Circular Genomics Appoints World-Renowned Expert in Neurochemistry and Alzheimer’s Fluid Biomarkers Dr. Henrik Zetterberg to Scientific Advisory Board

San Diego, Apr 25: Circular Genomics, a biotechnology company revolutionizing neurological and psychiatric precision medicine through brain-derived circular RNA (circRNA) biomarkers, today announced the appointment of Henrik Zetterberg, MD, PhD, to its Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Zetterberg is Professor of Neurochemistry at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and University College London (UCL), UK, and is widely recognized as one of the world’s foremost authorities on fluid biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases.

Dr. Zetterberg’s pioneering work has transformed the landscape of Alzheimer’s disease diagnostics. He leads the UK Dementia Research Institute Fluid Biomarker Laboratory at UCL and serves as Head of the Department of Psychiatry and Neurochemistry at the University of Gothenburg. His research has been instrumental in establishing blood-based biomarkers—including neurofilament light chain (NfL), phosphorylated tau (p-tau 217), GFAP, and amyloid-beta—as non-invasive tools for detecting and staging Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. With hundreds of high-impact publications and frequent keynote presentations at major neuroscience conferences, Dr. Zetterberg has helped establish the scientific and clinical framework for blood-based brain health diagnostics.

His appointment strengthens Circular Genomics’ mission to make brain disorders measurable and manageable through innovative circRNA biomarker technology. The company is actively developing circRNA blood-based assays for Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis and risk prediction, collaborating with leading institutions including Washington University in St. Louis, and recently finalized exclusive IP licenses with global research institutions to advance its Alzheimer’s disease blood test.

India Autism Center celebrates neurodiverse athletes and advances inclusive sporting ecosystem through Sports for All

New Delhi, Apr 25: As part of World Autism Awareness Month, India Autism Center (IAC), a leading not-for-profit organization supporting individuals with autism and related neurodevelopmental conditions, hosted the ‘Sports for All: Building an Equitable Sporting Ecosystem for All’ initiative, in collaboration with The Quantum Hub, Special Olympics Bharat and The Accessibility Coalition, which brought together policymakers, practitioners, para and special athletes, and inclusion advocates to drive conversations around equitable access and participation in sports. The initiative reinforces IAC’s commitment to fostering inclusive opportunities while advancing its long-term vision of Samaavesh – a sustainable, community-based India’s largest residential ecosystem for lifelong care and support. The programme featured  felicitation ceremony honouring young neurodiverse athletes, led by Dr. Mallika Nadda, President, Special Olympics Bharat, Smt. Geeta Mandaviya, Patron Member, Special Olympics Gujarat, along with Mr. Jaishankar Natarajan, Director and Chief Executive Officer, India Autism Center, Ms. Sakhi Singhi, Governing Body Member, Head of Communications, Partnerships, Fundraising and Talent Acquisition, India Autism Center, and Mr. Rohit Kumar, Founding Partner, The Quantum Hub. It also included a multi-stakeholder panel discussion on ‘Building an Equitable Sporting Ecosystem: Bridging Training, CSR, and Policy’, moderated by Nipun Malhotra, Chief Executive Officer, Nipman Foundation & Director – Disability and Inclusion at The Quantum Hub.

At its core, the initiative reflects a larger vision to embed inclusion within everyday ecosystems such as sports creating structured pathways that go beyond participation to enable skill-building, confidence, and long-term development for neurodiverse individuals.

The Felicitation ceremony recognized the outstanding achievements of 4 young neurodivergent swimmers, Meka Sri Ashvath (age: 11), Gunturu Lav (age: 9), Gunturu Kush (age: 9), and Thanvesh Navin (age: 10) for completing a 60 km open water relay swim across the Palk Strait, from Dhanushkodi, in Tamilnadu to Talaimannar, in Srilanka, and back – within an extraordinary span of only 18 hours. Trained by the coaches of Yadhavi Sports Academy for Special Needs, by their Head Coach – Sathish Siavkumar, these athletes began swimming at an early age and have steadily progressed from pool training to competitive open-water events, including the 5 km ‘Samudra Veer’ Porbandar Swimathon 2026, where they competed alongside significantly older participants. Their journeys reflect exceptional discipline, endurance, and determination, with many emerging among the youngest achievers at the national level. As they conclude this extraordinary 60 kms expedition, they continue to undergo rigorous ocean-training, further strengthening their capabilities on an international stage.

Beyond the felicitation, the summit convened a multi-stakeholder panel discussion, moderated by Nipun Malhotra, featuring Sonali Philip (Director of Operations, People & Culture, GoSports), Suvarna Raj (Managing Director, Sugamya Accessibility & Inclusion), Damini Ghosh (Lead, Disability & Inclusion Access, Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy), and Aditya KV (Founder & CEO, Umoya Sports), to explore pathways for systemic change, accessibility, and inclusive participation in sports. Discussions underscored the importance of “sports for all” and the need for structural policy reforms, while also focusing on strengthening training pathways, leveraging inclusion, improving accessibility standards, and fostering collaboration between policymakers, organisations, and the sports ecosystem. The programme also featured a lightning talk moderated by Sakhi Singhi, offering first-hand perspectives from the coaches of Yadhavi and the parents of the Swimmers. 

About the initiative, Mr. Jaishankar Natarajan, CEO and Director, India Autism Center, shared, “Sports have the power to transform lives by nurturing confidence, resilience, discipline, and a deep sense of belonging. The young athletes felicitated today stand as a powerful reminder of what becomes possible when individuals are met with the right opportunities, encouragement, and support systems. Bharti Real Estate launches Abhigyan, a unique industry-academia engagement initiative

Inaugural visit by IIT Delhi students at Worldmark Aerocity as part of field visit and industry interface

New Delhi, Apr 25: Bharti Real Estate, the real estate arm of Bharti Enterprises and owner of the Worldmark brand, has launched Abhigyan, an industry-academia engagement initiative designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application in the real estate and infrastructure sector.

Structured as an experiential field-visit programme, Abhigyan aims to give students practical exposure to large-scale developments and help them better understand the nuances of planning, design and execution that shape modern urban infrastructure.

The initiative began with its first on-ground engagement, hosting civil engineering students from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi at Worldmark, Aerocity, New Delhi. During the visit, students experienced an immersive walkthrough of the development and gained first-hand insights into how a global business district is conceptualised and delivered at scale. The session highlighted key aspects such as integrated design, construction management, project planning and the complexities involved in executing premium commercial developments, followed by an interactive discussion with Mr. S. K. Sayal, MD & CEO, Bharti Real Estate.

Senior leadership from Bharti Real Estate, including Mr. Kamal Kumar Dua, Vice President – Operations; Mr. Amit Tyagi and Mr. Ajay Kalia, Project Leaders; Ms. Cherryn Dogra, Chief Marketing Officer; and Mr. Pankaj Garg, Lead – Projects Planning and Control, along with industry consultants Mr. Raja Raja Menon, Principal at Arcop, and Mr. Amrit Pal, Principal at TPCL, engaged closely with the students. The interactions gave participants deeper insight into the project lifecycle, execution strategies, on-ground challenges and best practices involved in delivering large-scale, world-class developments.

Abhigyan is envisioned as an ongoing platform that will engage leading academic institutions through curated field visits and industry interactions. By combining on-ground exposure with expert-led discussions, the initiative seeks to create a meaningful learning experience for students and provide hands-on understanding of the real estate and infrastructure ecosystem.

Trade Unions and Italian Industry’s demands to Europe

The Secretary of CGIL, Italy’s main trade union, Maurizio Landini, and the President of Confindustria, Emanuele Orsini, discuss the future of Italian industry.

On 23 April, the National Assembly of delegates from CGIL’s industrial sectors—Italy’s leading trade union—took place in Rome, focusing on the future of the country’s production system amid an economic slowdown, ongoing industrial transitions and rising international tensions.

The central moment was the discussion between Maurizio Landini, General Secretary of CGIL, and the President of Confindustria Emanuele Orsini representing Italy’s leading association of manufacturing and service companies. The debate highlighted a shared assessment of the critical nature of the current context, though with differing emphases on the solutions.

Energy has once again emerged as the most pressing issue for the industrial system. Costs in Italy remain above the European average, directly impacting the competitiveness of manufacturing companies—particularly in energy-intensive sectors. Both sides underscored the urgency of structural measures that can no longer be delayed.

At the macroeconomic and European level, Maurizio Landini identified the suspension of the Stability Pact as a priority, arguing for the need to free up resources for public investment in industry, innovation and employment. This position forms part of a broader critique of the lack of a coherent national industrial policy, seen as one of the factors weakening Italy’s production system.

The discussion also addressed the role of the European Union, which — according to the debate — must strengthen common instruments to support industrial transition, starting with energy, technologies and strategic supply chains, in a context of increasingly intense global competition.

A further point raised by Maurizio Landini and Emanuele Orsini concerns the need for Europe to move towards the creation of new common debt, which currently remains lower than that of the United States. The strength of the euro against the dollar, in fact, places European companies at a disadvantage, to an even greater extent than tariffs.

The debate also touched on the role of Chinese industry and what was described as unfair competition towards European companies. Here too, Europe is called upon to act in order to safeguard the Continent’s productive capacity.

Another key issue was investment. Italy’s ability to attract capital and strengthen its production chains was identified as essential to preventing a gradual industrial decline. In this context, the need for closer coordination between national and European policies clearly emerged.

The discussion outlined a scenario of significant concern regarding the trajectory of the Italian economy, with the risk — highlighted during the debate — of a period of stagnation if adequate public and industrial measures are not implemented swiftly.

NMDC CMD Engages Panchayat Leaders in Dantewada for Inclusive Growth

Chhattisgarh, Apr 24: In a proactive step towards inclusive growth, NMDC Limited Chairman & Managing Director Shri Amitava Mukherjee, along with senior leadership, held a meeting with Panchayat heads from villages surrounding NMDC’s projects in Dantewada. The interaction focused on addressing grassroots concerns and strengthening support for local ecosystems.

More than a dozen sarpanches and their representatives from villages including Gumiyapal, Samalwar, Kalepal, Cholnar, Kadampal, Hiroli, Benpal, Kodenar, Madkamiras and Kutrem spoke of everyday challenges related to drinking water, road connectivity, healthcare, street lighting, sports facilities, and overall rural infrastructure. 

Senior leadership present at the meeting included Shri Krishna Kumar Thakur, Director (Personnel) along with senior project leadership including Shri K. Sreedhar Kodali, CGM (Mining), Bacheli Complex, and Shri Rabindra Narayan, Executive Director, Kirandul Complex. 

Addressing the gathering, the CMD emphasized NMDC’s role not only as a mining major but also as a responsible public sector enterprise committed to  uplifting the socio-economic fabric of our regions.  He noted that the company’s strength lies in the trust of the communities it serves, and that their concerns guide its actions while their progress defines its success. “We will work with these villages to turn them into self‑reliant settlements that reflect the spirit of Viksit Bharat,” he said.

Villagers near NMDC’s Bailadila mines expressed  happiness at the discussions on facilities like better water, roads, and healthcare. “Top leaders met us face-to-face, really listening to our requirements,” said a local Panchayat representative. This direct outreach by the company’s senior directors has instilled fresh hope for tangible change.

Shri Krishna Kumar Thakur, Director (Personnel) assured that NMDC will remain in constant dialogue with local communities and that the concerns shared in these interactions will directly guide upcoming development initiatives.

Since commencing operations in Bailadila in 1968, NMDC has played a pivotal role in advancing both industrial growth and regional development through its Bacheli and Kirandul complexes. Over the years, the company has emerged as a catalyst for economic and infrastructure development in Dantewada. As India’s largest iron ore producer, trust in NMDC runs deep in Dantewada, woven quietly over 68 years. Having spent nearly two decades in front of the camera, Sara Arjun emerges as a force to watch in Femina’s April–May issue, stepping into a space that feels both earned and inevitable. From being one of Indian cinema’s most memorable child actors to starring opposite Ranveer Singh in Dhurandhar, one of the biggest films of recent times, Sara’s journey is a testament to persistence, craft, and evolution. 

Helmed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar is a sprawling espionage epic that has captured attention for its scale and storytelling. Against this larger-than-life backdrop, Sara’s performance as Yalina Jamali stands out for its emotional depth and restraint. 

Speaking about how she approaches emotions in her performances, Sara shares, “If I have to show that I care, I’ve experienced the basic core of what care means to me. I just need to amplify it to the degree Yalina would feel it.” 

Looking back at her journey as a child actor, she says, “I’ve had a lot of fun doing all the performances that I’ve done. I revisited Deiva Thirumagal and I’m proud and quite happy with how I acted in it, considering I was only five!” 

On how she has always maintained emotional distance from her roles, she adds, “Even as a child, once I was through with a project, I would put effort into trying to forget about it, or at least not hold on to the emotions associated with it, and just move on.” 

Crediting her father for shaping her perspective towards acting, Sara shares, “I cannot imagine reaching anywhere without my father’s presence. He’s held my hand throughout. He considers acting a sacred art. The kind of value he has for it has been passed down to me.” 

Talking about her experience working with Ranveer Singh, she says, “Nobody will ever top Ranveer Singh as a co-actor. He really thinks it’s not his film; it’s everybody’s film… And he never let his seniority come off as superiority. It is just support.”

Real Estate Sector Sees 63% Fall in Deal Value in Q1

New Delhi, Apr 24 (BNP): India’s real estate sector saw a sharp decline in deal value during the January–March quarter, even as transaction activity remained strong, according to a report by Grant Thornton Bharat.

The report said total deal value fell 63% to about $763 million compared to the previous quarter, largely due to the absence of large-ticket transactions that had boosted earlier numbers.

Despite the drop in value, the sector recorded healthy deal activity with 32 transactions during the quarter, making it the second-highest quarterly volume on record, just behind Q3 2025.

Analysts noted that the market continued to show interest in real estate investments, but the composition of deals shifted towards smaller and mid-sized transactions, leading to lower overall value.

The report highlighted that while investor participation remains steady, the lack of high-value deals significantly impacted quarterly totals.

Overall, the data suggests a more balanced but value-light phase for the sector, with sustained activity but cautious capital deployment.
