Filatex Fashions Ltd’s mining subsidiary receive Export Order worth USD 35 million (Rs. 293 crore)

Hyderabad, 30 July, 2024: Subsidiary of Hyderabad based leading socks and cotton products manufacturing company Filatex Fashions Ltd  has received export order worth USD 35 million for supply of 2,97,388 metric tonnes of White Marble.

Company’s subsidiary in the mining business, that Filatex Mines and Minerals Private Ltd has received this order from Bloomflora Ventures Limited, a company is into Hospital Development Business for their upcoming 54 hospital in Africa. The order for supply White Marble order over a period of 7 years is estimated to be USD 35 million (Rs. 293 crore). It is the first export order for company’s mining subsidiary.

Board of Directors of Filatex Fashions Ltd at its meeting held on 26 July 2024 has approved the appointment of Mr. Sunil Agarwal as an Additional Director and CEO of the Company in the Executive Director category. The appointment is subject to the approval of the shareholders in the ensuing Annual General Meeting. Indian Consumers Opt for Larger Washing Machines for Greater Convenience: Samsung India

Bengaluru/Gurgram/Nagpur, India – 30 July 2024: Samsung, India’s largest consumer electronics brand, today said that consumers are gravitating towards larger washing machines, driven by convenience and superior wash performance.

A larger drum size for the washing machine provides better wash quality while allowing users to wash more clothes per load, eventually reducing the frequency of washing machine usage – making it time and energy-efficient. Bigger drum sizes in washing machines allow more space for the movement of clothes, thus leading to better-cleaned and untangled clothes, Samsung India said.

Larger washing machines are also particularly helpful in washing essential home items like bedsheets, curtains, and saris which are common in Indian households. As Indian consumers continue to prioritize convenience and efficiency, the demand for bigger washing machines is expected to rise even further, according to Samsung India.

The consumer trend resonates with the latest industry data, which shows that sales of front-load washing machines with 9Kg and above capacities have grown by 45% so far this year, while the 7Kg and below front-load washing machine category has witnessed a fall of 26% during the same period.

According to a consumer dipstick survey done by Samsung India, some users ensure the laundry drum is always full, optimizing its use and minimizing energy consumption, while some users tend to run a second wash cycle with just a few clothes, which can lead to water wastage. Further, the survey revealed that Indian households prefer washing almost everything at home, from bed sheets to tablemats and cushion covers.

The shift towards bigger washing machines also marks the growing awareness for sustainability and energy efficiency among Indian consumers, Samsung India said.

Samsung India has a wide range of washing machines in its portfolio with bigger capacities to cater to the rising consumer demand.

Standard Chartered Bank and Museum of Solutions Partner to Launch Futuremakers Programme

30 July 2024, IndiaStandard Chartered Bank and Museum of Solutions, the unique children’s museum in Mumbai, have signed an agreement to jointly incubate the Futuremakers programme by enabling 100 city-based children from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) schools to create a prototype of sustainable solutions for real world problems. Standard Chartered Bank, with a presence of over 165 years in India, and Museum of Solutions have roped in Teach for India as their support partner for this programme.

Through this joint programme, Museum of Solutions will conduct extensive workshops and training sessions to enable a group of 100 school children to explore skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration and leadership, which are essential to create a
workforce necessary for dealing with the challenges of the future. These children will develop, build, and prototype new ideas to solve future challenges, while promoting a meaningful change within the community. It will aim to deliver two sets of focused skills to these students.

1. The first set of skills-sets will focus on Hydroponics, Composting & Kitchen Gardening, Automation, Fabric work and Hand prototyping.

2. The second set of skills imparted to the children will include Making a business plan, developing a campaign etc.

For the first cohort of the programme, which has commenced, the Museum of Solutions selected 50 students from Karamveer School, Sion, Anand Nagar Municipal School, Chembur, and Worli Sea Face Municipal School, Prabhadevi. The first cohort of prototype solutions for real-world problems, like water-related challenges, developments associated with sustainable food, and skill building sessions such as robotics, hand prototyping, and laser cutting design will be presented to industry leaders and investors in December 2024, and the second cohort of prototypes will be presented in March 2025.

Additionally, under this programme, the Bank will fund the visits of more than 15,000 Mumbai’s municipality school students to the Museum of Solutions during this academic year.

The Standard Chartered Bank and Museum of Solutions will jointly collaborate with BMC Education Department to ensure equitable access to the Museum for children from Municipality schools across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
