggering strike rate of over 281.
RCB received strong support from senior batter Virat Kohli, who contributed a brisk 43, while Krunal Pandya added another quickfire 43 to propel the team to a massive total.
Chasing a daunting target, Gujarat Titans suffered an early collapse, losing five wickets inside the powerplay and never recovering from the pressure. Rahul Tewatia offered some resistance with a fighting 68, but GT were eventually bowled out for 162 in 19.3 overs.
RCB bowlers delivered an impressive performance with Jacob Duffy leading the attack, claiming 3 wickets for 33 runs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/28), Rasikh Dar (2/26), and Krunal Pandya (2/29) also played crucial roles in dismantling the Gujarat batting line-up.
The emphatic victory sends defending champions RCB into their second consecutive IPL final and marks their fifth overall final appearance in tournament history.
Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans will get another opportunity to stay alive in the competition when they face the winner of the Eliminator in Qualifier 2.
With momentum firmly on their side, RCB now stand just one step away from lifting the IPL 2026 title.

Uber and Mews bring ride booking inside the hotel operating system
Hotels will be able to request, track and bill Uber rides directly from Mews, turning a manual front desk task into a connected workflow and a new source of ancillary revenue.
AMSTERDAM and NEW YORK, NY – May 27 – Mews, the hospitality operating system, has announced a strategic partnership with Uber to embed ride booking, real-time tracking and integrated billing directly into the Mews platform.
Uber announced GO-GET 2026 last month, organizing the app around three actions: go, get and travel. Alongside a series of partnerships on the rider side, the Mews integration extends the same direction into the hotel’s property management system (PMS), giving hoteliers a way to offer Uber rides as part of the guest stay rather than as a transaction that happens outside of their walls.
At Mews Unfold on May 27, 2026 in Amsterdam, Christophe Peymirat, Head of Uber for Business EMEA, and Mike Coscetta, President of Mews, will take the stage together to discuss how collaboration between travel technology, hotels and companies outside the traditional travel sector is reshaping the guest experience.
Transportation bookings are one of the most common guest requests and one of the most manual processes in hotel operations. Mews research from 2026 found that guests arrange their own transportation and spend an average of $50 on it per stay, money that bypasses the hotel entirely.1 With this integration hoteliers can drive additional ancillary revenue by offering this service to guests.
This highlights a significant opportunity: Guests today want a ‘frictionless’ stay where the hotel solves every problem for them, not just the room. By bringing these moments together, this integration allows hotels to move beyond just accommodation and deliver the fully connected experience guests are looking for.
Once live, the integration will allow staff to request a ride for guests with just a few clicks, to track the vehicle in real time and to process the payment automatically, all within Mews. Airport pickups and last-minute changes will be visible and manageable from within the Mews platform.
“Hotels put enormous effort into the guest experience within their four walls,” said Christophe Peymirat, Head of Uber for Business EMEA. “The journey to and from the property is just as much a part of that experience. Connecting Uber’s network directly into the Mews platform is a practical step toward giving hotels visibility and control over something they have been managing manually for decades.”
The same logic applies to hotel teams: Staff transportation for late and night shifts gives hotels a simple way to arrange safe, reliable journeys home for team members and improve staff satisfaction.
The integration is being built to include:
- Staff-initiated and guest-initiated ride booking, available via the Mews platform through accounts and the guest portal • Live vehicle tracking and trip confirmations, so staff and guests know exactly where a ride is • Automatic billing to the guest folio through Mews Payments, removing manual reconciliation and keeping every transaction inside the same platform • Full visibility for the hotel regarding all ride activity, and full transparency for the customer regarding costs • Insights into guest transportation patterns to help hotels plan better and manage services across the guest journey
“Embedding Uber into the Mews Operating System means hotels can offer transportation services as part of the stay and add it to one unified guest bill, making it part of the guest relationship rather than a separate transaction. Transportation is one of the clearest examples of a regular guest requirement that hotels are best positioned to provide but not currently set up to do seamlessly,” said Mike Coscetta, President of Mews.
The Mews and Uber integration is in development, with a pilot launching this year. Further details will be shared directly with customers and partners ahead of launch.
The entire Unfold program will be available to stream live and for free, with the session, “Vision for the industry – Uber” running on Wednesday, May 27, 11:50 AM to 12:05 PM CET.

BurgerMan Sees 22x Order Growth with Zomato Support
Chennai, May 27 : BurgerMan, a popular homegrown burger brand from Chennai, has recorded nearly 193x growth in yearly order volumes since onboarding on Zomato. Founded in 2006, BurgerMan challenged the notion of burgers being a Western indulgence by reimagining them for Indian palates. Over the years, the brand has grown from a modest kiosk format into an urban food icon, steadily expanding its footprint across multiple territories while maintaining consistency in taste, quality, and affordability.
Speaking about the journey, Sunil Cherian, Founder, BurgerMan, said,
“Our goal from day one was to make burgers relatable to Indian consumers. As customer habits evolved and online food ordering became integral, platforms like Zomato helped us extend our reach beyond physical stores while staying true to our brand promise.”
Aditya Mangla, CEO, Zomato, said,
“It’s always encouraging to see restaurants like BurgerMan grow meaningfully while staying true to their cultural identity. Being part of their journey, by strengthening discovery and helping them serve customers better, is our only mission.”
From its humble beginnings, the brand steadily gained popularity for its fresh ingredients, vibrant identity, and affordable pricing, becoming a go-to choice for urban consumers. Over the years, BurgerMan transitioned from a kiosk model into a fully franchised chain, expanding its footprint while maintaining consistency in quality and experience. Today, the brand operates 30 stores across three territories and has set an ambitious target of scaling to 100 outlets within the next two years, as it continues to grow its presence and customer base.
Since onboarding on Zomato, the brand has been able to:
- Achieved ~22x growth in yearly order volumes, reflecting strong online demand
- Expanded its reach by tapping into the growing digital delivery ecosystem
- Improved visibility through advertisement services and enhanced menu presentation
- Optimized its menu and positioning to appeal to both first-time and repeat customers
- Strengthened its identity as a premium-yet-accessible Indian burger brand
To help small restaurants scale quickly, Zomato has introduced several initiatives in recent years. These include a DIY onboarding tool that helps restaurants get listed on the platform in just 15 minutes and access to the Restaurant Services Hub, a curated marketplace of verified vendors offering licensing, staffing, and hygiene audit services. In select cities, new restaurants also benefit from 0% commission for the first 30 days, along with advertisement services and Hyperpure services. As of Q3 FY26, Zomato has an average of 336,000 monthly active food ordering and delivery restaurant partners on the platform.

DJ Kiara Elevates IPL Entertainment as Gujarat Titans’ Official DJ
India, May 27 : Globally recognized DJ and music composer and artist DJ Kiara continues her landmark journey with the Gujarat Titans as the Official DJ for the team during IPL 2026, further establishing herself as one of India’s leading names in live sports entertainment.
Known for her high-energy performances and instinctive understanding of stadium culture, Kiara has become a defining part of the matchday experience at the Narendra Modi Stadium- the world’s largest cricket stadium. Since first joining the Gujarat Titans during IPL 2024, she has played a pivotal role in shaping the in-stadium sound and atmosphere for thousands of fans across one of the world’s biggest sporting leagues.
During IPL 2026, Kiara performed across all seven home matches of the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium, delivering live stadium experiences at one of the most high-pressure and widely viewed sporting environments in the world.
At just 28, Kiara holds one of the most demanding roles in live sports entertainment, curating and executing the music experience in real time during live matches. Her sharp instinct for timing and crowd energy has made her one of the few artists capable of seamlessly blending music with the intensity and emotion of international-level cricket.
Her continued journey with the Gujarat Titans marks another major milestone in a career that has consistently broken barriers for women in live entertainment and electronic music. In 2024, she became the first female DJ to perform at the Narendra Modi Stadium and has since performed at some of the world’s most iconic cricket venues, including Eden Gardens, Wankhede Stadium, Dubai International Cricket Stadium and Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
“It is an honorary feeling to represent a team like Gujarat Titans and perform across all their home matches at a stage as massive as the IPL,” says Kiara. “Cricket has always been deeply emotional for me. I grew up loving the game, celebrating it and feeling every moment of it with full heart and today, to combine that love with music feels surreal. There’s something incredibly powerful about watching thousands of people feel the same emotion together through both cricket and music at the same time. Those two worlds coming together creates an energy that is almost impossible to describe. Every match reminds me why I fell in love with both.”
Kiara has also achieved major milestones on the global cricket stage, including performing as an official DJ at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup after previously performing at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Dubai and Sharjah, becoming the only Indian female artist to perform as an official DJ across both ICC tournaments.

Piece of Global Telecommunications History Found at Somerset Roadshow
LONDON, UK. MAY 2026. A rare and historically important piece of global telecommunications history has been uncovered at a WeBuyVintage antiques roadshow in Evercreech, Somerset after antiques expert Ismael Khan identified an authentic 1858 Tiffany & Co. Transatlantic Telegraph Cable section brought in by a member of the public. The remarkable find, valued at £800 originates from the first successful transatlantic telegraph cable, completed in 1858, under the leadership of entrepreneur Cyrus W. Field and the Atlantic Telegraph Company.
The cable stretched between Valentia Island in Ireland and Newfoundland in Canada, transforming communications by reducing message delivery times between Europe and North America from around ten days by ship, to only minutes. Although the cable operated for only three weeks, it proved that transatlantic communications were possible and paved the way for the global telecommunications systems used today.

Cyrus W. Field (1819-892) was an American businessman and financier who spear-headed this 19th century pioneering achievement. Although he had no formal background in engineering, he was inspired by the idea of linking Europe and North America through a telegraph cable laid across the Atlantic Ocean. Beginning in the mid-1850s, Field organized and financed multiple expeditions to attempt the project, working closely with scientists and engineers from both sides of the Atlantic. The early attempts were plagued by technical failures; cables broke during laying and signals were unreliable, but he continued to raise money and rebuild support despite repeated setbacks.
After years of effort, the first successful transatlantic telegraph message was finally sent in 1858 between Queen Victoria and U.S. President James Buchanan, though that early cable soon failed. A more durable line was successfully completed in 1866, marking the true breakthrough that made near-instant communication between continents possible for the first time. Field’s persistence and ability to secure investment were key to overcoming the immense technical and financial challenges of the project. He is remembered not just for the cable itself, but for helping usher in a new era of global communication.
Following the success of the project, Cyrus W. Field sold a quantity of the leftover 1858 Atlantic cable to Tiffany & Co. to be transformed into souvenirs, in order to mark such a historic occasion. Tiffany & Co. cut the cable into smaller sections and sold them as authenticated commemorative pieces, such as this example, for collectors and history enthusiasts (with some being made into jewellery).
Ismael Khan, an antiques specialist at WeBuyVintage who has extensive experience sourcing and valuing rare antiques, immediately recognised the significance of this unusual object during the Somerset roadshow. He said: “This is an exceptionally rare find and certainly not the sort of item you come across every day. To discover this genuine 1858 Tiffany & Co. transatlantic cable section is incredibly exciting. It represents a major moment in global history and the beginning of instant international communication. Pieces like this are highly sought after because they combine engineering, innovation and historical significance.”
The cable section measures approximately four inches long and still has its original brass certification band engraved with the words: “Atlantic Telegraph Cable / Guaranteed by Tiffany & Co. / Broadway, New York. 1858. It retains its original engineering structure, including copper wire core, gutta percha insulation, tarred hemp wrapping and iron wire armouring, making it both a technological artefact and a highly desirable collector’s item.
Khan adds: “This is exactly why we hold roadshows around the country. People often have fascinating items tucked away without realising what they are. To uncover something linked to one of the Victorian era’s greatest engineering achievements is a real privilege and a reminder that important history can still turn up in unexpected places.”

Africa Rising Music Conference 2026 concludes with landmark international collaborations, artist development initiative, future-focused industry conversations and announces 2027 dates.
Africa Rising Music Conference (ARMC) 2026 concluded this past weekend at Constitution Hill in Johannesburg, delivering two days of forward-thinking conversations, international networking, and cultural exchange that further cemented ARMC’s position as one of Africa’s most important music industry platforms.
Bringing together over 1000 artists, executives, entrepreneurs, policymakers, creatives and innovators from over 15 countries over the two conference days, ARMC 2026 focused not only on conversations about the future of music – but on creating tangible opportunities and real industry outcomes for African artists. The star-studded line-up and attendees featured leading voices from music, culture and government, including Elaine, TRESOR, Kim Jayde and Janesh, alongside key institutional representation from the Limpopo Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, the German Embassy Pretoria, the Australian High Commission Pretoria and the Embassy of Sweden in Pretoria.
One of the conference’s most significant announcements was the official launch of the Music Mentorship Program for South African Artists, a new collaboration between the German Embassy Pretoria, ARMC and Paradise Worldwide. Officially unveiled during the conference by representatives from all three organisations, the initiative is designed to bridge the gap between creativity and professional music industry development for South African artists.
“Music and diplomacy share many traits. They connect people. They foster collaboration. When successful, they create something bigger than the sum of its parts. ARMC’s Mentorship Programme for South African Artists is about just that: connections between German and South African artists to create something beautiful. As the German Embassy, we are glad to be part of this.” – Marten Menger, Head of the Cultural Department at the German Embassy Pretoria.
Applications for the programme are now officially open, with five selected artists set to receive comprehensive support for an upcoming release project including professional mastering, release strategy support, one-on-one international mentorship paired with established German music industry professionals and artists, EP and single artwork design, professional press shots, in-studio promotional content production and visual storytelling support. The launch marked a major step toward building stronger international creative exchange between South Africa and Germany while investing directly in the next generation of South African talent.
Another standout moment at ARMC 2026 was the introduction of the Berlin AI Think Tank in Africa, which created a critical platform for discussions around artificial intelligence, creator consent, licensing, attribution and fair remuneration within the rapidly evolving music landscape. With local and international stakeholders in attendance – including SAMPRA, CAPASSO, AIxchange, the Association for Electronic Music (AFEM), Fraunhofer IDMT and others – the Think Tank initiated critical conversations around the next steps toward a more independent and sustainable Pan-African AI ecosystem for music and the creative industries.
ARMC 2026 also strengthened international cultural ties to Australia, the official international focus country of this year’s edition, through the SA Meets Australia Networking Reception, presented in collaboration with the Australian High Commission Pretoria, Creative Australia and Alchemy Music. The reception featured a special live performance by Australian artist DOBBY, whose appearance became one of the conference’s defining moments when he invited emerging South African rappers onto the stage for an improvised freestyle collaboration – creating an authentic and spontaneous exchange between young artists from both countries. The moment reflected ARMC’s broader vision of fostering meaningful global collaboration through music and culture.
“ARMC provides an important platform to bring together artists and industry from around Africa and the world to exchange experiences, knowledge and ideas. Alchemy Music is proud to bring the first Australian delegation to the event, highlighting common challenges and opportunities as well as showcasing the extraordinary talent of First Nation rapper DOBBY and alt-r&b/ambient electronica singer, songwriter and producer Milan Ring.” – Frank Rodi, Alchemy Music
Beyond the conference programme, ARMC 2026 delivered a dynamic live music experience with performances and showcases from artists including Henrik Schwarz (DE), Young Duragg (ZA), Mörda (ZA), Doowap (ZA), Rouge (ZA), HARUNA (UK), TIMANTI (UK) and many more, celebrating the diversity and global influence of contemporary African music culture.
“Having hosted a workshop on female empowerment at last year’s conference, returning to ARMC this year as an artist was incredibly special,” said Rouge. “I’ve made so many meaningful connections through this platform and witnessed firsthand how important these spaces are for African creatives. ARMC is more than just a conference, it’s a growing movement that the global music industry should be paying close attention to.”
The success of ARMC 2026 was made possible through the support of headline partner Paradise Worldwide as well as Mint Digital Services, Johnnie Walker AfroExchange, Jaecoo, SAMRO, Ray-Ban, KFC, SAMPRA, Billboard Africa, Hype Magazine, Music In Africa, Trace, Resident Advisor, sponsors, speakers, artists, delegates, media and collaborators who contributed to making this year’s edition one of the conference’s most impactful and internationally connected gatherings to date.
ARMC 2027 dates have officially been announced – save the date for 21st & 22nd May 2027. Early bird tickets for next year’s conference are now officially available on Quicket.
