WorkIndia Official Logo

India, 06th March 2023: To commemorate the occasion of International Women’s Day, WorkIndia, India’s largest blue and grey collared recruitment platform, today launched its Digital first campaign called #WomenofToday. The campaign aims to dispel the stereotypical and archaic imagery of the depiction of modern women, which is largely associated only with celebrities and otherwise disregarded to women daily.

Conceptualized and executed by WorkIndia’s content and brand marketing team, the #WomenOfToday campaign’s objective is to celebrate and recognize the efforts of women across every segment who often go unnoticed and bring to the fore that they too symbolize modern Indian women.

The campaign further aims to highlight that women of today deserve glowing tributes as they are breaking barriers by entering and growing across professions which are not common for women while balancing their day-to-day lives. These women also represent the modern Indian woman and deserve appreciation.

Commenting on the same, Co-founder & CEO of WorkIndia, Mr. Kunal Patil, said, “Through this campaign, our aim is to highlight the contribution of women in the blue and grey collared segment who painstakingly go about their jobs without getting the recognition they deserve. We have seen over the years how significant their contribution to the SME sector and the overall economy has been and, how hugely inspirational they have been to other women to take up jobs and make a meaningful impact in their lives.”

The campaign which will be promoted across digital platforms highlights the meteoric growth of women professionals in the blue-collar industry. Compared to 2021, women job applicants have recorded more than a 100% growth with respect to 2022 on the WorkIndia platform, especially in sectors catering to beauticians, technicians, counseling, engineering, graphic designing, hotel staff, etc.

5 Hard lessons for E-commerce entrepreneurs

Dr. Deepak Jain, Founder, The Fragrance People

By Dr. Deepak Jain, Founder, The Fragrance People

The E-commerce industry is currently Dr. Deepak Jain, Founder, The Fragrance Peopleone of the fastest-growing industries in the world. The field is ever-changing with rapidly evolving technologies, trends, and competitive environments- resulting in both positive and negative effects for all. The digital revolution has completely changed consumer behaviour, and brands need to respond accordingly. Consumers completely altered their method of buying items during the lockdown, forcing companies to invest aggressively in digital marketing and other growth strategies.

Here are some suggestions to be mindful of while starting your entrepreneurial e-commerce journey.

1. Product quality matters to a great extent

The quality metric also applies to any tangible you’d sell online. The price must meet the consumer expectation for quality, or your business will suffer from rampant returns, lack of loyalty and an exceptionally low retention rate. Greatly inflating the price of the product against its actual market value, thus denigrating the expected quality to the consumer, can cause distrust in your business.

2. Simplifying Helps You And Your Customers

Simplifying checkout instead can boost your order rate and give you a better chance of creating repeat customers. Adding carts to every sales or product page and providing fast payment and guest checkout options empower visitors to buy as well. And making your returns policy less complicated helps people trust your business more. These steps and other universalization efforts can also improve your operations. Standardizing your product packaging and box sizes, for example, can make it easier to control shipping costs.

3. Determine if you’re targeting the right customers

Many businesses find it difficult to understand who their target market is online and convert them even if they have a well-optimized website. Even if you promote your website through various social media channels or through paid advertisements, you won’t reach your target ROI if you’re not talking to the right people about your business. Figure out your target market and check if you’re indeed serving the right people for your products. Once you know which type of audiences you should serve, it’ll be easier to create a strategy that will increase your conversion rates.

4. Choosing the right e-commerce  the platform for your needs

An e-commerce platform is your “physical store” online. This is where you operate your business, and this is where you work on your business. There are different e-commerce platforms designed to suit different needs. By eliminating ineffective ads and scaling those platforms that perform well, the budget can be optimized, and the best advertising price for customers can be achieved.

5. Treat your online store the same way as if it’s an offline store

Selling online may be quite easy than selling offline, but the efforts in maintaining it should be the same. Entrepreneurs need to look at it as a big investment requiring copious amounts of effort. Every missed comment, every positive review left unheard, is a missed opportunity for your website. A simple response can make a difference when it comes to customer engagement. Hence businesses should put the same amount of effort into the website to make it profitable in the long run.

On International Women’s Day: Fuel your health with the right nutrition!

Women are known to be multitaskers, right from managing their household chores to their careers. They are responsible for taking care of their children and family while balancing their personal and professional goals. In this hustle-bustle, most women tend to overlook their health.

Dr. Irfan Shaikh, Head Pediatric Nutrition, Scientific & Medical Affairs, Abbott's Nutrition businessWith International Women’s Day around the corner, it is essential for women to know why they must take care of their health with the right nutrition and indulge in an active lifestyle. This will help them keep moving, enabling them to continue and enjoy the simple everyday life. Dr. Irfan Shaikh, Head, Medical & Scientific Affairs at Abbott’s Nutrition Business shares 6 essential nutrients that should be present in every woman’s plate:

Calcium: Calcium helps to strengthen bones at every stage of life. Not many are aware that bones are constantly remodeling within the body. This replacement process often involves removing small amounts of calcium from the bones which are exchanged with new calcium. Therefore, it is necessary to consume adequate calcium to preserve bone density during this process. Products like lentils, beans, soybeans, and fatty fish along with fruits such as orange, guava, and papaya will help increase calcium levels in the body.

Iron: Iron is an essential micronutrient required as a component for a number of proteins, including enzymes and hemoglobin. The latter is important for the transport of oxygen to tissues throughout the body for metabolism. It is also required for many critical functions in the human body such as – energy metabolism, mixed-function oxidase systems, neurodevelopment, connective tissue synthesis, and hormone synthesis. Iron deficiency is the most common mineral deficiency seen in Indian women. Foods like nuts, dried fruit, legumes (mixed beans, baked beans, lentils, chickpeas), dark leafy green vegetables (spinach, broccoli), fish, red meat, etc can be good sources of iron.

Vitamin D: A vital mineral, vitamin D improves calcium and phosphate absorption, which is important for maintaining strong, healthy bones and better immune system regulation. Most people normally obtain Vitamin D through sunlight, but other sources include foods like mushrooms, soy milk, eggs, shrimp, and fatty fish[i]

Fibre: Soluble Fibre is the most effective nutrient to reduce cholesterol and sugar levels in the blood. Obtaining enough fibre in meals becomes crucial to achieve adequate nutrition since it aids in digestion and absorption. Foods high in fibre include oat bran, barley, nuts, seeds, beans, lentils, peas, fruits, and vegetables. Also, drinking a lot of water helps you utilize the fibre in your meal to the fullest.

Vitamin B12: Vitamin B12 helps in the functioning and development of red blood cells, the nervous system, and the brain. Fatigue and anemia can arise from a vitamin B12 deficiency, and as you become older, your body may become less prone to using B12. Blood samples should be thoroughly examined to develop a strategy for preventing illnesses. Foods such as meat, eggs, and dairy products can provide key vitamin B12.

Protein: A moderately high protein intake is required to maintain a positive nitrogen balance. It is also needed to offset lower energy intake, impaired insulin function and decrease in protein synthesis, all of which occur with ageing. Protein-rich foods constitute a balanced diet that maximizes energy and strength. Foods such as eggs, meat, fish, pulses, and legumes provide the required am
