India’s First Official F1 Sim Racing Championship Launched

Chandigarh, Apr 30: Formula 1 and Mumbai Falcons Racing Limited announce the launch of India’s first Official F1® Sim Racing Championship. Held under an agreement that grants Mumbai Falcons the rights to host an official Formula 1® sanctioned sim racing competition, the F1® Sim Racing India Open 2026 will establish a national competitive platform for emerging talent across the country. The Championship is designed to create a structured pathway from virtual competition to professional motorsport, offering young drivers a credible first step into the wider racing ecosystem. This also marks the first time Formula 1® has introduced a programme of this nature, exclusively for India.

The announcement comes at the perfect time, as conversations around bringing Formula 1® back to India gain momentum and fan interest in the sport continues to surge. With e-sports now officially recognised under the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, initiatives like the F1® Sim Racing India Open 2026 connect India to the global driver pathway of F1®, tapping into a rapidly growing motorsport ecosystem.

Conducted under an agreement granting Mumbai Falcons the rights to host an official F1-sanctioned sim racing competition in India, the Championship will be played on F1® 25, the official game of the FIA Formula 1® World Championship™, featuring identical circuits, competitive formats, and team liveries as the global series. Registrations are set to commence on 30th April, 2026 on the MFRL App (available on Play Store and Apple Store). Participants will be able to compete via PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox. Online qualifiers in the coming months will lead to city-based simulator rounds, culminating in a national final in Mumbai in November.

J.P. Nadda to Inaugurate 10th National Public Health Innovation Summit in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, Apr 29 (BNP): Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare J.P. Nadda will inaugurate the 10th National Summit on Good and Replicable Practices and Innovations in Public Health Systems in Chandigarh on April 30, with the two-day event scheduled to continue till May 1, 2026.

The summit is being organised by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, as a flagship platform to showcase innovative, impactful, and scalable public health practices adopted by various States and Union Territories.

The inaugural session will be attended by Nayab Singh Saini, Chief Minister of Haryana, and Arti Singh Rao, Haryana’s Health and Family Welfare Minister, along with senior officials from the Centre and state governments.

Participants will include Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries (Health), Mission Directors, nodal officers under the National Health Mission (NHM), and senior representatives from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Delegates from the National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC) and Regional Resource Centre–North East (RRC-NE) are also expected to attend.

Officials said the summit aims to promote cross-learning among states by recognising successful initiatives and encouraging replication of proven healthcare models across the country.

The annual event provides a platform for states and UTs to present evidence-based, technology-driven, and outcome-oriented interventions that have led to measurable improvements in healthcare delivery and public health outcomes.

Since its launch in 2013, the summit has emerged as an important forum for sharing best practices and innovations in India’s healthcare system.

Bullion Market Shock: Gold Falls INR 26,000, Silver Crashes INR 1.48 Lakh in 89 Days!

New Delhi, Apr 29 (BNP): The Indian bullion market is witnessing a major correction, with gold and silver prices falling sharply after touching record highs earlier this year, bringing relief to buyers and triggering fresh interest among investors.

According to market data, gold prices have fallen by around ₹26,000 per 10 grams, while silver has plunged by nearly ₹1.48 lakh per kilogram over the last 89 days since hitting all-time highs on January 29, 2026.

As per the latest figures, 24-carat gold is trading around ₹1.50 lakh per 10 grams, down from its peak of ₹1.76 lakh, while silver has declined to nearly ₹2.38 lakh per kg from a record high of ₹3.86 lakh per kg.

On April 28, gold prices reportedly dropped by ₹1,629 per 10 grams, while silver fell by ₹5,381 per kilogram, reflecting continued pressure in the precious metals market.

Market analysts attributed the steep decline to profit booking after a strong rally, a strengthening US dollar, easing geopolitical tensions, and reduced demand for safe-haven assets.

Experts said many investors who entered the market during the price surge are now cashing out gains, resulting in a broad-based correction across the bullion segment.

Despite the short-term bearish trend, analysts remain optimistic about the long-term outlook for gold and silver, citing inflation concerns, global economic uncertainty, and sustained physical demand.

Jewellery traders said the price drop has encouraged retail buyers, especially ahead of the upcoming wedding and festive season, with many consumers viewing the correction as a buying opportunity.

However, experts advised investors to remain cautious and closely track global central bank decisions, currency movements, and geopolitical developments before making fresh investments.

Chelsea Captain Millie Bright Announces Retirement from Football

London, Apr 29 (BNP): Chelsea Women’s team captain Millie Bright has announced her retirement from professional football, bringing an end to a highly decorated career at the club and on the international stage.

Bright, who has been Chelsea’s longest-serving player, was part of the squad’s first major trophy win in 2015 and went on to play a key role in 19 more title victories during her tenure. She said the decision marks the beginning of a new chapter in her life after giving everything to the game.

In her statement, Bright expressed gratitude to Chelsea, saying she is proud to have represented the club exclusively throughout her career and will always remain connected to it in a different capacity.

Chelsea confirmed that she will continue her association with the club as a trustee of its foundation and also serve as a club ambassador, reflecting her long-standing contribution and leadership.

During her career, Bright set multiple records, including becoming Chelsea’s all-time appearance leader and making over 300 appearances for the club. She also played a key role in the team’s domestic success, winning multiple league titles, FA Cups, and League Cups.

Odisha Launches E Bus Service to Boost Clean Mobility and Urban Connectivity

Bhubaneswar, Apr 29 (BNP): The Government of Odisha has launched a modern electric bus (e-bus) service aimed at transforming urban transportation and promoting environmentally sustainable mobility across the state.

The initiative is expected to significantly improve daily commuting for students, workers, and the general public by offering a cleaner, more efficient, and reliable mode of transport. The programme also highlights the growing role of women in public service delivery, reflecting an inclusive approach to development.

Officials stated that the introduction of e-buses will contribute to reducing pollution levels, with an estimated annual reduction of around 330 to 390 tonnes of carbon emissions. This aligns with the state’s broader focus on green initiatives and sustainable urban planning.

In addition to the transport rollout, several development projects have been inaugurated and new initiatives announced to strengthen infrastructure and support economic growth in the region. These efforts are expected to enhance connectivity, improve public services, and create new opportunities at the district level.

The Chief Minister emphasised that the coming decade will be critical for Odisha’s growth, describing it as a period of commitment towards building a prosperous state by 2036. He noted that districts like Kendujhar will play a vital role in achieving this vision through continued development and infrastructure expansion.

The e-bus initiative is part of a larger strategy to modernise urban infrastructure, reduce environmental impact, and improve the quality of life for citizens.

Diversions Announced to Ensure Security and Smooth Traffic Movement on April 30

Bhubaneswar, Apr 29 (BNP): The Commissionerate Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack has issued a traffic advisory imposing restrictions on several key routes in the city on April 30, in view of the one-day special session of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly.

The restrictions will be effective from 7 am and are intended to ensure smooth traffic flow and maintain security in and around the Assembly complex and nearby government institutions.

According to the advisory, vehicles moving from Housing Board Square towards Rabindra Mandap will be diverted at Keshari Talkies Square. Traffic from AG Square towards PMG will be rerouted via Jaydev Bhawan and IG Park Road.

Similarly, vehicles from the Master Canteen area heading towards PMG will be diverted through alternative routes near Lower PMG. Traffic from 120 Infantry Battalion Square will not be permitted towards Rabindra Mandap and will instead be redirected towards Power House Square.

Vehicles coming from Lok Bhawan Square towards MLA Colony and Rabindra Mandap will be diverted at 120 Battalion Square towards Sastrinagar Square.

Emergency services such as ambulances, fire services, and police vehicles will be exempted from these restrictions. Vehicles authorised for entry into the State Assembly, Lok Seva Bhawan, and other government offices in the area will also be allowed passage.

The police have requested citizens to cooperate with the traffic arrangements and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience during the session.

New Delhi, Apr 29 (BNP): The visit of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan to the United Kingdom has reinforced growing defence cooperation between India and the UK, marking a significant step in strengthening strategic ties between the two nations, according to the British High Commission.

Bird Population Study Aims to Strengthen Conservation Efforts in Coastal Mangroves

Kendrapara, Apr 29 (BNP): A census of the Mangrove Pitta was conducted across five ranges of the Rajnagar Mangrove Forest Division, covering important coastal mangrove habitats in Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur districts.

According to Divisional Forest Officer Vardhraj Gaonkar, the survey was carried out using both direct and indirect observation methods across multiple mangrove patches in the region. The exercise was conducted to assess the presence and distribution of the species in its natural habitat.

A total of 70 trained enumerators, organised into 35 teams, participated in the census exercise conducted on Sunday.

The primary objective of the study was to collect scientific data on the bird’s distribution, habitat conditions, breeding patterns, and behavioural traits. The survey will also serve as a baseline for future population monitoring and conservation planning.

Officials said such assessments are important for understanding biodiversity trends in fragile mangrove ecosystems and for strengthening long-term conservation strategies in coastal Odisha.

The data collected is expected to support ongoing efforts to protect wetland and mangrove habitats that are crucial for a variety of bird species, including the Mangrove Pitta.
