Redis bets on India’s AI momentum as Rowan Trollope, CEO announces Recent Acquisition of Decodable
INDIA, BANGALORE ,September 22 , 2025: Redis, the world’s fastest data platform, today announced a major expansion of its AI strategy at Redis Released 2025. During his maiden visit to India as CEO of Redis, Rowan Trollope highlighted the company’s AI strategy, and announced new tools and capabilities for the company’s platform, as well as the strategic acquisition of Decodable, while underscoring India’s growing role in Redis’ global innovation roadmap. He emphasised India’s AI-led innovation and its role as a hub for engineering talent, enterprise adoption, and customer growth.

While addressing the media, Redis CEO Rowan Trollope announced the acquisition of real-time data platform Decodable, the public preview of Redis’ new LangCache service, and several other improvements to Redis for AI that make it easier for developers to build agents with reliable, persistent memory. Together, these moves accelerate Redis’ evolution from the fastest in-memory data store to an essential infrastructure layer for AI, delivering the context and memory that intelligent agents depend on.
“As AI enters its next phase, the challenge isn’t proving what language models can do; it’s giving them the context and memory to act with relevance and reliability,” said Rowan Trollope, CEO of Redis. “As technology becomes ever more reliant on LLMs, the strategic investment we made in Decodable’s platform will make it easier for developers to build and expand data pipelines and convert that data into context within Redis, so it’s fast and always available in the right place at the right time.”
“India is not only a fast-growing market for Redis, it is also helping to shape the future of AI. With one of the world’s largest startup ecosystems, and millions of developers building intelligent applications, India represents the kind of scale, ambition, and innovation where Redis thrives. Flipkart Rings in 12th Big Billion Days With Grand Kick-Off
BENGALURU, 22nd September, 2025 – Flipkart, India’s homegrown e-commerce marketplace, officially kicked off the 12th edition of The Big Billion Days (TBBD) at its Bengaluru campus. The event marked the beginning of India’s most-awaited festive shopping event, with thousands of Flipsters gathering to celebrate the midnight countdown to early access.

During the kickoff celebrations, Flipkart Group CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy set an ambitious tone for The Big Billion Days 2025, positioning it as a festival of scale and optimism. The company aims to serve a billion people this season, expecting 250–300 million unique visitors during the event and more than 350 million across the festive period — nearly double the IPL final’s viewership. Backed by 400,000 people across warehouses, fulfilment centres, and delivery networks, Flipkart will service 19,500 pin codes from 4,500 locations nationwide. With customer growth at a four-year high for Flipkart, he underscored that the success of this season will be defined by the collective momentum of its teams.
Pratik Shetty, Vice President, Growth & Marketing, Flipkart, shared his views at the much-awaited Flipkart TBBD ’25 kick-off event, “The Big Billion Days 2025 is shaping up to be our strongest yet. Early momentum is unmistakable – demand for high-value categories such as electronics and large appliances is up, with the recent GST slab rationalisation acting as a strong trigger for upgrades. What excites us equally is the surge in demand from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. This wave is driven by vernacular content, regional creators, and immersive formats that are breaking barriers of access and discovery – allowing consumers to confidently explore both value-driven and premium products.
Gen Z is fast becoming the pulse of festive shopping. A large percentage of our shoppers this season are under 25, and their engagement with live commerce, influencer-led showcases, and short-form video is shaping demand across categories. Gen Z is also leading the charts when it comes to on-app customer visits today, with September witnessing ~55% YoY growth in organic visits. Beauty, fashion, and home are emerging as breakout categories ahead of BBDTBBD this year, with premiumisation driving double-digit growth. The combination of regulatory tailwinds, digital-first discovery, and an increasingly young, aspirational shopper base is creating a festive season unlike any other – one that blends access, aspiration, and acceleration.”
The on-campus festivities set the tone for what may be Flipkart’s best The Big Billion Days to date, featuring leadership interactions, cultural showcases, and employee-led celebrations, reflecting Flipkart’s commitment to building momentum ahead of the event. A key highlight was the simultaneous flag-off of a Flipkart Wishmaster (delivery agents) rally across the country.
Flagged off by Hemant Badri, Senior VP & Head of Minutes, Supply Chain, Customer Experience & Re-Commerce, Flipkart Group, the Wishmaster rally encapsulates the company’s operational readiness and nationwide scale. “Every Big Billion Days steps up expectations – not just in customer sales, but in delivery of delight. This festive season, speed, precision, and reach are non-negotiable for us. For this very reason, we have built over 100 fulfillment centres and nearly 400 micro-fulfillment centres & Minutes delivery hubs across 19 cities. Our scale enables us to meet lakhs of orders with agility and deeper coverage. More importantly, we’re building all this inclusively – 20% of our supply chain workforce in our larger facilities (warehouses, fulfilment centers, etc.) this year are women. With infrastructure, intent, and inclusive teams, we are ready for what is set to be our best TBBD yet.”
Flipsters gather in large numbers in a range of ‘War Rooms’ which are witness to teams working round-the-clock to ensure seamless business continuity, performance monitoring, and customer support. This year, employee engagement focused on Flipkart’s TBBD being “timeless through the ages”, bringing together classic and new experiences.
To keep employees energised and connected, Flipkart has created a supportive ecosystem that includes classic and fresh to Flipkart food options – from the much-loved midnight snacking series to 24×7 food access, tuck shops, and 24×7 medical support with on-site doctors and ambulances.. Wellness remains a key focus for Flipkart, and TBBD Wellness this year is a perfect blend of classic wellness rituals like mandala art, sound and pranic healing. Fresh new experiences include flow zones, zentangle art, creative meditation and more. On-campus and online engagements such as quizzes, music and entertainment evenings, inter team challenges, and social contests will keep the buzz alive throughout the course of TBBD. This year, celebrations will also see new additions with epic milestones marked through real-time “OG moments” on the floor, and heartfelt wishes flowing in from Flipsters’ families.
In the run-up to and during TBBD, organisation-wide town halls and focused sessions ensured alignment and motivation. During these meetings, leaders remain visible and connected, amplifying wins, addressing challenges, and inspiring teams through daily huddles. From frontline delivery executives to supply chain teams, every Flipster is celebrated as part of the shared success journey.
In the spirit of festivities, Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Flipkart Group, reflected on the buoyant consumer climate at the BBDTBBD 2025 kick-off event. “We are witnessing a strong revival in consumer sentiment, backed by policy reforms that simplify compliance and enhance transparency. The recent Next-Gen GST changes are already putting more disposable income in the hands of Indian households, fuelling optimism for consumption-led growth. As we step into the biggest festive week of the year, the mood is one of confidence and celebrations.
At Flipkart, we see this as more than just a business opportunity. For us, it is a moment of responsibility. Our supply chain now touches 21,000+ pin codes, supporting local manufacturing ecosystems & economies; our festive hiring has created over 2.2 lakh additional jobs; and our commitment to GST compliance and digital-first practices reflects our belief in building a sustainable and transparent marketplace. For us, The Big Billion Days is not just India’s largest shopping festival; it is a platform that amplifies opportunities for lakhs of sellers, MSMEs, artisans/weavers, small holder farmers, and local businesses, while showcasing the vibrancy and resilience of India’s digital economy.”
Early indicators point to one of the strongest TBBD editions in recent years. Categories such as fashion, beauty, mobiles, and wearables have already seen strong growth in the run up to the festive season, while appliances are also witnessing strong search intent. The refreshed Flipkart app interface is also driving discovery and engagement. Gen Z audiences are emerging as trendsetters, actively engaging with short-form video and live commerce, particularly in lifestyle and beauty. Tier 2 and 3 cities continue to show robust growth, with rising demand across premium and value segments. With its dual supply chain strategy, which includes traditional delivery and express service through Flipkart Minutes, Flipkart is well-positioned to meet the diverse needs of consumers this festive season.
This year’s The Big Billion Days is a testament to Flipkart’s ethos – precision in execution, celebration of people, creativity in engagement, and care at every step. Every Flipster, across functions and geographies, is recognised as an integral part of this journey, as the company comes together to deliver one of India’s biggest festive shopping experiences.

Hacking the Digital Schoolyard: How Cybercriminals Target Education in the Age of AI
India, 22nd september 2025:For International Day to Protect Education from Attack, the conversation often focuses on physical risks to schools in conflict zones. But in 2025, the bigger battleground is digital. The modern classroom has shifted into a digital schoolyard built on platforms like Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom, and Zoom. While these tools drive collaboration and innovation, they are also prime targets for cyberattacks, especially those utilising AI. Without stronger “digital fences,” schools and universities are exposed to risks that directly threaten students, educators, and even national innovation.

Education: The World’s Most Attacked Sector
The education sector has become the number one target for cybercriminals worldwide. According to Check Point Research (CPR), the Indian Education and Research sector has been hit with an average of 8,487 cyberattacks per week over the past six months—almost double the global average of 4,368 attacks per organization. Across industries, Indian organizations face 3,278 attacks weekly on average, well above the global benchmark of 1,934. The exceptionally high attack volume in the education sector is driven by multiple factors: rapid digital transformation through hybrid learning models, connected campuses, and widespread use of personal devices, all of which have widened the attack surface. Coupled with limited cybersecurity budgets and the absence of dedicated teams, many institutions remain highly exposed, making them easy targets for cybercriminals.
The Education sector is an exploding sector for cyberattacks due to several specific reasons. Schools house vast amounts of sensitive data—from personal information of students and staff to financial and research data—making them attractive to attackers. In addition, with multiple parties needing to get connected to the particular educational institution for curriculum schedules, term holidays, online classes and move, the areas of intrusions simply increase. To exacerbate the situation, it is a known fact that many educational institutions lack the resources to secure their systems adequately; some simply do not have the know-how or skilled resources to ensure defense measures are also up to date. All these inevitably turn this sector into a “soft target” with a “hard” payoff.
Cyberattacks impacting More Than Just IT Downtime
The impact of cyberattacks on the education sector extends far beyond system outages. School closures and exam disruption caused by ransomware has forced universities offline for weeks, cancelling or delaying assessments. In 2023, ransomware attacks cost educational institutions much more than expected with median payments reaching 6.6 million dolar for lower education and 4.4 million dolar for higher education institutions according to a Sophos report.
Despite these payments, recovery remains a significant challenge, with only 30% of victims fully recovering within a week, down from last year, as limited resources and teams hinder recovery efforts. These ransom payments severely impact the school’s reputation, forcing schools to cut corners in other areas, impacting the quality of education to their student.
In recent times, Dark web sales of student data have been found, from transcripts and personal records to forged certificates causing personal harm to individuals and organisations.
In severe cases of cyberattacks, there have been reports of institutional collapse; the 157-year old Lincoln College in Illinois was forced to shut its doors permanently after a ransomware attack.
Every breach chips away at student trust, academic credibility, and institutional resilience.
The AI Factor: Cybercrime at Machine Speed
Artificial Intelligence is reshaping both the threat landscape and the defensive playbook for education. On the attacker side, AI enables deepfake phishing campaigns targeting students and staff, as well as automated credential theft through large-scale password spraying. Now with the power of AI, AI-driven malware now scans and exploits vulnerabilities in minutes, not weeks as in previous times. Attackers are also weaponising AI in school settings, creating highly convincing scams that make phishing far more effective than ever before integrating cybersecurity education early—especially before AI adoption begins is vital, cultivating the awareness needed to resist AI-generated threats in digital classrooms.
In July 2025 alone, CPR identified 18,000 new education-related domains, with one in every 57 flagged as malicious. Many of these were AI-generated, designed to mimic exam portals, fee-payment systems, or login pages.
On the defender side, AI can now help detect anomalies in login behaviour across thousands of accounts, identify zero-day malware before signatures exist and provide AI-powered prevention-first security, blocking phishing, ransomware, and malicious domains in real time.
Crucially, integrating cyber security education early—especially before AI adoption begins—is vital, cultivating the awareness needed to resist AI-generated threats in digital classrooms. For schools with small IT teams, AI-driven cyber security is no longer optional — it’s the only way to keep pace with attackers.
How Education Can Stay Safe in the AI-Era
To safeguard the digital classroom, education institutions must adopt a prevention-first strategy backed by AI-powered tools. Some key suggestions includes :
- Harden authentication by enforcing MFA and monitoring for MFA fatigue phishing tactics.
- Network segmentation to prevent attackers from moving laterally once inside.
- Reinforce phishing awareness for staff and students with examples of current scam
- Patch and update systems regularly, especially widely used platforms such as email and collaboration tools.
- Cyber awareness training for students, educators, and parents — helping them spot AI-generated scams, especially sophisticated phishing scams and recognising suspicious links
These aren’t just IT measures they are core safeguards for the future of learning.
Said Sundar Balasubramanian, Managing Director, Check Point Software Technologies, India & South Asia, “Education is the backbone of every country’s future, but without strong cybersecurity, it becomes an easy target for disruption. In India, we’ve seen a surge in AI-powered attacks that not only steal sensitive data but also interrupt learning for millions of students. India’s education and research sector is undergoing a major digital transformation—driven by hybrid learning, connected campuses, and data-intensive research. This shift has significantly widened the threat surface, creating new opportunities for cyber adversaries. Protecting the sector requires a prevention-first approach, enabled by AI-powered defenses, hybrid mesh security architecture, cloud-native security, endpoint protection, and actionable threat intelligence. Only then can we safeguard academic excellence, protect intellectual capital, and ensure that digital classrooms remain safe havens for growth and innovation.”
Protecting the Future of Education
During International Day to Protect Education from Attack, we recognise that cyber security is now fundamental to safeguarding education. The “digital schoolyard” is under constant attack, with AI making threats faster, smarter, and harder to detect. But with the right tools, collaboration, and prevention-first strategies, schools can protect not just their data, but the futures of millions of students.

Chief Controller of Explosives – Hyderabad Circle, PESO, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India; and delivered the Keynote address at the Seminar and was graced by Mr Saket Tiku, President, AIIGMA; Mr Rajiv Guptha, General Secretary AIIGMA and Shri Shankar Ghosh, Director, Shell-N-Tub Pvt Ltd,; among others. Over 200 delegates from all over India attended the one-day Seminar.

Established in 1975, AIIGMA serves as a common platform for manufacturers, suppliers, and equipment providers in the gas industry, fostering collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and advocacy for safe practices, innovation, and growth in the sector. AIIGMA continues to be actively engaged in policy discussions, industry seminars, international collaborations, and safety initiatives. The upcoming seminar in Hyderabad is part of its ongoing efforts to reinforce safety, technology, and sustainability in the gases industry.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Guest Mr. V K Mishra, Jt. Chief Controller of explosives-Hyderabad Circle, PESCO, Ministry of commerce & Industry, Government of India; in his keynote address said, “congratulations to AIIGMA on completion of 50 years and during this period, AIIGMA has grown by leaps and bounds. Some excellent work was done by the industry during the crisis like COVID; however, we need to retrospect if we had done our best or was there space to do better, such introspection helps to handle future crisis more efficiently. During that period, liquid oxygen storage and cryogenic cylinder installation, were two major issues which could have perhaps facilitated better management. Reflect on such issues and ensure better management in future. AIIGMA did a wonderful work in supporting the industry and entrepreneurs. To maintain high safety standards, need to rigorously emphasis on identification of cylinders, periodic testing and condemnation of unused cylinders.”‘
Mr. Saket Tiku, President, AIIGMA; said, “over the last five decades AIIGMA has emerged as the voice of the Indian Gas Industry, working tirelessly for the growth of our sector, while ensuring the safety, compliance, innovation remain at the forefront. Here, I would like to touch upon a very important development, in the light of the recent trade tariffs imposed on India, it has become imperative for all of us to focus on manufacturing more within India, of course we also recognize the practical reality, as there are certain products which are not manufactured in India. Our Hon’ble Prime Minister has been emphasizing on manufacturing of Semi-conductor chips within India, for producing these semi-conductor chips, we need specialty gases with ultra-high purity, rare gases etc., which are not available in India. Many of which may not have so much demand in India to make it viable to produce here. Till the volumes of such gases become viable to produce, they will continue to be imported. Going forward AIIGMA will be emphasizing increasingly on make in India products, to become self-reliant. At the heart of this entire thing lies safety, which becomes non-negotiable. We conduct regular trainings on safety, which are subsidized by AIIGMA. Safety is crucial in our industry, therefore depute your technical staff for these trainings, benefit from them and avoid mishaps.”
Mr. Rajiv Guptha, General Secretary AIIGMA; “our gas industry carries a significant responsibility to ensure the highest standards of safety, today’s seminar is a testament to that commitment. As we focus on the crucial Gas Cylinder Rules, 2016 and Assembly Rules, 2016; a thorough understanding and sincere adherence to these rules are not just regulatory requirements but are the foundation of our safety culture and a pledge to protect lives and property. Let’s use this opportunity to share insights and collectively raise the bar for safety in our sector.”
