REMCL partners with POWERCON for Long-Term Operations of its Wind Energy Project
Delhi, Dec 24: Rail Energy Management Company Limited (REMCL), a Public Sector Enterprise of Govt of India and a joint venture of the Ministry of Railways and RITES Ltd., has awarded a long-term Operation & Maintenance (O&M) contract to POWERCON for its 26 MW wind power project in Dangri, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Effective 16th December 2025, this decade-long engagement underscores REMCL’s confidence in POWERCON’s deep technical expertise and proven track record in Wind Asset Management.
The 26 MW project comprises 13 units of 2 MW InoxWind turbines that have completed their first 10-year life under the OEM’s care. As the project enters a more demanding second phase of operational life, POWERCON will undertake a comprehensive technical health assessment, remediation of identified issues, and revival of the turbines to optimal operating condition.
Operating in a challenging desert environment characterised by recurring sandstorms, heavy dust loads, and wide temperature swings the restoration of technical health and long-term care of these assets demand specialised domain expertise, robust technological capability, strong analytical and investigative skills, and a performance-oriented asset management approach.
The engagement is being executed in two phases:
Phase 1: focuses on detailed technical diagnostics of the Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) and Unit Substations, followed by structured remediation to restore full functionality, reassure safety circuit, and stabilise the turbines at optimal performance levels.
Phase 2: spanning 10 years, will prioritise high energy availability, enhanced productivity, improved reliability, and extended asset life. POWERCON’s proven expertise in managing AMSC-technology InoxWind turbines positions it strongly for delivering a complete transformation in REMCL’s asset performance.

Blenders Pride Fashion Tour Crafts Fashion’s New Revolution
Kolkata, Dec 24: Blenders Pride Fashion Tour brought the curtains down on this year’s edition, with a breakthrough fashion narrative that shattered moulds of fashion craft as it is known. Set against the dramatic backdrop of iconic Howrah Bridge and transforming the city’s historic Hooghly River into a spectacular runway, the finale edition presented an experimental collection by designer Anamika Khanna AK, OK, with the charismatic Ishaan Khatter as the showstopper, that pushed design beyond convention and made fashion move into the next era.
In collaboration with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), the showcase challenged long-held notions of craftsmanship, treating it not as a static tradition but as a living, evolving force. Anamika Khanna’s AK, OK dismantled familiar craft vocabularies zardozi, chikankari and mirror work pulling them apart and reassembling them through futuristic tailoring, metallic interventions and cosmic-inspired graphics.
The show unfolded on a Barge, anchored in the midst of the Hoogly river, transforming it into a floating theatre of fashion. It opened with divers emerging onto the barge and scaffolding brought alive through light, smoke, and sound. Models appeared from within the structure to a high-energy score, as responsive lasers shifted with each step, amplifying the tension and momentum of the show. The narrative peaked with powerful chainmail looks presented as a unified statement, followed by sculptural silhouettes in motion. The finale delivered a dramatic crescendo with the Ishaan’s arrival in a speedboat, culminating in a collective closing moment set against the iconic Howrah bridge.
Adding a touch of gravitas to the evening was The Bengal Paddle vessel, with its museum-like interiors and historic detailing, that hosted the who’s who of the city before they were brought onboard the barge. The Riverine Museum within its former boiler room, that houses rare marine artefacts and curated installations tracing the Hooghly’s legacy, created an immersive cultural backdrop that complemented the sophistication of the showcase.

Noida, Dec 23: Noida International Institute of Medical Sciences, Medical College, Noida International University, in collaboration with Yashoda Medicity, Indirapuram, successfully concluded its 20th International Spine & Pain Live-cum-Cadaver Workshop, an intensive 8-day academic and hands-on training program aimed at advancing pain management practices among medical professionals.
The workshop witnessed participation from delegates across India and abroad, making it a significant international academic event in the field of pain medicine. The program was conducted and mentored by Dr. Neeraj Jain, an internationally acclaimed pain specialist, marking his 20th consecutive training workshop dedicated to skill enhancement and knowledge upgradation of pain physicians. Cairn Boosts Rural Livelihoods in Jorhat through Integrated Farm Interventions
Jorhat, Dec 23: Marking National Farmers’ Day, Cairn Oil & Gas, a part of the Vedanta Group, reaffirmed its commitment to rural development by supporting farmers in Jorhat through access to high-yielding rice-seeds, organic inputs, and crop facilitation. The initiative was highlighted during an awareness session organised for the farmers in collaboration with Jorhat Agriculture Department, Government of Assam, alongside Cairn’s ongoing initiative with Krishi Vigyan Kendra Jorhat, and the Assam Agricultural University Assam Rice Research Institute Titabar.
The programme aims to enhance crop productivity, improve income security and promote scientific agricultural practices in the region.
Speaking on the collaboration, Priyank Majumdar, ADO, Nakachari, Jorhat Agriculture Department, Government of Assam said:
“High-yielding varieties like Ranjit and Bahadur have consistently demonstrated strong performance in Assam. By helping farmers access quality seed and scientific practices, this initiative strengthens productivity, reduces risk, and supports long-term farm sustainability.”
Cairn’s role has been to bridge institutions, government schemes, and local communities, ensuring that farmers gain access to high-quality inputs, knowledge transfer, and market-linked confidence.
Under its CSR programme, Cairn supported the procurement and distribution of the widely adopted Ranjit and Bahadur rice varieties developed under the Regional Rice Research Institute system. Nearly 100 farmers, cultivating approximately 110 acres of land, have benefited from the initiative, recording significant yield improvements.
Ratul Gogoi, a farmer from Naginijan:
“We received good quality seeds, compost, and guidance. Our yields have increased, and crop insurance gives us the confidence to invest more in our fields. This support has helped us move forward with hope.”
The initiative builds on an earlier seed-distribution drive conducted in Naginijan earlier this year where Cairn and ARRI introduced high-yielding varieties and promoted organic farming practices through distribution of vermi compost. Additionally, with the support from the Jorhat Agriculture Department, Government of Assam, all participating farmers were also enrolled under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, extending crop-insurance protection and financial security.
Preliminary field assessments indicate a significant increase in agricultural produce with even higher yields anticipated. The report for which will be released by KVK once the harvesting season is over.
Beyond immediate yield gains, the initiative highlights Cairn’s sustained role in strengthening institutional convergence by connecting agricultural universities, extension services, government programmes, and farmer network. This includes facilitating logistics, procurement support, and access to scientific farming knowledge.
By improving yields, promoting organic inputs, strengthening institutional convergence, and expanding coverage under crop insurance, Cairn aims to enhance farm incomes, reduce risk, and support self-reliance across rural communities in Assam.
