Comau Highlights the Potential of AI to Promote the Development of the Industrial System at ETFA 2025
Porto, September 17, 2025 – Comau presented its vision on the strategic use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the manufacturing sector at ETFA 2025, the 30th edition of the IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation, held from September 9 to 12 in Porto, Portugal. As Di Stefano explained, in an industrial landscape characterized by the large-scale use of Artificial Neural Networks aimed at multiplying human skills and optimizing processes, Comau’s strength lies in its ability to leverage unique skills and knowledge to develop customized AI models tailored to the specific technical needs of its customers, both old and new, across all sectors, not just the automotive industry. This is possible thanks to Comau’s more than 50 years of experience in industrial automation, an experience that has already been largely digitized thanks to many years of experience in PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems, and the resulting availability of a large archive of industrial data that has enabled it to train neural networks on real use cases to manage complex industrial applications.
Comau is currently experimenting with the use of AI to enhance innovative technologies and applications in various sectors. In particular, the company has developed proprietary intelligent tools to calculate the actual stiffness of robot joints in order to ensure better movement quality. AI algorithms have also been used to automatically design robotic welding gripper arms more quickly and accurately, reducing design costs and time. Another successful example is the MI.RA (Machine Inspection Recognition Archetypes) family of intelligent vision systems, specifically MI. RA/OnePicker, an AI-based solution that allows robots to autonomously pick up generic and heterogeneous objects in the environment, increasing productivity and efficiency. Added to this is MI.RA/Thermography, an innovative in-line quality verification and control system that uses AI to verify the quality of welding processes in the assembly of new-generation batteries.

Metro Line 2B Phase 1 Nears Completion – Set to Transform Mumbai’s Realty Landscape
Mumbai,17 september 2025:Mumbai’s eastern suburbs are poised for a major real estate boost as Phase 1 of Metro Line 2B moves closer to commercial operations. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has confirmed that all mandatory rectifications have been completed, and the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) has carried out critical inspections.
Phase 1 of Line 2B covers a 5.39-km stretch between Mandale and Diamond Garden, with five stations. The segment is part of the larger DN Nagar–Mandale Metro corridor, a crucial east-west link designed to decongest Mumbai’s road network and improve suburban connectivity. Once CMRS certification is received, passenger operations are expected to begin by December 2025, with the full corridor slated for completion in 2027.
Industry experts believe the new metro line will act as a catalyst for real estate growth across Chembur, Mankhurd, Wadala, and other eastern suburb nodes.
“Transit infrastructure is one of the most powerful triggers for real estate appreciation. With Metro Line 2B Phase 1 going live, we foresee increased demand for homes and commercial spaces near stations, better rental yields, and renewed interest from developers for transit-oriented projects,” said a senior industry analyst.

CII PaperTech 2025: Driving Sustainability and Innovation in Paper Sector
Hyderabad (17 September 2025) — The 19th edition of CII PaperTech, a flagship conference advancing energy efficiency in India’s pulp & paper sector, will be held on 16th & 17th September 2025 at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC). Themed “Make Indian Pulp & Paper Industry World Class”, the event brings together industry leaders, innovators, and stakeholders to discuss strategies for elevating the sector to international standards.
Mr. Pawan Agarwal, President, Indian Paper Manufacturers Association (IPMA) and MD, Naini Papers Ltd., highlighted: ” The Indian pulp and paper industry can become world-class with a simple shift in mindset. Small steps, such as scaling operations, ensuring export consistency, and creating unique value propositions, can make a significant difference. By moving beyond just commodities and focusing on value-added products, we can create a thriving ecosystem for engineered solutions.”
Mr. Sushil Kumar Khetan, Vice President of the Indian Newsprint Manufacturers Association (INMA) & Chief Executive Officer, Emami Paper Ltd., shared: ” CII’s PaperTech has become a powerful platform for ideas, innovations, and change. The paper industry has rapidly embraced technology, with recycling at its very core. Our next big step must be to make paper mills efficient without coal, moving decisively from intent to action.”

In addition to insightful discussions and keynote addresses, PaperTech 2025 featured the release of the “Best Practices Manual in Paper Sector (Volume 13),” showcasing advancements and innovations within the industry. The conference also honored N Gopalratnam, Chairman, Seshasayee Paper & Boards Ltd. with the Distinguished Personality award, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the pulp and paper sector.
PaperTech 2025 is being organized alongside the 24th CII Energy Efficiency Summit and the 26th CII National Energy Awards for Excellence in Energy Management, where leading paper mills and other industries will be awarded after evaluation of their achievements in energy efficiency.
