Sunburn Festival 2023 Attracts Over 1.5 Lacs Audiences
Since 2007 Sunburn has been recognised for its pioneering efforts in creating momentum for the electronic dance music scene in India and has been successful in putting India on the global festival map.
Hosted in Goa, Asia’s biggest electronic dance music festival made a glorious return for its 17th edition, despite all the challenges, for its’ monumental 3-day jaunt of world class recreation and action-packed revelry, welcoming over 1,50,000 people as the year came to a close.
Electronic dance music fans from all over the world descended on the shores of Vagator as Sunburn opened its doors for loyalists who eagerly await the dance music giant’s return to begin their new year with zeal. Music enthusiasts of varying age groups and nationalities were seen thronging the box office to once again revive the ‘Live, Love, Dance’ philosophy of the Indian festival juggernaut. Loud music echoed throughout the northern shore of Goa as attendees moved to DJs’ pulsating beats across multiple stages.
The mammoth festival site spanning across 40 acres welcomed attendees with a carnival-like experience – fireworks, pyrotechnics, stilt-walkers, smoke, confetti, lasers, LEDs, SFX, art installations, pop-coloured streamers and the personalized themes displayed on the jumbotrons behind each performer. Going by its reputation of being the grandest electronic music celebration of the year that promises a larger-than-life and an all-encompassing experience, this year was no different, with scrumptious food courts, spacious camping zones, captivating flea markets, interactive gaming zones, adventure rides and much more.
Known for its’ quintessential stage designs, world-class technological installations and innovative festival themes, Sunburn Goa 2023 entertained over 120 artists in four stages viz. Enchanted Forest Stage Main Stage, The Nomads In Forest Absolut Stage, Neon Paradise Kingfisher Stage and Magical Land Rupay Stage that were hosted by Mc Stretch.
The 100-feet high and 300-feet wide majestic mainstage that towered over the crowds paid an ode to the festival’s 2023 theme of Enchanted Forest, mimicking the wild jungles and all of nature’s mythical discoveries. The stage featured 500+ lights, 30 lasers and never before seen SFX pyrotechnics.

Day 1 of Sunburn Goa 2023 kicked off on an electrifying note. Dutch electronic DJ duo Bass Jackers were in full flow, playing a steady stream of sub variants of house music, as they demonstrated their incredible technical abilities behind the decks. Powerful and bold, the Russian duo 39 Kingdom enthralled the crowds in a captivating trance with their progressive house and melodic techno. Techno music powerhouses of the likes of Serbian DJ and producer Space Motion and Parisian duo KASST saw a massive turnout at their hypnotic sets.
Dutch DJ and producer Maddix with his experimental yet dancefloor-friendly tunes immersed audiences in his unique and captivating world of kinetic beats and astounding visual spectacles. Making her debut as the festival’s first female headliner, Belgian maestro, Charlotte De Witte– who is the world’s #1 techno artist – jumped behind the decks to serve up her darker style of warped, acid-tinged electronics and warehouse-shaking techno, creating a meditative trance experienced on the dance floor ambience. Her mesmerizing and gritty performance brought the spirit of Europe to Goa for a night to remember.

The tempo transformed into a dark yet whimsical rager with top-notch audiovisual production perfectly complimenting the cutting-edge big room bounce music. Crafting those dance-floor-ready tunes and surprising his audience with a series of house heaters to groove out to, the second day of Sunburn 2023 was absolutely thrilling courtesy Australian powerhouse and headliner Timmy Trumpet. Taking over the main stage deck duties with an epic back-to-back set, there is no denying this was an absolute highlight for both attendees and those watching at home with his remixes of hit Indian songs such as Lut Gaye, Naacho Naacho, Doobey, Oo Antawa Mawa.

Unleashing the spirit of rebellion and innovation through his anthemic setlist, he captivated the crowd with his seamless blend of big-room, techno and hard trance as he bid goodbye to the audience waving the Indian flag.
A special mention must be made to the Indo Warehouse crew, who hosted the Rupay stage for the entire day and captivated audiences with their brand new sound which is indeed taking Indian & South Asian musical influences all over the world. Coming off a high base, the industry recorded a single digit growth overall with the key highlight of this moderate rise being the sharp growth registered in emission-friendly product categories. Both EV and CNG segments posted growth greater than 90% and 25% respectively, signaling a growing preference for green and smart technologies by Indian customers.
For Tata Motors, CY23 was the third consecutive year of posting highest ever sales of ~553K, led by its commanding position in the compact SUV segment and strong growth in hatches, despite the hatch segment degrowing at an industry level.
In Q3FY24, we recorded wholesales of 138,455 units (up 5% vs Q3FY23). Our strong focus on retail sales during the quarter resulted in Vahan registrations significantly rising by ~14% vs Q3FY23 and ~24% vs Q2FY24. We significantly strengthened our market position, reduced channel stock sharply and received an excellent market response to the new avatars of the Nexon, Harrier and Safari, launched during the quarter. Design Thinking and Innovation (DTI) is a transformative course designed for first-year BTech students. It is meticulously crafted to cultivate a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among both students and faculty members. The program encourages students to conceive groundbreaking ideas, transform them into tangible solutions—such as prototypes—and rigorously test these ideas. The DTI Expo provided a platform for students to showcase their projects designed during the semester. This event will become a biannual tradition, with future expos planned every semester.
The inaugural DTI Expo drew the enthusiastic participation of over 600 students, who collectively unveiled over eighty projects. These projects spanned a diverse spectrum of domains, including cybersecurity, IoT innovations, agriculture-based solutions, clean and sustainable technologies, smart education initiatives, cutting-edge transport and logistics systems, renewable energy innovations, robotics, drones, smart vehicles, and automated solutions.

One standout project featured at the expo is “The Guardian App.” This application is designed to safeguard users from phishing attacks and unauthorized access, and the developers are actively working on a research paper based on this project. Another notable innovation is the “Weather Assessment Drone,” engineered for weather condition analysis, offering potential in various industries. Additionally, the expo showcased a “Farmers’ Fire Alarm System,” dedicated to alerting farmers of potential crop-damaging fires, presenting the fusion of technology and agriculture. The P Cart innovation is a cutting-edge smart shopping cart concept crafted by students to optimize the shopping experience for customers by reducing queues in supermarkets and similar settings.
Bhoomannagiri Amith Reddy, a first-year CSE student at KLH Bachupally, passionately described his project, “The Guardian”: “Our vision was to develop ‘The Guardian’ app, focused on keeping users informed about background activities performed by various applications on their devices. The app provides personalized feedback and reports, helping users identify and control app permissions effectively, ensuring enhanced privacy and security. Our presentation at this expo has boasted my confidence to focus on cerating more such projects that are aligned to industry demands.”
Dr. G. P. Saradhi Varma, Vice-Chancellor of KL Deemed to be University, shared his pride and optimism: “We are committed to nurturing students in an environment that fosters creativity and innovation—qualities that are paramount for their future success. Our comprehensive system ensures that students are equipped with the skills and mindset required for employability. I am eager to witness their future accomplishments.”
Dr. L. Koteswara Rao, Principal of KLH Bachupally campus along with convenor Dr. M. Seshadri, actively engaged with each participating team, providing motivation and encouragement. Former CM Kiran Kumar Reddy among 36 HPS alumni explored Raunaq’s H.I.G.H. as part of HPS’s 100-year celebrations, at a high tea & more, hosted by Nawab Raunaq
Hyderabad, December 30, 2023: 36 H.P.S. school alumni visited recently Raunaq Yar Khan’s H.I.G.H.*/Highest In Greater Hyderabad* “, a man-made hill, which is taller than the city’s tallest ancient Naubat Pahad (the hill where Birla Mandir has come up), located on eight acres of the 80-acre private land estate on Road number 25 in Jubilee Hills. The large batch of guests, mostly from outside Hyd, were taken by surprise that such nature-friendly real estate still exists in the centre of this expensive IT Capital of India.

I live close to this place. I knew it, but never knew that it is so big said Kiran Kumar Reddy, former Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, who visited Nb Raunaq to explore this mostly unexplored landmark of Hyderabad. This visit was in between the 100-year celebration of “Hyderabad Public School” at a High tea hosted by Nb. Raunaq for a large group of HPS alumni & their spouses.
Nawab Raunaq Yar Khan, 60 years old, the creator of the hill, is a well-known citizen of Hyderabad and a distinguished personality who has recently been crowned the 9th Nizam of the Asaf Jahi Dynasty by his vast royal family. He is presently the owner of the film set facility located on an 80-acre plot at Road No. 25, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. Part of it is a man-made hill on 8 Acres, only one-of-a-kind in any urban area of the world.
In-city, bigger than all film facilities together.
Nizam Prince Raunaq Yar Khan is known for amazing family buildings and this man-made hill is known as H.I.G.H “Highest in Greater Hyderabad Hill”. Film wallahs know it is a ” Bhoot Bungala”. Many mega-budget films were shot at this place including ‘Rangasthalam’. Already on an elevated plateau, the hill is taller than Naubat Pahad. This place is the talk of the town now. On Google map, it is “Raunaq’s H.I.G.H. Man Made Hill”
It took me ten years to create this hill on an existing tall plateau. I have used moram(a sticky type of soil) so that it holds the embedded rocks. I had to put this place to use to protect it from land sharks, that won’t stop at anything to claim or grab it, Raunaq said.

Coincidentally the party venue, Raunaq’s Hill was the place frequented by Raunaq’s ancestor SultanUlMulk(who built some accommodation within existing air-raid shelters, before World War 2). Sultan-Ul-Mulk was the son of Sir Viqar(who built Falaknuma) & Lady Viqar/Jahandar-Un-Nisa, sister of Nizam 6th, who gifted more than 100 acres to the original “Jagirdars College”, presently Hyderabad Public School, from her private estate.
The tea party was organised to celebrate Christmas & New Year. Nawab Raunq Yar Khan has personally hosted huge exclusive celebrations of many religious festivals other than his own, like Divali and Sankranti for decades by inviting people to the same venue.0He is a sincere believer in the role of inter-religious harmony in a peaceful society, having been recognised and honoured for the same (which included his work as Delhi Police adviser)with a conferred doctorate.
The entire group including g members of the 1975 batch enjoyed the evening g was present. Dilip Chenoy, Former Secretary General of FICCI and a member of the batch was a guest and he coordinated with the group who came from all parts of India and the world.
